Guard's level of responsibility or some other stat similar to it will probably be too high to get himself intoxicated. Certain NPCs will pick of booze and drink it, but many won't.

Works like this:

Schedule determines their goals

Stats determine how they go about them

And here we have a textbook example of narcism.

As stated by the other poster, I doubt bethesda would let something like that slip by.

besides the RAI would make the NPC suspicious of finding twenty bottles of flin just sitting in the middle of the road. however if you accidently left your drink on the table at the tavern i wouldn't doubt at all that some npc might ....pick up after you...

they already said that if an NPC finds something they like just lying around and there stats allow them to steal then they would take it.

What does everyone hat4 the guards lol? I personally only disliked ordinators for their helmets but intoxicating guards is very cruel. Let me help you with some flin!

I didn't know NPCs would pick up items you dropped... jeez I better not drop my diamond.....

Even though the NPC will pick something up, like a potion or drink, will it be in their programming to activate/use/drink it? Just merely holding the drink should have no intoxicating effects.

that is correct. as demonstrated in the E3 demo, the npc picked up the potion. it seemed to disappear then she pulled it out and drank it. or that's how i remember it....

donīt forget that the E3 demo is old as hell and not quite as polished as the real game but I donīt think that has changed(why change it itīs fine that way)
