Solar System, Close to Mars - Coming out of Warp Gate

Veda opened his eyes as a low sound signaled they where near the Warp Gate near Mars. The speed starting slowing down as they where soon out of the warp channel. Veda grabbed the controls and started setting in course for Mars as they came out in a flash and the speed decelerated very fast giving.

Veda looked down on the panel typing a few buttons and saying some commands into his mic.

"I'm changing course for Research Center 413, we'll leave the ship there for some to be maintained and filling up the fuel" Veda said before setting the ship in a wide arch downwards for the Research Center.

"We'll take a small craft from there down to the War Technology Center on Mars" Veda added as he kept on slowing the speed down.

Kratos
"Whu.......Wha..... Oh, right ok. I said wake me when we got there Veda" Kratos said with a scowl

Veda
Solar System, Near Mars - Docks at Research Center 413

"Well we're here now..." Veda said with a laugh as he closed in on the docks. Manouvering the ship threw the small opening before setting it down to the right before the dock opening closed. Once inside two robotic arms took a hold of the ship from above guiding it to a nearby door opening while around eight feet above the ground.

"Let's get out" Veda said a little eager before grabbing his sack and jumped out by the small door. He went over to a small control panel on the wall under the dock number they where at where he typed in a few commands, making the crew and robotic arms filling up the fuel and cleaning the ship for all the dust from space...

(OOC: Kratos getting all grumpy after one hour of sleep... Hehe...)

Kratos
Kratos stood up and stretched. "Veda, you should install some bunks in this thing. That seat is murder on what's left of my back" he said as he grabbed his gear and jumped out of the ship

OOC: Hey, a soldier knows to get sleep whenever he can because it could be a long time til he gets more. And you'd be grumpy too if someone woke you up after such a short while

Mars, Research Center 413 - The Docks

"Hehe... I doubt the seats in a Tactical Assault Fighter was made to sleep in" Veda replied with a laugh, "I'll see what I'll do with it when I have time..." He continued as he pressed a few buttons.

Veda went over to the left before going into another door, entering the Main Hall and then looked up at a huge board displaced several feet above the floor on the roof showing the sections and parts of the center...

Kratos
"So what was it we were here for again? I wasn't really listening to you last time" Kratos said with a laugh.

Veda
Outside Mars, Research Center 413 - Main Hall

"Well, it's a nice place to have the ship and I was checking if there was any place where I could check my cybernetic arm, thing some of the power supply is a little... Empty almost" Veda said laughing as he looked at the huge screen checking for some place where he could get his arm fixed.

Then he looked over at his shoulder.

"Almost forgot the hit they got on me... Wasn't that bad tho" Veda added checking the small burn wound he had gotten by the Rykan Laser.

Kratos
"You not get the new powerpacks yet? I had them installed a while back, they last a few decades if they don't get damaged"

Veda
Near Mars, Research Center 413 - Main Hall

"Hmm, well I cant really feel much when some bullets make their way through my arm. But it's damanged, to high tech for me to fix..." Veda replied to Kratos as he looked up on the screen scratching his cheek.

"The Science Quarters... The Lab over there might have the right equipment" Veda said low as he looked up at the screen before moving his eyes on the direction for the Science Quarters.

"Should be that way... Lets try" Veda said with a small grin before he swung his sack back over his should and started walking into the Science Quarters.

He walked into the Science Lab where he encounter a woman and a man with a handfull of guards, and on the floor a handcuffed man bleeding from his face. Both of the men looked like officers. Veda's hand slowly went in for his Magnum Revolver as he stood in the door opening.

"Knock knock" He said with a funny tone as he looked over at the others in the Science Lab.

Kratos
Kratos walked into the lab behind Veda. "Well, What do we have here? He levelled his rifle at the group. Someone care to explain why that man is handcuffed and bleeding, and you lot are jsut standing around looking at him?"

Satyana
station 413, research centre

Satyana pondered over what Syke just told her, suspecting he didn´t tell the whole truth, she was convinced that there was more to this issue, but decided not to comment.

Also she had no intention to even try to help Arthur up from his awkward position on the floor.....she did not trust that man one bit, he could very well just do something to her while helping him.

Then she noticed teo men entering, how they came in was a mystery, if they had a ship it must hav been docked to the station and she did not authorized some docking-procedure for some time now..but she didn´t really care, those men looked friendly and she needed some friends now..all this was utterly confusing.

"Will someone please rise that scum from the floor so we can hear what he has to say" she said coldly then turned to the newcomers smiling:

"Welcome to our little party, I´m Satyana Viann, commander here, and who might you be?"

Rann, Lab

Rann transported the generator to the test area, but didn't bother with going behind the glass; too much effort.

He cut it on and pace back and forth through the wall as he studied it, trying to get an idea of how to improve this; there were many ways already forming in his head to improve the design, but none that would give any different results.

He left the test area, where he looked over Ed, suddenly more intersted in the laser since his mind wasn't working well with the generator.

Syke, Research Station

Syke held his finger on the trigger, in case the newcomers didn't return the warm welcome given by his sister.

He loked to ARthur who was on the floor; best that he didn't get up. Ever.

'Edward-UM

Edwards face was a few inches fromt he laser, as he picked his way through wires. he occasionally muttered something to himself,

"his is a hazard, the wires are acting as insulation, no wonder these things over heat." he muttered to himself, he then noticed the lab was quiet. he looked up to find Rann looking over his shoulder,

"Is there something you need...?"

Kratos
"I'm Major Kratos and my friend here is Major Veda. We just arrived here, and this is not what we expected to find. Care to explain what the hell is going on?"

(OOC: Auggh! Centre . . . the British spelling . . save me from them . . they spell words how they aren't pronounced! Anyone up for a visit to the Shoppe?)

Arthur, Research Center 413


"Oh that's nice, that shortens the distance between us I suppose." Arthur said just as coldly, struggling to his feet himself, and nearly falling over while doing it.

He stood silent for several moments.

"I expect to be treated properly as an Enemy Officer, I'm sure most of you, except girly here with the funny name who keeps spitting out insults, recognize the laws of war."

Peregrine Warrior, near Jupiter

They passed the Bottanics Space-Station without incident, but the problem was they were now in rather crowded space. The entire area off the side of Jupiter was one of the most condensed trading locations, mostly because the various space-stations around the Bottanics Trading Sector quickened their orbit speed so they passed Ganymede Twice a month, and the other moons were similarly often greeted by the rotating the trading area. The police were heavy but as long as the crew did not find themselves accidentally driving into any check-points they'd be fine.

"So you think your smuggler will be here?" Legg asked, looked about the ships buzzing around in confusion.

"No, I don't know, good a spot as any. Just keep moving, maybe we'll find something."

"We can't keep wasting fuel like this, at this rate we'll spend it in a week and a half."

"Good then we can just crash into a moon and be done with it," sneered Kramer.

Rann, Lab

"huh? What?" Rann asked, stumbling back as Ed turned around. He had obviously been taken away from whatever world he had been in.

"Oh yeah, I was just going to say that the beam is too small. While the wires act as insulation, the beam is too focused, if it was spread out more, more of the heat would escape, also lowering the heat level."

He started looking back at the generator as if he just had an idea. "I think I'm just going to scrap that generator and use parts to make a more efficient one, and then go from there." He sighed. "But not today; I'm tired."

Saying 'not today' was one of his favorite things to do, and was often why things naver made it past his scrap pile.

Edward, Lab

Edlooked at Rann dumbfounded for a second or two, trying to grasp what exactly rann was talking about, then it hit him,

"I see what you are saying, but then by widening the beam you loose some fo the power. But good eye anyways, It's lacking cooling system, which baffles me to the extreme, why build something that is guaranteed to heat up and not include a cooling system." he said once again in his own little world, he went back to fiddleling with the laser,

"why not today? if you don't at least record your ideas you may forget them by tomorrow." he said this as his hands moved methodically, yet enthusiastically along the bundles of cables, trying to track the purpose of each one. he glanced up at Rann quickly, his eyes serious

"procrastination is not an option, and judging from the pile of scrapmetal in your ship you don't procrastinate, you forget" and then he pulled out the core of the laser from the guns, and set it out on the counter, a dozen or more cables trailing behind it.

Rann, Lab

"Alright mom." he mumbled as he grabbed some tools out of a drawer and went to work dismantling the generator.

Rann sorted all of the pieces out on the floor, and looked at it; there had to be something better than gas...

Why not the laser power cell? If he could possibly mimic it...Ed could help with some of it, and he could do some as well...

Rann walked out of the testing room again and moved Ed away from the laser by grabbing his shoulders. When Rann was in front of the object, he disconnected the power cell and held it up.

"Let's make a larger version of this; A physics expert like yourself could find a way to make it power some sort of...anti-laser." he said for lack of a better word. "Then the whole gas chamber thing is eliminated; if this thing can concentrate a laser, it could easily do the same with something else; we just have to figure out what."

"Wait; can a laser penetrate another laser? I'll admit I don't know much about them."

Edward. UM

after Edward was moved he simply stood back and listened to Rann,

"anti-laser.... hmm yes sounds very professional," he said jokingly. he walked over to the dismantled generator,

"I hope you can put this back together," he said as h sat down next to Rann, he got out a plasma screen and begin to write on it using the stylus,

"Well a laser is a focused beam of radiation, so there is no way we could surround a ship in it, because its too dispersed to be of any use, you would be better of using an incandescent light for the same thing. as such I'm sure two lasers of the same frequency would nullify each other, but at different wavelengths they wouldn't do diddily squat." he drew out how a laser basically works,

"you have a mirrored chamber filled with a gas, liquid, or solid. you then excite the substance, forcing the electrons into higher energy states. as the electrons drop down to a lower energy state they release a photon. In releasing a photon, the electron stimulates other electrons to do the same thing. so now you have a chamber filled with photons moving about randomly. they begin bouncing of the precisely shaped mirrors, until they begin to align with each other. then the photon beam begins to leave the chamber in an unaltered and straight path. ." he sketched it all out of the screen for Rann.

"Though it was a good idea, I see no feasible way to make it work. and even if it did, we still have the problem of physical objects breaking through" he said this not in a demeaning manner, as he was simply trying to teach Rann something.
