QUOTE(Intestinal Chaos @ Jan 21 2006, 03:51 PM) Just you watch, my band is gonna fall and crash dead before anything even happens. Mine did; after one practice. They and myself didn't get along too well in music tastes. They wanted to play fallout boy pop-punk stuff, and that's not my style, so.....yeah.

Wow, I'm sorry *shiver* We're aiming more for, I don't apply genres very well, a more Rock/Horror/Progressive thing. Even that gives a kind of bad image to how we'll be doing things, but that's as close as I can think (with my flawed ability to apply genres). Me and the guys are still good friends, I'm just not in their band. No big deal. Sweet. If you ever make a recording, post it here. And then tell me what site you used to host mp3s. In all seriousness, though, make sure that you appeal to every band member's tastes. If you don't, you may have a person like me on your hands.

QUOTE(Intestinal Chaos @ Jan 21 2006, 04:23 PM) We're going to use screaming very sparingly, it's my opinion too many people abuse the use of a scream and that overall ruins them. I mean come on.... Hawthorne Heights is bad enough (in my opinion) without the screamer, it's just even more terrible with it, since it does not match the rest of their music. "Hey kids!, we're cool 'cause we yell! BUY MY STUFF!" You. Win. At. Life.

QUOTE(Dantrag @ Jan 21 2006, 01:24 PM) Ahaha, thank you. I might not have mentioned it on this thread, but we're still in the running for a name. So far we have "Psychosis Butterfly" and "Bloodshot Romance" as potentials. If you have any suggestions just put them down here. EDIT: Bloodshot Romance got killed. I gave Dantrag's point to two of the members (on AIM) and they agreed. It's a 3 to 2 vote and Bloodshot Romance is out (the other two just aren't on, and therefore weren't capable of voting). Psychosis Butterfly's a cool band name. Some of my friends were setting up a band some time ago, but they had a couple of problems. Specifically, they had no instruments and all they had was a couple sheets of lyrics. Last time I checked, they had managed to scrape up enough instruments to manage (thank Santa Clause, everybody). I'll probably end up doing the recording/editing stuff, for the sole reason that I'm the only computer/music nerd they know. (and they have absolutely no connections) I have very, very, basic access to recording equipment (basically limited to recorders, a kareoke machine, and the mic in my MP3 player) and editing software (I use Audacity, when I have to edit music for my own needs) but I think I'm still the only person they can find. (pathetic, but hey) Last time I checked, they couldn't think of a band name either. (as a joke, I looked for band name generators for them, and surprisingly, came up with some they actually liked) They wanted their band to be Ozzie Osbourne/Black Sabbath style. If anything actually comes of it, I'll see about posting a link. Haven't actually heard any Hawthorne Heights music, so I'll avoid passing judgement on them. But if they're like most of the other music in that particular trend (they're an emo band, right?) then I probably would agree with your oppinion. (I do like some of the heavier emo rock stuff, like Thrice, though) Yeah, post the link to the music, if you can, once you can. Sounds like it could be good music. (better than the junk playing on local radio stations, anyways)

(better than the junk playing on local radio stations, anyways) This'll be the first place I go once we get down some recorded songs, but excpect them to be up within a timespan of months :/. Hawthorne Heights... just to say.. is not a favorite of mine... but yes, they are classified emo. I dislike just about everything under the Victory Records label...... The main inspirations of our band are (if you read the "listening to now" thread you may have already guessed one of them) The Schoolyard Heroes, Tsunami Bomb, (more recently) One.slash.two, and the Tigerlillies. You may be sensing a theme if you know most the bands, three out of four of them are female lead. I just prefer the female voice, though I'll obviously be singing in a male one. So far I have been writing two songs, "Living Decay" and another with is currently untitled (I was thinking around the lines of "Say 'I love you' or somesuch). Song one is a bit closer to completion and song two is actually comprised of a fragment of a song I wrote when I was younger. Living Decay is more mellow and sad and song two is romantic.

QUOTE(Channler @ Jan 18 2006, 11:54 PM) I have a speedo.. wore it last year to the beach.. (no joke) It involved some shaving on my part too... Sorry to bring back the past (get off my back, I don't visit much at the moment), but, wow. Thats almost as bad as my Last Knights fan pictures (remember that one, dark night on the chat board?). Also, Haazaa! Konradude! Welcome back and good to hear you're in a band now. If you guys get big, can I sleep in the tour bus? Its kind of a life long dream of mine. Rock/Horror/Progressive/Romance? Sounds like some thing I would listen to until it got to big and started appealing to 10 year olds. Sorry, I got a little carried away, but that sounds pretty awesome. My band has no name, no lyrics that match songs yet, no Bass (though we don't need one as my guitar is so awesomely adaptable) and no unnecissary backup singer who screams increadibly loudly, ruining the awesome guitar solo.

Well, don't get me wrong, We are hardly EVER going to scream, and even when we do it won't be all that rough. It's going to be mostly soft and and quiet, "like softly whispered cyanide" I think is how my singing was described "Living Decay" is nearing completion and I'm going to be focusing my efforts more strongly on the love song. PureVolumeOh well, lookit that. It's a link... why don't you check it out Kindred? (You can't stay neutral forever >: { ] ) ^ You'd better believe the smiley, it has a mustache. I talked to that friend with the band the other day. Evidently I'm now the official general manager/producer/editor/pretty much everything that doesn't require playing a musical instrument, for his band. Kinda sad, but they aren't expecting to get any actual studio time or anything, or hire a real editor, or get a mainstream record release. Optimistic people don' end up being friends with people like me. And expecting any of that would be beyond optimism to the point of self delusion. So yeah, 'til people find out about them, I get to do that stuff. (as a demonstration of the power of sound editing, I left my friend in front of my computer with Audacity and Metallica's Sad but True, let him goof around. Then I had to put down the monster he created before it killed us all.) They just need a drummer now, and I know some drummers. Two of them are even good. Of those two, unfortunately, one is a punk rocker (while my friend's band is more the heavy metal type), and the other is like two years old. (she's actually good, but somehow, I don't think they'll want a two year old in their band ) I mentioned the punk rocker, the band is fine with him, but he wants to know if the band is good, first. Guess maybe I see what they sound like. Hehe.

QUOTE(Aki @ Jan 27 2006, 04:28 AM) I hath returned from mine Vacation! Well, I've been back since Sunday. But too busy/lazy to get on the forums till now... Welcome back Aki QUOTE(Kindred Spirit @ Jan 27 2006, 02:50 PM) that's actually pretty cool. Just think about it, should they ever reach stardom, you'll reach it with them and fame and fortune alongside them. And on the other hand, if they don't make it, at least you'll have some great memories and stories to tell your kids and grandkids and have great times with them
