QUOTE(The Devs @ Oct 8 2005, 07:02 AM) Vampire content in Oblivion?
Correct. There is vampire content (to what extent you'll have to see)...
They tease and torment me! Must they always keep the vampire info a secret? I guess I'll just have to wait EDIT: QUOTE On Vampires, is feeding still done with the absorb spell or is there now a sucking animation? What about the disease itself, is it still curable? How widespread is it among the NPC population? Can the PC spread the disease? Also will there be different clans, powers, and Stat boosts? Will we see any outside Elder Scrolls myths about them come into play? Any other goodies you’d like to tell us? You can feed off sleeping NPCs, and there is a feeding animation. The disease has a cure. While it would be incorrect to describe vampirism as “widespread” in Cyrodiil, you may come across some in very unexpected places. Be very careful if you have to face one in combat. Not only are vampires supernaturally powerful, many possess an invisibility ability that they will engage at will in combat to pop out of sight, only to emerge behind you in full attack. Looks like our wonderings have been proved. A feeding animation at last! This post has been edited by Intestinal Chaos: Jan 26 2006, 04:58 PM

I hope they have a similar clan system to the Vampires the masquerade series.

idk, minque, i thought they were pretty fun, if not lacking a bit of detail. course, that's just my opinion, and your opinion is your own, and not mine to question , but in Oblivion, they will be considerably better. lets face the facts, with everything from previous games getting a "do-over", vampires will rock! And it bears mentioning that im quite psyched about the having to feed to appear normal thing.

QUOTE(minque @ Feb 12 2006, 12:00 AM) Oh well.....Vampires.....some may find them very cool, hmmm I do not....so I will avoid them in Oblivion as I do in MW! brrrrrr Me neither, as soon as I encountered a vampire in MW i saved and loaded in case I was infected with their disgusting disease However I will not avoid them in Oblivion, I will hunt every single one of them until their is no-one left! Unless they kindly ask me to give them mercy.. I never kill a defenceless victim

Hmm, if it would be possible to "hide" my vampiric identity and walk around normally during the day then it might be an option to me... It would be my BIG secret noone knows about... Hulking at night just to find a poor victim to satisfy the uncontrolable urge for blood, then wander about doing heroish deeds during the day, some life Oh yeah, I've also tried to keep the info-gathering as low as possible since the "Woa"-feeling when you initially play a game is priceless, however it seems we won't be getting any breaking reveals from Bethesda, they sure must have gotten wellpayd to keep their mouths shut.

Did anyone else read Vampires of Vvardenfel, Volume II? I found it somewhere near the Red Mountain after looting Sunder from Dagon something-or-another, and its implications on Oblivion are intriguing: "In the West, a shadowy fraternity of vampire hunters is believed to be primarily composed of formerly afflicted vampires who have been cured of the disease." What you say?! Brotherhood of Vampire hunters??? Go sanguinary for a while and then join an exclusive cliche of vampire slayers? Sweetness! Is there any potential for this kind of faction in Oblivion? It might be a release date surprise. This post has been edited by Holosiren: Feb 16 2006, 12:06 AM

I like the fact that if you go long without feeding you start becoming more apparent as a vampire.
It's a perfectly balanced way to stop the complaint of vampires hardly having a social life while adding a new form of risk and an extra incentive to feed.
This was the best possible way to remedy the problem :]
As for the part of sunlight not hurting you if you've recently fed. I think that's just a rumor, sunlight always needs to be a constant threat to vampires, and having blood in you doesn't make sense as a reason for not being hurt by light. You're hurt by light not because you're bloodless, it's because you're cursed.
I alsop imagine you can feed on NPC's during combat, but your success is based on your stats and the stats of the enemy, whereas feeding on a sleeping person is an automatic success, and that's why people will go through the trouble of breaking and entering, sneaking through a house, and the quietly creeping up on a sleeping victim.

Well, to your first paragraph, I was talking about fantasy vampires, not people with melanin deficencies, and to your second paragraph, I realize my "realisitic" argument isn't quite a good one (being in a fantasy world and all), but never ever being able to go out into the sunlight adds a good bit of strategy. At somepoint you may need to get somewhere during the day, for one reason or another. Maybe it's some sort of quest, maybe you stayed out too long and you need to get to a safe sleeping place you know what be checked by NPC's, but whatever the case, I would love to dodge through the shadows in broad daylight, taking damage, but trying to keep it in small amounts. Eventually I'd be too weak to take another hit, or maybe my only path is in a long sunlit path and I didn't have enough strength to cross it. Then I'd go about trying to find a quick snack. I might sneak into a house, taking my victim by force and then having to kill them as to not give away my vampiric identity, or perhaps I'd hang about in the shadows, waiting for an NPC to head my way. When they got close enough I'd drain their blood and kill them, perhaps even look for a place to hide the body. After that I'd sprint across the shining path to my hiding place and sleep the rest the day away. I'd try to find a way to make my every day like that, always placing myself in perilous postions, or attempting to just do daring things. Even after I've completly experienced all my vampiric nature has to offer I'll still keep him around, one player RP'ing for the hell of it, but that's just me.
