PC for me because, as you may have noticed in another topic, I have got a new computer. I always intended to play this game on the PC because I am a wannabe game designer and would like the construction set. ( I will make things, honest! I won't just use it to put daedric armor at the first dungeon )

QUOTE(xycolian @ Mar 5 2006, 09:55 AM) no, they said right from the get-go that it was a title for the 360 & the PC. Release/Launch title. A game that is available for purchase when the console is released. And they never promised it would be available at the 360's launch. Just that they were aiming for it.

I've gotta go 360 on this one. I don't think you can beat the price/performane ratio you get with the 360 compared to the PC.

Aye. 100% performance for Half the Price of a new PC system. Just games a tad more expensive. Some people who have tested Oblivion have said that lip sync is a bit off on PC versions, but just right on 360.

I suppose you mean from the GamerAndys podcast were the guy who played it on a PC states that the lipsync is like one second off. However, if that's the case for ALL PC-versions that is going to break loose hell... A second off in voicesync is a HUGE amount of time and Bethesda wouldn't possibly realease a game with that failure. So I think that was actually just his case, maybe the computer was a bit overheated from all people playing that day or there was some kind of glitch or hardwarefailure that they couldn't really adress that moment... At least thats what I hope . This post has been edited by Bofra: Mar 5 2006, 05:26 PM

Has anyone actually added up the price of the components in the 360 to see what an equivlent computer would cost??

All I know is it's the lastest and most ideal technology for gaming. Microsoft charge so much cos they expecta loss of several billion over the first few years on the machine. They are dropping the price when PS3 comes out, but since they got one over on Sony in this round, they're gonna try and milk it a bit. But, no... Not sure on the value of the components, but I'd kill to have a similar PC. Though, consoles don't need as much processor power as PC's as there is little background activity and shifting files around isn't needed as it's all on the disk.

I'm pretty sure a computer with the exact same components as an X360 would cost quite a bit more than the X360. However it is not really possible to get the components since they are pretty much tweaked and customized to fit perfectly together and run as M$ wants them too. Then again, as Curly_G sais, M$ is probably not earning much from the actual console-sale, their main income will probably be from royalties and stuff like that from the game manufacturers. So if you're really willing to sell your soul to Sata.. erm.. Microsoft.. then go ahead and buy the comfy "ready-to-play-kick-boat-games" console..

I am not willing to sell my soul to Bill Gates... Er Satan... Wait, are they different people?? Anyway, it seems to me from reading the forums that a majority of people getting high-end PC upgrades for Oblivion are also interested in developing mods for the game. I'll play the mods (which is one definate advantage the PC has) but I could care less about designing them.

I'm not sure that the majority of the high-end PC users who get oblivion for PC does it to develop mods. There are probably tons of different reasons, but as for me for example it's not because I want to develop mods, it's because I wan't to play mods. My morrowind-experience was increased hundredfold or more with what the moddevelopers did. I myself only tried a few very simple things in the CS but never published anything. Besides that is the fact that I'm plainly no console-user, as simple as that.

I'm almost positive that NO other game has caused as much of a rift/discussion over the console/PC argument as the Elder Scrolls. Now, I used to be a die-hard "PC beats 'em all" kinda person. With the advent of the 360 and upcoming release of the PS3, I've had to revise my opinion. Not only that, but there are many AMAZING games that were never releasd on the PC. I can't imagine what my fomative years would have been like without Mario, Samus and Link.....

QUOTE(Scrotoclease-the-Mighty @ Mar 8 2006, 02:48 AM) quit frankly, i could care less about the 360. The ps3 will have better games anyway. Last time PS2 came out first, with technically lower specs but more exclusive games. They got one over on Microsoft. This time, Microsoft released first, technically lower specs, they have Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion and the next few Final Fantasy games as exclusives and Xbox get the next GTA the same time as PS#. Now PS3 has been delayed by a good few months and rumours say it's starting price is 600 - 800 USD. So, I'm quite happy with my 360. This post has been edited by Curly_G_: Mar 8 2006, 05:05 PM
