Hello.I'm new here. and I think it really is a nice site. I'm just a little bit worried about my spec, because this machine was built like 2 years ago.
2.4Ghz P4 9800 pro 128mb 1024 ddr ram
I know that it will 'RUN' but, how many options do you guys think I'll have to turn off to play oblivion smoothly?

Hi dlwogur93 according to the minimum specifications, your machine will pass the test, however, I think you will have to set the game-settings to near lowest (compare your specs with the opening post of this thread)

Hey, i know everyone will be off playing oblivion right now, but i need to know if my specs will run it. im picking up my copy today.
my specs are
2.8ghz P4 Radeon 9600 pro 256mb 512ram
I know these arent the best, and im spending about a $1000 on upgrades in about 2 weeks time. But im just wondering if i will be able to play it on lowest settings for the time being untill i get upgraded. I dont want to just stare at the sexy cover and gold septim for 2 weeks and get all frustrated lol. thanks anyone ^^

"Can anyone please tell me If the game wont work because of this? I realy want to buy it as soon as possible" - Elrodon well, im getting a POWERCOLOR ATI RADEON X850XT 256MB DVI/ HDTV PCIE gfx card, its about $410 im pretty sure. and for you other problem, im not sure. the gfx are pretty hardcore lol. if u know what i mean... so u probly might be able to play. (altough i have no idea wat im talking about, plus i dont know what a Vertex Shader is..) today i played it with my specs from my other post. and it RUNS. but all the settings are on lowest and its a fair bit laggy. my suggestion is upgrade im going to. and not play it untill i do. so i can get the best of the game, and not spoil it with this s##t box i have now...

Hey, the official forums are clogged so I thought you might be able to comment on my specs: P4 1,7 GHz 756 mb (SD-RAM!) - I can buy another 512mb so it will probably be sufficient Asus V9950 GeForce FX5900 As you can see I lack a bit of processor power and RAM. From what I've read, the graphics card pretty much determines whether you can play the game or not. According to this website(scroll a bit down), my graphics card is mid-range, unlike other cards of the FX series, so what I'm really worried about is the processor. What do you think, can I possibly tweak the game so it's playable and not too ugly-looking? I especially want to decrease CPU usage. Thanks. -a

I found a link to a useful site where you can actually test your PC to see if it will run Oblivion and if it meets the requirements. I´m very sorry because I´ve just found out my rig will probably not run the game and I don´t know if I´ll be able to fix it..... But anyway..... here is the link. I found it on the official forums......

From what I've read, SRLabs only give you a rough idea of whether the game will run or not. It's possible to play the game with sufficient visuals and smoothness with a system that doesn't meet the minimum requirements. This requires low-ish settings and some tweaking, though. The graphics card is essential here and most GeForce FX are simply too weak. It's hard to tell as I haven't gotten the chance to try it out yet, but I have no option but to wait and see it with my own eyes.

QUOTE(Taillus @ Mar 24 2006, 11:05 AM) My system is a P4 Dell @ 2.0 GHz and I have 512 MB of ram that I will be upgrading to a gig in the not too distant future. If I can only run Oblivion on the lowest settings in 640x480 I will be happy with that for now but the card I have is only a 64mb without pixel shader 2. Any feedback would be great! Thanks alot guys and girls. you are still going to lag but you should be able to run, personally of the cards you posted I would go with the Geforce 5500 myself....but you can do whichever and still run with the lag that is inevitable with that 2.0 P4

Thanks alot guys and girls. Not sure about the Radeons but I do know that people are having a horrific time with the FX series of cards. Personally, I'd go for the 256MB Radeon. Alright thanks, I will buy it but I asked someone else here if the strategy guide is worth it, im not familier at all with the different items or guilds etc in the game since I have not played any other Morrowind game, so would the strategy guide be adequate for me? Also I haven't really played many RPG's, only one I played and liked was Final Fantasy X and still do, played so much of it, I like building my own character with strength etc, but I have mainly played big fps games like BF2, so im just wondering if it would appeal to me.

I have a laptop with this configuration: (as you know from my thread): 70 GB hard drive 1 GB RAM 1.73 GHz Pentium M processor (not worried, a 1.2 pentium M is quivalent to a 2.0 pentium 4) and here's the "fun" part...an NVidia GeForce Go 6200. Yes, I know, it sucks (this point was hammered into me on the official forums quite a bit), but it's a laptop and I can't upgrade.
