QUOTE(Kora @ Apr 18 2006, 11:27 AM) Sunny weather in Bucharest, for a change, but the wind is still pretty chilly. So far, I've heard that about 500 people have been evacuated, were the Danube overflowed, but so far, aside from the extensive damage to property, there have been no lives lost. Thank heavens! I´m glad to hear that , Kora! I´ve been worried about you romanians in that area!

Now don't everyone throw your mittens and snow shoes at me ... but I live in Florida .... all sunshine all the time!!! That is when we aren't having thunderstorms (we are the lightning capitol of North America) and of course, from June to November it's hurricane season. Ok, bigey dealy - ya buy some candles and canned goods. We all got through the summer of the 4 hurricanes, so pour another gumbay smash and enjoy the margaritas. I spent today at poolside, when I wasn't swimming among this delightful little family that for some reason had told their children that there wouldn't be any dinner that night ... you could tell the adults were teasing but the kids were really puzzled about why no dinner. Ya, strange swimming companions I know - but Cain only let's me swim when there are other people in the pool for safety. And he never leaves the darkened room of the computer screens. So, I swim with whoever is there. tee hee I sat out in a lawn chair and wrote a letter to my sis after that and even though it was 6:30pm, the sun was warming my face and legs like it was about 4pm. Very nice sunny, breezy weather - high puffy clouds - egrets, coromants, grackles winging it on the updrafts. God I love Florida! ========================================== Very nice poem, Doomed One This post has been edited by Ibis: Apr 24 2006, 06:51 AM

Ok, yesterday it was hot, and by my standards... really hot! I sat and played some Oblivion and the sun was shining into my room, and after I few hours I was like: Air! air! have get some air, and then I took my clothes of, sort of. I didn't go outside much, but I think it was 17 degrees celsius. This unexpected summer weather sure takes some time to get used to.

The weather in Yorkshire, England has only one setting - Overcast. So today is grey with cloud cover, tomorrow will be grey with cloud cover, and the day after that will be grey with cloud cover, and maybe some rain. Southampton was sunny, but then the south of England usually is. London was a little chilly.
I perfer the weather in Arizona. At least you can see the big blue sky, even if you do get rather sunburnt. California was either grey (in LA), or sunny but wet (San Fran). Vegas was arid.
That's about the only places I've been to in the last two weeks.

QUOTE(X-it @ Apr 26 2006, 03:02 PM) Then weather is quite good here, but every time I approach that strange, glowing ring just outside of town it gets worse. The sky turns red and cloudy, thunder breaks out, and... No, wait... ROFL! Yeah, I've seen that too, very strange...

It's been rather sunny and warm over here as of late (seeing as I've been able to wear a skirt without freezing my bum off in the process).
On a darker note, I once again find myself the bearer of bad news (not exactly tightly related to the weather, but if the situation gets any worse, they will be). Apparently, God Almighty deemed that we needed something to scare us even worse that the floodwaters (which are starting to calm down). Yesterday, it has come to my attention that an accident has occured at the Kozloduy atomic power plant, in neighbouring Bulgaria, across the Danube. A circulation cooling pomp, belonging to reactor no. 5 has been forcibly shut down, causing 22 of the 61 protection elements (neutron absorbers, which control the nuclear reaction within the reactor itself) to stop functioning. This is very bad news, since atomic-safety laws clearly state that if more than one protection element is not working properly, an emergency alert should be initiated. Right now, the Bulgarian government is being accused by the International Agency for Atomic Power of trying to cover up the crisis. And, what is truly ironic is that this fine mess occures at exactly 20 years after the Cernobyl disaster.
I for one, hope that it is a minor incident, blown out of proportion by mediatic hysteria, but the information that I have seen so far tells me otherwise. My father is a specialist in nuclear power and I have learned quite a lot from him over the years. He and Ivan Ivanov, the director of Kozlodui, are friends and so he might be able to get information directly from the source (that is, if Ivanov hasn't been ordered to stay silent on the matter).
Next week, I'm leaving for Cernavoda, to see my family on the first of May and I'll be able to get some inside info on the whole situation from my father. Right now, I have a splitting headache and a wish that humans would stop fiddling with forces they can barely comprehend.

Ahaha Danny! That sounds like what we call "Florida Ice" It's when it's only a drizzley little rain coming down on the highway, but the roads are built up very much with oil and gas emissions from everybody's cars during the dry time. So the rain wets the top of the oil slick and everyone starts sliding around like their tires are driving on ice. Very dangerous! Especially with so many out-of-staters not knowing about it.... and everybody from all the different states and countries all drive in their own peculiar "driving cheats" styles. It's crazy sometimes just going to the store!

It's crazy sometimes just going to the store! Couldn't happen to me. When I go to the store, I usually walk. Anyway, just had a nice first of may, complete with party and minigolfing and drinking a cafe au lait in the sun, and eating icecream! It was rather chilly when the sun vanished behind clouds, which happened regularily - but it was still nice. Much better than the last couple days.
