So here we are.

In and out of the Planes of Oblivion.
In another time, in another place.

Many of you have been here before, or there.
In Morrowind and other places alike.

This is my first visit to this realm.
To RPG's in general, to Oblivion in particular.

By reading this thread, one or two things come to mind.

There is a new definition of time:
Before and after Oblivion.

Before we had lives in the real world, went to work and were focused on the tasks of the day.
Talked to co-workers and friends without asking for tasks or trying to raise their disposition in order to get some info.

Will we ever be able to look at plants without wondering about macic properties?
Will we ever be able to open cupboard witout wondering if there are an Ebony or Glass set inside?

We actually SLEPT when we slept.

One thing is for sure;
After will never be like before again.

It might come close but hey; close is no cigar...

So...

Is there a meaning to this rant?
Is it meant to be a warning about video games?
Is it meant to be a salute to a truly great game?

I don't know. I just wrote it.
You read it, you interpret it.

Get out while you can, Elendil! ... You can escape like we didn't. That is my interpretation. ahahaha

The TV news is having a special tonight called Internet Addiction. So little do they know. But they shall never discover Oblivion - they are unworthy.

Tee hee hee ... I was just kidding about getting out while you can, Elindil. Welcome and the more the merrier. And the Bethesda party has been going on strong for many a moon now. Arena came out in something like 1985 or 86. Can it really have been that long now?

Anyway, I think that online and computer gaming is a very healthy way to spend your time. You aren't getting drunk (neccessarily), not having to smoke, not out in traffic speeding and endangering lives, not out on the town spending all of your money - you're having fun, keeping your senses keen, staying interested in life and not hurting anybody else (except mobs in the game who deserve to die.)

So where's the harm? If someone is neglecting their family or missing work .. then there might be a problem. But most gamers use the gaming to balance out the emotional strains of their real life with something really fun.

I kinda figured that... smile.gif Don't worry, I don't take offense that easily... biggrin.gif
And thanks, I really feel welcomed. This forum is unusually...*loss of words, in-head Swedish-English dictionary out of order* laugh.gif ...grown-up?

You're absolutely right, I just wanted to get a discussion going. I absolutely love the game, apart from some things that are getting a bit tedious(see the thread on Sideways Cave).

Cheers! goodjob.gif

Aye, I agree. I just don't understand why playing computer games would be a bad hobby?? I mean, most people just sit on a couch and watch tv instead.
Like when I go home, and sit there in front of a computer, my mom goes like: that's such a waste of time!
Right, so doing crossword puzzles or watch soap-operas for a whole evening is not a waste of time?

I generally have avoided a lot of the *other* addictive games, like EverCrack.
Alas, I was hooked by the WORST (I mean BEST) of them all!!!! laugh.gif
