Hy! What do you mean by "will be"? I alredy am.
The only diffrance is that I just have to get off my lazy boat and get to work.
In any case 666 is the number of the beast, do I look like a beast to you?

QUOTE(Ibis @ Jun 7 2006, 01:44 AM)
The year 2006 is all based on the Christ's birth, which has been shown to be unknown and that the early Church merely superimposed their own holidays over pagan ones to gain easier acceptance with them, so the whole June 6th, 3006 thing is relative.
*

Wrong.

The AD years are based on the year of Christs DEATH not BIRTH. The year is known, 34ad. Origionally it was thought to be 30ad but the monk who calulated it was off by four years. Or was it the other way around...

Anyway, these dates have been corroborated (big word bad spelling sowwy) through several ancient writings, Jewish, Roman and Greek among others...

And the early Church did not merely impose their holidays over pagan ones, but I know we are not supposed to discuss religion here lol, so just my 2c and hoping to avoid a flame war...

Oh ok, I didn't realize that. But of course, that's why A.D. is "after death." I didn't think it was actually known. But I guess if you know when Passover was that year and Jesus died the friday before Passover, then they do know, eh?

Ibis, A.D. is not "After Death" I'm sorry to say. It's "Anno Domini" and means "In the Year of the Lord" in Latin, wich comes from relating to the year of Jesus birth, also not his death. I'd like to know why you believe it's from his death CR2, even though it doesn't matter much since no-one can be quite sure when he was born or when he died since there are very few date notations in the texts that speak of him when he was alive.

See here for more info on Anno Domini.

Moderation notice: This is not TESF. As long as the discussion remains civil, you are in fact allowed to discuss both religion and politics, as long as the topic permits.

Hey, well I misspoke. It is taken from his death for the following reason:

Since the mistake was 4years, the CE(AD in old speak) yeardate for Jesus Birth would be 4bc, and not 0AD.

Therefore since his death can be accurately shown through texts of the era, I would say that the current dates come from His death not His birth.

If you want I can get into more detail, I am not really checking any sources for accuracy right now, just posting from memory...

As for a date notation of his life, there are Historical references that can be cross referenced in other ancient historical texts.

Also, the Bible notes in Luke 3:23 that Jesus started his ministry at 30 years of age. Work out his time of ministry you get about 3-4 years, work back from his death at 34 and you get at least his year of birth.

The book of daniel has a pretty accurate prophecy on the death of Jesus and the subsequent destruction of Jerusalem. It is accurate to the month and year.

But I'll relent with that...

A.D is Anno Domini, and the year of birth (according to legend tongue.gif)

Anyway, I find it strange that the world over accepts that this is the year 2006, despite the diversity of world religions.

And I also think that the fear of 6-6-06 is both naive and ignorant.

Not the entire world accepts it's 2006, but yeah, most of it does.

I suppose it would be most confusing if all countries chose their own year-measuring, especially in a time like this when we constantly communicate and work cross-borders.

Oh noes, he's been tainted from birth according to the Christian model tongue.gif

Edit: That was a joke, I don't actually believe that.
