The Tale of Telina Delvanni, Chapter 5.
The Rise of Great House Telvanni
-“My name is Llovyn Salvu, Wizard of the house, and I have been assigned to you as your advisor…so would you like to hear the councils current focus”? I answered him with a promptly yes, so he smiled and continued. “The council is complaining about the gap Gothrens death made, so I suggest that you instate a new Master, to take residence in his former tower. These are the candidates.
-“Mallam Ryon Gothrens old mouth, I’ve heard that he is drowning his sorrows in Fara’s Hole in the Wall”.
-“The second one is Lady Zubadayah, daughter of Lady Zafirbel…a rare beauty that one is, she is half Chimer, half Dunmer. You will find her on the docks of Tel Mora”. Hmm, strange half Dunmer half Chimer, that was one I would have to meet personally, so I walked down towards the docks, ready for a boat trip. The same as with my stronghold I was given an item to get back to my chambers here in Sadrith Mora, only this time it was an amulet with a powerful drain health as well, which I could unleash on my enemies.
The trip was a comfortable one, and I was soon over in Tel Mora. Finding Zubadayah was not difficult, I only needed to find the first person who had her right side golden skin, and her left side the ashly grey that was normal amongst us Dunmer. Her face was striking, and she had a kind of divine upheaval beauty around her, almost as she was from a different world than the rest of us.
-“Exuse me sera, but you must be Lady Zubadayah”? “Who asks”? she said. “Telina Delvanni, Arch-Magister of Great House Telvanni…I’m offering you a job as Master, if you wish it, as soon as you accept you can find a Mouth, and take up residence in the tower of Tel Arhun”.
She looked at me for a bit, pondering on her decision. “Deal, I’ll find a Mouth and take up residence in Tel Arhun”. She turned and walked towards the tower of Dratha…”Wait a moment, I have a question for you”, I yelled.
She stopped, and turned again. “Why is it that your skin is half golden half ashly”? I said to her. “Because I’m the daughter of Lady Zafirbel one of the original founders of Great House Telvanni, and Lord Vehk, Azura granted every daughter of my line to be born with the split skin of Chimer and Dunmer, to show that there is still hope for our race”, then she walked away, leaving me standing there.
After a few moments, I gathered myself, and went for a piece of fried fish at the local inn, before I went back to Sadrith Mora. “I’ve convienced Lady Zabadayah to join the council as a Master”, I told Llovlyn.
-“Exellent”, he smiled, “the councils current focus is now to bring the Mages guild down, would you like to destroy the guild here on Vvardenfell”? he asked nervously.
This required some thinking. Ok, The Mages Guild had never been actually good to me, the had called me several things, taken unnecessary high payment for me being Telvanni, I had more than once been threatned on my life when I had been in a guildhall lately…and back when I lived in Cyrodiil, they had tried to get me arrested for being a necromancer (I had refused point blank to join their guild )…and not to mention they made many people who offered magical training have “unexpected accidents”, and the last thing was that they currently had a monopoly on magical training here on the island, and they would destroy the house, if they had the chance to it…”I’ll make sure the guild is destroyed personally”, I told Llovyn after a few minutes thinking.

awesome first reply is mine!! This is great, wow the mages guild really is worse than I thought..... I wonder if Telina will slaughter every single guild hall on the island personally. She sometimes seems evil.

He smiled broadly at me. “Ok, first I think we should make the two most important guild stewards, and possibly make them join us. Bribe Edwinna Elbert, their leading member within the Dwemer, and Skink-In-Three-Shades, who is an expert on the sixth house. Tell him that we have mutual interest in his cause, and can pay him better.
Ok, so bribing Edwina in Ald Rhuun, and try to turn Skink in Wolverine Hall, by telling him of our mutual interest…that would be easy, I could see no bloody things here. Sometimes I wonder if the gods love to toy with our lives.
-“Oh sure I’ll join your House” Edwinna said…”IF you manage to get me a Dwemer coherer and 10.000grant”. Typical, now I needed to go out and find possibly one of the rarest Dwemer items one can think of, and give her ten grand…and my day had just started.
-“Skink House will join, after getting amulet of Dagoth house and 15.000 drakes, no sooner”. Ok that was even worse, getting an amulet of House Dagoth meant wading into a pestilent lair filled with corprus beasties and other foul things. Now I had actually heard of a sixth house base in a cavern called Hassour, in the Foyada Mamaea, which thank Azura was only half an hours walk from Balmora.
But when I stood outside the cave door two hours later, I wished the road had been longer, but I took a deep breath and went inside, ready to shot steel laden death upon anything that moved in there.
The base had crude big red candles put up everywhere, and I got a chill in the bones just being there, and the smell…the smell of death and corrupted flesh filled up the entire cave system. I took the way to the left, and had only walked for thirty seconds before a corprus stalker came wagging towards me, arms extended like another zombie, but fortunately it seemed to have an allergic reaction for being sliced in two by my Ice Blade of the Monarch, which I had re-acquired for this situation…as it fell to the ground, as its flesh just seemed to grind into dust.
The next thing I ran afoul of was two ash slaves, who slung a spell each. One of the spells hit me in the chest, but I had learnt from my encounter with Gothren, and the Indoril armour made the spell bump neatly off, doing next to no damage. The ash slaves had it a bit worse, as I swung my sword in a deadly arc, which neatly severed the head from the torso on one of them, before I swung around and slammed the sword into the skull of the other who was cleaved from head to groin.
I stopped a bit to catch my breath, and I knew that although I could fight, it was mostly with small light not to mention fast blades. I had too little training to wield such big claymores as this one, but the only way to get experienced is actually to get out there and get the experience.
I walked a bit further, and pushed an unsuspecting ash ghoul into a lava pool, before walking up a kind of stone “bridge” to the shrine. Turning to face me was a rather pissed Dagoth, who acted like he wanted a good piece of Telina on the menu.
I had expected some foul sorcery, but the spell I got slammed towards me was not sane, I managed to dodge it fortunately, but when I looked behind me I could see the rock wall having been set alight. Only one other place had I seen something like that, although that time was much more powerful than this. Velas, the wizard who called himself a Theurgist or something had used a spell like the one that had just been used, only a bit more powerful…but I doubted that a Dagoth would go out and be trained as a Theurgist, which meant that (at least from my usual luck) there had to be a very powerful and dangerous cultist here, knowing his share of Theurgist spells.
The next spell woke me up from my dosed off statement, but painful it was, I got a spell straight on me, fortunately that was no way near as powerful as the first one, it was still immensely hot, and I could smell the foul stench of burned hair, so I felt at my head….DAMN, IT HAD BURNED MY HAIR!! I walked back up, walking carefully was out of the question, I ran in crossbows blazing, and my quickness had surprised the cursed being, as I managed to shot two bolts in the area of where his intestines should have been, but it stood there, yelling some other cantrip, but I’m afraid that it never managed to fulfil the sentence as a big ice claymore took the trip of getting buried inside its head.
Spitting of the being which was now twitching on the floor, I gulped down two potions, one to restore my health, the other one to boost my magicka. Before walking further I picked up the amulet it had around its neck, and set the shrine alight.
I walked with the outmost care through the corridors, not meeting anyone, not until a bog room, with a natural rock pillar standing in the middle. I could see two ash slaves, a lame corprus and a…a man, most likely the Theurgist. As silent as possible I loaded the crossbows, aiming them both at the man. Naturally you must not forget that we are talking about me here, and my luck. Not before had I fired the crossbows, before the lame corprus manages to stumble upon a rock, and take both bolts in the head and fall limp to the floor.
I screamed out in frustration, only to realize too late that I still had three more creatures or men to deal with. The man summoned up a fiery vortex of gargantuan size. I ducked behind the wall, only to leap even further behind, as the red had bypassed red, over to white, before it started to run like hot butter. So he was a magic user with extreme powers, and I was a person with a few nasty spells, and a rather big sharp sword…time for some clever thinking.
I sat down as the spells were flinged around me, consentrated, felt the mind of the simple ash slaves. I had never tried to take control of two before, and I’ll tell you it nearly drained me of my resolve, so it was a weakened version of me who ran like the lords Oblivion itself was behind me, towards the Theurgist, who was now fighting for his life as the two ash slaves. I screamed a brutal battlecry, before I swung around, and smashed the blade horizontally, cleaving the Theurgist and the two ash slaves in twain.
I sat down, panting heavily, dragging out the dagger the man had managed to shove into my shoulder. Drinking deeply from a restore health potion, I sat myself up, looking around. There were too many crates here for only be used as beholders for that vile meat these creatures ate, so I thought we were talking about smuggling. MY luck was even greater than I could have possibly imagined, one crate was filled up to the edge with scrolls, the other one was full of Dwemer artefacts, including a coherer. I grabbed the coherer, and then shipped the two crates to my Tel, for safe keeping.
I turned around, and looked down on the powerful spell caster, I smiled, this was my first victory, my first kill I was actually proud of, I had been totally alone, and cleansed out a sixth house base myself, including killing a Dagoth, and a spell caster, who had an arsenal of spells deadly enough to melt rock. This was something I would remember…forever. Probably as a symbol, I cut of his head, and had it sent to my Tel, along with a note that it would be set up on a pike, just outside my shroom.

I don't know how many hours it took, but I've caught up as best as I could (I couldn't find chapter 1 ). I would just have to say that Telina's adventures are in epic proportions, from facing off against the Sixth House in this previous installment, to the Dark Brotherhood in Mournhold, to corrupt Telvanni like Gothren. I'm really glad I got caught up with this, any later and it might've taken FOREVER. Can't wait to see the next update.

QUOTE Well poor Banden Indarys and his family .......at Bal Isra, didn´t she just put them to sleep? Soo she needs Redorans? Interesting! I´m looking forward to hear more about that! Maybe there will be a Serene-update soon.......just have to make some installations... Well, ah yes...now that is actually a Telvanni quest, so I included it, since it is actually an illegally built stronghold. And yes please a new Serene update soon, long time since I got such good news.
And Lord Revan, she have never taken any real pride in a kill before, sure she have enjoyed a few of them, since it was people she actually hated...but the reason she was proud of that last kill there, is since she was actually inferior to that one....how would you feel if you had once been popular and good in about everything, then get kicked down into the mud(just a way of saying this), and lost about all of your skills and knowledge. Then you get back on track, and you actually manage to beat that big bully who have beat up anyone else who have tried on him...but you manage it, someone who is immensly stronger than yourself....I think you would have felt a bit proud dont you think?
But only a short one today.Edwinna took the coherer, packed her stuff, and followed me to the bank. There I took out the 10.000 septims she wanted, plus another 15.000 for Skink. “I think you better get away fast…I have no idea when the strike on the guild will be there, so you go up to the Telvanni council hall, and head on up to the Arch-Magister’ chambers, knock and wait for my advisor to come, he will assign an area for you”. She bowed, and went back to the guild, I meanwhile took a translocation spell to Sadrith Mora. Skink was also quite happy when he got his amulet and money, and took a few seconds to pack, before he stormed out in a hurry. I smiled evilly to the mages around me, oh yeah soon you’ll be in more trouble than you can possibly imagine. I walked back to my chambers, and then just sat down in my big throne, just to sit and have some rest. I awoke after something that seemed to be a minute. I felt freshly re-invigorated, and my pack seemed miraculously lighter than it had been yestere, and I had little or no trouble performing my more powerful spells. I had a bite of fried fish at Fara’s Hole in the wall, before talking to Llovyn again. -“Yes Arch-Magister, both Edwinna and Skink are now a part of our house, so now over to step two…you must kill Arch-Mage Trebonius, I don’t care how you do it, just kill him…that will give control over to our spy who will for the moment remain anonymous…he will then make a few “problems”, and entrust House Telvanni with the Mages Guild, in order to stop all the rioting and rebellious mages that will undoubtly try to take control of the guild. This will weaken the guild so much, that Telvanni will be the sole trainers within magic and such here on the island”. Ok, this was getting scary, kill the Arch-Mage, hmm, undoubtly a criminal act, so I just needed to make him try to kill me…or maybe, no that could not be. I pondered back and forth, before I came to my conclusion, quite simple, yet the same time much more subtle than the “storm in, crossbows blazing and make a hole in everything you see tactic”. My only problem was that my plan required me to walk into their main guild hall, which was filled up with the Mages Guilds finest, probably from my luck they were armed to the teeth in scrolls and destructive spells…so here I was walking into this enemy territory, to try and come with enough insults to make that fat greasy, not to mention arrogant pig that was Trebonius, to attack me…I don’t know if it was my usual Telvanni paranoia, or not…I just had a bad feeling about that idea. I was almost shaking here as I walked into the Vivec Mages Guild. All the mages around me was gritting their teeth, and most likely making ready a nasty spell, or grabbing for the closest weapon. There at the bottom of the stairs sat Trebonius, in a chair, which was groaning under the weight. -“Oi Trebonius, you fat pig, I’ve heard that you have been banned from all the bars and such here….you eat so much that there is nothing left for the customers…come over to my place, and you’ll be thinner than a needle when you get back”, I laughed loudly, and could see many of the mages trying their best to suppress a grin, if it was a good or bad thing I didn’t know. Trebonius, had stopped up, before he arose, and stood before me…even now I could smell the stench of booze and food, but he was an imposing figure, wide of girth, and over a head taller than me. -“Shut up…child of a mother of mine”, he said back. I admit I was greatly insulted by that comment, but I shook it off me, and so began a game of the tongue. My insults is something best not told here, but a great deal of the mages left, wiping their tears. But in the end it ended with Trebonius saying…”I could kill any Telvanni who is up against me, it’s like slaying a child”. I grinned at him…”ok, today at noon, the Arena, use any spells of weapons you want”, then I turned and translocated back to my stronghold to change my attire. I was standing in one of the rooms that led into the arena pit, I looked quite unarmoured, but underneath, I had the flexible Dark Brotherhood armour, and the Black Hand set over it. The black Hand set(for those who don’t know it’s a robe with gloves shoes and a hood, that enhances several skills), was just big enough for me to have the armour underneath, but that did not matter…all that mattered now was the match.

I walked in to the arena pit, and was met by roaring cheers from the audience, and smiled…this was my hour, I would prevail. In my hand was the staff of Magnus, slung at my back was two adamantium shortswords, ready to be used. I chalked my hands, before I walked up to Trebonius, to shake hands. I could see now that the fat pig, was clearly regretting, it was more than reputation here…it was his life at the line.
We shook hands, and stepped backwards, Trebonius was undoubtly readying a spell, I on the contrary, had managed to find out the true potential of the staff of Magnus, it had the ability if the user was strong enough, to stop spells, and feed the power into the user, granting him or her stronger power to his or her spells.
The bell struck noon, and the fight began, my plan was as simple as to make Trebonius tire and spend his magicka, while making me more powerful, as I was still only slightly better than your average mage, I just had the arsenal of right items, and the ability to think out of the box.
A fireball zoomed towards me, and so I fed power into the staff, and Trebonius was shocked to see the fireball stop in the air a few inches from me, and then suddenly it turned into purple mist, and was drained into the staff. I gasped as the staff gave me power, the unusual feeling of having so much power within you that is barely possible to contain. Another spell flew in, and was absorbed, Trebonius was getting increasing desperate, trying all kinds of different tricks.
I had to launch a spell soon, all this extra power made my head feel like it was on the way to split, I was barely in control of myself any longer, and I hated it. I fed all of my power into the staff, a massive ball of electricity formed above it, before it flew away and towards Trebonius in raging arcs of lightning. He screamed as the lightnings tore into him, and he collapsed to the ground. I formed up another spell, and sent it forwards.
This time, the room turned dark, the temperature plummeted and the very walls themselves was getting particles of ice on them. I could see people cuddling together, trying to keep the warmth in them. I formed up one last spell, a psychic shockwave that was normally only to be used to knock people off their feet, but with the staffs power, it would be…different. I unleashed the spell, all around me the sand at the pit whipped up into the air, almost blinding me, but I could hear the sickening thud of a body hitting the rock.
I threw the staff away, drawing both swords, running towards where Trebonius was. As by a miracle he had survived, although he looked like he had gotten the beating of his life, he was still alive, even worse he had a sick grin around his face…and the orb of incandescent fire making its way towards me explained why. The ball hit me, but I had not the time to scream, I just continued stumbling forwards, as the fire burnt its way into my flesh, I fell forwards, planting a sword in each of his lungs, then everything just turned black.
I woke up again, with a smiling Edd Theman standing above me, as well as Baladas. “W-what happened”? I said weak. “Trebonius died, and you fainted shortly afterwards, but still you won, so now the last part of the plan have started to form out…Tiram Gadar have now taken control of the guild, and is holding a long speech in the memory of Trebonius, and will afterwards discuss the plans for the …ah…survival of the guild”, he smiled trickly to me, and I could catch a hint of amusement in his eyes, so he definitely had something against the mages as well.

I had spent most of my breakfast pondering if I had done the right thing...I had acted on my feelings again, Destroying the guild seemed just such a good idea at the moment, but now I was thinking, obviously a lot of people…no…innocent people was going to get killed, and I was too late to stop it. At least the power in the Staff of Magnus had been spent, and it would take years to recharge it….that staff was too scary for me to handle. All I could do now, was to make sure that I would never do such a thing again.
I was also thinking about my future, I was skilled with magic no one doubts that, but still there is much more out there, and if I was to survive in this world, I needed to be better and stronger, and I knew where I should go. I had heard Raina talk about this ancient Telvanni, who was quite feared some 800 years ago…he was now living in a hut on an island just outside Sadrith Mora, and it was always worth a try.
But before I was going, I needed some more training. And Manilian was more than happy to oblige. “Ok Ser Delvanni, we have been through shortswords, and longswords…remaining is the use of a claymore”.
We spent many long hours with strength training, as wielding a claymore was heavy, I knew that better than most. So my plans for getting to the wizard Jaron Scorchblot was out of the question, at least for the next couple of days. The training was hard, harder than ever, and I was exhausted at the end of the day, but Manilian was smiling and telling me that I was getting in shape. He awoke me early the next day, to learn how to fight…I spent two and a half days after than training non stop…I was tired, anyone would be that, but I was still up and running, something that I would never have been capable of when I got to this island. The last fight we had, had now lasted for seven hours, both of us was bleeding from scores of wounds, but neither was ready to give up.
I swang the big sword in an upwards twisting arc, Manilius extended his blade, and stopped it, then he used his superior strength to push me down to my knees…I knew that I had to do something drastic if I was to manage myself this time. I let all of my force go, and fell forward, the sudden lack of resistance, made Manilius slip, and gave me the momentum, I took a split over him, and kicked him in the back. He stumbled forwards, as I pressed on, swinging faster and heavier, for the first time I had the upper hand, I was driving him back, he one of the masters in the art of a blade. In a vicious crosscut, his sword was smashed out of his hands, so he was forced to draw another one. I ran towards him, I knew that he would soon take the momentum back, so it was imperative that I took him before that could happen.
What I was planning to do, was to dive forwards under his blade, roll to the left, and strike my blade into his back…a most effective trick, and also the most dangerous trick one can use in a fight. He readied himself, for another swing, but then I threw myself towards the ground, landing with my hand palms down first, I barely missed his scything sword, a quick roll to the side, and I was standing again, holding a big and sharp claymore at his neck…”you…you lose”, I gasped towards him.
He was panting, but soon started laughing, he had been defeated, so his trainings had not been in vain. “I knew you would best me someday, your head is something truly magnificent, all you have to do, is to let it go, as soon as you act with reason, there will be no stopping you”.
I followed him back towards my Tel, I was sad when he told me that he had nothing more to teach me….not before the time had come. My Tel had grown even more, and the walls around had started to take shape, and one of the towers was now complete, the same thing was the barracks and library, all finished, so hopefully when I got back from Jaron, I would have a finished mansion.
I bade my loyal staff farewell, and then opened up a portal to Sadrith Mora. I checked my map, to try and find out where this Jaron might be living. I decided to try out the biggest island first, so a small water walk potion later, I was strolling the water. It’s a strange thing walking on water, it seems hard as gold itself, yet the same time soft as cotton, and small ripples formed each time I stepped on it.

True Planty, thats why I've decided not to have it in my Tale, but here is another update, and now I'll go and see if I cant write another update for my prolouge.
At the top of a big island, I saw a rickety old shack, outside it sat a man patting on a skooma pipe, and three Atronachs standing around him, but they did not look like normal Atronachs, there was something different with them. When I got close he rose up, and had a good look at me. The Mer was…strange, the same powerful eyes that Baladas had, speaking of raw power, his hair was short and burning red…but not even that was strange compared to what he stood for. The Mer was almost humming with natural powers, and if I used my inner vision he sent ripples of disruptive magic outwards, how such a frail body could hold so much power is beyond understanding, it was probably why the space around him was disrupted by magic, it was leaking out of him.
-“Ah here she comes, the great Telina Delvanni, come sit sit, I’ve been expecting you, what is it I may help you with”?
-“I heard you were quite feared some eight hundred years ago…I want to learn how you became so powerful, and I wish to study whatever you can learn me…or in other words, you’ve got power, I have none, so I wish for you to learn away some stuff to me”. I was worried if I had been too rude here, but he just smiled.
-“Hehe, Telina, do you know what a Theurgist is, he…it’s a wizard who have a great deal of control with the elements, hehe…if you wish me to teach you Theurgy hehe, I need some cash five thousand of ‘em hehe…need to help myself survive you know”.
I dropped a money pouch in his hands. “Its around five thousand there, keep the rest…now teach me”.
-“Ok hehe, first of all, I need you to collect some reagents hehe, need to have something to spice my food up…so here, bring me three portions of fire fern, tramaroots, fire petals, vampire dust, frost salts pearls…and I’ll teach you four spells, each will be a nasty handshake to your enemies...hehe, normally I’d only teach you one of the four elemental powers of Fire Frost Lightning or Earth…but my time here is closing to an end, and I need to teach it all away”.
Ok, I wrote down everything and went collecting, fortunately I had everything but the fire fern in my alchemy lab, and fire fern, was just to pick some grass of the ground around my stronghold. “Oh great, you really have an aptitude for this don’t you”, Jaron laughed. “As promised I will learn you four different spells, the names of them are simple enough, shocking touch, burning touch, frozen touch, and grasping touch…the spells are more intricate so here let me teach you”.
The next hours we practised the spells together, even for a basic Theurgist spell, it almost drained me to cast all four, but good training it was. After I got some rest, I talked to Jaron, for more training. “ok, one of my couriers was in Suran to delivered a letter, but he haven’t returned yet, find him an tell him that he is fired, and make sure to bring the shoes he borrowed from me back will you”+
Finding Suran was easy, it was just a simple spell and I stood at the middle of the square, accidentally I bumped into the false incarnate Vidron, that I had handled for a time ago. Now he seemed happy to see me, true I had cut off his hand, but I had saved him from becoming a target of the Ordinators, and now he was smiling at me, standing in a brown Temple robe.
-“Ah yes, old Jarons Mer”, he said when I brought the term up. “The guards said he stumbled out into the river and drowned, but I saw some Mer’s drag him upwards towards Bal Ur, I think he is dead”.
So it had come to killing now had it, and kidnapping, well it was not my case, all I was supposed to do was to get the shoes to Jaron. I rented a skiff, to take me along the river up to Bal Ur. While we were going silently upwards in the river, I was looking as hard as I could into the water…”STOP”!!!!! I yelled. There was something in the water, a half rotten body was entangled in the grass underneath the surface. Taking a deep breath, I jumped in, swimming down.
It was a Telvanni for sure, I could see the robe, and even more it had the marks of hat you get after a dozen of blades stab you. I picked the shining shoes off him, they sang with a pure tone of magicka, which I reckoned as several constant effect spells, was on these shoes. I thanked the Mer who had paddled me up the river, before I recalled back to Jarons shack.
-“AH, don’t worry, keep the shoes, I don’t need them…but killed you say, hmm I’ll go and check it myself. Meanwhile I need you to track up an old…friend of mine, a woman who is named Neela Angletoe, she have an amulet of mine that I want returned, she and I used to be together, but we went our separate ways, I’ve heard she is a dancer at Desele’s, you should start there”.
Desele, that was in Suran, and even worse it was the kind of house I hated. Desele was the topless woman standing behind the desk, and she seemed quite oblivious of the man looking at her like some dog who have spotted a piece of fine steak.
-“Wha’ can I ‘elp ye wi’ lass”, she said. “I’m looking for Neela Angletoe, she works here I’ve been told”.
-“Oh, I’m sorry lass, she left for ‘bout a month ago, poor child, never knew wha’ was best for ‘erself, always fellin love wi’ these ol’ men who came by, but if ye still need tae find ‘er, ye will find her in Caldera, at the clothier.
