Oh yeah, you should definitely read that. Anyway, the moral of the story has to be adapted a bit.
It should be:,, Don't mess with the Spartans within melee range. Especially when you only approach from one side." The Greece army was notoriously underequipped for long range combat.

And another Spartan quote, this time of a presumably unknown soldier. Or two actually. I don't know the literal version though.
Soldier 1 (perhaps a Thespian? He doesn't sound very Spartan):,, When the Persians fire their bows, the arrows will block out the light from the sun."
Soldier 2 (Spartan):,, That's good. Then we'll have our battle in the shade."

Yeah they use that quote in the movie, but in the movie it's "....thousand nations of the Persian Empire descend upon you.... Our arrows will block out the sun!"

Spartan- "then we shall fight in the shade."

A slight word difference, the first guy is persian.

Yeah 300 looks interesting because of the personality they're bringing to the Spartans. A lot of movies about history leave most of the characters kind of flat, especially when they don't know much about them. I remember hearing about that battle a while ago, it sounded so cool I wondered why no one made a movie about it, but I learned there were a crapload of books about it and even a GN.

Well at least Morrowind is still pretty easy to find. Not to mention it would be fairly cheap now. Still, it is frustrating to rebuy a game because of something like that. I had to rebuy Diablo 2 because it went missing, but it kinda turned out for the better because I decided to buy the Battlechest version with the expansion and booklet and whatnot.

My game disc once broke too--years ago. So I upgraded to GOTY edition! That was a fair spot of luck, really.

I know the pain. My Starfleet academy disk broke. (Bad story, but fun gameplay. I mean, if you already have to save the Federation before you've even got your diploma, then how the heck did the Federation survive longer than the first week?)
Well, actually, only one of the five disks broke. Lucky me, it was disk one which is the vital one.

I don't really miss it though. I bought Morrowind two weeks later. Now I'm saving up for a nice laptop and the GOTY edition.

any gears of war fans out around here?

my friend just rented it and i've been playing for about 5 hours. my personal opinion: although the controls are hard to get used to, you ultimately end up with a game that has intuitive and fluent gameplay... and its really really damn pretty too. my two cents, whether you care or not. biggrin.gif

If I had an X-Box 360, Gears of War would certainly be a top choice of game purchases. Unfortunately I do not own an X-Box 360, nor did I get one for my birthday. Though I am still happy with my gift, a 19 inch flatscreen TV with a built in DVD player for my room, which I'll also take with me when I leave my home to attend college in the fall.

I could purchase an X-Box 360 if I wanted to, but I think I should save up for my college tuition instead. Smart choice eh?

Yes, you'll need that money for college. Tuition, fees, books--they try to bleed you out of everything you've got.

In my current work as a TA I've got a tuition waiver and I'm paid nearly $900 a month on top of it (more than a $20,000 value in total, at least), but I'm still getting killed by the fees. (Plus rent, plus insurance... damn!)

anyone drive a clutch? anyone a mechanic? my car... recently it started doing something odd...

i can put it in first, very slowly let out the clutch and it will simply drive itself.... with my limited knowledge of cars i suppose it were possible if the car idled high.. or if the clutch was messed up, but it only started doing it like half an hour ago... any ideas? (other than go to a mechanic)

indeed i have not put it past my small honda civic to be possessed. i decided to ignore it, however, until it becomes a bigger problem, then pay tons of money then. biggrin.gif

any other way would require i tell me mum about it. and her logic would be: "it was fine when i drove. now you start driving and its broken. its your fault."

^ Gotta love logic like that huh Shogun?

I don't have the attention span to drive a stickshift, if I tried I would probably end up putting it in fifth gear instead of third! laugh.gif Doesn't really matter though, I don't have my license yet, and need to get my permit renewed (Yeah, I am lazy)
