The only times I've peeled off skin is when I've been walking around (barefoot) around a swimming pool in the middle of Summer. And then the skin is dead anyway.......

I never peel off the dead skin. I tried once when I was young, but I pulled a bit of live skin too and that hurt. So I've never done it again.

Of course, it helps that I haven't had a sunburn that bad in at least a decade.

Nope, I didn't peel this time. But I certainly enjoy peeling it when I do peel!

Oh yea, and sorry for going dead just as soon as I got back. My modem at home has gone on the fritz again, and the internet provider said it would take 48 hours to fix the issue. So hopefully soon I'll be able to get back into my regular posting frenzy that I typically do. Until then, I'll just have to settle with surfing the internet while at work.

Oh yea, my robotics team finished 4th in our entire province! We're pretty happy with our results considering that we were the best robot that could only carry one soccer (football) ball at a time. The robots that place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were robots that could carry 2 balls at a time, which allowed them to score more points. If we got lucky, we could've gotten 3rd, but the robot that started breaking down in the finals played in the gold medal game. Ohwell, I still got on TV for an interview about it today.

To the last part: OMG, I don't know if I should envy or pity you, I've never been on TV...... Anyway, congrates to you, Mallet. My cousin does botball, and he'll be playing in hawaii sometime soon..... not really into it, but he's family (not to mention the only family member that plays videogames) so my folks and I support him as is necessary. biggrin.gif

That's outstanding, Mallet! In another life, I would have enjoyed working with electric motors and circuit boards and logic programming- maybe.

With my north European heritage (Irish), I am definitely in the burn and peel category. When I used to fool around with boats, I was dumb enough to wear cut-off shorts a few times. Note to the wise- if you sit on the seat of a canoe for 3 or 4 hours in the middle of a lake in July, wearing cut-offs- you will get a nasty burn on your knees, the tops of your thighs, and the tops of your feet. Sun-block is NOT optional for pale-skinned, blonde-haired, blue-eyed people.

Catching up. Finished teaching my class- grades will go in today. So I just have my regular job for the summer.... Maybe I can read and participate here more often. Then again, they asked me to teach the Comp. I class again this fall, plus an American Lit. class. So summer may be spent reminding myself that there was something to American Lit. from 1500-1860 besides Hawthorne and Melville.

"The Scarlet Letter? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?"

Maybe there is something about Juan Pardo- after all, he made it into TN- and it appears that the so-called "Melungeons" are descended from some of his Portuguese crew members. Mainly, I want to make it fun. Right, good luck with that.

Ah, the classic Irish skin. I have that. Makes anywhere sunny a nightmare. I've gotten badly burned on my shoulders, neck and back before from being out for a couple of hour doing an athletics competition. But it's worse for my dad.
He manages to get sunburned when it's cloudy biggrin.gif

Oh yea, that has happened to me once when I was golfing. Seriously sore burn on the back of my neck, one of the worse places to get it. I'm the pale skinned, fair coloured hair, and blue eyed type people as well so I understand a lot of what you guys are saying.

I also appreciate all the congratulations you guys are making. At the moment, I am considering going into something that involves robotics or something specific to electrical technology. I've been accepted to a private college that specifically focuses on technology stuff like that so that's going to be really helpful. It also might give me some other ideas on what to do.

One part of the course is a huge project that you work on during the final two semesters of the course. My Registar mentioned one project that basically tests if you have actually suffered whiplash. The machine itself I believe basically a little game that you use you chin/head to control. The machine monitors your movements and the pressure you exert on the machine. Supposedly, if you don't actually suffer from whiplash, your head actually doesn't have control over the pressure you exert onto the machine and it'll catch that. If I remember correctly, the people who made the machine were currently trying to get a patent for it because they'll make millions off of it since insurance companies would love to own machines like this. Guess it pays off to have parents who are chiropractors.

The insurance companies (and the courts) here in the US would really love that invention. With the insane number of lawsuits piling up in the courts, it might be nice to have one more way to get things resolved quickly.

Congrats to Mallet on the robotics thing (hopefully one more of these congrats won't send you over the edge)

On a more personal note, I now have only 12 days to finish editing my thesis before it has to be turned in to the thesis office. Then, I'll finally be done with this PhD and I can get on with the rest of my life.

I'm supposed to watch Spiderman 3 tonight. It's going to be buuussssy though. I have a feeling we might have to leave around 9 for a 10:30 show. Fortunately, we bought our tickets beforehand. Hopefully we get some good seats. Fingers crossed!

Oh yea, congrats to Channeler for becoming a man! I didn't consider myself one until I turned 19, since I think of buying alcohol legally as the most manliest thing I can do tongue.gif Glad to see you enjoyed your night.

I hope by 'soon' you mean this summer. I don't want them to be too quick in putting the next Piraates movie out.

I still haven't watched Dead Man's Chest for a second time.

those new movies keep coming out and i don't have time for them. Thank god for Limewire! anyways, didn't they say that the movie POC: WE is out in May? Theres is a cult in my neighborhood that worships that series of movies, its really rather disgusting. A few houses down there are what i call "Tolkein-ists" and they go nuts over LOTR. Reminds me of south park when the kids playing Harry Potter and the kids playing LOTR cross paths. Cartman says, "Harry Potter, what a bunch of fags!" I just think movies are the new religion these days...
