I am buying Oblivion as my first ES game.

I'd like to start my first character as I type of 'spellsword'. I couldn't find any actual info on classes on the elder scrolls site, so I thought I'd turn to you guys for help.

For my 7 primary skills, I thought of including the following:
Destruction and Alteration (dmg spells + lock picking etc, both using will power)
Heavy Armour, Block and Blade (Str+ Endurance. Obviously these for a warrior type build).
Also, how about Conuratio nfor cool weapons. This would need Intelligence, though....

After this, I'm dumbfounded. Please can someone help me out with what to take for the rest of my skills, minor skills, and attributes.

Thanks for helping a new player, all help is appreciated.

The classes are changing drastically from what they were in Morrowind but here's a good guide for info on what they were:

Here

Of course, I assume they didn't add any, but the class system for morrowind was done with 5 skill majors, 5 skills minor, Oblivion will be 7 skill majors, and that's it.

That means 21 classes, but there are 315 different possible skill combinations. The classes are logical combinations for playstyle however, and most of them are just combinations of the 3 areas with respect to whatever "job" that class seems like.

So, as you can see, because the chances of a class having those exact combination of skills for the character in my signature, I made a custom class.

I don't usually look up the links for my posts, so be extra happy, lol.

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/file/m..._creation_a.txt

that is a character creation bit that is super thorough. It has everything about creating a MW character, as you know there will be differences in OB, but this gives you a good idea of who things were, and what they are building from.

Race/gender stats

skills

stats

signs

Maybe something I didn't take the time to notice too.

Is that like a way of saying you figured out what you wanted and want to have this thread closed now?

You are welcome.

One addition, from what I understand (and obviously we'll know more when the game is released) magic users will gain more powerful items if they're focusing on magic. Not heavy armour, long sword etc. It could be that by mixing skills from different styles (combat, magic, stealth) you might miss out on some benefits. Which was a flaw for me in Morrowind, as you could basically become like a God who'd mastered all the abilities. Not long to wait and see now smile.gif
