First time I was doing a Thieves quest, got caught, no biggie. Off to Armand to pay off my bounty, done. NOT. They're still chasing me, etc etc. In the end, I had to load up a saved game from awhile back and do the quest all over. Not too bad, it wasn't a hard quest.

Now this, I'm in the "Big Heist" quest now. I got into the palace, but as soon as I appear in the room, a million guards are aware of me and attack me, needless to say, this ruins the quest. So I figure, next time, I'll wait until the middle of the night to go in, when they'll be asleep, nope. They're all still going nuts attacking each other, an innocent person and me.

I searched for some Thieves Guild help to no luck, so any suggestions on how to get around this "glitch" or issue, it would be very appreciated. Thanks everyone.

... If thier attacking each other... why don't you just wait until most of them have killed each other?

They're not only attacking each other, but me as well, and others. They notice me every time. It's insanity!!!

I've done that as well but there's a few downsides:

1. They never completely kill each other or calm down and leave.

2. They always manage to run around me and end up seeing me then killing me.

How about just running through the middle? Or stepping in, let them fight, walk out of the room until thier al close to dead, then just run it!

Or, (if you have one) try to use invisibility/chameleon while withdrawing or watching the battle. As they say, you can't fight what you can't see. (Special methods were not considered by whoever made this statement first. biggrin.gif )

That sounds great, but I'm a fighter mostly, my only skill with magic is Destruction, heh. Is this a glitch that can't be fixed or did I mess up somehwere along the way? It's happened twice, as I stated, the first time was much easier to take care of because I wasn't stuck in the Imperial Palace! Haha. Thanks for the replies, this is a very sticky situation.

EDIT:
I fixed the issue. For anyone who has this problem in the future and finds this thread here's how to fix it:

Keep trying.

Haha, it took me about 5, 6 times loading, saving, loading, exiting, etc etc. EVentually, for some very, very odd reason, it worked. Good luck and thanks Dark Hunter for the replies!
