hi there, have any of you guys done the chorrol castle stolen painting quest? im a bit stuck on it at present. i questioned all the right people, and so far ive found both the hidden painting equippment in the mages room and the strange painting downstairs in the west tower. but for the life of me i dont know what to do next, ive gon through (it seems) the entire castle with a fine tooth comb and i cant find anything else in the way of clues or evidence
Did you touch the painting? There is a quest, I dont know if this is it where theres a magic paining and the artist is stuck inside so you go into a paint dungeon. Dunno if this is it.

I havn't even gotten that far... I found the painting....
Mabey you should either
1) talk to the people about the new evidence (if possible, i forget easy) or
2) Save your game and start accusing people and reloading on wrong guesses untill you catch the cuprit(sp?)
Good luck and enjoy the game

Go to the dining hall next to the Throne room. Check the carpet there, under the table. You should find some dirt tracks that will give you the last "clue" when you activate them. That's the last thing you need to do before accusing one of the NPCs.

I think the quest should have ended when I realized that everyone except the chick said it was raining, and her alibi was star-gazing. Oh well, it was a fun quest. Took me forever to find the paint spill in the dining room too.
It is awesome quests like these that make Oblivion 999x better than Morrowind!
