I'm not in the current RP, but I've decided I'm going to to be in the next one (whenever the current one finishes), and I thought of an idea that might be interesting (don't worry, it's not a story idea, just an idea about how the RP could be run).

The idea is that, as well as having a different poster to take the part of each main character, there could also be a poster who acts almost as a Dungeon Master, and can make posts on behalf of any of the minor characters and as any of the 'baddies' in the story. They could also post general environmental detail, such as weather, and narrate any natural events which are not directly caused by the characters (eg. if a bolt of lighting struck and caused a tree to fall, or if a volcano erupted).

Of course, the normal posters could post such details too, but I thought it might be more immersive to have someone focused on describing the background to the story, and give more life to any foes or minor characters. What do you all think?

I thought of that idea too... in the first RP on a forum I was in I thought of that because I've been a DM in Dungeons & Dragons for 3 years, if I might start the next RPG I could do that - Great suggestion Cumbie :goodjob:

With pleasure.

Each person in the roleplay writes about their own character, right? The idea is that one person doesn't write about one character, but plays the part of all the minor characters the other characters meet. They also play the part of the bad guys, and give descriptions of the environment in which the RP is taking place.

Basically, this person acts as a DM in a D&D game, or like the AI in a video game - they control the world in which the main characters are adventuring.

Ok...

Lets say your in a dungeon in a RP... And then I (DM) come in and write "posting" or course...

And in my post, I can write detailed what the characters can see, enviorment, possible monsters etc... Can also post locations, weather etc. while the characters act.. It might be a little bit hard.. I can also control NPC that u can meet in villages etc..

Understand a bit now? :goodjob:

Indeed, it is rather fun. biggrin.gif

Esspecially in dungeons and such. In one a DM unleashed flying monkeys on the group.

Swarms of flying poisonous monkeys.

Nah, to do that he'd need unstoppable homicidal moanics, Werewolves that look more like monkey-lion hybrids (*cough* American werewolf in Paris *cough*) Vampire, Werewolf-Vampires, swarms of man-eating bats, rats, and birds.

etc. etc.
