My belief is that the outcry against OB was strong enough to make SI. Granted they still work within game mechanics, thats how expansions work.
The decision to start using voiced dialogue was their Achilles heel, it forces linear gameplay, so now good is wholly good, and evil wholly evil. Bland, unexciting, little to no replay value. To 'compensate' they add in a bunch of caves that are marked, no joy of discovery like in MW. The guilds had no skill and attribute requirements, no challenge to meet. Of all the guilds, ONLY the Dark Brotherhood encouraged using their favored skills, even then, it was in the form of bonuses, which wasn't all that great anyways.
However KoTN and SI added in the lore and alien worlds we wanted. Cyrodiil was supposed to be jungle, we got forest. The Imperial City was supposed to be the epicenter of culture in the empire, we got the coliseum with some apartments built in. There was supposed to be more saints then you could shake a stick at, we got some racist bible thumpers. (Alessia Ottus, a great way to enter the DB)
So hopefully the outcry is strong enough to make Ashley Cheng go [censored] himself, and hopefully get fired. Yes I blame him most of all in ruining OB. Did you see him on the DVD? Basically he's the guy who said that cutting corners was the right thing to do, and was also the guy behind the "Dunbarrow Cove" fiasco. In short he hates TES and all who play it.
