Chapter 2: The Adventure Begins
Bravil, Five years after the Oblivion Crisis, 4E 5.
I noticed I was on a bed with only my undergarments on. I slowly opened my eyes as I felt a hand touch my cheek, caressing it even. With my vision blurred however, I only noticed a red haired figure sitting beside me, wearing some kind of violet robe. Suddenly, realization punched me in the face. Dalriene. Quickly rubbing off the sleepiness on my eyes, which the breton reacted by backing away, I asked the woman in front of me with a very polite tone, which seemed to be raspy due to me being drunk.
"Dear noble....I....you...We...did'nt do it, I hope?" I asked bluntly, which made the breton smile strangely. She then leaned forward, to the point I can tell that our nose made contact to each other. Staring straight into my eyes, she whispered:
"Hmm....straight to business, are we? I like men like that, always going straight where their headed. Sadly, no, my curious pup. We did not share that pleasure." Great. Now I'm called a pup, by someone, lovely by the way, who I thought I went to bed with. Nonetheless, I replied with:
"Really? 'Tis a relief then. Strange. I do wonder why I'm on my undergarments on, with a strange woman," I looked around the room and surely, it was my room in my house. "inside my room, touching me on the cheek." this took the breton by suprise, but tried to hide it. She just stared at the sheets, smilling small and blushing heavily. A few minutes passed and I finally said;
"Well? If you really must think for a suitable alliby, I suggest you do that downstairs. I really need to dress up.." that's when I smiled wickedly. I placed my hand on her chin, so that our eyes met and said:
"..Unless you want to help me get dressed that is."
"W..watch it, elf. You seem to forget that I'm the distributor of your archery shop."
"It was only a joke, my dear. Ple- do you hear that?" Me and Dalriene was alarmed when screamings began. I stood up, not remembering I was only on my underpants, and bolted towards my dresser. I pushed a button on my wooden dresser, and the secret door started to open itself. See, my great-great-grandfather was once a Grandmaster of his own noble house, Vredel, before it was overthrown by a rival house, known as Mytrihd in High Rock.
Not only is my mixed family rich, but all of my relatives are also trained in the arts of combat. Once the secret door opened, I noticed my old armor still shining in gold even though I didn't use it many moons ago.
The family symbol, which consists of an eagle sitting on the hilt of a sword, still sparkles on the cuirass. As I donned it, I noticed Dalriene fiddling with two elven shortwords that I didn't knew she had. After I was done I gestured Dalriene to go downstairs, while I took my mithril shield and silver longsword. Before I followed Dalriene, I took a peek outside on the window.
What I saw sent a shiver on my spine.
Houses was on fire, and many people was trying to fend off the attackers. The strange attackers worried me the most. They wore red armor and wielded steel longswords. On their shield was an emblem, which consist of a leafless tree, that I remembered.
The emblem of the foul Mytrihd. Amidst the chaos, I noticed a redguard, dunmer and a nord fighting back the oppressors on the bridge, with two guards charging the oppressors from behind and a khajiit and three bosmers helping them with bows. Again, realization punched me on the face. My friends are in trouble. As I descended downstairs I heard Dalriene say:
"Adatoriel, they're too many! We can't possibly hope to defeat them by ourselves! We need to cut our way outside with the help of the local guards! Where are they, anyway?" They are probably too drunk to even fight back, with the soberieted guards getting killed, I thought to myself. Opening the door, and decapitating the nearest Mytrihd soldier, I replied with;
"Dalriene, forget the useless guards! We need to help my friends who're defending the bridge! Follow me!" after I said this I hurried to the bridge, tackling the Mytrihd when I arrived. Gillin, the redguard wielding a large dwarven claymore, smiled at me and continued to hack away at the oppressors. Duvon, the dunmer, on the other hand, was laughing insanely while he bashed a Mytrihd soldier's skull in with his silver mace.
Vorelia, the half nord half breton, swinged her dwarven longsword while casting a spell towards the enemy. Blood sprayed when I chopped off a mytrihd's arm. I then pommelled the nearest enemy with my shield, while my sword found it's mark on the heart of an enemy beside me.
While we fought the oppressors, I noticed Dalriene slashed a man's throat from ear to ear before she threw a hidden dagger towards a mage mytrihd. Smilling when the dagger found it's mark, she shouted;
"Adatoriel, get your men and yourself back here! I have a plan!" after she finished that sentence, to what a normal man might say crazy, I nonetheless considered her plan and signalled my friends to move back. "Are you CRAZY?! If we retreat, these animal will swoop in, and slaughter the fleeing people." the headstrong woman just gave me a face and started to say som unknown words. Stabbing a mytrihd in his stomach, I suddenly heard an explosion, and the force of it knocked me off my feet. Regaining my footing, I saw what Dalriene just did.
The bridge was torn in half, with many mytrihd and Bravil guards floating dead on the waters below.
"See, I told you that I had a plan. Though, the explosion killed some of the guards. Pity."
"Yeah...You, ughh, been practicing with magick lately?" I said in disbelief. Now that we had pushed the mytrihd back, I needed some answers. Luckily, a mytrihd had survived the explosion and was left at the mercy of Duvon. Walking towards him, I withdrawed my sword and stabbed him in the leg. I ignored the screams, and pushed it more.
"Why are you here?" I asked venomously.
"..."
"Not talking? For one, I could just rip off your heart and feed it to you, or I could just let you play with my bestfriend, Duvon." And many men would just choose to do what I told them or the former. All of Bravil know that Duvon is a fearsome and violent enemy, but is a comedian and a good friend to his allies. Finally, the mytrihd talked:
"...Lord Zacgren ordered us to attack Bravil so that he can show his power to the weakened Empire. But someone is pulling the strings behind this matters.....His Lordship resides in High Rock. That's all I know, really!" giving him a slight smile, I gestured to Gillin in which he finished off the now trembling guard. This was just getting bad to worse, I thought. Crossing my arms, I heard Gillin say;
"What're we gonna do now?"
"I do not know. Perhaps we should travel to High Rock and investigate this 'Lord Zacgren'." replied Vorelia, while healing the wounds of Duvon. I turned to the direction of the castle, and sure enough, the battle is still raging.
"But first, we should liberate Bravil." I said while unsheating my sword. Now, the problem is, how can we go to the castle.
