Chapter 2
PART 1

"Here she is."
"Is she strong enough? She could die if we push her too hard."
"In that case, we make her a God, like us! No harm, no fowl."
"But she can't do her mission as a God!"
"Remind me why, again?"
"It has to be a mortal!"
"Oh. I thought we just weren't doing it because we're too lazy."
"You're too lazy. I'd be glad to save the world."
"You just want all the glory."
"That too."
"If she becomes a god, she can choose the next mortal."
"What makes you think she'll want to become a god, anyhow?"
"Ahh. I see the problem."
"Finally."

The last thing I remembered was someone saying, 'It has started', and Seth standing over me, looking over me.

It was noon, undoubtedly. The light was coming in through my eyelids, painting the world bright red, and sending images of irrelivant red things.

I opened my eyes, and gazed hazily up at Seth, who looked relieved. Then someone stood over me, a hulking dirty person, possibly a woman.

"This is Janice the Clean," said Seth, waving a hand toward the person.

"Clean?" I was surprised with my voice, which sounded higher than usual. Not squeaky, just higher.

"She got the name when she was six," explained Seth. I nodded. "Are you feeling okay?" he asked again.

"Yeah, I'm great... Why?" Seth squirmed rather uncomfrotably.

"Well... you look a little different," he said, and continued. "Janice told me that you had turned into another kind of race. This transformation occurs only with certain people of certain lineage. That's why you always looked so tiny, when you were a Nord. The thing is, you aren't a Nord, and never have been. You are a Night-Elf."

"Just how different do I look?" I asked suspiciously. Seth took out a mirror and handed it to me.

"Even more different than when you last woke up." I took the mirror, and almost fainted. There was no way that could be me. My skin was way paler, hair streaked with black, eyes flecked with red. My nose was pointed and kind of upturned, like a pixie's. Mt ears looked like any other elf's. My lips were black, like someone had recently painted them so. My almond-shaped eyes blinked. I looked down at my feet, and noticed I was much, much smaller. No-one would recognise me now.

"That's not me," I began, but Seth cut me off.

"Yes it is. And even stranger, feel your back." I did so, and to my surprise, I felt something feathery.

"What the hell?"

"Wings," explained Seth, not without a little envy.

"Wings? I have wings?"

Sorry for not writing for a while - the keyboard broke.
Yeah, I know, always with the excuses. First writers block, now this.... bla bla bla. Wtvr (means whatever in text)
PART 3

"The girl has talent."
"Correction: the night-elf has talent. With what?"
"Well, flying, for a start."
"And for an end?"
"You know just as well as I do: snappy comebacks, sword fighting, killing, archery... You name it."
"Okay. I'll name: passion, mercy, remorse. She doesn't have any of those."
"So? She doesn't need those. As a matter of fact, weren't you the one who said that that was why we chose her?"
"Yes, I was. I was only pointing out that she doesn't have complete talent. She's a good actress, though."
"I'll say. That Legion boy believes she loves him!"
"Maybe she does."
"Doubtful. She isn't capable of any kind of love."

The sun on my wings felt perfect, as I mastered the art of flapping. But guild was worming its way into every thought. What about Seth? It was obvious I couldn't have taken him, but...

I moved my wings harder, faster, hoping to leave everything behind...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seth blinked in surprise. One moment, Alex had been there. The next, she had gone. It was entirely unnatural, Seth decided. But if that was the price to pay for her...
"Where did the girl go?" demanded Janice the Clean, whose fingernails were rotting.
Seth jumped as the rough voice brought him back to earth (rather, ahem, Tamriel). "No idea."
"Maybe simontanious combustion is normal."
"That didn't happen, right?" asked Seth, worried.
"It was a joke." Seth breathed a sigh of relief. If she actually died... But he couldn't even think of it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was night, and I stared up at the sky, feeling immensely alone under the two colourful moons...

A few stars blinked down at me, and I suddenly found myself wishing I had learned more of the constellations. I knew the Warrior, the Lady, and that there could be the Thief...

"You do not remember your constellation?" asked the Emperor kindly. I shook my head, and he looked critically at me. "Perhaps... yes... I believe, Alex, that you were born under the sign of the Lover."

I shook my head frantically again, and said, "sir, aren't the signs supposed to reflect the type of person we are?"

"Yes. You will meet someone, sometime. Ahh, but I am rambling, and we are now entirely off subject."

It was possible he had seen my discomfort.
