The Chronicles of Salina Delvanni. Prolouge.
So, you have come here to ask me a bunch of questions…well sit down then. Ah yes, you wish to know my story, well relax and be patient, this will take some time, as my story is a long one. I was born to my parents Sarin and Salvaynas Delvanni, you may have heard of my sister Telina, who is widely know through out Tamriel, but she is not the subject of this story. I was born ten years after my sister was taken from my parents, so that would be year 413 of the third era…yes you heard me right, I am that old. So here now I’ll tell you all about me.
Prolouge.
I was in my tower at Odai Platform, just finished after a hard days work…this was the year 428 of the third Era. My supper consisted of a few fried kwama eggs, and some deer meat, little did I know that it would be the last time in five years I would taste normal food. Having locked the door, and warded it, I went to have my (hopefully) normal dreamless sleep. Only this time, this time it was different, I was in a cell, number 1486924, but that had to be in Cyrodiil, how could I be in a Cyrodiilic prison.
At the cell opposite of me was another Dunmer, taunting me, until some men came, fully armoured, with an old man following them. There was some words exchanged that I didn’t remember, and then they opened up a door within my cell, telling me to follow. The next part is lost, bust I stood in a room with the old man, his warriors had gone to fight some assassins. Suddenly out from a hole in the wall jumped a red robed figure forth, and suddenly he had armour all over him, as if he had used a spell. He stabbed the old man, and then everything turned to blazing fires, and an empty blackness, and then I woke up.
It was the first dream I’ve had for years, and it worried me…I didn’t know who this man was, all I knew was that our fate was now bound together, I had to get to Cyrodiil, and be imprisoned. But first, I had to seek my sister out, she would know hat to do. I promptly dressed myself in a dark robe, and grabbed a dagger with me, and then I was on the way. Azura I hate boats, I thought as I emptied he bucket of vomit yet again. But with my sister being as careful as she was, teleporting into her tower in the middle of the night, could risk strong injuries, or possibly death, she had quite a bit of arsenal on strong spells, which I’d rather not have directed at me.
The boat that was due for Sadrith Mora, passed through Zafirbel bay, and I could faintly see shimmering lights to the west, my sisters stronghold of Tel Delvanni. I thanked the captain for the ride, before I jumped into the water, and landed safely on top of it…waterwalk is just so fun at times. Naturally, my sister was a great mage, I have never said that I was any superhero yet…so I did the mistake that many mages do when they walk on water, I forgot to focus on the spell. Spitting out salt water, and cursing myself for my lack of concentration, I stepped up on land, to dry my clothes a bit. The journey took far longer than I expected, due to a rather aggressive flock of cliffracers…Oblivion I hate those creatures. Finally I stood before the door to my sisters home.
I knocked, and waited, a little minute later my sister was standing there. Telina was as always a striking person, her long silvery hair, and intellectual eyes, spoke of a person of kindness, but also it gave an immediate feel that this was someone you’d rather not get on the wrong side of.
-“Sal….what are you doing here so late at night…please come in and get some warmth back in you”, she smiled. While I sat myself down, she got a clean (and thankfully dry) robe to me. –“So sis, what is that you were wondering one”, Telina smiled at me, giving me the usual feeling of being seen right through.
-“I-I’ve had this…nightmare, I was in prison, in Cyrodiil, and old man along with his guards come through my cell…I follow them, but in the end the man gets killed by assassin, and…the world end”!!!!
She looked at me for a bit, pondering. “If I’m not entirely wrong, I’d say you’ve had a premonition, the thing you saw is true, and you have to go to Cyrodiil right away, don’t worry, I have my contacts, if you remember the cell number, I can manage to get you imprisoned in the right cell”. She looked worry, like she knew just all too well what would happen, and it scared me when she looked at me like that, but the same time comforting, she knew I would do all right, if not she would have told me.
-“But about the ending of the world, that part is more true than you know, you have seen the gates of Oblivion, I have seen them as well in my dreams, if you fail, then we all fail…the daedra will invade the lands, spilling forth from the gates, but we have to keep it a secret, there is no chance in any way that people will believe us until it starts”.
So it was the gates of Oblivion I had seen, I thought that Tamriel and Oblivion was separated by extremely intricate and powerful barriers, but if Telina said that it was the gates she and I had seen, and that daedra would storm out of them, it was true. I gave her the cell number, and she sent me off into sleep. When I woke up again, I was chained to a wall, in an imperial prison, the cell, along with a letter from Telina.
Dear Salina, I’m sorry for what I did, but it had to be done, I have siphoned away your powers, so when you become released you will have to start from anew, it way seem hard right now, but it is necessary, necessary for your survival to have a fresh start. You have a long and hard time in front of you, so save your strength, you’ll need it.
From your dear sister, Telina Delvanni.

NOTE THIS IS A SPOILER THAT SHOWS SOME OF THE LAST FINAL BATTLE IN THIS STORY IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN READING THIS PLEASE DON'T CONTINUE SCROLLING DOWN.
For the rest of you please enjoy, this scene starts after the mission to retrieve the amulet of kings.
I had just finished my rest and was about to lead the way to the Imperial City when the doors to Cloud Ruler Temple burst open and two bloodied Blades operatives entered. One of them was unmistakably dead judging by the extra ‘smile’ that stretched across his throat.
“My Lords I bring grave news”, he panted. Giving a small sideway’s glance to Martin I knelt next to the wounded Redguard.
“Tell us everything”.
The Redguard nodded and took in another lungful of air. “I was outside Cheydinhal when it happened, the-the Deadra are opening another one of those infernal gates, like the one you destroyed outside Bruma, on my way here I found the body of Alastor” he pointed to the dead Blades member next to him.
“He carried a note that said another one is opening outside Chorrol”.
Before I could curse the Gods and my particular brand of luck, Martin beat me to it in a most impressive swearing fit that would impress even my sister. “Of all the people I would never think to hear such words come out of your mouth Martin”, I said to him wile holding back a grin of amusement”.
Martin merely waved it off, “We have to divide our Forces then, those gates must be stopped”. The look of anguish on his face sent waves of pity and sorrow throughout my body as I realized he would never forgive me for my next action.
“We cannot”, I held up my hand to halt his outburst. “We have the Amulet of Kings, OUR job is to get you to the Imperial City where you can relight the Dragonfires, we cannot dived our forces into three and still keep you safe”.
His face went through a myriad of emotions before settling on indifference. “Very well, lead the way, Knight Delvanni”, the cold emotionless tone he used sent a knife of pain through me, I believe I would have preferred him yelling at me
I nodded at him while blinking away tears from my eyes. With a cautious eye I inspected the men I had with me, Jauffre, Baurus and seven other Blades in full armour. “Baurus get the Emperor his armour, I have no doubt he will need it”, Baurus gave a quick nod before jogging towards Martins room.
In my peripheral vision I caught sight of a small group of knights dressed in white and red garments led by their commander, a man whose name was know only to a few select individuals myself not included.
“Lord Crusader, I cannot in good conscience leave the Emperor, is there anything you can do?”
The Knight of the Nine turned his helmeted head towards me before stepping forward. “The Knights of the Nine will forever fight for the preservation of the Empire and its people, where do you want us?”
I smiled slightly in thanks. The Lord Crusader was a man of few words, blunt as a hammer but he was one of the best fighters I had ever heard of. “We can only save one of the cities, Cheydinhal has the largest population so I would advise you to go there”.
The Knight of the Nine nodded before removing his helmet, and I had to hold back a gasp of surprise, he was young…very young less than thirty if I had to guess, yet his deep blue eyes held a wisdom only acquired by those of old age how intriguing.
His face held a smile as he grasped my hand. “My name is Aurelius Maximus, it has been an honour to fight with you Salina Delvanni, perhaps we all go to our deaths but believe me when I say that I shall not die until that gate lies in ruins…fare thee well M’Lady”, he bent down and delivered a chaste kiss on my hand and his disciples copied their commander by bowing low, before turning and leaving, all without saying a word.
Shrugging at their strange behavior I looked back at the last remaining members of the Blades all of them veterans in combat, and ready to die for Martin in a heartbeat.
“The sacrifice of Chorrol is a regrettable if necessary loss, But now we can make a difference, We can relight the Dragonfires and send the Daedra screaming back to the depths of Oblivion, FOR THE EMPIRE”, I roared the last words while drawing Goldbrang from its sheath. My sister would probably shake her head to my words, but then again she had a lot more reasons to dislike the Empire than I did.
The entire ride to the Imperial City was spent in nerve wracking silence, and our hearts were tested as we saw the telltale signs of smoke and fire rise from Chorrol and Cheydinhal, fortunately no signs of Daedra invasion was visible in the city.
When we reached the Imperial City we went straight to the Palace to meet with the Elder Council. Fortunately or unfortunately whichever way you want to look on it the only member there was High Councilor Ocato, who stepped back slightly upon seeing me, no doubt he still remembered the fist imprint I had left on his cheek last time we met. A fight was avoided however when Jauffre informed him of Martin and why we were here.
“I must say this is a most surprising pleasure, Prince Martin as the head of the Elder Council it is my distinct pleasure to WHAT?” he yelled suddenly when an Imperial Legionnaire had burst through the door and stumbled over to them.
“The Daedra sire, they are inside the city everywhere, we can’t hold them off”.
Yet again my curses were interrupted when six Dremora burst through the door. Before anyone had a chance to react I blasted them with a dose of lightning that left them twitching on the ground. Quickly drawing Goldbrand I charged at the oncoming second wave of Daedra filth, Baurus, no matter what you get Martin to the Temple” I yelled over my shoulder as my blade clashed against the Daedric claymore of a Xivilai.
Before I could strike again he swept me away with his sword. I was a good fighter, a very good one in fact but by the nines these Xivilai were strong. His follow up strike brought me to my knees as I blocked the overhead chop with my shield and the lance of pain that blossomed in my arm told me that I had probably sprained one of the bones.
Cursing I rolled away from his second strike, and my anger started to simmer when I realized that the blasted creature was laughing at me.
“You enjoy pain do you? THEN I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS”, I shouted as I allowed a chain of lightning bolts fly from my hand, and its screams of pain as the deadly blue/white bolts cascaded over its body was music to my ears.
Spitting at the still twitching corpse I led the Blades and Royal Guards out into the courtyard of the Palace, forming a protective cordon around Martin and Ocato as we went. Outside the place was chaos, I spotted the bodies of three dead guards with a whole host of lesser Daedra surrounding them the reason no more guards were dead became apparent as I saw a group of twelve members of the Imperial Watch rain a host of arrows into the Daedra.
A huge plume of fire blasted the dozen remaining Daedra to the ground and when the smoke cleared there were nothing left of them but dust, turning quickly I spotted Ocato lovingly caressing his staff while whispering sweet nothings to it. Hiding my chill of discomfort I led us into the Temple District where all of us were immediately blasted to the ground by an unknown force.
While I waited for my vision to return I heard screams of the dying and shouts for help along with the sounds of Daedra howling and steel meeting unholy steel, and as my sight returned a wave of dread washed over me. Standing between us and the Temple of the One was the massive red skinned four armed form of Mehrunes Dagon, worse was the fact that I could count no less than seven Daedra gates scattered through the district.
“Quick protect Martin”, I yelled, yet no confirmations came, the others were either dead or unfit to fight, both Ocato and Jauffre were nursing broken legs and Baurus was unconscious if not dead, only Martin, myself and the guard captain of the Royal guards remained standing.
With lethal ferocity we threw ourselves at our enemy, fighting through the dozens of Daedra trying to stop us, I slashed as stabbed everywhere, and my magicka was at an all time low. A scream sounded beside me and the sudden splash of red liquid that hit my face told me that the guard captain had met an unfortunate end. Martin quickly stepped up beside me, bashing aside a Daedroth with his shield as he did so. We were nearly there, all we had to do was to get past Dagon and we would be inside the Temple of the One.
The next thing that happened nearly stopped my heart, Mehrunes Dagon saw straight at us, and nearly in slow motion the axe in his lower right arm swung against us, closing my eyes I grabbed Martin intending to shield him as best I could with my own body.
I screamed as the axe impacted on my back. Amazingly my enchanted Daedric armour held up and both Martin and myself were flung back to door we came from. With bone crushing impact we hit the door and feel to the ground amongst our wounded and dead allies.
“Foolish Mortals, did you really believe you could defeat me?I AM THE PRINCE OF DESTRUCTION, LORD OF CHAOS AND YOU SHALL ALL DIE AT MY FEET”, Dagon’s voice sounded like a thousand nails scraping against porcelain plates and I screamed as I held my ears.
To my dismay I found out that I had no chance of moving, my lower body was trapped under the heavy oak doors we had crashed into and Martin’s leg was bend in a strange angle, and with the pain in my chest I was sure I had more than one broken rib. Tears welled in my eyes as the multitude of Daedra enclosed on us, looking over to Martin I saw that he was oddly calm about the situation.
“It’s honour to die by your side sir”, I said as I closed my eyes for probably the last time in my life.
“It has been an honour to have lived by yours my friend”.
Looking up I saw a Xivilai standing with his weapon raised and strangely enough a look of intense fear on its face.
Before it could do anything a blast of magic so strong it rattled my bones blasted it and its compatriots away, killing several of them as they impacted on the walls. Turning my head I saw three cloaked figures step over us and halt halfway over the courtyard looking straight at Mehrunes Dagon.
“WHO ARE YOU TO STAND AGAINST ME”? He yelled at the three figures, who one by one removed their cloaks prompting gasps of surprise to erupt from the survivors in the district.
The first one to remove his cloak was golden skinned, wearing strange golden armour and his hands was holding a simple metallic staff that practically hummed with suppressed energy “Sotha Sil”, he stated with an emotionless tune.
The next one wore nothing except a small brown loincloth and his skin was half golden and half ash grey but the magic swirling around his clenched fists spoke volumes about the power of the individual opposing the Prince of Destruction. “It is I Vivec, I’m sure you remember me”, he said causing the Daedra Prince to wince slightly as he was reminded of his earlier defeat at Vivec’s hand.
My heart was in my throat as the last individual removed the cloak, Revealing a woman of relatively short stature, with ash grey skin of the dunmer. The woman had shoulder length snow white hair and she was clad in a gold and silver armour polished so great that one could reflect oneself in it and her hand clasped a bluish white claymore.
Looking back towards me she shot a small wink at me before turning towards Mehrunes Dagon. “Telina Delvanni, Dunmer Goddess of War at your service Dagon…you didn’t really think I would allow you to harm my sister now did you?” she asked innocently before a sphere of white light burst from her hand towards Mehrunes Dagon.
The Daedra Prince screamed as the small sphere impacted on his chest and it became impossible to see anything due to the white light that seemed to permeate the entire district, and I smiled to myself, the great battle of the Third Era had only just begun…
