The Moon is the result of a collision with the Earth by a Mars sized object about 3.5 billion years ago, the resulting debris from the Earth and some of what was left of the impactor was thrown into orbit...As these things do, they coalesced again over time, forming the sphere that we know and love under the influence of gravity...Again, as these things do...
The moon is so big because of the debris thrown up by the impact...Chances are The Moon as we know it wouldn't have been there without the smash, granted... Other scientists say this too...'Cause it's been, to a point, proved...Moon rock is mostly the same as the Earth rock...And no, the other planets are different chemically...Also proved... |
