An Ashlanders Tale Chapter 3 Options

Some of you may have read my first two chapter in this little adventure and enjoyed it. Well i've got alittle twist for yall. Let me introduce to you another charcter that is very important to this story. Her name is Johannes.


Chapter 3

[size=18]Johannes's Story

Here we come to a part in this adventure when another character’s plot begins to unfold. This character’s name is Johannes. She is a young female nord who grew up in the new settlement of Dagon Fel. So far her life has been completely unscathed by the war that was going on right outside her small village. However, as we all know nobody can escape war when it is already at your own doorstep. Let us begin Johannes’s story.


“Father.” Johannes asked when she saw her family rushing past them in the streets of Dagon Fel.

“Father!” He turned to look to see who was calling. When he saw Johannes his face lit up and he hurried towards her.

“Hurry daughter. A army is marching this way and I fear they have death and destruction on their minds.”

“What army? Who would want to attack our village?”

All I know is I saw a large group of soldiers coming this way and that I need to get my family out of here before the reach us.” He said in a very urgent tone.

I stared at him in disbelief but his face should too much worry and strain for him to be lying. “Ok. I must get home to gather my stuff.” I started to walk off but he grabbed my arm.

“No there isn’t enough time for that. They will be upon us at any moment we must hurry.”

I nodded and began to follow him through the village. Several people stopped to watch us in our hurry to leave but nobody looked too suspicious of us. I wondered why my father was not telling the others about this approaching army. Thy must know about them. My father would not condemn them all… would he?

“Sir! The nords have broken through the valley defenses.” Galos stopped what he was doing and stood up strait and looked north towards the place where he had left Johannes. He frowned when he saw smoke rising from the valley up into the sky. Galos jumped off the rock and began shouting orders.
“Give the order to fall back to the city! The valley has fallen. IF we don’t leave now we’ll be flanked. Go!” When the word had been spread around his command post he sat down and began drawing in the dirt. His sub commanders walked up and gathered around him to get new orders.

“As you can see in the drawing the nords are advancing through the valley north of us. Surely they will sweep down behind our forces and completely surround us. Now I’ve given the order for retreat back to the city so when we get there I want every civilian you can find to be given a weapon and shield. We have to buy some time for Marit so he can evacuate the refugees at the pick up point. Any questions?”

A commander from the back of the circle pushed through. “Sir were going to have to leave a troop behind to delay the nords until we can escape… Which troop should that be?” Galos looked around but couldn’t decide which one to choose.

“Do any of you have a full force?”

“I do sir.” Someone said behind him. Galos turned and looked at him. It was Sakruth, captain of a small group of cavalry.

“You think you can hold them?” Galos finally asked after staring at the captain for awhile.

“I know I can.” He responded quickly. The man very confident that he could do his duty. Galos admired that and wished he wasn’t sending this man to his death.

“Go then. Good luck son.” With that Sakruth saluted and ran off to his troop. Galos stood with his commanders and watched as the cavalry galloped past him towards the front line. “Good luck…”

Sakruth knew that what he was doing and that it would be the last thing he would do in his life. He reflected back on his life for the few seconds before he closed in with the enemy. There were so many things he wished he could do over and change. He could be sitting in a place of power right now far away from the fighting or he could be with all those refugees fleeing for the mainland. But alas fate had led him here to this moment so he could be in this fight. That was all he got to think about before his mount slammed into a nord and sent itself flying sideways and landing on the ground.

The nords closed in around him and were about to start cutting him to pieces when some chimer on horseback rode through them killing most with their swords and lances. Sakruth got up slowly and realized his leg was badly injured from the fall off his horse. He started limping towards a group of his soldiers surrounded by nords. When he got within striking range he threw up his sword and brought it down on the back of a nords head cutting him in two. Before the others could react he brought his sword back up and slashed it through the chests of two more nords. The rest soon fell to the rest of the chimer soldiers.

Sakruth turned around and saw an endless number of nords rushing towards him and the rest of his men. He lifted up his sword and stood there waiting for the coming storm to approach. A nord rushed ahead of his comrades and came directly at Sakruth holding his axe over his head screaming for his blood. But Sakruth knew how to deal easily with these types of enemies. He stepped out of the way of the blow and stabbed the nord in the back as his momentum carried him by. He turned around just in time to block another thrust by a nord. This one seemed to be a little more experienced than the last one and Sakruth had trouble blocking his blows. He knew it would be over soon. His leg was starting to give in and he found it hard to stand up after blocking a blow. Finally after fighting back and forth for more than a few minutes Sakruth finally fell to the ground.

“Time for you to die Chimer scum!” The nord shouted as he rose his claymore above his head. That was when an arrow struck him in the chest. The nord faltered and tried again to kill Sakruth with the arrow still stuck in him. That was when another arrow hit him. This time in the right shoulder making his drop his weapon and fall to his knees. The nord reached for the dagger at his side and was about to pull it out when he shot again. He collapsed beside Sakruth and died still trying to grab his dagger. Sakruth tried to get up and grab his weapon but before he could even sit up he was struck by arrow in the stomach. He laid there unable to move wondering if he had bought enough time for the rest to escape. Surely he had? He looked around him and saw that the command post was disserted. He had accomplished his mission and that made him glad. He died smiling.
