Last night i was a bit drunk i got all philosophic about games, specially how rpgs affect us, i mean are we like other people ? we always have a dragon, an elf, swords and magic in our mind, others dont.

Do you people think rpgs make us more creative ? more violent ? less social ?..... you get the idea.

Peronally i think they make us much more creative than the average folk.

I think you've got an interesting point about how a game like "Madden" would react to roleplaying. It's also interesting to see the roleplaying/mainstream balance in my current online RPG of choice, World of Warcraft. There are naturally a fair number of roleplayers, as the game is an RPG with fairly deep (if slightly over-the-top) lore to it, but because it is so mainstream (as MMORPGs go) there is a much larger number of people who seem to be from the shoot-em-up style mainstream mentallity. But then with games like TES, the majority of players are very interested in the lore that is so central to the game.

Simply because it's vaguely related, I'm going to post something about my own current RPG habits here: An RP-PvP server is soon coming out for World of Warcraft! Too long have we roleplayers suffered the less interesting PvE environment. Now I am all set to join a ridiculously bloodthirsty group of trolls intent on raising the troll race back to its former glory when it's empire stretched across the world! Muahaha!

On a side note, is there anyone here who plays Neverwinter Nights online? (I'm sure some people mentioned it). I'd like to get into roleplaying online, as people keep pointing it out as being superb for in-depth roleplaying, but it would be nice to start out with some help and guidance from people I know, as I am not familiar with the multiplayer aspect of the game or the way in which dungeon masters function (I have never played a pen and paper RPG, you see).
