Morrowfall Ch.1

I had done it. I had finally beaten it. Morrowind, the game that had occupied all my time for the past three months. Not particularly good, for my health or my college grades, but tonight was what it had all lead up to, I had beaten the game, United the houses, learned the truth about the temple, and defeated Dagoth Ur. Call me a geek, but I intended to celebrate.
And celebrate I did. I depleted my horde of liquor, including the Schmirnoff I had been saving for my birthday. I was good at saving things, but not at holding my liquor. These two things collided to spell my doom that night. The last thing I remember is my roommates coming back from the restaurant, me yelling at them for breathing too loud, and them falling off the loft’s edge, bottle of half-empty Captain Morgan’s still in hand.

More Story!

Chapter 9

Now, fully healed and decently, although not lavishly, outfitted, I could set about figuring out exactly how to free myself from the game.

I emerged from the Arena waistworks expecting the open, barely populated Vivec I had known while playing my character. What I saw was something entirely different. This canton, as well as all the others I could see, were packed with dunmer. Across the canal, which was filled with gondolas rowing to their various destinations, I could see someone shouting and gesturing wildly. Curiousity getting the better of me, I decided that I would go and see what it was.

The Imperial was used to public speaking, that much I could tell, and he seemed passionate. Having nothing better to do at the time, I sat on the rail of the canton's edge and listened...

"...cannot allow this to continue. This Bosmer is not the first to fall to the so-called 'saint' Nerevar and his thugs, and he shall not be the last!" A murmer of agreement rippled among the crowd. "I tell you that I KNEW the Nerevar when he was yet unknown, and, hearing of his atrocious deeds, returned here from Cyrodiil to see for myself. And mark me, if he continues to do as he has been, the emperor will not hesitate to stop him!" The affirmative air suddenly became charged with exitement. "Should we let Fargoth's death fade away into the other atrocities that he has commited? I SAY NAY!" By this time the crowd was stirred up, and a majority of them shouted with him.

Unfortunately, this was the time the blue-clad dunmer from the 'Drugs, weapons, and Alchohol Division' decided to disperse them. Having dealt with these blue armors before, I decided to make myself scarce. As I left, I could hear the Imperial shout out something about being clean, that he had reformed, that the emperor let him go.

A few minutes later I found something else to keep me interested. On the opposite side of the canton, near the gondola station, a group of men were setting up a large raised platform.

Across the canton I went, being jostled and pushed about more than I thought was proper, being the only one within sight weilding a weapon. I reached the platform just as they finished setting the platform up. Behind the stage and on the water, a large boat pulled up to the gondola dock. I could see several persons being unloaded, all of which were chained.

My morbid curiosity kept me looking on. I was not surpised when the first few were Khajiit and Argonian, but the last few were different. Imperials; well muscled, fit, and hardly looking like they were used to servitute. I wondered what they were doing at a slave auction.

The bidding began with a Khajiit female; she looked haggard and unhealthy, obviously they were saving the best for last. Perfect, as I intended to free these slaves.
