Morrowfall Ch.1

I had done it. I had finally beaten it. Morrowind, the game that had occupied all my time for the past three months. Not particularly good, for my health or my college grades, but tonight was what it had all lead up to, I had beaten the game, United the houses, learned the truth about the temple, and defeated Dagoth Ur. Call me a geek, but I intended to celebrate.
And celebrate I did. I depleted my horde of liquor, including the Schmirnoff I had been saving for my birthday. I was good at saving things, but not at holding my liquor. These two things collided to spell my doom that night. The last thing I remember is my roommates coming back from the restaurant, me yelling at them for breathing too loud, and them falling off the loft’s edge, bottle of half-empty Captain Morgan’s still in hand.

Chapter 13

He looked at me for a moment, then returned the blade to me. "If you can touch this, than you are obviously not who you seem. Although," he reflected, sitting onto a peice of a broken altar, "I don't suppose it's fair that I ask you your story without telling you mine. I am Sellus Gravius, Guard Captain of Seyda Neen, and completely responsible for the mess we're in now."

"You couldn't have possibly..." I began.

"Not just this, the fort and all. I mean EVERYTHING. Everything that has happened since 3E437 in morrowind can be directly attributed to ME. I was the captain on guard that day, I was the one who obeyed the orders, I was the last one who saw him as a prisoner."

It finally hit me. The reason I had recognized him, the reason his voice sounded so familiar, he was the guard captain the day the Nerevarine was released.

"You cannot blame yourself," I said, "it was the Emperor's bidding, he is to blame for this, not you."

"But I saw it in his eyes, I KNEW that man would do no good, and I let him go anyway."

"It's as much my fault as yours."

"YOUR fault?" He said incrediculously, "how could it POSSIBLY be your fault?"

"I was..." There was a boom, followed by the whistling of something flying through the air and the sudden beheading of the last intact tower. bits of charred wood and stone rained down on us as another cannon fired from the sea.

"We will talk of this later," Said Gravius, running towards the bridge, "right now we fight for our lives."
