Depends on the movie.
Scream made fun of that. Only the people who didn't know how to play the game died. Halloween though, was pretty straight forward, people trapped in a certain area and Myers is always just a step ahead. The movies that really follow that, "Only the idiots die," are Friday. Saw is pretty different. That movie gets you thinking about whether you really would survive.
Realistically, I'm probably that barely breathing type though the test wasn't very good, so I got You are so alive. I'm barely breathing on the sense of Jeff Goldbloom in Jurassic park, there's just something too likable about me to let me die.
EDIT: Okay, time fore my massive eye-roll...
Halloween (1978) Halloween II (1981) Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) Halloween VI: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) Halloween (7) H20: 20 years later (1998) Halloween (8) Resurrection (2002)
8 movies, read 'em an weep.

A man once asked the Buddha, "How does one escape the heat of the summer sun?"
And the Buddha replied, "Why not try crawling into the blazing furnace?"
