Marksman for me. Who wants to have their pretty skin sliced up when they could deal with the enemy from a safe distance?

A mace is a mace, whether it has spikes or not. And one with a chain would be called a "Morning Star".
A morning-star is a very specific type of
flail. All the weapons with a chain are flails. A morning star refers to a flail having one single round ball with spikes.

There are also flails that have multiple chains, flails with solid balls (no spikes), flails that have caltrop-like ends, flails with rings, flails with cylindrical weights....

...short baldes do the least damage compared to the other weapons (besides fist of course). does the game give you any advantages with stealth for using a short blade that i dont know?
Not specifically for stealth, but short blades have a much greater attack speed than all the "big and heavy" weapons. With the big weapons you have to reach back for a second before you can do any real damage. The short blades all have high minimum damage, and a very high attack speed, meaning that you can do near-full damage even if you click as fast as you can. This is especially nice if your short blade is enchanted. They're not so good for sneak attacks, but very good for wading in and taking down an enemy with a frenzy of stabbing.
