Advice for a new player., Class Help. Options

I am buying Oblivion as my first ES game.

I'd like to start my first character as I type of 'spellsword'. I couldn't find any actual info on classes on the elder scrolls site, so I thought I'd turn to you guys for help.

For my 7 primary skills, I thought of including the following:
Destruction and Alteration (dmg spells + lock picking etc, both using will power)
Heavy Armour, Block and Blade (Str+ Endurance. Obviously these for a warrior type build).
Also, how about Conuratio nfor cool weapons. This would need Intelligence, though....

After this, I'm dumbfounded. Please can someone help me out with what to take for the rest of my skills, minor skills, and attributes.

One addition, from what I understand (and obviously we'll know more when the game is released) magic users will gain more powerful items if they're focusing on magic. Not heavy armour, long sword etc. It could be that by mixing skills from different styles (combat, magic, stealth) you might miss out on some benefits. Which was a flaw for me in Morrowind, as you could basically become like a God who'd mastered all the abilities. Not long to wait and see now
