Here's the link to Chapter I of Arthago's tale.
http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/forums/ind...?showtopic=1782

We can get this new chapter over with. I can also tell you that after this chapter, Arthago will move to a new province. I'm not telling though, you have to be on your guard. Well, blabbering over, here's the begining of the newest chapter of Arthago's tale. Enjoy!

~~~
I found myself in an icy Arena, fighting someone I didn't know. He was a tall Imperial, wearing ebony plates under his blue cloak. He wielded a great mace which gave him supernatural power. He lunged at me with a ferocity I had never seen before, forcing me to put all my strength into evading his blows. He had a red in his eyes which froze the blood in my veins. What did he want? Why was I fighting him? I woke up in my inn bed after managing to hit this powerful foe. I was sweating heavily, and my head was banging. It had been a nightmare, a very realistic one. I hoped that this I wouldn't experience this kind of nightmare ever again.
Nightmares and monstrous foes aside, I had a meeting with the king of Sentinel and I didn't want to be late. I took a look at my armour. It had some patches of dirt on it, the weather in Sentinel was very windy at the time so sand storms often engulfed the city. I gave the armour a quick scrub with a cloth then put it on. I wanted to look my best if I was going to meet the King and talk affairs of state with him. I made my way downstairs and after greeting the regulars I was on my way to the palace. I decided to collect Marshall Daron from his house first. When I reached his house, I found him shaved and wearing some expensive clothes. So the Marshall had an official side to him eh?
"Are you ready sir?" I asked.
"Ready as can be, let us be off!" Marshall Daron said. And with that we were on our way to the palace.
We reached the palace soon enough, and entered the throne room. The king wasn't wearing his crown or any fancy clothes. This must have seemed like an unofficial meeting to him. Whatever. I greeted him.
"Greetings sire! We have come to discuss the subject of Lord Kain's murder." I said in an official tone.
"Yes. Lord Kain was, a good man. But sadly, the ambitions of another got into the way and he was murdered in cold blood." the King said in a sad voice.
"Aye. Lord Vhosek." Marshall Daron said.
"Yes. Lord Vhosek's personal ambitions were to rule his own province. He has it now, in the form of Lainlyn. The terms I agreed with him were that, if Lord Kain refused to rule in our name Lord Vhosek could slay him and rule the province himself. It seems Lord Vhosek didn't even propose any terms, he just plain murdered Lord Kain. If I were to send soldiers to arrest him, he could go to the kingdom of Wayrest and start a war with us. I can't have that, the men have just returned to their homes after a war. We must wait and somehow bring Lord Vhosek to justice." The king said.
"I know how." I said.
"And how may that be Arthago?" Marshall Daron asked me.
"I will go to Lord Vhosek's palace in Lainlyn and slay him myself. I can't let Lord Kain's murder go unpunished." I said in a bold tone.
"Bold words for someone so young. How will you get past Vhosek's guards? He has his own knight order to protect him." The king said. He was right, I was geting too bold for my own age and experience.
"Yes, you are right my king. But what shall we do? Lord Vhosek might as well build his power in Lainlyn and start a war with us. We must neutralize him. If he lied to your Majesty and murdered Lord Kain just to gain power then he doesn't feel any fear towards your Highness." I said.
"Aye, true words. I must say that you have a great ammount of political savy my boy." the king said. Wow, beeing aknowledged by the king felt great.
"I have heard that some rebellious groups have been popping up in the north of the kingdom. Maybe Lord Vhosek has already started his movements?" Marshall Daron said.
"Unprobable, but we must check into it. We cannot risk Lord Vhosek making troop movements in our own backyard. You are to look into it Arthago." the king said.
"I would be proud my king. Where must I go?" I asked.
"Go to the town of Verkath, south west of Skaven, and inspect the situation there. Come back and report once you've found any evidence of troop movements alright?" Marshall Daron said.
"Aye, I'll be on it right now. I'm off to pack my things and any suplies I might need on the journey. Farewell my king! I shall return once I find enough evidence of troop movements." I said in an anxious tone. Finally, a new quest, not just any quest, a quest from the King! And with that I was off to the market to buy some food and water.
And that's the first bit of this chapter. It was kind off short, but the next one will be longer, I promise you. And if some of you missed the last update of the first chapter then you should check it out. Cheers!
Here's the latest update in my "epic" story. Well, it's not quite epic now, but later you'll see.
~~~
Shortly after the scuffle with those wretched pirates, the port of Daggerfall was in sight. It was truly a great city, stretching out as long as the eye could see. On a grasy hill, the castle from which old King Gothryd ruled was in sight. His reign was troubled at first by the haunting of Daggerfall. A marauding army of ghouls and wrestless spirits wandered the streets at night. The problem was solved by a mysterious agent who was rumoured to be sent by Uriel Septim the VII himself. Still, the city was now a peaceful and prosperous place, the capital of one of the greatest Breton Kingdoms. From what I read of recent conflicts it seemed Daggerfall never got along pretty well with its neighbor, the merchant Kingdom of Wayrest ruled by Queen Elysana. But all of these conflicts were none of my concerns. My concerns were to watch over the King who had lost almost all of his guards in the pirate attack.

After the ship landed we left Captain Thassad to tend to his men who were quite a wrestless bunch. They would wait for our return to take us back to Sentinel a few days later. We made our way to Castle Daggerfall where King Gothryd and King Lhotun's sister, Queen Aubk-i, waited for us. King Lhotun had 3 other siblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister. The 2 brothers were Prince Greklith and the ill-fated Prince Arthago, with which I shared my name, together with their older sister, Princess Aubk-i. The last one was sent to Daggerfall as spoils of war after the War of Betony where their father, King Camaron died. At first Queen Aubk-i had a precarious relationship with King Gothryd, but after some time they started loving and caring for eachother. The Bretons, wicked snakes they are, never liked our Redguard Queen. Truth be said, the Bretons have never apreciated us Redguards for our skills. Neither have we apreciated them for their feeble magic skills. The feeling is mutual, so to say.

We soon reached Castle Daggerfall under the veil of the noon sun which reflected itself on my armour. The Breton guards all made way to the colourful Redguard envoy. At the top of the stairs leading to the Castle we found King Gothryd with Queen Aubk-i beside him. They were both quite happy to see King Lhotun return to Daggerfall after last year's visit. After formally greeting eachother the rulers entered the great hall of Castle Daggerfall for a feast in our honour. The food was all Breton and I hated it! I tried not to be rude by not eating so I took the food and threw it under the great table to make it seem as if I was eating. The table was full with Breton nobility, up-stuck men who spoke in funny accents and dressed funny. The only Redguards there were King Lhotun, the 2 advisors that King Lhotun had with him, Queen Aubk-i and myself. After the meal, King Gothryd summoned King Lhotun to his chambers. Since the King quite trusted me he took me along.

Gothryd had luxurious chambers compared to what I had seen before, a lavish bookshelf filled to the brim with rare books wrapped in fine leather covers, a double bed made of fine wood and a suit of royal armour bearing the sign of Daggerfall, the Dragon. Gothryd seemed pretty uneasy with me there but King Lhotun soon calmed him.
"Ah, um you didn't tell me you were bringing him along." King Gothryd said, unsure of himself.
"Nothing to worry about my friend. What is it that bothers you?" King Lhotun calmly asked, not being bothered by me one bit.
"Well, I'm, um, unsure of one of my vassal's loyalties." King Gothryd said still stuttering.
"Lord Bridwell I presume?" King Lhotun said in a wise voice. Lord Bridwell, even though he was old, was still a power in the Kingdom of Daggerfall. Alot of men respected him and he had alot of regional Lords and Counts of Daggerfall on his side.
"Yes, Lord Bridwell. Ever since my father died he had one eye on the throne. He even wanted to take over the Kingdom 10 years ago! Can you help me my ally?" King Gothryd asked, gaining confidence and being less bothered by my presence.
"You want to hear the easiest solution to this problem?" King Lhotun said.
"Well, yes. That's why I called you here." King Gothryd said.
"Kill him." King Lhotun simply said in a calm voice as if he wasn't talking about a man's life.
"Kill him? But he is a great military leader and he has alot of soldiers in his lands!" King Gothryd said, protecting his vassal.
"Many soldiers? To kill you perhaps. He is too dangerous to keep around and I'm sure he can be replaced. To show you how easy this is, I'll send my bodyguard to slay him." King Lhotun said, slowing his voice when he reached the final phrase. Wait a minute! His personal bodyguard? But that's me! He wants me to go and kill the best Breton warrior there ever lived?
"Umm, I think you are beeing kind of rash Sire." I said in a scared voice. Facing Lord Bridwell was a scary idea.
"Nonsense! Where's your courage Arthago? He's just an old man, do you think he still has the fighting instinct in him?" King Lhotun said, giving me confidence. He was telling the truth, who knows when Lord Bridwell last fought and enemy?
"Great! I'll arange transport to his estate at once!" King Gothryd said, glad he wasn't risking his men. If Lord Bridwell did defeat me, King Gothryd could say that the Redguards in Sentinel did it. King Lhotun either wanted a war with Daggerfall desperately either he had absolute trust in my skills. I think it was the first.

With that done, I was ready to board a carriage that would take me to Bridwell Hall, a few miles out of Daggerfall. I soon made my way to the East Gate where the carriage awaited me. I soon boarded and was on my way to Lord Bridwell. Great, I was on the way to my certain death. What the hell was I thinking when I accepted that offer? I couldn't back off now, I had to do it. King Gothryd didn't even give me a pretext for why I was there! What should I say if Lord Bridwell asked me why I was there? That the King wanted me to kill him after some small talk? I was certainly doomed...

This is the end of this more boring chapter when compared to the others. I hope you've enjoyed it thus far.
