Oblivion is kind of like a romantic relationship. First of all there is all the frenzy and oogling, then you've got the smiles of witty dialogue as you gaze longingly at each other, then you go on adventures and have a magical time, oblivious to the fact that your entire life is now revolving around each other. You go all hot and heavy for a few weeks, and then you reach a natural level where you really can go no further. Sure, you start changing things around to spice up the relationship, but gradually you see each other less and less, before eventually you find that there is something else you've got your eye on. So, you start making tenative approaches at that, and before you know it Oblivion has been shelved in that folder of your PC reserved only for the 'occasional' play, and you start the process over again.
Maybe in a few months you'll wonder 'what if?' and restart, and you'll have the joy all over again breifly, but it's never as good as the first time.
