He sounds just fine to me. And he's definitely not too uber. Welcome aboard. And about factions, there are 2 at the moment.
1: Veric's gang: The bad guys, led by an uber Breton who is the big baddy here. (Veric, Hecate, anyone I missed.) 2: The coulourful gang of mages, thieves, assassins and the undead: These are the 'good' guys. They're all trying to protect the pregnant Brianna because the bad guys want her and her children dead. I'd say that this faction is the most interesting personality-wise. (Brianna, Serene, Telina, Rahvin, Sadril, Flint, Fervus, anyone I missed.) Edit: the bad guys make up for their numerical weakness by being more powerful individually. At least Veric can go one-on-one with any of the good guys and win easily. hecate is a bit weaker, but he's beaten Flint a couple of times so he isn't the weakest character around.
