Has anyone been looking at Windows Vista, the new OS beta that Microsoft is putting out? It's supposed to be a lot more secure than any previous Windows operating system because it doesn't rely on kernel technology so much.

I have heard previously that it is supposed to be a Game Platform OS because of it's supposedly vibrant graphics. But I don't really see that feature being emphasized in the ads and commentary from Microsoft about it yet.

Here is a link - what do you think? Or as HyPNO says .... DISCUSS.

ps-I am by no means shilling for Microsoft. It's just that I'm a bit disappointed with the advertising thinking it was going to be very game oriented.

Windows Vista will be very good for graphics since it will feature DirectX 10. The downside is that you'll need a new DX10 compatible graphics card as well.

Not sure if this link will take you to the correct place, but I'll try:

It should show a 'before and after' example of how Flight Simulator X looks with and without Win Vista and DX10. Don't know if anyone else here is a flight sim fan like me, but believe me when I say that this is a great look for a flight sim! Remember the entire world is featured, so the textures etc. are generic. Imagine what the graphics of 'normal' games like Oblivion could look like, where developers can concentrate on a small area with much better graphics.

(Edit: If you browse to the next page in that thread (click 'Neste' towards the bottom of the page) you'll see some other nice screenshots of FSX. This is with standard Win XP/DX9, but still looks pretty nice. MS have also released a demo of FSX that you can try. They've never released a demo of one of their flight sims before)
