Well here's this weekend's CD listening:
The Undying Darkness - Caliban
Alive or Just Breathing - Killswitch Engage
The End of Heartache - Killswitch Engage
As Daylight Dies - Killswitch Engage
The Fall of Ideals - All That Remains
Gone Forever - God Forbid
Constitution of Treason - God Forbid
Origo- Burst
The Poison - Bullet for My Valentine
The theme this weekend is playing basically all my metalcore collection. I just got the new Killswitch CD, As Daylight Dies, and I'm quite happy with it. I'm actually listening to "The Arms of Sorrow" off that album right now. I actually like their new one more than The End of Heartache, simply because they musicianship and vocals have improved once more. But it's still the relative same formula for them. Hopefully for their next release they try something a little different or take a few risks. But I certainly enjoyed this new one. "This is Absolution" is a friggin' beast!
I've also been listening to a lot of Into Eternity lately. I recently just got their last two CDs, 2006s The Scattering of Ashes, and 2003s Buried in Oblivion. Basically to describe them, I would call them an "extreme" power metal band, since they use all sorts of different vocal styles. Most of it is sung though in a progressive metal / power metal style, that makes it super catchy. The Buried in Oblivion CD in particular has a very Dream Theater guitar sound to them, just with harmonizing arpeggios and the shredding solos. Though the song "Black Sea of Agony" has a definite Dream Theater mid-tempo kinda groove to it. But still, it's amazing stuff, particular for fans of guitarwork.
Oh yes, and they're from Canada, I forgot to mention that!

From the middle of nowhere too, Regina Saskatchewan.
