This was very tense and loaded with suspense and emotion. You really depicted everyone very well! When you do something, you certainly do it on a big scale! How cute to see Maxical still thinking that Janus is the missing husband of Ivana Humpanox. Very stirring to see Fathis' display of what a priority Maxical is to him, and equally so to see our kitty jump to his defense. One couldn't help but be proud of both of them. And finally, Damien's long gathered big bag of dirt on Janus begins to prove its value. This was great fun to read, mALX!

QUOTE(ghastley @ Feb 25 2011, 11:08 PM) QUOTE(Rachel the Breton @ Feb 25 2011, 04:37 PM) It's time, methinks, to roast some vampires -- and Janus may be immortal, but it would be interesting to see what a silver stake through his heart would do... Mankor Camoran's Paradise gives us a better option - the perpetual roast dipped into lava in a cage. I've never been a vampire at that point in the MQ, but with the extra weakness to fire from the Bands of the Chosen, it could be seriously not fun. mALX has already mentioned the perpetual imprisonment option for punishing an immortal, the lava is just garnish. Ohhhh, now that is sheer genius.

@ Thomas Kaira - Thank you so much TK !!!
Traven in game always did the right thing in the end, but he would be paralyzed by fear first for a few days - totally freaking out and unable to act - he looked like he may pass out cold (in game) when you tell him the KOW is back. - when it comes down to it he'll get hold of himself, it isn't in him to turn on friends.
Foxy just put it to him, he has to make a choice and realize he's making it now. No doubt he'll do the right thing.
Foxy just handled it the way Traven should have the instant he knew the Immortal was acting on his nature - after all, Traven had Fathis and the might of the whole Mages Guild behind him, he could easily have staged this coup himself . When he didn't, he backed Fathis into a corner.
Unfortunately, neither Fathis or Foxy knew Malan's army would get in on the act.
*** @ King Coin - Thank you so much - and for not going after Maxical, lol !!!
*** @ Rachel - It's funny you should say that - (I wondered myself - if Janus is immortal - what would happen if the Orc shredded him, lol). Thank you so much Rachel !!! -
I totally agree with you, I may have to PM Ghastley next time I'm looking for a great idea on "Ways to make a vampire wish they'd never messed with you!"
*** @ Ghastley - Oh, I love how your wicked mind thinks !!! AWESOME IDEA !!! WOO HOO !!! Thank you so much Ghastley !!!
*** @ Acadian - Thank you so much Acadian !!! You mean Iwana Humpanox? - ROFL !!!! You ROCK, Acadian !!! WOO HOO !!
*** @ Arcry - I need you to write all my Black Horse Courier articles from now on - I LOVE your quick summary of events !!! Thank you so much Arcry !!!
*** @ Grits - ROFL !!! Maxical displaying her ignorance has no right timing, lol. Damien is "Foxy" in more ways than one, lol. I am so tickled Foxy let me keep him in this story - I loved him in the original too!! Thank you so much Grits !!!

** There is a special cameo mention of Mrs. Treydog in this chapter. Thanks Treydog, Mrs. Treydog!!!
** There is a special cameo mention of Foxyâs character, Damien Reynard - AKA âThe Black Foxâ (AKA âFoxyâ). Thank you Foxy !!!
@ EVERYONE - For this and the upcoming chapters, I will be trying to give a breakdown of everything that is happening within the factions as the countdown to war is rapidly drawing to an explosion. Each faction will be listed in its own segment or chapter. To do this on a correct timeline would require way too much switching back and forth between factions, so I have presented each faction's actions in whole form - that means some things may occur with Maxical, but when you read Jak's part it actually starts AT THE SAME TIME OR BEFORE the update on Maxical ended. That happens in this chapter. I hope it doesn't become too confusing, let me know.
Chapter 97: Death Or Discovery
âYooew!â The place on my tongue where Azuraâs seal bound me to Gils began a painful burn by the time I was getting close to the center of the Arena. Instinctively I knew that was from being distant from GilsâŚbut why would it have just now started hurting when I had been far from him all day in Jackâs box?
As soon as my foot touched the grating over the pit I spun around and scanned the mezzanine for Fathis. My stomach twisted sickeningly. He was no longer standing near the ledge where I had last seen him. A vapor seemed to shimmer against the ancient stone wall, distorting my view till even distinguishing the forms moving became impossible as they melted into a blur.
âFATHIS!â I screamed as loud as I could, but my voice hung ineffectually in the air around me, not even echoing off the stone walls of the Arena. It was like standing in a vacuum alone out here, a voidâŚdead silence, not even the sounds from the seething mass of giants milling on the mezzanine.
When time and space meet it leaves a pocket of nothing where they touchâŚfor the second time today I felt wedged in that fold where even the blackness of the void doesnât reach and the gods make wagers on the outcome of lives caught in the âtween.
âFAARRROOWGGAATHARRRROOOWIISSS!â The feeling of being helpless and alone strangled in my throat as an unbidden feral cry of fear rose up from deep inside me and melded with the words as if a beast were trying to talk for the first time.
Through the blur of my tears I caught the glimmer of sunlight reflecting off Fathisâs sword in my hand. Abstractly I noticed the hilt was cold against my skinâŚwhy hadnât it warmed to my touch? Dear godsâŚâNOOOOOOOOOOO!â I screamed, stumbling as I ran blindly back toward the spot I had last seen Fathis.
***
The sound of Fathisâs sword clattering against the gate rails below me was the first realization that I had dropped it in the climb. My toes tipped and swayed trying to hold my balance as I stretched my arm as far as it would to catch the railing of the mezzanine, the glass armor Fathis gave me grating against the stone of the wall.
It was too far, the center of gravity lost and I felt myself tipping in slow motion; heard the stones gouging the breastplate of my cuirass as I slid sideways across it, grabbing wildly to hold on.
With relief I felt my arm grabbed and held firmly, someone had caught me and was pulling me up. I grasped the arm back with my hand and clung for dear life, scrambling to grab the rail with my other hand as soon as I was level with it.
It felt like many arms pulling me over the railing, too many armsâŚI knew before I looked up as my feet touched the deck and my legs crumbled beneath me, knew what I would see. Vampire faces, a sea of them mutely staring at me.
There is no way of knowing how to discern intent when eyes are glowing red and pink, and silent. FearâŚit reaches a point where it has no where to go, and just goes away. It didnât really matter what they were going to do, because I had no way to stop them.
Through the gaps of legs I sought the gloss of Fathisâs armor where he had last stood, even if he was downâŚI had to know. It wasnât his armor that caught my eye, but blood pooled and spattered where Fathis had been standing fighting when I last saw him.
A keening rose from deep within me, choking my throat till I couldnât breath as I crawled toward it bumping between the massive legs that surrounded me. Before I reached it, as if suddenly by miracle the sea of legs parted. The vampires seemed to stand aside and make a corridorâŚand at the end of it Fathis emerged from the midst, unhindered by the creatures around himâŚsunlight gleaming off his armor like a halo. Was it a vision? His ghost?
âFathis?â
My eyes darted back to the massive amount of blood where I had last seen himâŚit was still thereâŚyet here he was, walking toward me uninjured; not being attacked. Neither was I. Was I dead too?
***
âCome, whatâs wrong then?â
His hand was stretched down to me. I poked at the hand with one fingerâŚsure it would go right through. It didnât. When I pinched the skin, he didnât react, but when I bent his finger backward he said âOWâ âŚand his hand felt warm.
âFATHIS!â I tried to scramble up but couldnât stand, my legs trembled and shook with weakness. He lifted me into his arms and carried me while I hugged him and plastered his face and neck with kisses.
âYou were supposed to be in the pit, what do you do up here then?â
âFathis, I couldnât stand it if you were goneâŚyouâve always been there. I love you Fathis, I always haveâŚalways will.â I was crying, couldnât stop.
âYou stop those tears, Maxical. You see I am fineâŚâ He leaped down to the gate carrying me in his arms and balanced easily and gracefully on the top of the gateâŚlithe and athletic like a cat.
A sickening feeling lurched and churned in my stomach, my mind flashed to the pools of blood where Fathis had beenâŚthe lack of injuries anywhere on him nowâŚthe vampires clearing a path for himâŚas if he was their leader. This was not Fathis. Fathis has never called me MaxicalâŚnever. Where was heâŚwho was this, and why would he impersonate Fathis? There was no doubt he was wearing Fathisâs armor, it carried his scentâŚbut where Fathisâs neck smelled of it, this manâs did not.
We had reached the pit where the seal on my tongue that bound me to Gils had burned so badly such a short while ago. There was no moon sugar on the seal like there would be if Gils was near, but the seal didnât burn from his absence this time.
It struck me earlierâŚI had sat with the Immortal all day, Gils no where near usâŚand my tongue had not once burned from his absence. Both times I was in the mezzanine it hadnât burned eitherâŚa mezzanine filled with vampires.
I may not know who this was carrying meâŚbut I knew what. Without a shadow of doubt, this was a vampire. I donât know how or why, but the presence of them seems to effect Azuraâs seal.
Fathisâs last words to me kept echoing in my mindâŚâTHEYâRE ANCIENTS! THEY SMELL YOUR BLOODâ And now one was impersonating Fathis and carrying me into the pitâŚthe pit that had access to the sewers beneath the Imperial City where Hannibal said nests of vampires lived. Dear godsâŚAkatosh help meâŚhelp me and Fathis.
******* Jakben Imbel - Begins when Maxical parts from Fathis and heads for the center of the Arena
It was too late to react by the time Jak realized a trap had been set against Janus. Fathis must be kept alive at all costs nowâŚJak couldnât even impersonate him if he were dead. All hope would be lost if âThe Oneâ was imprisoned in a dungeon for eternity. Jak spread his wings and swooped rapidly down to the mezzanine, shimmering into human form as he landed.
âSTOP! Donât kill him! We need him alive! Take him to the Clubhouse mezzanine and send a healer upâŚthe room with the Mrs. Treydog painting. Send my Chief Minions up to me there.â
âThe guards?â
âTake their places, both in appearance and uniform.â
âImpersonate them?â
âYes, lock them in one of the storerooms. I want it to appear as if that room hasnât been breachedâŚand it must be sealed, no one in or out without my signal.â
âYes, Lord High Councilor.â
***
There was a collective gasp as the double doors to the display room opened. The light pouring in the open windows created a halo effect around the painting of the Golden Armor. It was hung to give the appearance of coming out of the sky, a breathtaking vision that left the impression one was stepping into sacred grounds or kneeling before a god. Jak paused at the threshold, rooted in awe.
âGood godsâŚâ Jak came to a quick decision. âSelect a contingent of our bestâŚI want that painting brought to Skingrad. Give orders that it be hung over the throne in the great hall. It must not be damaged, have it wrapped well so their claws donât tear it.â
âIâll order it, Lord High Councilor.â He stepped to the door in answer to a coded tap. âThey are here with Aren, My Lord.â
âWhat took so long? Donât place him near the windows, and I want him shackled. We canât afford for him to escape.â
âHeâs not going anywhere in this shapeâŚâ The man began, but Jak cut him off.
âHe canât be allowed to perish, we need him. Find out what the hold-up is on that healer.â Jak snapped his fingers at the man guarding the door, then turned back to the men dragging Fathis. âI need everything he is wearing, jewelry and all. Quickly!â
âI thought with his reputation with women heâd be hung like a Daedroth, but it ainât no biggerânâŚâ The manâs musing was cut off by Jak.
ââHeâs Dunmer, donât make the mistake of underestimating him. That man is sly asâŚâ Jak had turned away as he spoke to pull the greaves on, but suddenly spun around and stared hard at the bloodied inert form of Fathis. âSly as aâŚFOX! It couldnât beâŚbut who else could have devised a scheme like this?â
âMy Lord?â
âNothingâŚfor now. I have just discovered my opponent to be a more worthy one than I had anticipated. It means we will have to be extraordinarily cautious that our plan is not hindered. This war will be an excellent blind for our activities, order them to continue the attacks until I give word to stop.â Jak calculated rapidly in his mind how best to counter the trap Fathis had led Janus into. âContact our operative in the Crimson Scars, we need them to act now.â
***
âVicente is Crimson Scar, and right here at the Arena. You wanted him out of the Imperial City anyway, maybe a hint would send him to warn themâŚâ
Jak gaped and scowled simultaneously at the man. âThe only thing Vicente is capable of handling is his [censored]. This has to reach Greywyn Blenwythâs ears immediately, not be whispered into every female patch between here and Leyawiin. Do as you are bid and only contact our own.â
âYes, Lord High Councilor, I apologizeâŚâ
âWhile weâre on the subject, Iâd like to know why Vicente is here at the Arena and I had to learn it by sighting him.â
âErâŚI started to bring you the information, butâŚthe Khajiit wasâŚerâŚstroking your belly. We felt it best not toâŚerâŚdisturb, My Lord.â
Jak made an exasperated sound and opened his mouth to speak, but a tap on the door interrupted.
âItâs the healer, My Lord.â
Jak waved for him to come in, then pointed him over to Fathis. He signaled his minion.
âChoose someone of trust to bring me reports on our losses in each sector right away.â Jak buckled the cuirass and slid Fathisâs ring on.
âWe lost quite a number in the Arena just now. That Khajiit used some kind of exploding fire. And that oneâŚâ He pointed at Fathisâs prostrate body. âIâve never seen anyone cast as fast as him.â
âI saw that too. Iâm still debating whether we should cure him of our disease or let it ride. We could use someone like him.â Jak paused, watching the healer work on Fathis. âDonât cure it till I give the wordâŚIâll let you know when I decide.â

Eeeeeeeeeeeee! I will be sleeping with my eyes open tonight! My mind is awhirl with possibilities. A portable silver lava fountain so Maxical can bring Janus everywhere and be with Fathis without a burning tongue?! *Grits brain explodes*
And then after the terror and drama on the mezzanine, Jak and his minions, hilarious! And still scary!! Yay, mALX!!!

Dear, god, Maxical... could you please kill that idiot Jak?! Slowly, if you don't mind, he needs to suffer for this. As I expected, Fathis's life is now in jeopardy, and Jak be Nimble with the Candlestick is now impersonating him for his own dastardly deeds. What they are, nobody knows, but Maxical is obviously central to his plans. Now he needs to figure out a way to get Umbranox Hassildor back on his side before Damien and Traven ruin everything. Can they get him out of Jak's reach in time, though? Let us hope his plans for Maxical do not involve her dying any time soon.

I'm beginning to lose track of who's on what side, how many sides there are, and whether Corvus Umbranox is really Agronak's daughter.
Just don't reveal Maxical as the villain all along! (she's really Caranya in disguise, right? or does she just think she is?)

* @ Grits - Thank you so much Grits !! - Carrying Hassildor around in a silver fountain - ROFL !!! Can you imagine? "What is that thing you are dragging behind you?" "Just an immortal vampire..." "Turn your head, Janus! Fathis and I would like some privacy now..." ROFL !!! Oh, well...he is immortal, maybe she could just cut off his pinky toe and it would survive - she could carry just that part around, ROFL !!! Thank you again, Grits !!! *** @ King Coin - Thank you so much, King Coin !! You are right, she does always carry the silver dagger. I didn't bring it out in the chapter because of the situation (so many enemies) - I am tickled you remembered that about her though !!! You ROCK !!! Thank you again, King Coin !!! *** @ Acadian - Thank you, Acadian. I am about speechless from your kind words, Thank you so very much !!! That means A LOT to hear !!! ** mALX died with a smile on her face ** *** @ Thomas Kaira - GAAAAH !!! I made the mistake of killing off Maxical in the original story, lol. Thank you so much TK !!!! *** @ Ghastley - I am so glad you brought that up !!! Several people have mentioned that to me too, so the below inset will hopefully help some. Maxical...a villian? GAAAAH !!! NEVER !!! ROFL !!!! She might be dumb as a brick, but she is never evil or mean, lol. Thank you so much Ghastley !!! QUOTE @ EVERYONE - The "Prelude To War"
War is on the horizon. Every war starts with a build-up of friction and tensions between factions before the actual military engagement begins.
That is what is beginning to happen in the story. As you probably noticed in the last few chapters, things have started moving very quickly.
This "Prelude" of friction building has to be chaotic, but I promise everything settles down A LOT once the war actually erupts.
During this "Prelude to War" section (which covers a number of chapters, some of which have already posted) - It is probably as hard for me to keep up with all the factions as it may be for the reader.
What has been helping me keep up with it is a list of the factions involved, and I thought that may be helpful to the reader as well.
Right now the story is broken down into the factions listed below:
"Prelude to War" - Factions:
Vicente & the Dark Brotherhood - Minor role Agronak - Major role Maxical, Fathis, Gils - Major role Alix & S'Jirra - Minor role Damien "Foxy" Reynard - (The Black Fox) - Major role Jak, Seridur, & Janus Hassildor - Major role Dagoth-Malan and his Army of Giants - Major role Greywyn Blenwyth and the Crimson Scars - Minor role The Legion & Pilus - Minor role The Bloodworks (Owyn and Andronicus) - Minor role The Hero of the People - Azzan - Minor role Hannibal, the Arcane, and the Mages Guild - Major role
The Vampire Hunters (breakdown below) - Minor role
Fakes: Order of the Virtuous Blood & Raynil Dralas Real: Eridor and his gang
********************************
** When the "Prelude to War" section ends and the war begins, the number of factions will drop drastically - there will be very few factions to keep up with after that.
If anyone's head is spinning, need anything clarified, PLEASE tell me.
I never mind explaining either by PM or by posting clarifications on the thread - whichever is most helpful -
Or if needed I am never averse to rewriting sections if it will make the story more enjoyable or clarify it better for the reader.
- I hope you find it enjoyable, if not - LET ME KNOW PLEASE, lol.

* Here is an update of all that is going on. Each time I add a chapter I will try to update it if this will help anyone - I know with the chaos of the friction between the different factions it is hard to keep up with, I've been having trouble myself, lol. QUOTE Factions:
Vicente & the Dark Brotherhood - Minor role
- Has the ability of illusion to alter his appearance when his powers are high and/or impersonate anyone (as long as they are alive) - this can be used to hide his vampire features. (similar to the illusion Jagar Tharn used to impersonate Uriel Septim for 10 years) - this can be used to hide his vampire features. - Vicente plans to bring both Malvulis and Maxical back to Cheydinhal with him - Vicente is a Crimson Scar, tightwad & womanizer
Agronak - Major role
- The Gray Prince, Grand Champion of the Arena - Son of the ancient vampire Lord Lovidicus and Luktuv gro-Malog - Stepbrother of Gils, has been exerting mind control over Gils since early childhood - Murdered Gils father with poison after exerting mind control to leave himself as primary heir - Murdered his own mother Luktuv with poison - Killed Lord Lovidicus, contracted vampirism in the fight - Attempted to murder Gils, threatened to try again - Threatened to murder Maxical - Murdered the performing bear - Murdered an unknown man (the missing agent of "Foxy's" that was watching Vicente) - Murdered Shady Sam
Maxical, Fathis, Gils - Major role
Maxical:
- Orphaned at unknown age, Legion guessed at 2 yrs old (currently almost 18 years old) - Mixed race, Kawa Khajiit and human - Mother - Shivani, died in Minotaur attack on road near Skingrad - Father - unknown at this time, Imperial
** Khajiit:
- "Blue Show" - denotes female Khajiit has reached sexual maturity, virgin, turns purple after virginity lost
- "Started" (started into mating cycle) - Female Khajiit normally have to be started by a male Khajiit's barbs - Maxical is mixed, and can be "started" without mating. A female Khajiit becomes "Bound for life" to whomever "starts" her.
- "Bound" (bound for life or sealed) - When Azura bound leopard to human, she placed a mark on their tongue that they could never bring the promiscuity of their leopard ancestry (their beast nature) to their new human forms. The mark on the tongue is called a "seal" and it is a permanent lock binding the female Khajiit to whomever starts her. When their mate is near, the "seal" on the female's tongue oozes moonugar, a highly addictive treat to Khajiit. So technically, they become addicted to the presence of their mate. When their mate gets a distance from them, the "seal" becomes painful - the further away they get, the more painful it becomes. If the mate dies, the pain becomes unbearable, and the female Khajiit usually ... follow their mates to the grave.
Maxical and Fathis:
- Fathis paid for Maxical's schooling at the Arcane University through graduation. - Maxical pledged herself to Fathis Aren, her schoolgirl crush - owes enormous debts to him - he never answered. They never even held hands due to him being her benefactor and his reputation as womanizer. - After an argument (over the Golden Armor he gave her) Fathis didn't speak to her again or see her for over 7 months - (till just recently) - Unbeknown to both Fathis and Maxical, Fathis has been under a mind control spell since the argument over 7 months ago to stay away from her - (put on him by Janus Hassildor)
Gils and Maxical:
- Maxical's first real boyfriend, her first kiss - Swore marriage vows together - no witnesses, not considered legal - Gils taught Maxical the "Dunmer Mysteries" (except the 7 that involve mating, which Maxical refuses to do due to her promise to Fathis).
** "Dunmer Mysteries" - Azura's gift to the Chimer (now Dunmer) - To keep divorce and promiscuity from the Chimer, Azura gives the gift of "marital mysteries" that a husband can only teach his first wife or face severe consequences. (They keep the Dunmer Male faithful to his wife. Since Dunmer live so long, and the man can never teach them again, divorce is very rare in Dunmer - and the widows of Dunmer men are highly sought).
Maxical, Fathis, and Gils:
- After catching Maxical and Gils together in Anvil, Fathis made Maxical vow to break it off with Gils. She agreed, and stood by agreement for the next month. - Unfortunately, Fathis was still under the power of Janus Hassildor, and although he kissed her a few times, he is being a total cold fish - Maxical assumes it is because she is of "beast race" - Gils almost dies, Maxical vows her life and that of her first child to Akatosh to save Gils - Fathis insists Maxical come with him to meet Uriel Septim - to whom Akatosh has revealed in Uriel's dreams that Maxical vowed her service. He extracts her vow to aid him when she turns 21. Maxical is devastated. - Maxical feels her time left is suddenly precious now that there is a deadline looming - she decides to break up with Fathis, sure his lack of desire is due to her being Khajiit and not human. - Before Maxical can break up with Fathis, he beards her in a public event and swears marriage vows in front of the press - she can't humiliate him by rejecting in public. Legally, she is only married to Fathis, but in her heart she feels married to Gils, not Fathis. - Gils gave Maxical wedding ring - Gils "started" Maxical, but she has retained her virginity - Fathis discovers he has been under spell, and Hassildor is in town after Maxical - he lays a trap for him at the Arena. - Fathis has to pretend he is under Hassildor's spell still. Hassildor orders him to send for Maxical to meet him. - Fathis sends a hateful note to Maxical to keep her from showing up - The messenger is afraid to deliver the note, so just tells Maxical to go up to the administrative box seats. She goes. - Fathis is upset to see that she did come, but has to keep pretending to be under spell. - Fathis springs the trap on Hassildor. Jak (the huge bird) calls in Dagoth-Malan's army of giant vampires to save Hassildor. - Fathis tries to get Maxical to safety. Large amounts of blood are seen where he last stood, but no one knows where he is. - A vampire is impersonating Fathis and taking Maxical into "the pit" at the center of the Arena floor (where the dead bodies are thrown for burning. It also accesses the sewer system)
Alix Lencolia & S'Jirra - Minor role
- Maxical's adoptive parents - nothing at this time, they went back home to the Faregyl because they were guests in Fathis Aren's suite at the Merchants and thought Maxical was breaking up with Fathis - it would not be comfortable staying under his roof under that circumstance. They have not returned.
Damien "Foxy" Reynard - (The Black Fox) - Major role
- Retired assassin of legendary fame - most people believe he is a myth - Has a network of agents that keep tabs on various people in power - Has discovered Ocato is in cahoots with Mankar Camoran to assassinate Uriel Septim - Learned that Mankar Camoran and his "Mythic Dawn" cult have made a deal with Mehrunes Dagon to take over Cyrodiil - Learned that Vicente, Hassildor, and the (now vampire) Agronak have come to Cyrodiil - Learned that Vicente attacked Maxical - the agent following Vicente is missing (Agronak killed him, he is the body they can't identify) - Learned that Fathis was under spell - caught up with him at Jack Thompson's and set up this sting on Hassildor at the Arena
Jak, Seridur, & Janus Hassildor - Major role
Jak:
- Jakben, Earl of Imbel - Has the ability of illusion to alter his appearance and/or impersonate anyone (as long as they are alive). (similar to the illusion Jagar Tharn used to impersonate Uriel Septim for 10 years) - this can be used to hide his vampire features. - Turns into a very large bird and spies on Janus everywhere - Trickster and con artist - Plotting something (unknown) - Whatever his plot is, it involves Janus Hassildor - He is one of Malan's giant vampires (learned the day he saved Malvulis) - Was the giant bird that led Malan's army in fight at the Arena - Holds a very high position among Malan's Giants
Seridur:
- Has the ability of illusion to alter his appearance and/or impersonate anyone - as long as they are alive. - (similar to the illusion Jagar Tharn used to impersonate Uriel Septim for 10 years) - this can be used to hide his vampire features. - Runs a fake vampire hunters group called "The Order of the Virtuous Blood" Uses his reputation with his vampire hunters group to name people as vampires that get in his way or bump off people he doesn't like. - He is gay in my story
Dagoth-Malan and his Army of Giants - Major role
- Dagoth-Ur's cousin, jealous of his immortality and omnipotence - Escaped being made into ascended sleeper by Dagoth-Ur - Tried to drain all Dagoth-Ur's immortal blood to inject in himself - only got two vials before being caught. - gathered blood from the most powerful ancient vampire lines and mixed them with one vial of Dagoth-Ur's blood - injected mixture into himself - Created a super-race of vampires. Every vampire he made grows to giant proportions for combat. - Set pods up outside all the major cities of Cyrodiil to attack people coming and going - trying to infiltrate and fill each city with his armies so on command they would grow to giants and attack. He wanted to take over Cyrodiil with his army. - His coctail of vampire/Dagoth-Ur blood did not make immortal vampires. He went to the Crystal Tower and researched what went wrong. Discovered problem, but only had one vial of Dagoth-Ur's immortal blood left - Malan had to choose someone in a position of power, but who would be easily controlled to make "The Immortal" - that person would be unstoppable - He found 18 year old Janus Hassildor running for the position of Count Skingrad. Malan became Janus's chief advisor and helped him get the post. - Six months later he acted, setting Hassildor up to go to Shadeleaf Copse - Malan's secret vampire headquarters is hidden in the woods there. He attacked Janus, injecting the perfected coctail of Dagoth-Ur's blood and then the mixture of the most powerful vampire lines known. Malan's minions attacked Janus's wife Rona, meaning for her to die. She didn't. She became a vampire too, but not immortal. She died three years ago. - Janus ejected everyone from the castle to keep his vampirism secret, Malan included. Janus bolted the gates so no one could enter for decades. - Janus became a recluse, thwarting all Malan's plans for him. - Malan and his followers all have the ability to turn into large birds
Greywyn Blenwyth and the Crimson Scars - Minor role
- Greywyn Blenwyth was Tamriel's most powerful vampire assassin - He formed the Crimson Scars, an organization of vampire assassins - They tried to infiltrate the Dark Brotherhood and take over by turning all the members into vampires. (Vicente is a Crimson Scar). - Greywyn Blenwyth has been rumored to have been seen in Cyrodiil around his old quarters at Deepscorn Hollow. - They have vowed to rise again
The Legion & Pilus - Minor role - Just here to protect and serve
The Bloodworks (Owyn and Andronicus) - Minor role - nothing to see here
The Hero of the People - Azzan - Minor role
- Born in Sutch, left there after it was razed to the ground - Friend of Itius Hayn, who got him a position with the Fighters Guild where he is currently working his way through the ranks at a very fast rate. - Became known as "The Hero of the People" after some Fighters Guild jobs had him clearing out vampire nests. - Was contacted by the wife of one member of the "Order of Virtuous Blood" (Gilen's wife) - after Seridur supposedly caught Roland Jenseric murdering his girlfriend (and reported it to the Legion that Roland was a vampire) - of course, Seridur was the vampire and Roland was the one that saw him. - Azzan figured out very quickly that Seridur was the vampire and Roland Jenseric was not - Azzan has a terrible hatred of vampires and would like to see them wiped off the face of Nirn. - Azzan is young, idealistic, a ball of spunk, and doesn't like to put his sword away without using it first. A great guy, just still has the hot-headedness of youth.
Hannibal, the Arcane, and the Mages Guild - Major role
- Hannibal went to school with Fathis - they argue like brothers, but genuinely care about each other - Maxical's physician and friend - Expert on Ancient vampires - Knows they have been getting antsy over "Uriel's Law" and that a rebellion is imminent - some think he is paranoid about it. - right now it is his worst nightmare come true - Through Ocato he made arrangements to offer "Diplomatic Immunity from Uriel's Law" to certain vampires if they agree NOT to act on their nature. (If they do, sanctions will be brought against them, they lose immunity, Uriel's Law is enacted, they are killed). - Hannibal likes things to stay at a status quo, peace at almost any cost - and will go to almost any length to keep everything running smoothly (at least till he dies of old age) - That said, Hannibal is a good guy, and when pushed in a corner will always do what is right.
** Uriel's Law - This is the law that has the ancient vampires mad. Uriel enacted it hoping to run vampires out of Cyrodiil. Instead, fear of the law drove them into hiding. They began keeping cattle in their lairs to feed off of. The fear festered into anger. The law reads that vampires are fair game - kill on sight. (But thanks to Clavicus Vile, if they feed they can hide their features for 24 hours) - However, Uriel's law also states that anyone suspected of feeding on another person is subject as well.
The Vampire Hunters - Minor role
Fakes: Order of the Virtuous Blood & Raynil Dralas
- Both use their reputation as vampire hunters to name people as vampires that get in their way.
Real: Eridor and his gang:
Eridor - Bosmer Carsten - Nord Shamar - Redguard Vontus Idolus - Imperial
