I think it depends what point in time it's referencing. If it's talking pre-Emperor then it'd be Old Earth, if it's after the start of the Crusade then yeah, it's a screw-up.

And if it's Mechanicum then it's entirely possible that they consider nothing but Mars holy. The whole Emperor-is-the-Omnissiah thing is still up for debate.

IT's well into M41, and it's a Rogue Trader of all people saying it. Admittedly, McNeill only uses it as description; "he looked like one of the gladiators of the Romanii empire of Old Earth."

That'd be it then. It might take place in M41, but it's referring to ancient Earth. Terra just isn't holy until the Emperor unites it. I think it also functions as an in-universe historical distinction. anything before the rise of the Emperor is generally fragments they've dug up, history doesn't really get coherent until Earth is united.

And my Warhammer 40K book binge has been brought crashing to a halt.

I'm now reading Magician, by Raymond E. Feist

It's about an air shortage on the space colonies. The government back home has gone eco-crazy and is refusing to export air. The eponymous angels are attempting to pirate some with air-scoops, when they crash.

I'm currently reading Silverthorn, which follows on from Magician. Makes me want to fire up an RPG and roll up mageish character, maybe a sorcerer...

Finished Silverthorn, onto A Darkness At Sethanon.

I'd get more of his books, but I think they're a bit overpriced as ebooks.

Thank you for writing it.

I don't think I'd have even started writing about my characters in Oblivion were it not for reading about your adventures with Buffy.

Edit: Ugh, damn I sounded geeky there laugh.gif

I'm currently trying to decide which fanfiction to read next:

Teresa of the Faint Smile,
Jerric's Story,
Old Habits Die Hard,

Or just see what I can dig up in the fanfic section...
