QUOTE(Decrepit @ Mar 23 2021, 04:38 AM) About PC games having a longer life (than their console equivalents), especially those that allow extensive player-centric modification. While that's good corporate PR and drums up enthusiasm for their future products, I suspect it's by and large considered a negative in the corporate world. They're rather us buy a new edition of the franchise every year or two rather than continue playing a game they can no longer make money off us with. If title have long play-lives, best stuff them with microtransactions and the like. Or so I believe they think. Consoles are a surer bet for them, as they are 'closed' systems, in which all aspects are controlled by the equipment manufacturers and publishing houses. They lose some of that control on PC, hence it must play second fiddle, much as I long for the reverse. Does any of this make sense? Prolly not. Well, that would’ve made sense before XBox and PlayStation started allowing mods on their machines. Also, as Skyrim has unfortunately shown, people are willing to buy the same game over and over again. I think this is a bad precedent as it makes game companies complacent. “Hey guys! Why create a new game when we can just add ray effects to an old game and market as a new edition? We’ll sell millions more copies with a minimal amount of work!”

Though I'd have liked to see a remaster of one of the older games before Skyrim. That's what you do when you remaster, you do it to an older game so that it runs on newer hardware better, and snags in customers that missed it when it was current. Morrowind could use a fresh coat of paint, for example. Even though I modded the crap out of it and made it look somewhat reasonable( https://i.imgur.com/LK1yUHZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/g6bVVUs.jpg), it really could use a new coat of paint. Same goes with Oblivion( https://i.imgur.com/jR9SpIk.png https://i.imgur.com/9qJjkZW.png) To remaster Skyrim though was just a greed move. They moved it to the FO4 engine basically, and resold it. Granted, I didn't pay for it(I got the free version since I had the Legendary Edition with all the expansions), its still a shady thing. And I don't think you can buy LE easily anymore. I take a lot of scenery screenshots. >.> those were just a few I took of my modded setup. Oblivion is set up to use an ENB, but I don't have one installed. Morrowind however, the lighting is just fabulous. This post has been edited by Sakiri: Mar 23 2021, 05:13 PM

QUOTE(Sakiri @ Mar 23 2021, 06:56 PM) A box of goodies. I'll have pictures, even though it's likely not impressive, when it gets here I suppose.
Sounds like the care package from How I Met Your Mother Also, Costco? Not surprised. We've been Americanized for decades now. This post has been edited by mirocu: Mar 23 2021, 07:10 PM
