I'll definitely be checking the mirror tonight. What does the guardian I made do? I've yet to see her thus far...

Avoiding spoilers, the Guardian is the person who saves you during the cinematic of the Nautiloid crash, who uses telekinesis to stop your fall right above the ground. They are also the reason that why even though you have been infected, you are not turning into a Mind Flayer, or falling under the control of the bad guys.

Later on in the game you will meet them in your dreams. I don't remember exactly when. But it is in one of the long rests. There will be several meetings like this, then eventually you will meet in the flesh. The Guardian turns out to be a key player in the plot of the game.

I spend forever on character creation too. Even in games like Oblivion and Skyrim where you can save faces and I replay old characters like January and Blood Raven, I still often find myself tweaking their appearances. BG3 is doubly worse because once you create your character, you have to do it all over again with your Guardian!

Many of the wood elf skin tones do look odd. I always go for the light brown shades.

Thankfully you can fix that these days without creating a new character. You just have to go far enough to get to you camp. There will be a magic mirror there that you an use to change your appearance. Not everything is possible to change, but I *think* skin tone is one you can.

The Guardian frustrated me so much when I first started playing BG3. “You want me to decide a character’s appearance based on no backstory?” Lol

@ Kane-
The Guardian is an NPC and initially an ally. They don’t become a follower, that I know of, but they are very important to the story. They can also potentially be a romance option, I believe, so maybe make them someone you might find attractive. Lol

I feel your frustration about creating the Guardian at first! I often just went with either the default Dark Elf that came up first in the character creation, or with just a few tweaks to them.

When I created characters with a literary origin like Stormcrow or Blood Raven, I created the Guardian to suit their backstories. So Stormcrow's looked like either Avery or Blood Raven, depending on the playthrough. Blood Raven's looked like Stormcrow, and so on.

I too went with a Drow for my guardian, mainly because I almost created one as my main anyway, before pivoting to the wood elf.

That fight took me a few tries last night. Anders kept wrecking my party. It was also really annoying that the fight triggers with everyone crammed in the doorway. Sometimes there wasn't enough movement in a turn to get the others close enough to strike. It was practically a wasted turn.

Something I like to do is have a couple of party members hang out down from the outdoor walkway on the south side of the toll house. There is a woman who occasionally walks from inside to go stand on the walkway and look about for about 20 seconds or so. I then go into turn based mode and have Karlach push this woman off and have her fall on the ground below the walkway. She usually survives but I’ve seen her be killed outright by this fall. If she survives, I then have the two party members I had hanging out down there run in and finish her. Sometimes this starts the fight which will bring the “Paladins” out to you, or if not, it’s one less person you’ll have to deal with when you start the fight the usual way.

Heh. I tried pushing her off after a reload when I saw her out there, but it didn't work with my PC.

I failed a few times. The angle is wonky on it. You can line up the trajectory so that it looks like she would be shoved off but she hits something instead and remains on the walkway. Angling it so that the trajectory is in the southwestern direction usually works for me.
