What with semla and coffee yesterday and the pizza I'm getting today, I think we've covered all the basic food groups on two days! biggrin.gif

For the past two months or so, I've been buying chuck eye steaks (along with pork steaks) for my second/final meal of the day, they being quite tasty and very reasonably priced...for beef. Well, Walmart had none in stock yesterday. I ended up buying eye-of-round instead, them being even less expensive. Ate the first of them today. Or tried to. Taste and texture were decidedly subpar. I managed just over three-fourths of mine before unceremoniously dumping the rest in the trash. Sadly, five more of my meals will have to be eye-of-round. Either that or do without. I'm tempted to do so. On the other hand, some individual steaks have a bit of marbling, which today's lacked. Plus, I think I overcooked today's steak a bit. So things might not be as bad as they seem, with emphasis on the "might."

I've added yogurt to my food arsenal. Not just any yogurt. Stonyfield Organic Probiotic Plain Yogurt made with Whole Milk. I down a heaping spoonful after breakfast and my first Dulera inhalation treatment, immediately before brushing teeth. I down another heaping spoonful after my second meal, just prior to brushing teeth. My third heaping spoonful is downed following my second aerosol antibiotic session. (I don't brush afterward but gargle extensively.) I consume it to hopefully compensate for the potential negative side effects of my antibiotic and Dulera sessions. It helps that it doesn't taste at all bad.

Speaking of which, it's time to begin my second aerosol antibiotic treatment. kvleft.gif

Sub-par beef? Sounds like stew or a crockpot experiment in the works. . . .

Regarding expensive fast food

Why does this channel only have 18 subs?

I knew the gist of almost everything seen here, but not the juicy details. Yeah, if all this channel's output is as good as this video, it deserves a decent sub count.

Always on the lookout to "improve" my metabolic health, I recently got wind of a supplement called Berberine that makes claims that appeal to me, with its only mentioned negative side effect being that it can cause "loose stools." As a carnivore, my stools are quite firm and sometimes too firm for comfort. A little loosening isn't, in my case, necessarily a bad thing. I bought a bottle and began taking it twice a day, one capsule with each meal.

Nothing happened first. Then, on the morning of the third day, in the process of standing up off the sofa just after waking, I felt the need to fart—a gentle fart, more poot than true fart. What emerged was not sound but instead watery brown gunk, coating my left leg and the inside of my newly laundered sweatpants. From that point forward, I was subject to frequent, watery discharges. As a carnivore used to "going" maybe once every three days, this was not a welcome change.

A few days later, meat and eggs, the mainstays of my diet, began tasting increasingly more obnoxious by the meal, to the point where I was barely able to down anything, which didn't stop me from frequently "going." I discontinued Berberine. Only now, some days later, am I able to finish a decent portion of any one meal, with much struggle. "Going" frequency is much reduced, but not yet normal. I've not yet had any firm stools. Then again, with as little as I've had to eat, I'm lucky to have any stools at all, firm or otherwise.

Yesterday's pork-steak lunch was utterly scrumptious. I grilled it two minutes less than I normally do. It came off the grill juicy and tender, with plenty of delicious melt-in-your-mouth fat. It filled so much of my plate that I didn't need to supplement it with eggs.

Today's lunch will be chuck eye beef steak with three eggs. Or maybe it's an eye-of-round steak. Gone are the days when I could afford even the smallest ribeye or New York Strip steaks.

After two weeks without affordable yet tolerable beef in stock, I found two twin-packs of Chuck Eye steak at Walmart yesterday. Given the current high prices of beef, even for lesser cuts like Chuck Eye, I bought only one twin pack. I'll consume one beek steak at lunch today, along with three eggs and a glass of water, and save the second steak for later in the week. I've also added two days a week of either tuna or salmon at lunch, again due to beef pricing. When not beef or fish, my lunches include pork steaks and, of course, eggs, unless that day's pork steak is so enormous that there's no room for eggs on the plate. (I remind you that I eat only two meals a day, breakfast and lunch.)

The well-buttered and salted chuck-eye steak I had for lunch today was absolutely delicious. The eggs turned out yummy too, the more so for being able to mix in beef juice runoff from the steak. This morning's bacon and eggs were darn good too.
