I didn't get much out of the article. I don't jump into new games anyway so ES6 is a long ways off. I'll school myself to keep an open mind until it comes out, then follow the chatter about it for a year or so (time for bug fixers, modders, UESPwiki to all do their jobs). Then it might be time to consider it.

Note for Renee: Buffy has evolved and matured enough that you'll be interested to know she doesn't really need Acadian to try a new game first. I suspect the next time she ventures into a new game, she will do so without benefit of him having played and checked it out first.

True, you never play new games, Acadian. Well I will. And then I'll let you know if it's Acadian/Buffy-worthy in my opinion.

Anyway, new Elder Scrolls VI info here.

Haven't read it yet but I love that's it's supposed to be "sooooo different", although this info could be scary, too, I know! Because I don't want 6 to be TOO different. sad.gif indifferent.gif

There was a time when I'd be so enthused over a teaser article such as this but now, I just don't know what to make of it. I hope it is not so different that my character can't live in it. Skyrim dimmed the magical fantasy. Will TES-VI be worse?
Maybe I'm just getting too old and tired for teasers. Bring on the real thing.

Ohhh good grief, can we just lock this thread? I'm so embarrassed to be the ONLY one getting excited, I guess it's not okay to get psyched about stuff, even after the year I've had. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

I mean, I can remember before Skyrim coming out, lotsa gamers at Bethsoft telling me it would suck,Skyrim is 'not an RPG', and so on, so there I was, feeling like a troll because for me, TES V lived up to 'the hype'", or whatever....

.... so yea, click, lock up this 'trying-to-be-positive because the rest of-my-life-kinda-just-sucks' thread, plz.

Bye.

I don’t think it’s necessary to close the thread. I for one am still very interested in TES6. The problem is we just don’t have a lot of information on it at this point, and BGS, as ever, aren’t being very informative.

I’m interested to see how the magic system is. Personally I think the reduced focus on magicka made a lot of sense for Skyrim (though I would prefer something closer to Morrowind), and I would expect a game set in Hammerfell to similarly have less of a focus on magicka. Now if the next game is set in the entire Iliac Bay region once again (as has been supposed by many after seeing the little trailer they put out so many years ago), I would expect magicka to be of greater focus since the Bretons should have a bigger part to play.

I certainly am looking forward to Elder Scrolls VI as well. This is my favorite series, after all.

It's fun to speculate, but for some people (not here in this forum), they need to be careful what they build up in their head. And like Khajiit said, we just don't really have anything to go on except for a background that suggests to me that it is Hammerfell (which is rad, if so). That's probably where the speculation makes most sense, and location is one of the most interesting things to talk about for me.

I'm still psyched, lol. It'll be a pre-order and several days off work event for me!

I’ve seen some talk about carrying over some sort of ship building from Starfield into TES6. I must admit I am very interested in this idea but also not really sure how it would work. Any thoughts?

If the game is set in Lilac Bay, then the protagonist having a ship as a base would make a lot of sense. Pillars of Eternity 2 did it that way. Instead of having a stronghold, you had a ship. You could upgrade it with better cannons, sails, hull, etc... You could also buy more ships, and transfer your flag between them. Whichever ship in your fleet had your flag was considered your base. So any ship to ship combat took place using that vessel.

TES6 could do something similar, but probably much more robustly. There might be several basic ship types you could start out with, like a carrack, or a galley, or junk, or a catamaran. Maybe each race might have its own style. From there you could perhaps increase or decrease the overall size. Add masts. Put different kinds of sails on them. Add catapults or cannon or whatever sort of ship-borne artillery they feel is appropriate. There might be ways to improve the hull, like using different types of wood, or adding metal sheathings. Or adding a ram, and so on.

The interior might be similar to how they did the build-your-own homes in Hearthfires, where each ship has specific areas where you can choose to put in different rooms, like a library, or smithy, or an alchemical laboratory, and so on. As well as a bedroom of course.

And of course there is the crew. You will have to be able to hire crew members, assign them to specific tasks, and so on.

Awesome, thank you. I don't have a very thick skin. A member here at Chorrol virtually chewed me out after I privately admitted I'm psyched for this new game, and I made the mistake of carrying that negative energy into this stupid thread. Nice to know others are looking forward to it too, I guess. cake.gif

I'll never understand people that dunk on others for wanting or enjoying something. Stating an opinion is one thing, but chastising others because they don't agree with you just reeks of entitlement. News flash; people are allowed to like what they like!

Who would have done that? Is that why you were so upset and wrote that off the charts upset PM back to me when we were discussing TES VI? I just said I was holding off being excited till I heard it was launching and you wrote back really upset that I wasn't excited about it, I wondered what happened to you. Are you okay?

I always buy the games pre-order, and like I told you = I know it will be epic if it is made by Bethesda = but the amount of time they have been away from making Elder Scrolls (and Fallout too, as I mentioned) is what worries me; plus the fact that they said in 2018 that they were working on TES VI and now it is 2026 and now they are saying that again.

Your response to my PM was so bad that I wondered what upset you, now I hear that someone ripped you up for being excited. If someone on here ripped you up in a PM, let Acadian know. He can work in the background to find out what was said and get it straightened out.

Agree. I don't know anyone on this site that would have done anything like that, I think she should go to Acadian and let him find out what happened.

As per always, I am cautiously looking forward to a new TES game. (I wonder if there will be flying mammoths?) Sorry, couldn't resist that. Or Spot the Dead Dragon, who crashed into the main street every time I entered the gate at Whiterun....

However, the main thing causing me to wait is saving up to get myself a Playbox X Station PS5 1 Box to Rule Them All. (Less trouble than replacing my venerable gaming PC while also avoiding Win 11). That said, I am looking forward to reading about and reveling in your experience of the game when it arrives.

As to people being snarky towards your enthusiasm, Renee, that not only annoys me, but is also disappointing in the extreme. That goes against everything that Chorrol family is supposed to be. As I move ever closer to achieving "Certified Old Guy" status, taking joy in things like new games is more important to me than ever. So please... embrace your excitement. There should be joy in life and we should all do what we can to pass it on to others, including celebrating their anticipation. Hugs for you Renee (respectfully).

I’m curious about the future of new game systems and pc components with the ongoing issues with ram and other component shortages brought on by the AI boom. I’ve heard that Sony has pushed back their plans to release the PS6 later than they wanted, and Valve is running into snags with the Steam machine, which I was very interested in. I really hope this is all resolved soon.

Won't get resolved until they stop building energy draining data centers. Or the AI bubble pops, which is more likely.

Sucks for the rest of us, though. I'm glad I updated my PC when I did.

lol no doubt! My machine is running off 2010s tech. Playing newer games on it is just not feasible.

And that brings up the question of what the target machine will be for the new game. Will it require Windows 12? More RAM than anyone can buy?

And will the game report everything you do to an AI database, so Microsoft can play catch-up with the social media corporations?

You may be right. Xbox is supposedly going forward with their plans to release their next machine as early as Q4 next year (from what I’ve heard). It’s supposed to be a console/pc hybrid that will run a version of windows. I wouldn’t be surprised if TES6 were a launch title for this machine.

I'm very much looking forward to Elder Scrolls 6. It's a 100% buy for me. My main concern is if I will be able to get my hands on a new PC that will run it. Jerric will dive into a new Elder Scrolls game with no hesitation, though I doubt he will abandon ESO since he can now ride across Tamriel shirtless.

I'm not worried about ES6 being unrecognizable as an Elder Scrolls game. Here's a quote from the article:
QUOTE
"The majority of this building is working on The Elder Scrolls 6," he admits. "It's amazing for us to come back to it. I gotta be honest, right? Being in that world after not developing in Elder Scrolls – it's so different than Starfield, so different than Fallout – it feels great for us."

I take that to mean that ES6 will be very different from Fallout and Starfield, which makes sense.
QUOTE
"They're very different vibes, and they're different vibes to develop," as Howard puts it.

I hope they give us a variety of horse models. And Jerric wants to lead a pack mule.

This is what worried me when my PC broke down last year = fixing it would cost less, but would my fixed PC play the new games coming out? Probably not. It was barely loading up Oblivion Remastered.

So I finally decided not to chance it, I went and bought the new PC, and now I am really glad I did (despite Windows 11, which is a total control freak) because from what I have seen all the new games coming out are going to make the five year old PC's hardware totally obsolete.
