Name: Cerpin Taxt (often called Shifter)
Race: Originally altmer
Age: 1023
Allegiance: undecided
Class: Mage/Assassin
Personality: Very quiet and reserved, he is almost a legend, a person told of in scary children's stories. He is a killer, through and through, and he doesn't do it for money or for any sense of values; he merely likes killing, and the challenge of doing so. He often puts strange limits on himself, for example, when he camps, he would rather take the time to light a fire using flint and steel rather than just casting a fire spell on some wood.
Brief History: Cerpin was born of a family of mages; his mother, father, and three siblings were all mages. He was no different, except for the fact that he seemed to like challenges more than anyones else; he would often limit himself, making tasks much harder than they actually were. His entire family put a combined effort into creating a spell that would allow them to switch bodies with each other. When his family would retire for the night, Cerpin would often study the notes himself, and think of many tweaks and additions to the spell. When the family finally decided to make the spell, Cerpin had other ideas. He brought along a pair of black gloves; one already enchanted, and one that was about to be. When his family began the incantations, Cerpin caught them unawares, and caused the spell that they were chanting to enchant his glove. When there was not enough magic power amongst the family to complete the task, Cerpin found a way to use his familiy's life energy to fuel it. Cerpin has lived many lifetimes by switching bodies with passerbys and then killing his old body, and the soul that had just made its way into it. He find pleasure in hunting his victims; he often follows them for months, sometimes years, before finding the most opportune moment to strike and assume control of their bodies.
Equipment: His pair of black gloves (The left allows him to switch bodies with anyone that is caught unaware, or doesn't have the willpower to resist him, and the right can keep the switch from totally finishing, meaning that Cerpin could take another's body, but the other person would not assume his - the soul would die.), he wears a black cloak over a black tunic, aiding him in moving unseen, despite the fact that he has the capability to cast chameleon and invisibility on himself.
(he now walks in the form of a thin, pale imperial, with very thin, long black hair, and odd yellow eyes that seem to follow him no matter what body he assumes.)
Weird enough for you? I thought he was cool.

QUOTE(DoomedOne @ Sep 29 2005, 08:20 PM) I was thinking about that, but somehow the character survived and had the black glove so it becomes a challenge of getting is body back. Hehe. Thats not a bad idea. Ther tables get turned because the one who's body he steals has his glove of body-stealing-ness!

Why would the gloves go with him? If all the gloves do is transfer him from one body or another then the clothes would remain the same, enchanted or not. It makes it more of a challenge, and therefore makes the character more intricate. I don't dislike immortality, I just dislike it when it was achieved really simply. The process of stealing back his gloves should be a necessary challenge. It makes the story more complex a bit later (an event like this would only happen once he's been well established into the plot anyway)
Anyway, I suppose we already have freelance baddie number 1 on the table, so here's freelance baddie number 2:
Name: Judd Vhah Race: Nord Age: 92 Allegiance: Mercenary/Undecided Class: Warrior Personality: Very loud and obnoxious. He likes to get drunk but easily sobers up when things get serious. He thinks the world is his playground and often makes a scene in order to prove to people he's there and he's taking names. One of his greatest pleasures in life is killing and he's gotten pretty good at it.
Brief History: His parents died from disease when he was really young and he was forced to live with a brutal, psychologically manipulative, contemptible grandmother. He coped with his early years by training himself and beating people up. When he was twelve he killed his first drifter, and couldn't stop after that. He felt alive for the first time, and all that built up angst from his tormet was released. Ever since then murdering has become a drug for him. Whenever he has a conversation break down and needs to blow off some steam, he'll leave for a bit to kill some random person then comeback. It went on like this until he ended up accidentally killing the wrong guy and ending up in the custody of somebody who gave him an enchanted mace and armor and told him he could keep it if he wiped out everyone in a certain building. The employer attempted to betray him by setting a trap, locking the door behind him and setting the place on fire. He managed to escape, with a vendetta. He scarred himself with the symbol of a morning-star on his forehead in preparation before fulfilling his goal. Ever since he killed that guy, he was a legendary murderer. Legionnaires chased him deep within the mointains where he lived among Necromancers who offered him a job to bring them corpses and in returned used a rare spell that sacrificed the souls of some of their captives to keep him youthful so he could continue his work. Now that the Legion has left, he found it safe to crawl out of his hole and return to a changed world.
Equipment: Enchanted Spiked mace (Enchanted with shock damage); armor that resembles Snow-wolf armor; a small knife he calls Eternal which, in occordance with a certain ritual he can perform himself, he uses to keep himself youthful.

Okay, the glove thing is fine by me.
I decided that Judd has a way of staying young, too. He'll be like Cerpin but in a different style. I'd also like freelance baddie nummber 3 to complete the circle of this new threat Megil see's, which will stem deeper than just one malicious soul's pair of gloves.
Anyway, Judd achieves immortality through a form of necromantic alchemy where he draws a triangle and sticks a captive he has subdued in each corner, links the corners with lines drawn in his own blood, links the corners to the center where he stands in their blood. Then he throws his special knife to kill them one at a time, one when the ceremony is complete he gets about 5 years younger.
