All I know is that Bethseda have made a considerable effort to try and make a game which is unlike any other.

Halo is like any other game and the makers Bungie ( or whatever - I don't really know ) just wanted to release another game asap for more money.

Even if Oblivion turned out to be really bad ( please god no ) You would still have to respect the vast scale of the world they tried to make. smile.gif

Okay first off, have you heard of Grammer? Or Spelling? They are very simple things to learn.

But back to the topic at hand, no one person can say if it is a let down or not, it depends upon to person playing it. I personaly love Halo 2 and don't think of it as a let down at all, in fact I rather liked the ending. I am sure I am going to love Oblivion just as much, though most likely more.

I didnt know that grammer or spelling was such a issue. I thought my question was a valid one. Besides which halo 2 is only good xbox live.

First off, don't be a jerk. Secondly, not everyone here has English as their first language and you should be considerate of that. Spelling and grammer are not easy for everyone, there are learning disablilties for it and that is not to mention the fact that most people using the internet either have trouble using a keyboard or have adfusted to chat-room-paced typing and thusly use many shorthands that save time.

On topic: There is no way I will be disappointed by the new TES, it'll be great, they have been working on it for three years, went to college to learn about how to create realistic erosion and other things, they have already shown us real gameplay that was good, the screenshots are so good my computer has to think about it before it decides it won't overload from excitement, and the RAI is going to be fun no matter what. There again I like to point out the "I" at the top so as not to shove anything on anyone......so no rants about 'nuh ugh', lol.

If you have to ask this question seriously, you should take another look at all the released info...and be prepared to be happy.

all the expectations could leave people dissapointed

for example ..i had huge expectations of GTA Vice City, after GTA 3, but at first i was indeed slightly dissapointed, although i see now it is almost a briliant game

I don't get what all this worry is.
I wasn't into Halo 1 so didn't giva when it went to two but I have never seen a game have so much pre-release information
I know there is still heaps of surprises in store but basicly we got the jist of how this game is going to play. We have untold reams of dev quotes outlining various aspects of the game. We have seen great game play vids, Bethseda has been very generous with content.
It will be everything we expect and more, and it is the "and more" that will be the prize.

what if the graphics don't look as good as on the video's, because they are run on the most powerful computers you can think of
what if the movements of the creatures still look as ridiculous as in the E3 video (and the recently released vid)
what if the faces of the people look even worse than they do on the vid's (compared to the overall look of the game ..it's terrible)

i don't want to be pessimistic, but some people on this forum here think they're waiting for heaven's gates to open..

First off, with the early posts in this thread I'm surprised a moderator didn't pop in and tell everyone to play nice.

Secondly, well, its a game by Bethesda, how much better can ya get? Personally, the game looks great and it seems like the gameplay will be superb.

Halo 2, was slightly disappointing, but thinking back, the campaign was long enough and enjoyable and Multiplayer was superb, which makes it OK by me.
And if Oblivion is just like Morrowind in a new setting with shorter loading screens, I'd be happy... but, Hey! I'm promised better graphics, a physics engine, a larger world, radiant AI, large woodlands, better skill balancing and a lot more bonuses... I doubt I'll be complaining.

To me, those things are minor. Games can never be absolutely perfect but what matters most is that you get the enjoyment out of it.

Im not suprised some people have criticisms like these, if you went to heaven, you probably will point out that the gates are a bit rusty tongue.gif

It's not really, I just get annyed when people don't add an "r" to "you" and other things like that. It only taks 0.10 seconds to do it and it makes you seem like a intelligent human, not a thumless (sp?) monkey in front of a computer.

P.S. As the game is not out yet we can know if the game is a let down (Though I doupt it will be.), so it would have been better as a "Is there anything you don't like about Oblivion" thread, or made at a later date.

P.P.S. I didn't mean to be rude, these things just annoy me.

You have to think that this thread had only been open for about six hours when you posted the above comment and while the moderators and admins are ever present, they aren't omni-present, lol. So they had to have time to actually see the thread before saying anything, that is why I said something to the extent of 'play nice' when I saw the bite about spelling and grammer....

this is out of order, but one day games will be 'absolutely perfect' ever see exostendz (sp?) with the head gear that put you in drug based VR...? that was freakin' sweet!

and zelda, I get that, sometimes there are things I read that bug me too.....like that dutch thing where they sometimes start their quotes but using ,,...." instead of "....." it confuses me and kinda gets annoying...lol, I think it was jack cloudy that I first saw do it and thought maybe he had a glitch at first, rofl. but we came to an understanding about it (he still does it and I complement his story anyway, b/c the plot is good)

...You're right. More people should spell-check their posts.

Has the grammar Nazi retired now? Good.

Back on topic, there will always be people who think that a sequel will never live up to the original -- the same logic that brings such a person to this conclusion is applied with ease to a work and the previous work in a series. The irrationality of this assumption is made all the more clear by the fact that it is often made, whether consciously or unconsciously, before the release of the work in question.

This is a known phenomenon, and one whigh I do not care to attempt to explain. Perhaps it is simple nostalgia; perhaps it is something else. After all, there were -- and still are -- people who believe that Morrowind could not have lived up to the high bar set by Daggerfall.

This is reactionism, plain and simple. I think you know my stance on reactionism.

While I seriously doubt it'll reach the lofty heights of Daggerfall, I'm pretty sure it'll still be a great game, most likely better than Morrowind.

Well, this kind of went "nowhere good" real quick now, didn't it?

Indeed, this thread is out of hand, and gets the sock. Next time you personally have a problem with the spelling or grammar of another user's post, please use the PM system - with a POLITE approach.
Along that line, if you're ever approached with insults and other nonsense through PM, there's the "ignore" feature. If someone's doing a serious attempt of spamming you through PM or such, contact the moderation team.

We all want to make ourselves understood and have others do the same when discussing or following discussions, but unless a post is clearly made rubbish on purpose as opposed to skipping a few steps when formulating a reply, others are just going to have to put up with it. As mentioned, not everyone here or on any other forum have English as their primary spoken or written language, nor is it reasonable to expect everyone to proof-read/write everything they say. We encourage making an honest try, but having threads follow this path - sinking with a heavy padlock - isn't what anybody wants.

Additionally... Some posts here call for aid from moderators and/or admins here on the board, yet my last recieved report -- likely produced by someone using the report button -- is dated Febuary 19th. huh.gif Hint hint, folks -- if you see something that you feel needs to be dealt with by a moderator or is otherwise offensive and/or against the rules, feel free to contact the moderation team. The easiest way is the 'report' button found under each post. It really helps.

Right. Clearing up your expectations and your perspective of hype is fine, but this didn't follow a good line. Productive, polite retry, please, if any.

I'll just go ahead and close this, then. *click*
