Decided to try some things with Xochitl and Eolantbh I only went with Glass on Xochitl since it always seemed like Ebony's lighter counterpart. Not sure if I'll stick with it, but it's always an option. (It's also obtained with crafting, like Ebony, so that's another reason to go with it lol) I'm actually really happy with Eolan's and I think I'm closer to something I want to settle with. (Back when CWC dropped I considered using Ebony, but hated some of the pieces. Turns out the medium helmet looks a lot better and Hlaalu shoulders are a good stand-in for the original's pauldrons. Orc gauntlets came close, and I also considered High Elf, but they had birds on them and they were a little pointier than I wanted so I might ultimately stick to the former. Not sure what I'm doing with Jo yet. Bonus: Turns out that before the skin-tight armor problem was better, it got worse. The only reason I'm complaining is that I actually really liked it when it seemed to be a sleek and sturdy breastplate and not pectoral armor.

Some of my crew have worn costumes since they were created, so I thought I'd take a peek at what they're actually wearing. BlossomLaurieWizwen - can you imagine wearing that straightjacket in a steamy jungle? SpreadsUnna doesn't look too bad, but that's because Laurie made her a matched set of Torug's in Dwarven. I forgot to unhide her helmet. Taminwe likes her Bosmer rawhide Death's Wind, and it could become an outfit when she needs to change up.

Acadian, your screenie of the month is beautiful indeed. I don’t think I mentioned it before, but I loved your Mystic Archer picture last month. The darkness and glowing bow looked awesome! monkey, I am a huge fan of the Ebony armor, and you have improved it by changing those pauldrons. I love the Glass on Xochitl. Jerric sometimes suffers from the same issue as Eolan with the chest area. I have learned to get a side-look before committing. Love the Ebony on Eolan! ghastley, I could not get your pictures to load. Will try again later. I am having technical struggles today. Khajiit, Feathered-Snake looks frightening with his face paint and skull helmet. That round mace looks awesome! I love Tez. Beautiful! Lildereth left her beloved but disruptive jackal in charge of pest control at Snugpod and took a new friend on the road. She is one happy elf today. Spot the newcomer.

Yes, Feathered-Snake cuts quite an imposing figure! His base armor is Argo heavy, but his outfit is a mix of Argo light, med, heavy, with a Mazzatun med helmet, mace, and shield. Lil looks like she’s ready for great adventures with her new fox pal!

I saw this done without the dye, and couldn't resist. Attack of the seven foot leprechaun!I think that could become her regular outfit.

I was fortunate that the hat ended up a similar shade to parts of the costume, so it all looks like it belongs together. I'm still trying to figure out how the dye colour gets combined with the costume/outfit texture to produce the end result. It looks like the dye can affect the hue, chroma, lightness, specularity?, gloss of the material in different amounts, and I'd like to know the whole gory detail.
I'd expect the hue to be completely overridden, but the other factors are hard to determine. You can't use a black dye and expect some parts not to remain stubbornly grey. But it will set chroma to zero, and it seems that the white dyes have the inverse effect. However, neither fully overrides the lightness channel. There may even be a different formula for different grades of dye.
That top hat would look great if you could get close to black, but you can't, or at least I can't.
