Here's the new one.

Haldin, on horse.

Haldin, who had been riding on his horse the last few months, he ahd spent riding through Tamriel, stiffened, his finely attuned ears picking up sounds...sounds of battle, 'never a good thing', he tought. Without further ado, he spurred his steed forwards as fast as he could, what met him was more than he ahd expected.

A huge army of goblins, zombies and a number of different bandits were surrounding the imperial city, trying to extinguish a large fire that was in a breach in the wall. Hatred filled him, as he watched these wretched beings trying to destroy the city, and close to where the fire was, throwing frost spells at it was his aunt.

With a snarl of rage he unscheated his sword, before spurring his horse into a gallop straight towards his estranged aunt, 'she deserves no more than death'.

With a cry of death he slammed into the enemy ranks, throwing zombies left and right, spurring his steed ever on, he tried to manouver it so that he avoided running into his enemies and losing the momentum of his charge. His sword sang as it slashed left and right, severing heads and arms, spiling fountains of blood with every strike.

Righteous zeal overtook him as he slayed enemies in his path, his grizzled visage making more than one enemy recoil in fear, but he didn't have much time before they rallied, he was after all just one person. An arrow struck his shoulder, but he shrugged away the pain as he disemboweled a nord in steel armour, he was close to his aunt now..."DIE TRAITOR", he yelled, as he rode towards her.

OOC: I'm off.

Haldin.

Haldin roared in rage when his aunt had just smirked at him, before teleporting herself away to the back of the ranks where she continued her barrage of spells at the walls, and he felt rather than saw a nasty bone shatter curse pass him by inches.

But he could not stop now, he had to help, and being alone in the open was no good way to help. With a curse he drove his horse towards the breach, where the flames had now all but gone out. An arrow hit his horse head, and both rider and steed fell to the ground.

Haldin swore again, and could not help but think that his almost niece/sister Satyana would be very dissappointed with him, wincing at the thought what she or Serene would do to him if they caught him speaking like that, he Dragged up his battlehammer 'Wrath of Dorn', in favour of his sword.

With a mighty swing he beheaded two zombies and broke the arm of a goblin as well. He ran towards the breach, using his sheer weight and size to push away the odd opponent.

After he had passed the breach, he was treated with the sight of three men, a Breton mage, an old Nord warrior, and a young Breton look alike lad, all of them standing against a tall Alien. His first tought was thet it was one of the Akavir, but he could not be, his grey scales looked tough at least, a formidable opponent.

"FOR JUSTICE", he yelled as he charged the alien, smashing his hammer towards it's midriff, hoping to chrush his lower spine.

OOC:Considering no one has posted yet, I doub't this counts as a double post.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint fought the tendency to roll his eyes when a Dunmer came out of nowhere swinging a hammer. He lost the fight when he recognized the man as Haldin, yet another Delvanni.
,,Must be a family reunion or something. The bad kind." He thought while enveloping Halding in a barrier as well.
,,Haldin! I'm protecting four people right now! I could strenghten the barriers if you dropped to our side!"

Odrik.

Odrik cursed. The attack had renewed in force. And the outer walls were being battered again.
,,Come on, you dumbsacks! I need a Trebuchet, yesterday! Focus on getting one done and firing before starting the others!"

Odrik cursed. The attack had renewed in force. And the outer walls were being battered again.
,,Come on, you dumbsacks! I need a Trebuchet, yesterday! Focus on getting one done and firing before starting the others!"

Haldin.

Haldin abruptly stopped his blow, jumped forward into a roll, and stood up right beside Flint. "Ah Flint, nice to see you again" Haldin nodded with a smile.

Seeing that Flint was struggling to keep up the barrier, He cast a spell on Flint that allowed Flint to draw in a part of Haldins own magical powers, "it's the least I can do for you friend", he muttered to Flint.

Flogir

Flogir noticed that the battle was picking up once again and began barking orders to the soldiers nearby.

"I need pikemen at that breach and a score of archers to back em up! If any of you happen to hit a pikeman I swear to the Divines I'll personally send them to Oblivion!"

As the soldiers hurried to their positions, Flogir found a spot where he could oversee the upcoming events hopefully. He glanced over to where Flint and the others were facing off with the foreign being. He silently offered a prayer of luck for them.

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 29 2007, 09:57 PM

Flint Ironwood.

Flint nodded.
,,Thanks." He spoke, then turned his full attention back to the matter at hand.
,,Alright, I take care of defense. But try to dodge anyway. I can only slow down, not stop. I'd say surround and pound from three directions. James, being the weakest, takes his rear."

Odrik.

,,Hammer the anchors into place!.....Tie up the ropes, double!.......Load basket!" Odrik shouted and took a deep breath as he surveyed the battlefield.
,,Alright men, ten degrees left, two extra rotations should do it. We're gonna hit that officer down there. Ready.....FIRE!" And with that word, the first Trebuchet leapt back into action.

OOC: I'm off to bed. Feel free to fight this battle without me. Both Odrik and Flint can safely be put on automatic, I'd say. Odrik's launching bricks all over, Flint's holding up the barrier.

OCC: Well dang, while at T3's (Tenek, The Thief's) house, I hardly had time to do anything on the comp. Anyway, the Plys'Iea reacts. Flink wasn't guarding their backs was he? Issac and Satyana should be getting down from the battlements by now, the latter being in a position to see her "Uncle?"

Plys'Iea

The warrior took in the men standing against him, now numbering four. Despite his bestial appearance, he fully understood the words of their plotting. "How do you intend to fight one who can become a mealstrom?" He inquired, his off hand moving to grasp his staff.

Then, the creature blurred, slamming his long weapon into the pavement and pole-vaulting up and over the foursome. He spun, landing in position to strike their flanks. The alien swung his weapon in a rapid, and repeating succession of strikes at the men and the Dunmer.
The flails on the end made loud whoosing noises as they moved.

Posted by: Agent Griff Sep 30 2007, 12:29 PM

Dan, fighting the Plys'Iea

Dan tried desperately to evade the lightning fast blows of the alien being. Despite Flint's spells which slowed down the creature it was still moving at almost super-human speeds. Dan's usual tactic of closing in quickly and showering the opponent with blows before they could have time to respond wouldn't work here. He would need to think carefully, otherwise one blow of the creature could kill him. At least the creature's attention wasn't solely on him. If it had been so, Dan would have been long dead. With the creature trying to hit four opponents simultaneously, Dan could at least have time to dodge individual blows.

After dodging a few blows and nearly getting hit on the shoulder by one of them, Dan saw an opportunity in which the creature was focusing on James, seeing him as being weaker than the other opponents. He used this opportunity to hit the creature with all his strength. He managed to do so, hitting the beast in the shoulder as he turned to strike the freshly arrived Dunmer. Dan's blow, which would have killed a normal man, only managed to put a dent in Dan's blade with little consequence to their enemy.

This is harder than I thought!

Posted by: Tellie Sep 30 2007, 02:58 PM

James.

James was seriously wishing that he had never left his wonderrful shade earlier, dodging that damned flai was tiring. James smiled in satisfaction when Dan struck the creature, that is until he was hit in the side, and felt two of his ribs crack.

With a scream in pain James was thrown under the creature, where he in desperation stabbed one dagger into each of it's leg, the paralyzing effect struck in...halfy the creature could still move, but it's movements would be slower the next minute, while the other dagger with the deadly venom had embedded itself in it's left thigh, and broken off. James doubted the poison would kill this damned thing, but if it was left untreated for long, he might have to amputate the leg...one thing ws sure, the poison would weaken him, with a last smile unconciousness claimed him.

Haldin.

Haldin growled in annoyance of theis...thing, dodging the flail's, until on hit him. Using the momentum of the blow, he allowed himself to swing with it, and with the increased speed he slammed his hammer down at the creature's left knee with enough force to reduce an orc's armoured head to a bloody mass.

OOC: You decide if the poison will do anything of course, and if Haldins strike will actually hit or something similar Rev...

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 30 2007, 03:04 PM

Flint Ironwood.

They were losing ground fast. When one of the flails swooped in on him, the Breton stiffened his barrier to the limit. The deadly weapon slowed down, yet it still cracked most glassplates in his side as well as launching him sideways for three metres. The Breton skidded to a stop on the pavement.
,,This is not good. I can't move and guard them at the same time." He thought frantically. He knew of only one solution here, and the grasped it.

The mystic barrier of dragonskin, that peculiar force that grows within each Breton, enveloped his skin, protecting him with a shell over thrice as powerful as his strongest conventional barrier. This, with his armour, should be enough to make him keep standing as he focussed on guarding his allies.

OOC: The Plys'Iea's armour. Does it have a radio? Just a question.

Posted by: Lord Revan Sep 30 2007, 05:17 PM

OCC: I suppose, he wouldn't be able to use it now that no one else of Nirm has another. What are you thinking?

Plys'Iea

He reared back as one human stabbed a small dagger through one of the few places between his armor's plates. His legs gradually felt numb, which allowed him not to feel anything from the dunmer's hammer strike he might have otherwise.

The strike dented his armor, but the alien realized this was turning against him. The cornered prey bites the hunter. Making a snap decision, he grabbed the unconscious Breton-being and fled. these vermin are so loyal to each other....

Posted by: Agent Griff Sep 30 2007, 05:33 PM

Dan, shocked

As Dan ducked from one more of the alien's blows he felt the mail armour he was wearing was starting to tire him. He knew that he wouldn't last any long if the battle kept going like that. His allies had also fought back, hitting the beast as well. It was with little effect however since their foe seemed to be as strong as ever. With one blow he threw Flint aside and almost killed Dan with one of his flails. The battle however was going against the creature. It had to tire eventually.

Before Dan could rise from the ground however, the alien made a move of desperation, grabbing the unconscious James from the ground and running off with him.

Coward! Now that the battle goes against you flee and take our wounded!

Dan immediately felt all weariness fall from him as he started running for the alien. His rage however soon left him and he fell to the ground after being tripped by the bloody remains of a fallen Bruman guard. As Dan felt his limbs going numb from the battle, he could hear various sounds around. Flint shouting desperately, the joint commander of the defense forces barking out orders to defend the breach. Dan was too tired for it all however. He desperately needed rest.

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 30 2007, 05:46 PM

OOC: I was going to have Aleatoire make the radio perform some horribly annoying screeching, so the good guys wouldn't get slaughtered. But since the Plys'Iea ran, it's no longer needed.

Flint Ironwood.

The monstrous being took off, too fast for him to follow unless he tried jumping. But James was less important than the breach. Or was it? Flint felt a conflict of desires. While he felt no great love for the man, he was an ally. And how much of a difference could he make in the melee of hundreds? Even with his dragonskin, he would not shift the outcome significantly. But he had a chance to save James. He was as fast as the being, perhaps even faster.

Flint let his eyes shoot across the plaza. Dan was out, he wouldn't help. Haldin could be a big aid, but carrying him along would force the Breton to slow down far too much. He would have to go in alone.
,,And get killed. I'm too stupid for my own good."
,,Haldin, check after Dan. I'm going to collect this James fellow." He spoke as he shot off into the air.

Flogir

"Keep your defense up lads!" Flogir shouted encouragement to the pikemen as the phalanx they had created attempted to stay together as a slew of enemies crashed against it. Shortly behind them, archers kept up a steady stream of fire. A mound of dead goblins and bandits began to form at the entrance of the breach.

"So far, so good," Flogir said to himself quietly.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the alien creature Flint and them were fighting fled the battle. Unfortunately it appeared that it took one of the wounded with it and now Flint appeared to be chasing after it.

"Well that's one problem taken care of for now..." Flogir said quietly once again. The fact that Flint had left though left him worried about his comrade. That foe is way too dangerous for one person to take on.

"I hope you know what you're doing Flint," he muttered before returning his attention to the breach.

He pointed at a messenger lad. "You there! Get back to the walls and giver joint commander Altair a status report. Ask for one as well and then return back to me," he said quickly before the younger nodded eagerly and ran off.

Plys'Iea

To his relief, the numbing sensation deminished after a short distance of sprinting. Too small of a dose, the alien concluded, dodging down an alley. He could feel the one Breton pursuing, I can deal with the others afterwards.

Spinning, he skidded to a halt and dropped the unconscious man on the ground.

OOC: If this story eventually will lead to anything at all besides a big fat fight I´ll gladly edit this post......until then....I´m not making a single move, I´ll just wait and see.... kvleft.gif

Edit: So Satyana and Issac are holding on to Telina´s dead body...She sees Haldin who she knows very well..and he is heading towards them

Flint Ironwood.

Flint landed on a rooftop from which he surveyed his quarry. The big Argonian or whatever it was had dropped James on the ground and now simply stood there....waiting. The Breton pondered over his dilemma. On his own, even with his Dragonskin, he was simply no match for it. But he had to get James back, somehow.
,,I need a distraction." He thought.

He got an idea and moved till he was sure he was out of the creature's sight. He then waved at the Trebuchet crew and signaled with broad sweeping hand gestures where he wanted them to drop a rock. At first the Brumans seemed confused with the idea of targetting a friendly part of the city but they gave in. Flint watched how they angled the Trebuchet so that it's payload would strike only metres from the big creature. He then cast his invisibility spell and prepared to move as soon as he could hear the swoosh of rock overhead. With some luck, the warrior would be distracted so he could drop in, snatch James and leap away.

Posted by: Tellie Oct 2 2007, 09:36 PM

James.

James woke up groggily, feeling the pain in his ribs he remembered what had happened. With great effort he managed to get up and to to gulp down an invisibility potion.

Haldin

Haldin let out a harsh breath, as the things he had performed the last minutes made thir presence know in his system. Hefting his hammer in a firm grip he looked around at the battleweary tired soldiers around him.

"Alright my friends, we need to build a sort of barricade here, I want everyone with a strong arm to carry over anything that can be used, logs large rocks, barrels, anything you can think of, swiftly we haven't much time", he said.

Looking around he saw a tearstained Satyana along with a young Altmer he didn't know, and between them they were carrying...'it can't be...m-mother I she can't be dead', Haldin felt his throat constrict, and tears started to flow down his cheeks.

He walked over to them, looked down at his mothers face. It still looked surprised, almost laughing as she couldn't believe she had been beaten. Haldin let out a dry sob, before turning his tearstained eyes to Satyana. "Who...who did this, who killed my mother"? he asked painfully, halfy afraid of the answer.

OOC:Edited my post.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 2 2007, 09:49 PM

OOC: Tellie, I seriously doubt that the Plys'Iea would simply stand and watch as James downs an invisibility potions and limps away. On top of that, Flint is still some distance away, on top of a roof. And finally, the Plys'Iea has these spines on its back that catch vibrations in the air. So, maybe we should ask Revan what to do before playing it out?

Green-Root.

Vasha gazed at the shadowy faces around her. Behind her, her own group stood in a broad line. Green-Root leaned against the wall in a corner. Vasha closed her eyes for a moment before addressing her public.
,,Kinsman, we have all seen the battle unfold. It is clear that as things are now, this force we call the Silhouette shall win. If it wins, Tamriel shall be ruined. This is the point of no return." She took a deep breath.
,,I propose for us to take up our 'former trade' just for this once. To strike deep in the heart of the Empire's foes. To take out key members of the invaders, including their supreme leader. I will wait till a messenger has brought our Sensei before we shall resume this meeting."

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 2 2007, 10:04 PM

OCC: I'll let Minque reply to Haldin, and the Narza'Tai are the converted renmants of the fallen D. Brotherhood by the way. Just wanted to bring it up since the Delvannis have such a dislike for them.

Plys'Iea

He perked up as the trebuchet began to swing, his spines flared out, completely still. As the large projectile arced above, he also felt the captive he'd taken get up and limp to another unseen being. The alien shrieked and dove through broken window to take cover from the debris.

He neither cursed the trebuchet, nor the people he was fighting, but the shrapnel and motion that made him temporarily unable to sense their movements were the subject of his ire. The time of stalking has come to an end, now to take the kill.....

The Narza'Tai, with Karn is nearby

Suddenly, three goblins rushing towards the breach were carved to pieces by unseen blades. Then a bandit fell lifelessly to the ground, his jugular pouring his life-blood. Another lurched forward, a crossbow bolt sticking partially out of his throat.

"The first blood," all of the assassins muttered together. As their victims finished collapsing, six cloaked Narza'Tai 'dervishes' allowed for their enemy to see what had killed their fellows. Their masks were the color of the blood they'd spilled onto their weapons.
Arrows flew from the walls and from vantage points on the ruined structures around the plaza. Two dervishes dropped down from a nearby balcony to land on either side of the Dunmer witch known as Salina Delvanni.....

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 2 2007, 10:11 PM

OOC: Ah, the Trebuchet. Forgot about that one. Alright, here we go.

Flint Ironwood.

As the stone projectile arced overhead, Flint saw the Plys'Iea stiffen and leap away. He also lost track of James as the man went invisible. But he was too injured. He couldn't have gone far.
,,Now, while I have the chance."

The Breton leapt down and cast a detection spell. He then ran for the sparkling cloud and hauled James off the ground. Without wasting time explaining, the old man wrapped his arms tight around his load, ignoring whatever pain he was causing to those battered ribs.
,,Hold on, we're going to pierce the clouds!" He warned as he pushed off from the ground with all the strenght he could muster.

OOC: Off to bed.

Satyana

Satyana looked at Haldin with an utmost sad gaze, and she nodded slowly at his outburst

"Oh Hal! She got her! That cursed witch really got her! I..I don´t know if Serene maybe can do something if we can reach her....Oh Haldin I´m so sorry.."

OOC: I presume Hal understands that Salina killed her....from what Satyana said.....And I wonder is Telina really quite dead?

Amrita

Amrita approached her sister and Haldin, a stony look on her face. She cleared her throat.

"I know we haven't been on the best of terms sister but I thought I would let you know that if anyone knows how to beat Salina it would be me. That's because I've lived with her and know basically everything she has up her sleeve. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't know the same about me."

Haldin let out a string of curses not even caring about the fact that he stood before a girl he considered something between a sister and a niece. "Why I ought to...when I get my hands on that filthy traitor...bloody rip her to shreds...", he contiinued grumbling for himself before a smile lit up his face, he gave a short snigger before smirking to Satyana.

"Remember my mother was always liked quite much by Azura...oh I cant wait to see what Azura does to my treacherous aunt, she wont do anything harmful, but a sereies of unfortunate event coupled by the most rotten luck in the world, is probably one of the thigns thats gonna happen...not to mention every Winged Twilight in the world is gonna attack her on sight now", he continued laughing to himself at the tought what his aunt would do now that the Delvann (un)fortunate family luck would probably be boosted to even worse levels.

Turning serious again he looked at Amrita, "you know, I think you may be able to help, I know my mother almost as good as I know my own pockets, and she trained thjat...wench herself, so coupled with our knowledge I think we can give my aunt a one way ticket to the afterlife", he finished grimly, looking down at his mothers face again he felt another flow of tears come, "We should bury her, or take her away from this battle anyways!", he said softly, bowing down to give a kiss at his mothers forehead goodbye mother, he whispered.

OOC:Now now minky that would be telling wouldn't it? but rest assured Telina isn't entirely out of the story just yet...'wink wink'

Dan

As Dan stood, tired, near the breach he could see the Dunmer which had helped him in the fight with the alien go to the dead Dunmer wizard which Dan had met before the breach was made. It seemed she was someone very close to him by the way he cursed and sobbed at the same time. Dan was now alone again, as he ever was. Flint had gone to save James, which had been kidnapped by the odd beast in an attempt to escape from the fight.

Since Dan had nothing else to do except wait for the next time to prove his mettle, he went to the body of the Dunmer wizard.

"Was she someone close to you?" Dan asked the Dunmer warrior which had helped them. He was curious to learn the name of the Dunmer wizard as well, since he had never asked her himself.

Learning her name is the least I could do.

Haldin

Haldin looked at the Nord who had arrived, instead of questioning the intrusion made in his mind by telepathy he smiled at him. "She was my mother, Telina Delvanni, and my name is Haldin Delvanni, Warrior Priest", he said, extending his hand in the western fashion.

'You are a good man', he said telepathically to Dan, "What's your name master Nord"?

OCC: What about Salina and the Narza'Tai?

Issac

"If you want to bury her, then that's fine, but perhaps cremation would be just as well?" He said for the first time entering the conversation. Looks like I'm not the only one to lose a mother to this war...... "Regardless, we should stop standing here right next to the breach."

Posted by: Agent Griff Oct 3 2007, 08:07 PM

Dan

Hm, it seems it's a family trait not to be offended by telepathy. I like such traits.

"My name is Dan, though some have called me Blade-Mouth in times past, for reasons which are obvious." Dan said with a frown of sorrow. "You fought well Haldin son of Telina, much as I would have if I were younger and my limbs would be strong as they once were. Your mother fought well too, on her part at least."

He then turned his look to the Altmer which had intervened in the conversation. Dan smiled.

"Agreed, master Elf. My blade still has a lust to sing. The day is not over yet so it's time may come. Let us go. Lead the way!"

Satyana looked sadly at Amrita, sighed and said:

"Alright sister, I get the message, let's plan how we should get to Salina, but we have to get out of here, and try to protect the body."

Serene! help me, what shall we do!"

Satyana focussed...trying to reach her grandmother through telepathy. Then she turned to Issac and Haldin;

"Help me carry her out of here and we'll have to find a spot to stash the body"

James and Flint.

James cringed when they flew up. The sudden acceleration and change of direction made him dizzy. When they finally met solid ground again, Flint let go, and James dropped to his knees. He tried to maintain as much dignity as he could but in his current condition, he failed miserably.
,,Well, took you bloody long enough, old geezer. If you had been any slower, I would have walked out myself." He boasted.

Flint shook his head at that.
,,Yeah, right. I bet you would have. And just after you had struggled to your feet, that thing would have whacked you ten metres into the ground." He replied and then waved over a healer.
,,I suggest you take some rest." He said and walked away to a quiet location where he could fix his armour.
,,Is it just me, or does my stuff always get wrecked five minutes after I patched it all up?"

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 9 2007, 01:33 PM

OCC: Sorry, I been busy with Halo 3 and stuff. Issac hasn't let go of Telina.

Issac

"Alright, let's get moving then." He muttered, making sure he still had a good grip on Telina's corpse. The minor feather enchantment he'd placed on the body was still in affect, good.

Plys'Iea

The shrapnel had cleared, but a good deal of dust and small pieces of wood still hung in the air. While the second floor had collapsed on him, he'd been a position that his head had not been injured. Using all of his strength, the hunter pushed up and out of the rubble.

For the first time since it had arrived at Nirm, he was tired, breathless. Still, he continued, regaining his strength as he went, slowly, back to the enemy position.

Dan

Dan stood and looked around nervously. Things had calmed down after the dissapearance of the alien beast. The enemy seemed to fight more ferociously than they usually did while the beast was present, yet after it dissapeared their will faltered and they retreated. Dan however felt as if this was the calm before the storm. He held Balmung tightly, ready to unsheath it at the slightest sign of danger.

"Then you might want to hurry. No telling when that creature comes back. I'll stay here and guard your back, though I doubt that will do much good if that thing is to return and I am alone to face it." Dan said telepathically to all three. He then returned to pacing about and watching the breach, and all nearby rooftops for that matter.

The Heavans broke through the oppressive cloudcover in some places, but his culture didn't worship the idea of gods, only the concept of the Hunting Grove. His ebony-black and emerald plate armor shone dully in the light.

The goblins have retreated, it figures. But the huntrer was not bothered by the lack of support, These..... warriors are children and old dogs with weapons of war. They are no true threat. Satyana

"Ok Dan....that´s nice of you, you won´t regret it I promise" Satyana gave Dan a faint smile. She was glad Issac still held on to Telina, he was much stronger than her and besides it would let her scan the surroundings for a safe spot....

"Dear sister" she turned to Amrita, "Maybe you can help out here, we need to get to a safe place if we should plan how to eradicate that witch"

Then finally she embraced Haldin, after all it was his mother who lay in Issac´s arms....lifeless.

Haldin

He held Satyana tight to his chest, the loss of his mother got to him more than he would have imagined, there was an empty hole in his chest...and the only thing that soothed him now was to hold Satyana tight.

"Tyana..please, get Serene to come here....she´s the only one who can help me"

After picking up the movements of troops, he picked where he'd attack first based on the quantity of "men" he could slaughter before getting a response.

There was a staging area where several soldiers were gathered to get new orders from Flogir......

Rann

Seeing that Flogir appointed someone else to his job, he decided to hang around while the slightly younger messenger ran off.

"The problem's back," he said flatly, as he noticed the strange monster's approach, "It's armor's thick though. I'll need something better than this scrap of metal," he said, casting a disappointed glance at his iron sword. His katana forged from ebony hadn't done any harm to the creature, and Rann wouldn't be surprised if he could break his new sword over his knee.

Altair

Altair was shouting loudly, but he couldn't tell if many of the men could even hear him. He had noticed many of the trebuchets at work, though, and that made him a bit more at ease.

"Sir!" a young messenger said, approaching Altair with a quick salute, "There was a breach over there, but we've done good so far at holding it. When I left though, Flogir and the others were in some danger..." he pointed in their direction, and Altair could make out the form of the monster nearing Flogir, Rann, and a few soldiers.

Altair wanted badly to be over there to battle the monster himself, but he didn't think it prudent to leave his post without leadership.

Amrita, he called out telepathically, Stop what you're doing. Find your brother and help him; I think he may be in a bit more trouble than he can deal with. you wanted to save his life once, right?

"Alright, I won't send you back over there," he said to the messenger, "Grab a bow and quiver and start shooting," he pushed the boy towards the wall and went back to surveying the battle.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 11 2007, 06:39 AM

Flogir

Flogir turned to Rann as he made his comment. He then scanned the area and noticed that the strange creature was indeed returning once again. Flogir cursed and began to warn his troops of the approaching threat.

"Well Rann, our stores aren't that bountiful at the moment. Perhaps if you ask Voltar over there, he might be able to provide an enchantment of some sorts upon your blade. That could potentially make your weapon more durable hopefully," he suggested to Rann and pointed out that the Altmer was nearby before turning to his archers, "I wanna see a volley sent at that beast!"

Amrita

Amrita was about to utilize her powers to escort Satyana and company to a safer location when Veric's message sounded in her head. She quickly scanned the area and noticed, that Rann was indeed in a tough situation. She turned to her sister, a worried expression on her face.

"Rann appears to be in trouble, sister! He'll need my assistance to take care of that beast, so I can only tell you how to get to safety," she said in a hurried manner before giving them instructions on how to get to near Altair's location behind the walls.

"As long as Altair holds the walls, being behind them will be safe for you and the others. I will meet with you there after I help our brother," she said before heading that way. If any of the others wanted to join her, they would have to catch up.

Plys'Iea

He snarled at a small knot of troops, who responded by hiding behind their raised shields. The hunter towered above the crouching soldiers, but as he began to swing at the stationary targets, he felt the archers as they nocked their arrows.

Rather than wheel around and present his only unarmored spot, the Plys'Iea remained inert, the arrows struck his armor, but were deflected harmlessly. Due to his great hieght, even if the soldiers did attempt to slay him, their swords no more peirce his plate armor than reach his head.
The archers are the only threat, however marginal. His right hand slipped its grip down, almsot all the way to the flail, giving him the most reach he could. As the archers nocked their next volley, the alien leapt back, toward them.

From this angle, the archers were usless, their arrows didn't have the force to penetrate the alien armor. They held their fire and then scattered as the giant alien drew close enough to strike with his staff. For the briefest time, I was prey, but their chance has gone....

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 12 2007, 03:52 AM

Rann

Upon seeing the archers scatter at the coming of the alien, Rann looked to Flogir, determination in his eyes.

"You go; we can't afford to lose you. I'll try to keep him from pursuing," he said, seriously questioning his own sanity at the same time.

He glanced over at the thing to see it steadily growing nearer. It was a score or more yards away, but his way was completely clear as the archers seemed to lose heart. He took a deep breath and walked to meet him.

He thought about absorbing some magicka from the area around him, but he wasn't skilled enough in the use of his own ability to pick and choose who or what he stole the power from. The last thing he wanted was to sap some poor defender on the wall of his defenses.

Just keep him from catching up to Flogir. he reminded himself. The object wasn't to kill it, though if the opportunity arose, it would be a miraculous development in the battle.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 12 2007, 08:06 AM

Flogir

Flogir cursed as the archers scattered after their failed attack. Rann then offered to slow down the creature single handedly. Flogir gritted his teeth in frustration; he did not want to leave his friend. The situation though demanded for him to allow Rann his wish.

"Good luck, Rann," Flogir said before he left. He decided he'd meet up with Altair since his messenger had yet to return.

Amrita

Amrita still hadn't reached Rann yet. From her vantage point, she could see that Rann intended to face off against the creature single handedly.

"You just had to make this difficult for me didn't you, Rann?" Amrita muttered darkly as she withdrew her two crossbows. She was also prepared to release a shadow shard should the situation grow desperate.

OCC: The staff can miss by a bit and imbed itself in the ground, or it could clip Flogir and injure him a bit. Up to you Mallet.

Plys'Iea

The alien heard the words spoken, and understood their meaning. Clearly, this man is valuable to their forces.... He turned to look upon Rann and the retreating Flogir. Suddenly, the warrior raised his staff over his shoulder and threw it.

The balanced weapon spun through the air like the a wagon wheel, arcing toward the Nord Co-Commander.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 12 2007, 02:16 PM

OOC: I might just take Mannimarco. I'll have to reread though on what is going on and what the planned outcome is. Frankly, the Necromancer plot doesn't touch my characters so I didn't pay that much attention to it.

Flint Ironwood, sitting at some quiet spot.

Flint scowled as he peeled back the top layer of his armour.
,,Ayayay. Cracked pretty bad I see. Well crap it, does anyone have any idea how much work it is to fix this kind of damage? Maybe I should downgrade to steel chain, it's easier to reforge. Ah, quality versus ease of fixing. Nah, I think I'm going to stick with glass." He disconnected the glass plates and after some debate, he removed all the other plates as well. Since he was going to fix glass anyway, he might as well handle the general wear and tear while he was at it.

Rann

Rann didn't spot the staff until too late; it had already whizzed by his head at an incredible speed. If he had reacted a bit more quickly, he would have tried to get in its way, but that idea was now impossible.

"Flogir!" he shouted loudly, as he spun around to look at their leader. Unfortunately, that movement left his back to the Plys'Iea.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 12 2007, 04:26 PM

Flogir

Flogir turned just in time to see the hurled object. Flogir jumped to the side to avoid the object but he wasn't quick enough. The blunt edge of the object smacked against one of his legs and sent the Co-Commander scuttling across the cobblestones.

The blow didn't knock him unconcious but Flogir groaned and gritted his teeth. His leg was broken. Still, knowing that he needed to get away, Flogir began to crawl away.

This is not good...

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 12 2007, 06:15 PM

OOC: I'll take Mannimarco for now. I still have to pick up on the current situation though. Where are Ian/Cerpin/Karn? And another question though I'll be looking for it myself. Is it the intention for Mannimarco to be beaten?

Mannimarco.

The King of Worms stood in the mausoleum of a temple. All around him, there were graves. Graves of heroes. He cast a wicked smile at the cold walls. The bodies here would do well. He would turn them into something better than a zombie or skeleton. He would make them into Liches, bound to his will.
,,Rise, my faithful servants. I have need of you. Heed your master's call." He chanted.

To his left, one grave's cover cracked. A skeletal hand burst through, still covered by a silver gauntlet. Mannimarco looked at the sight and admit to himself that this was better than expected. Not only would he raise heroes with all the skill they posessed in life, he would raise them with their full equipment.
,,Yes, come. Be reborn in the shadow of death."

OOC: Hero Lich or not, I bet that half a dozen of these won't last long beyond five minutes if the Ian/Karn combo gets serious.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 12 2007, 10:36 PM

OCC: Cerpin and Ian are both leading the party of Narza'Tai assassins into the Temple District, Karn is.... somewhere. He's presently hidden and watching the fighting at the breach, the Narza'Tai will take part in carving through the Silhoutte's minions soon enough.

We were thinking of Mannimarco being vanquished (once and for all) at the final encounter between Silhoutte, Tamrielic, and Undead (before there's a year long interlude of Veric's rule).

Ian, outskirts of the Temple District

While the temple was an arrowshot from the gates, getting all the way to the structure on foot was not so simple. The cobblestones didn't seem too stable, as if the ground beneath them had been disturbed. Leeched of life is more like it, Ian thought.

The vampire could smell the heavy scent of death and decay in the air. "Some much for sanctuary; this place has been overtaken just as easily and fully as any other the Necromancer's could have attacked." He muttered.
The group leader of the Narza'Tai replied, her normally gentle voice had a dark tone to it. "Death and Justice will have their vengeance, for we shall strike down those who have profaned both...." Ian remained silent, his blood-colored eyes scanning the grounds around the temple from their vantage point on top of a partially collapsed building.

Plys'Iea

Seizing the chance when Rann presented his back to him, the alien lunged forward, his eleven-inch-long neck drawn back, his jaws open wide, ready to sink his fangs into the Dunmer's shoulder.

Mannimarco, temple district.

Mannimarco was surrounded by seven other liches. Claymores, axes, polearms and even a warhammer or two shone dully in the torchlight.
,,You will be my personal guard. The mortals are focussed on defending their precious wall at a breach. Now is the time for us to strike where they aren't expecting it." He spoke and moved towards the door.
,,If I can take over the bodies of the wounded, I'll be able to put out an army of more fearsome zombies than they've seen up to this point."

Coming out of the temple, the necromancer shielded his eyes against the sun for a moment.

OOC: I have no idea what time it is honestly, but anyway, he's outside now, with his bodyguards.

Plys'Iea

Seizing the chance when Rann presented his back to him, the alien lunged forward, his eleven-inch-long neck drawn back, his jaws open wide, ready to sink his fangs into the Dunmer's shoulder.

Rann

Rann instinctively turned around quickly, but not quick enough to avoid the alien's razor-sharp fangs from slicing the top of his shoulder. Rann was just glad that they weren't embedded in his bone.

The Plys'Iea's lunge put him a few feet away, and Rann began to circle the monstrosity, his shoddy sword in hand. He could feel the blood trickling down his arm from his shoulder, and though he knew that the wound wasn't serious, it still hurt enough to affect his movements. He avoided looking in Flogir's direction, since Rann felt that it would remind the alien of their leader's presence. He could only pray that the nord was standing up to escape, not still sprawled out on the street from a staff's throw.

Turning his thoughts back to the alien and the battle at hand, Rann realized that he was at an even greater disadvantage than he'd first thought. With its weapon gone, his opponent was forced to fight with claws and fangs; and Rann had little to no chance against that armor and those fangs with his pathetic weapon. Close quarters were not what he needed.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 14 2007, 05:56 AM

Amrita

Amrita's crossbow was still useless at such a range. She did have a particularly nasty lightning spell that could work though. Taking careful consideration that no other target would get in her way, she unleashed a powerful shock spell towards the creature.

"Perhaps it'll startle it enough for Rann to get out of there..."

Flogir

With Flogir's leg in it's current state, Flogir needed something to give him some support to get to his feet. He pulled out Iceshard, grimacing as it bumped along his injured leg and using it as a crutch, pushed himself onto one foot. He then began to hobble away.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 14 2007, 03:32 PM

Plys'Iea

He felt the lightning an instant before it struck. The bulk of the spell was deflected by his armor, but a portion shocked the alien enough to cause brief physical agony. Faint wisps of smoke curld off of the Plys'Iea's armor and scales.

He turned his head far enough for one eye to remain on the Dunmer, and the other to spot Amrita. It occured to the alien to use the Dunmer as a shield against further lightning spells, an attack that still mystified him.
But the electrical shock wasn't enough to be debilitating, so he chose instead to ignore the lightning.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 14 2007, 11:51 PM

Rann

Rann obviously mistook Amrita's purpose in helping. The idea that she wanted him to run didn't even cross his mind; he just understood that he had a partner in the fight now.

Noticing the way the alien shifted its position, Rann decided to act strategic. He continued circling around the Plys'Iea until he and Amrita were on opposite sides of the brute, making it difficult for it to keep visual contact with both of them at the same time. If the monster decided to face one of them outright, there would be someone at his back.

Cerpin

"If we are to assume that this district is Mannimarco's new base of operations, then we would also be safe in assuming that he is residing in the temple; it is the most defensible and comfortable place in the district. And it also has a tomb underneath. Logical place for a necromancer, no?"

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 15 2007, 12:33 AM

Ian

The vampire nodded, he saw the door to the Temple open and the necromancer himself stride out with seven armored corpses. "He just walked out of the temple, must not expect to be attacked in the center of his territory."

I could shoot him from here, Ian thought, but dismissed the idea. "Let's get closer, those seven undead are different from normal liches, who did they have beneath the Temple?"

Plys'Iea

"Attempting to surround me? Have you learned nothing since our first encounter?" He hissed at them. Rather than retreat immediately, he decided to use a simple counter. Facing neither, he took a slow step back (to the left/right of Rann and Amrita) his eyes moving independantly to track both simultaniously.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 15 2007, 11:02 PM

Cerpin

"Those that receive the honor of being buried beneath the temple did so because of great deeds," he answered, "Though I don't know exactly who was buried there."

Rann

Rann looked to Amrita with an expression that seemed to ask her if she was making the first move.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 16 2007, 01:16 AM

Ian

He turned to the Narza'Tai leader, "You and your assassins know where you will work best. I understand you're all under orders to keep excess undead off our backs and leave the necromancers to us."

The robed woman replied, beneath her mask. "Aye, by the time Mannimarco is slain, his followers and undead servants will be gone from this world for good."
Ian nodded curtly, "Let's not waste this opportunity then, Mannimarco's in the open and vulnerable." Expecting Cerpin to follow, the vampire turned and began to make his way through the rubble toward the temple.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 16 2007, 01:15 PM

Mannimarco.

Mannimarco stopped suddenly, his Liches moving in to surround him and ward him from threats at all sides.
,,I feel death in the air, but it's not mine." The necromancer whispered. But as of yet, he had not yet pinpointed the vampire's position.
,,He's here, somewhere! The vampire, he has come. Prepare yourselves, my servants."

OOC: I really have the feeling that I'm playing a different Mannimarco than Priest's. I guess we have a different style or something. For one thing, mine seems weaker.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 17 2007, 04:33 AM

Cerpin

Cerpin followed Ian for a small amount of time, but he was soon walking alongside the vampire as they approached the Temple entrance.

Cerpin looked over at Ian with a very serious expression, and began to speak quietly, so as not to be overheard, "I know you don't approve of my methods, but I think it's the best way to escape alive. I'll go at Mannimarco first; you hang back and take care of his minions. I will let him gain a serious advantage, and bring me to the brink of death. At that very moment, I will switch bodies with the filthy wizard and one of us will take that opportunity to kill the King of Worms, who in this beaten body won't have much fight left."

Rann

Amrita paused one moment too long. Rann didn't want her to be the target of the monster, especially if she was unable to think of an attack. To buy her some more time, Rann charged in. He jumped in the air with his sword high above his head, ready for a strike to the alien's head.

OOC: swat him away, let him hit, I don't care.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 17 2007, 01:16 PM

OCC: WHen the swap occures, Ian will only be able to get Kirana's soul back, so Mannimarco can manage to teleport, or whatever away. Perhaps in the confusion of an all-out zombie rush.

Ian

"As long as it works, just don't take to much time before swapping." The vampire replied, if Mannimarco was dead for good, then he didn't care how the necromancer was to die.

Plys'Iea

When the Dunmer attacked, he swiveled his head to face him. Lowering himself slightly, the alien himself moved into the elf's jump, and his head shot forward. His jaws snapped shut on Rann's other arm, while his teeth weren't meant for tearing meat like his more ancient ancestors, they were suited to maintaining grip on food once it had it.

With a lunge in the direction of the female Altmer, the Plys'Iea swung his head, and Rann with it, at Amrita. He released Rann's arm at the right time for him to land near or on his other opponent. The alien snarled, blood dripping from his maw. "Now, little prey, you have lost your 'advantage.'"

OCC: We also need to move Satyana and co. Wouldn't it suck of one of Mannimarco's necromancers found Telina's body?

Issac

While he understood this was a family reunion of sorts, Issac grew somewhat impatient to get moving. "We need to do something about your mother's body, then we can try killing that witch and calling Serene." The Altmer didn't know where the others had in mind to put Telina's body, but he started off in a random direction: the Elven Gardens, away from the breach.

Haldin

Haldin nodded at issac, wiping the tears away, I agree that we shold do som-" the rest of what he was about to say was cut of as his mothers body started to shine a bright white light, before dissapearing in a bang. Haldin looked on in shock for a few seconds before chuckling, "it appears that not even in death my mother can run out of surprises".

No one noticed the book that Satyana had been iven glowed white for a brief seconds, but Satyana definately felt the small warmth that lingered for a few minutes.

James.

James looked surly up at the old man who had replied to HIM of all people with sarcasm, that James felt was an insult, he was supposes to be sarcastic not the other way around.

"Well if I couldn't have gotten away what took you so bloody long, age turned you into an old goat", he snapped at Flint, before to his horror he felt his eyelids close, and he fell to the ground in a dead faint.

OOC: Decided that I wouldn't want telina re-animated...it could have very adverse and painful consequenses to a certain poor necromancer...remember nothing is ever normal when it comes to a Delvanni *smirk*

And James being his usual Jamsia manner just had to get the last word tongue.gif

Issac

He was stunned when Telina suddenly began to glow, and then vanished from his arms altogether. However, he decided to take Haldin's word for it, and treat the weird occurance as if it was nothing irregular.

Issac only noticed the book was shining as it began to darken again, but simply raised an eyebrow, expecting someone to elaborate if necessary on what was going on.

Amrita

Amrita was about to prepare a spell when Rann went to attack the creature. The action caused her to hesitate and she suddenly found that Rann was being hurled at her. She quickly casted a slowfall spell on Rann and it allowed her to side step Rann.

She examined the weapon Rann had and tossed him one of her daggers. "The enchantment on that might be of some help. Might be a bit difficult to use in this situation but it's the best I have. Cover your eyes now."

To buy them some time, Amrita evoked a powerfully bright light spell, seeking to blind their opponent.

Mannimarco, temple district.

The necromancer gazed about. Up there, a collection of souls.
,,You can't hide from me, vampire!" He snarled as he threw a curse Ian's way. The constant meddling of that man and the utter persistance he showed was becoming highly annoying.

All around the temple district, zombies stopped their aimless lumbering and turned, at which point they began a slow yet relentless push at the invaders.

OOC: The zombies are still out of melee range, not to mention that they won't be able to climb up on the walls anyway. But Cerpin's bodyswitch might prove difficult. I mean, wasn't it a touch spell? Mannimarco isn't a melee-freak. The best thing to do would be for Ian and Narza'Tai to run distraction so that Cerpin can sneak in.

Flint Ironwood, at a quiet spot.

Flint merely smiled when James passed out and a healer rushed over to attend to him.
,,Finally, was about time he stopped being such a smartass. And I guess he didn't notice the collateral damage of the distraction I used."

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 18 2007, 10:27 PM

OCC: Alright, I'm sure a vampire and eleven, or so, professional assassins can be very distracting. The next few liches won't be dispached so easily, nor will they fight one-on-one.

Ian

"Then I shall expect the same from you, Worm King!" He shot back, jumping down from a pillar, the curse flying over him. "Sent your minions against me, and I shall slay them, AGAIN and AGAIN!"

The vampire's wrist blades lit up once again, heat radiating from their surface. Ian met the charge of the first orc-lich bodyguard, spinging inward to avoid the blunt weapon's strike. As the war hammer struck the stonework, he jumped slightly to land on the handle.
The unexpected burden forced the lich, however strong, to it knees. Before it could properly recover and throw the vampire off, the undead's head was cleaved in two by a scalding hot spike.

Ian landed easily, stepping over the body of the first lich, the remains of the head were smoking faintly. As the next two liches moved in, crossbow bolts, broadened to slice but not pierce, flew from vantage points as three of the Narza'Tai opened fire on the hoarde of undead.
The decaying flesh was no match for the specialized rounds, legs were halfed and necks were separated from torsos.

Plys'Iea

The brutal light burned his retinas, forcing him to step back and shut his eyelids tightly. The recoil lasted for a split second, before he regained his composure, with his eyes still pained, he did the best he could to compensate.
The alien's six extra-sensory appendages lengthened to their maximum, flaring out in different directions. One above each shoulder, to the left and right, and tow down toward the ground. His sixth sense was so well-developed, through nearly constant use, that it worked just as well as his sight.

The light of the witch's spell did not affect his ability to detect motion, he could fight just as well this way as he could with his eyes open...... but then he would have used both primary senses. As the Dunmer caught a dagger that thrummed oddly, he leapt toward the female, whom he suspected was a witch of some sort.
His large, four-fingered hand formed a fist the size of a typical humanoid's head, and attempted to strike Amrita.

Cerpin

Cerpin didn't use tactics as straightforward as Ian's. Instead, he stayed atop the stonework with the Narza'Tai, but while they shot crossbow bolts, he summoned lightning bolts and fireballs, eventually concentrating his fire on the two liches that faced Ian.

Cerpin could barely see Mannimarco in the distance, but there was a wall of undead blocking the way.

Rann

Amrita had told him to close his eyes before the dagger even reached his hand. Surprising even himself, he caught the dagger, but when he opened his eyes again, their foe was headed straight for Amrita, the monstrous fist threatening to crush her skull.

Feeling as if he had no choice, he drained a moderate amount of magicka from Amrita and immediately felt it coursing through his own veins. He didn't have much time to be creative, so he put a shield on Amrita as he ran to attack with his dagger.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 19 2007, 06:22 AM

Amrita

As Amrita recovered from her spell use, she was surprised to see that the creature was lunging in for an attack almost instantly after her spell. A slight chill went up her spine as she felt her magicka being drained by Rann. She didn't know that Rann had such an ability.

Just before the fist of the creature landed, Amrita sensed the shield spell surround her. The fist smacked against the barrier and caused Amrita to slide backwards from the force; but she was unharmed.

She paused a brief moment as she figured out how the beast could recover from such a blinding spell so quickly. Obviously it had other ways to sense them. She then noticed that six spikes located on the body of the beast had increased and were twitching constantly. She pointed at them.

"Aim for those spiky appendages! I think they're like motion sensors," she instructed Rann as she aimed a bolt at one particular one and fired.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 19 2007, 07:10 AM

Rann

Rann had closed the distance between himself and the Plys'Iea, and sticking Amrita's dagger into his belt, he decided to try Amrita's suggestion. He gripped his sword with both hands and with a mighty overhead chop, swung at one of the appendages, unsure of what would happen next.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 19 2007, 07:30 AM

Mannimarco.

Mannimarco cursed. The vampire was good, easily slaying one of his new Liches. At the same time, a torrent of crossbow bolts and magicka rained down upon his forces. The Lich-king rose his hands into the sky and, after sending a curse at the origin of that firing, scores of zombified birds leaped for the skies, momentarily blackening the sun as they sweeped around for an attack on the walls their ground-bound kin couldn't reach.

OOC: The individual birds are fragile as hell and can't do much damage. Any form of armour is enough to stop a peck. So mostly they're distraction (and meatshield)

Flint Ironwood.

Flint looked up for a moment as a shadow rose. He didn't remember any clouds blocking the sun.
,,Ah, crap." He muttered as he identified the source of the darkness as countless flying animals of some sort. The way they moved in a thick swarm made him shiver involuntarily.
,,Something's wrong. Big time." The Breton concluded. He looked down at the work in his hands. It would take at least half an hour to reassemble his armour, and most of it was still in pretty poor condition at that.

He dropped the pile, picked up Aleatoire and leapt straight up so he could see out over the city.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 19 2007, 12:45 PM

OCC: The birds should also be a great way to disease the army

Plys'Iea

He only comprehended the female's words as her lighting struck one of his spines. The electricity caused the appendage to multiply the pain threefold. The towering alien lost his footing, incidently, causing Rann's dagger to miss.

He caught himself, and instinctively rolled to the left. As he rose, he reminded himself that the lightning had only disabled that individual spine temporarily, and if his foes managed to cleave part of them off, it would grow back with time.
His sense was still active, albiet, not quite as clear, but that luxury would return in a minute as the damaged spine recovered. The Plys'Iea was forced to understand face the truth, these creatures knew of his spines, their vulnerability. No longer could he toy with them, nor could he continue to fight at such a close range.

With that he retreated rapidly, using his senses to detect his discarded staff.

Ian

As a small murder (group of crows) swooped down to assail Ian, he cast a minor shield spell, enough to ward off the mad pecking for a time. As the two liches burned, the vampire drew his bow for a moment and let loose a couple of frost arrows, partially freezing and sticking some zombies to the stone work.
Before another group of liches approached, he stowed the projectile weapon and held up his burning wrist blades, prepared for another melee.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 19 2007, 05:06 PM

Rann

Rann saw that the alien was retreating, so he threw his sword after him as hard as he could. Being that it was a sword, though, and not to mention an unbalanced one, it fell short and did nothing but make a clamor on the cobblestone streets.

"Thanks for that lightning earlier," he said between heavy breathing. His heart was racing, which only multiplied the amount of blood pouring from both bite wounds on his shoulder and arm.

He wanted nothing more than to go back after the creature, but he knew that he would be ill-prepared. Looking around, he spotted Flogir propping himself up on Iceshard, still giving orders to his men who were hard at work keeping the zombies from entering the breach in the wall.

Cerpin

"Take cover!" he shouted to the Narza'Tai around him. With a quick glance, he was satisfied that all assassins were properly sheltered.

He cast a large area of effect frost spell and watched as many of the birds fell to the ground and shattered into tiny pieces of ice. There were still more birds that would prove to be annoyances, but at least he could see the true target again.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 21 2007, 01:25 PM

Ian

The next two liches were a Dunmer in glass with a dai-katana and legionnaire with the typical sword and shield. Ian stepped to the side and used his left wrist spike, plus the long blade's momentum to move the chop harmlessly to the left.
The vampire slammed his free arm in the glass breast plate, it cracked at the point of impact but did not yield completely. By now the legionnaire had arrived, raising its longsword above its head for an impaling chop.

Ian threw himself away from the two, avoiding the legionnaire's strike. Both liches recovered and rushed toward the vampire again. Time to end this, the agent thought, his blades bursting into flame anew.

Dan, standing about

Dan stood, watching about as events unfolded around him. Up until the current moment he had been idly watching as two warriors did battle against the alien beast he himself had faced previously. The battle was fierce yet Dan was helpless since he was too far away from the action to actually help. He did try to support the two warriors fighting the beast with his prayers. As the battle seemed to become more and more dire, Dan could only wish that he was there as well, so he could at least sacrifice himself for the two brave warriors to escape. Unlike Dan, they had both their tongues and their lives ahead of them. Before Dan could contemplate more on the situation however, the skies were blackened by endless numbers of crows, which swooped down to attack the soldiers waiting for the next attack at the breach. Though they were frail, they would all swarm their prey until it had no choice but to flee or take cover. As Dan drew his blade he could see soldiers running about in a demoralized fashion, confused by the crows.

"Stand your ground! Face them and they shall fall!" Dan yelled telepathically, trying to rally the fleeing soldiers.

Soon enough, he himself starting running and swinging Balmung through the air wildly, hewing a few of the wretched birds in the process. Dan could also see with the tail of his eye that the assault at the breach had been renewed tenfold. The phalanx however was holding, with some difficulty. Spears glistened as they were being thrust about, all around the length of the shield wall. Men were pushing and shoving with all their strength, in a valiant effort to keep the enemy out of the city. The Imperial phalanx was being pushed back however. Recognizing the greater danger, Dan quickly ran to do his own share of pushing. With his utmost force, he slammed into the men holding the shieldwall, pushing them forward a little. He then kept on pushing, all the while rallying his comrades telepathically.

We won't last long without reinforcements. Where could the commander be?

Flogir however was unable to personally rally the shield wall. He was unable to do much of anything in his current state, except bark out orders desperately, in a faint hope that someone would listen.

Plys'Iea

Some distance away, the alien had recovered his staff. He rose back up and tentatively opened his eyes.

His vision was not quite back to normal, but most of the pain and shroud had deminished.
When the murders descended, he was far enough that the huge flock did not immediately reach him.

The hunter watched as soldiers attempted to flee or defend themselves against the pecking birds.
"The Maggot King's work I suspect"

Before a murder dived at his exposed head, the Plys'Iea wisely shut his eyes again.

While the birds played hell with his motion tracking, he would be able to navigate without possibly having his eyes pecked out, like some soldiers and goblins.

Mannimarco.

Mannimarco gritted his teeth. The Vampire was doing better than he had expected, even considering their earlier encounters and the man's allies.
,,No matter. I have converted this place's entire ecosystem to my cause. A single bug won't do much good, but how about a billion?" He nodded in thought and raised his hands again. This time, it appeared as if the entire ground had sprung to life. Ants, worms, two dogs, flies, mosquietos, caterpillars. It all swarmed to join the fight.

,,Go on, fight for your lives! I shall gladly make them mine!" He shouted at his opposition.

OOC: Warn me when I'm beginning to get too uber. Anyway, mosquetos and flies won't do more but cause some itching. The caterpillars are practically helpless. The dogs are straightforward. Treat them as a slightly faster but slightly weaker zombie. The real threat are the ants, even though they're slow. If they're allowed to swarm all over, they'll kill. Too bad you can knock out huge portions of them with a single fireball.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint had landed next to Odrik.
,,Hi, how's it going?" He asked. The Bruman waved a hand in greeting before he gazed back at the breach.
,,We're holding at the moment. My men are thinning the ranks beyond the wall, gives the phalanx less stuff to stab at. But what is that Necrophyliac doing? He zombified birds?" Odrik grunted.

Flint shrugged.
,,Hey, he's a necromancer. Why stick with humans? Speaking of which, maybe we should smash that temple before anything else comes out of it. The Trebuchet I had moved earlier should be able to hit it from its current position." He suggested casually. At first Odrik frowned but then he gave a single nod and relayed the order.
,,I don't think the Divines will appreciate this, but I think they appreciate that thing's infection even less."

Two minutes later, a slow stream of rocks blotted out the sun as they crashed down on the temple.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 22 2007, 04:19 AM

Ian

The sun faded for a moment, then there was the sounds of stones splintering. Masonry flew in different directions, smashed undead, and damaging other structures nearby. Ian leapt back before a man-sized piece of stone-work could splatter him.

One of the liches he was fighting got its side clipped by the shrapnel. The vampire glanced over his shoulder to see the other two stepping forth. Then, to his relief, the Narza'Tai group leader and another sword-wielding assassin appeared and intercepted the undead.
Ian turned his attention back to the Dunmer lich, twin, flaming wrist blades versus one very sharp dai-katana. He reminded himself not to take the lich as a nuisance only. So focused was the vampire, that he missed Mannimarco's ranting and the sections of paved streets being pushed aside by undead vermin.

Five more Narza'Tai appeared, all wielding fine blades, to impede the undead long enough for the deed to be done. One of the archers said to Cerpin, "We'll do our best to hold off the undead, take out Mannimarco."

OCC: Perhaps Cerpin won't get the chance to swap bodies, but otherwise tire the KOW out enough for Ian to get Kirana back, and gain a four of Mannimarco's fingers from whatever hand he's holding Kirana's gem with.....

Rann

Rann hadn't been using the mind shielding techniques that his sister taught him for quite some time, as nobody had been using telepathy as of late. Now, suddenly, someone was shouting encouragements in his thoughts.

He gave Amrita a questioning look that seemed to ask if she was 'hearing' the same thing he was. Her expression told him that she was, and he began looking around, trying to spot the one responsible.

Cerpin

Cerpin put a barrier spell on himself to avoid the nuisances of birds and insects while he took off after Mannimarco. He slipped on his glove as he went, mentally preparing himself for the beating he planned to purposefully take.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 26 2007, 12:18 PM

Mannimarco.

It didn't take Mannimarco long to realize that Cerpin was going for him. With all of the undead heroes kept busy by Ian, only regular undead stood between Cerpin and the Lich. They were too slow to present much of an obstacle.

Mannimarco prepared a curse he would throw as soon as Cerpin broke through the last line.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 27 2007, 06:52 AM

Amrita

Amrita eased her adrenaline-filled breathing at the vacation of the creature. She had done something she wanted to, plus she found out a way to actually hurt the beast. She would need to spread that knowledge along to the rest of the army.

Amrita then heard the telepathic message and noticed that Rann had heard it to. It seemed that he wanted to know who did it. Using her magical expertise, Amrita followed the leftover essence to an older man with a longsword. Amrita nodded to the man to tell Rann that was the person he was seeking.

Posted by: Agent Griff Oct 27 2007, 10:17 AM

Dan, fighting at the breach

The shield wall was being pushed back further and further by the assortment of creatures and men gathered to conquer the Imperial City. Enemy warriors and soldiers pushed and shoved with their shields as hard as they could, while goblins flung themselves at the shield wall, weakening and pushing it back with every suicidal wave that attacked. Dan could see that most of the soldiers were nervous, and some of the ones from the back rows were starting to loose heart and waver.

"Stand your ground, if we lose the breach the city will be lost! Do not falter!" Dan shouted telepathically once more, his message echoing in a wide radius about him.

Out of all the soldiers however, the captain of the phalanx seemed calm. He was in the third row, thrusting his spear at the enemy warriors pushing the shield wall back. After savagely thrusting his lance through the throat of a tall Nord clad in mail, the captain looked around him. After the phalanx was pushed back a few more steps, he suddenly opened his mouth.

"Halt!" he yelled with all his strength.

The phalanx then suddenly stopped, not retreating one step further. Every man braced himself and held his ground on order of the captain. The front row then pulled their spears back, while the second row held their shields forth.

"Engage!" the captain yelled.

Suddenly, the first row advanced one step, thrusting their spears at the same time, skewering the front rows of the enemy. They then retreated behind, while the second row advanced with their shields held high. The phalanx had become an impenetrable wall once more. The enemy then renewed their attacks.

"Engage!" the captain yelled once more.

As had been done before, the men all advanced one step, thrusting their spears in unison once more. Dan was amazed to see the Imperial soldiers all move as one unit, coherently and without signs of individual mistakes. After another row of enemies was skewered, the foes seemed to lose heart. Some of the goblins started running back. Soon enough, a trickle became a flood and most of the enemy soon started retreating. Dan could notice that some of the soldiers in the phalanx were restless and eager to pursue the enemy, yet one glare from the captain was enough to make them stand their ground. The battle had been won, yet the enemy would undoubtlessly return in greater numbers the next time.

Dan stood at ease as he walked away from the phalanx, with Balmung slung on his shoulder. He was getting hot under his mail so he started looking for some water to cool himself. A small fountain nearby was enough to both quench his thirst and cool him down as well. Dan then started looking around for the two brave warriors which had fought the enemy champion.

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 27 2007, 05:09 PM

Plys'Iea

The defenders had clearly forgetten about his presense, most were concentrated near the breach. The fools, he thought as he sensed a small group of civilians scavenging amongst the debris of once splendid structures.

Without hesitation, the alien honed in on them, one-by-one whenever one went out of sight of the others. His fangs ripped out their throats, his fists snapped their necks and smashed through their sternums, and his claws cleaved through their jugular viens.
In two minutes he stood alone, blood caking his boots, hands, and maw.

Though under-handed, the alien knew that slaughtering civilians would make even the most disiplined defenders disheartened and cloud their judgment.

Silently, the hunter slipped away, eager to further exploit this new hunting ground.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 27 2007, 07:13 PM

Flogir

Flogir limped over to the breach, using Iceshard as a makeshift crutch. He clapped the captain on the back with his free hand and grinned.

"Excellent work, Captain. Same goes for everyone; you've done this city proud!" he paused to let his words sink in. "Now that we have a moment's respite, try to get some food, some water, and perhaps some sleep. Captain, setup a watch schedule."

Flogir walked away from the men then as the Captain started barking orders. Flogir wanted to find someone who would help him with his leg.

Posted by: Dantrag Oct 29 2007, 04:55 AM

Rann

Rann looked over at the telepath that Amrita had pointed out, and watched as he led their side to a small victory at the breach. His mind wasn't completely there, though, as he was mostly thinking about how he hadn't been rendered unconscious after absorbing Amrita's power.

Her powers are of a dark nature.

It wasn't a fearful thought, nor was it one that changed his opinion of Amrita - after all, his own ability was considered to be dark in nature as well - he was merely curious and had a suspicion that she had her own set of unique abilities that she hadn't shared yet.

Rann then remembered what had happened last time he used his power, and he immediately pulled up his shirt sleeve to have a look at his tattooed arm. It was growing again, and still glowing red. If it was anything like the last time, though, it would stop in time. He then remembered that Amrita was standing right there, so he quickly pulled his sleeve back down and did his best to change the subject.

"Should we go meet the telepath then?" he asked.

Cerpin

Using a spell he had aptly named 'burning hands', his hands became engulfed in flame, and he used his fists to sear through half-rotten zombie flesh as he broke through the zombie line, trying to reach the necromancer. After a few short moments, he was through, and standing face-to-face with Mannimarco.

"The King of Worms, back from the grave to be beaten once more," he greeted, his yellow eyes staring at the mer in front of him with contempt.

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 29 2007, 08:20 PM

Mannimarco

Mannimarco laughed, a cheerless laugh.
,,You do think so? Fool, it is your grave that will be dug here!" He answered and hurled the curse he had prepared. If it hit, Cerpin would merely be paralyzed, nothing more. Or at least, nothing more for as far as the eye could see. But from within, a parasite would be born, a parasite that hungered for the flesh of its host.

Satyana

She looked around, for the moment could nothing be done about the fact that Telina´s lifeless body still lay beside them, her and Issac.

A figure came limping in their direction.....Was it?? really? Flogir?...but he was obviously hurt....

Satyana rose to her feet and almost ran towards flogir....

"Oh Flogir....are you badly hurt? Come, let me help you! Now if you´re not as stubborn as my dear brother that is.....and deny help from me!"

Satyana frowned....thinking of Rann made her upset....now apparently their sister had found a way to Rannie´s heart....that annoyed her quite a bit but she wouldn´t ever admit it

Where has my quiet comfortable life gone to? Where are my nice interesting days at The University of Chorrol?..Where are the cozy weekends at Sarethi Manor, with grandma and Athyn....?

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 31 2007, 04:35 PM

OOC: Didn't Telina's body disappear in a blast of light?

Flogir

Flogir couldn't help but chuckle at Satyana's remark. "Don't worry, lass. I'm not stubborn enough to reject help from you. So, if you wouldn't mind getting this leg here back to normal, I'd mighty appreciate it."

Amrita

Amrita was examining the current location after the beast left. She stopped a moment when she noticed that Rann was examining his arms. Amrita only noticed that they appeared to be smudged with a black substance before he hastily covered them up again. Amrita withheld raising her eyebrow up in curiosity as Rann asked his question.

"Sure, let's meet him," she replied and began to walk with him to the old man.

On the way, something occurred to her. Rann had casted a powerful shield spell on her, yet she didn't really sense any true magical ability in her brother to do so. "So, Rann.... I have to admit, I didn't take you as a magicka user. Where did you receive your training, if you don't mind me asking?"

Posted by: Lord Revan Oct 31 2007, 10:44 PM

OCC: Yes, she did, ah well, simple mistake to correct. biggrin.gif

Issac, helping Satyana out a bit.

He followed his love over to Flogir, greeting the commander with a kind nod.
While his magicka had not quite replenished itself, Issac had enough to spare some.

The Altmer focussed some of his energy into a fortify magicka spell and willingly donated it to Satyana.
"Work your magic, 'Tyana," He remarked lightly. Then he sat down on a nearby piece of debris and watched.

-Ian-

Undead hero and porphyric hemophilliac danced back and forth, one gaining ground before the other pushed back.

Ian found himself, oddly enough, challenged to gain any advantage and keep it against this experienced warrior.
The desecrated corpse was slightly stronger than him, but slower than the nimble and lighly armored vampire.

Then Ian suddenly remembered a fight nineteen years ago, at the gates of Kvatch.
In his mind's eye, the Dunmer was a mighty Dremora Markynaz.

The mindless zombie that intruded upon their duel was a devine blessing in disguise. In one flowing motion, Ian kicked the zombie in the direction of the Dunmer's thrust.
Half-decayed flesh easily parted as the katana drove home. Just like the leather shield so many years ago, the zombie's chest caught the sword rather nicely.

Wasting no time, the vampire knocked the zombie aside, and the Dunmer's blade with it. The moment of defenslessness was all it took.....

Posted by: minque Oct 31 2007, 11:16 PM

OOC: Didn´t Haldin take care of his mom´s corpse? I think he should..it would be so decent, right?

Satyana

She smiled at Issac, gladly accepting his donated magicka....she could use it well, being quite exhausted from the last events.

"Ok, Flogir....lay still now, I´m going to lift your leg, yes it will hurt quite a bit, but I must make sure the leg heals the right way!"

She gently grabbed his leg and put her hands around the ankle.....focussing she silently muttered the words of healing, while she slowly massaged his leg;

"Ahhh....slut eder, vävnader, slut eder och förbli helade i ett stycke"

The flesh and bone slowly moved under her hands and she realised her skills were intact....Flogir´s leg would soon be quite ok. She panted.....the strain of keeping the magic flow was taking it´s tribute out of her, but she stayed on.....focussing hard

With a smile and a sigh of relief she let go of the now completely healed leg. As always it was most satisfying to be able to make human tissue to assemble and regain its normal shape

Finally she gave Flogir some green leaves..

Cerpin

Cerpin acted as if he was trying to dodge, but still let the spell hit. Immediately realizing that it was a paralyzation spell, he dispelled it with a spell of his own - he had to be able to move to touch Mannimarco with the glove.

He summoned a fireball, but instead of releasing it, he let it hover above the palm of his hand. As he stood there, he suddenly realized the presence of the parasite. It made him smile.

All the worse for you Mannimarco, when you find yourself in this body.

QUOTE

Rann

"I didn't," he answered, "It's just something I was born with."

They reached the old man, who was standing by a fountain. Rann was tempted to use the fountain to wash his wounds, but he didn't want to contaminate it too badly. Instead, he just held out a bloody hand towards the telepath.

"Nice work out there," he greeted.

Mannimarco.

Cerpin smiled after being hit. Yet, it made Mannimarco only more amused.
,,So, you managed to dispell my curse. Do you think that makes you powerful? There is more than meets the eye to some things." He gloated, casting a casual glance at the fireball.
,,Now, surrender your life to me!" Again he cast a curse, this one intended to drain the man's life and grant it to the King of Worms.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint had collected his pile of belongings and finished most of his repairs. Now, he was having a meal with Odrik and trying to catch as much rest as he could. Who knew when the next attack would be.
,,Ya know, we aren't going to last much longer if we don't get a long break. Think we should fill up the breach now?" He mumbled between chewing a loaf of moldy bread. The Bruman siegemaster nodded.
,,Yea, that would be good. You might want to take it up with the commander."

Seeing as that felt like a good idea, Flint got up, swallowed the last of his bread and then marched over towards the breach. He'd last seen Flogir around there and he hoped the man had gotten through in one piece.

OCC: Ian's moving into position, since vampires are undead, shouldn't a drain life have little affect on one (storywise)?

Ian

The Narza'Tai were holding their own, but their strength would begin to wane shortly. Ian found Cerpin and Mannimarco in his periphery. Out of Mannimarco's view, he made his way toward the two combatants were, leaving a trail of disected limbs and gore behind him.

Dan, with Rann and Amrita

As Dan refreshed himself at a fountain he was approached by two mildly familiar figures. After a few moments of properly looking at them, Dan remembered them. They were the two warriors which fought the alien beast which fought for the enemy as a champion of sorts. Dan smiled at the sight of the brave pair, knowing that it took skill to defeat an opponent such as the alien. Dan barely managed to do so together with three other companions, while these two managed with half the number. The male, a slim Dunmer, extended his hand with a greeting, congratulating Dan for the fine work he had done at the breach.

"It would have been in vain, were it not for the defeat of the enemy champion at your hands. He is a cunning one however. He has been defeated twice thus far, but I am afraid that he will not be so easy to defeat the third time. That creature seems to have no weak spot! How can one slay such a fiend? Nevertheless, your feats have granted us time, precious time to renew our defences in preparation for the next attack. My blade hungers for the flesh of our enemies, yet let us hope that the next attack is at least a day away, if not two." Dan said telepathically to the pair, after scrubbing his hand clean of blood with a piece of cloth he wrapped around his fist.

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 5 2007, 02:04 PM

OCC: I can't help but enjoy the situation, the heroes drive off the Plys'Iea but overlook the fact the alien is still inside their territory with them...... and a lot of defensless civilians.

Plys'Iea

Carefully, he approached the tent camp, sensing all of the men and women walking, talking, and breathing within. The hunter stowed his staff, this task would be better suited for his bare hands. In a matter of minutes, he snuffed out five lives wityhout giving away his presence.

Theatrically, he mutilated the bodies after they were dead. Seeing their kin dead in such a state tends to demoralize these creatures. A few of the bodies looked like off-duty military officers, he made sure he left their faces in good enough condition to be identifiable to their fellows.
With this piece of internal sabotage finbished, the alien skulked away before he could be detected.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 5 2007, 10:05 PM

OOC: Well, we could debate about what is actually being drained in a drain life spell. I personally think it's some kind of soul essence. But whatever, we'll make Ian resistant to it. I'm also going ahead and have Ceprin get hit. The point was for him to get beat up anyway.

Mannimarco:

The Necromancer cackled as he felt Cerpin's life flow into his body.
,,Yes, surrender it, surrender your life!"

Posted by: Dantrag Nov 8 2007, 07:58 AM

Rann

Rann was a bit surprised that the man in front of them replied telepathically, but he soon made the realization that he was a mute.

"I don't think they'll hold off for a day," he answered, "And my sister and I have a monster to finish off - maybe you'd like to join us?"

Rann wanted to obtain a weapon of better quality before he faced the alien again, but in their current situation, he wasn't sure if that was even possible.

Cerpin

Cerpin allowed Mannimarco to drain some of his life energy, but he cut the necromancer's spell short with one of his own. He hurled his fireball towards the King of Worms and at the same placed a spell of blindness on his opponent. His hope was that the necromancer wouldn't even see the fireball coming.

Cerpin spotted a soul gem in Mannimarco's hand, and knowing what was contained within, he glanced over at Ian, hoping to make eye contact.

Posted by: Agent Griff Nov 8 2007, 10:43 AM

Dan, with Rann and Amrita

"It would be an honour to slay that fiend once and for all. My manners have been rather poor as of late, such is the effect of war on a man. Let me introduce myself. My name is Dan, though I have sometimes gone by the name of Blade-Tongue, and as you can see I have no tongue. I speak with my mind and my blade alone, for words are ultimately useless. What might be your name, master Dunmer? And yours, milady?" Dan asked as he looked at the two standing in front of him. He then looked over to the sky. Night was falling and a blood red sunset was close.

All the better for spilling blood

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 8 2007, 02:43 PM

OCC: Plys'Iea is near the center of Green Emporer Way, I'm going to have Ian take the soul gem, alright?

Ian

As the vampire approached, he returned Cerpin's glance and vaulted the remaining distance to land at Mannimarco's back. Before Cerpin or Mannimarco could react, Ian swung his wrist blade, cleaving through flesh and crystal.

The King of Worm's fingers parted, revealing the damage done to the gem......

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 8 2007, 09:50 PM

Mannimarco.

When Cerpin broke his spell, the King of Worms was surprised. Surprise turned to irritation with the blinding. But the Necromancer had not been caught unaware. He had seen the fireball being prepared and knew what was going to happen. So he brought up one hand with a haze of dispelling Magicka while gripping the soulstone containing Kirana with the other.
,,Fool! One step closer and this person's soul shall be forfeit! Would you dare to cause the final death of such a noble GYAGH!" He screamed when a sudden wristblade cut through his fingers and cleaved into the gem. The orb began to fall to the ground, while Mannimarco flung himself into the other direction, an instinctive reaction to get away from what caused the pain in his mutilated hand. If he had lifted his blindness, perhaps he would have seen it coming. But as it was, he had been caught completely unaware. Now he lifted the blindness and saw his hated foe, wristblades still setting the air ablaze.

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 9 2007, 02:14 PM

OCC: Ian's refering to the rumor that Morgiah, Barenziah's daughter, Queen of Summerset Isle, enlisted Mannimarco to attain the throne in return for her "first" [child].

Ian

The vampire closed his eyes for a heartbeat, for that was all it took. Kirana's soothing presence flooded his mind, filling the void she had left behind. Ian's eyes flew open, a look of complete satisfaction on his face.

Thanks for picking me up; that gem was losing its apeal. Kirana's voice rang in his head.
We can talk later, Kirana, a certain someone we all loathe has to die. He replied.

"Now, Maggot King, you don't have any leverage. All you have is an army of undead and the same lies you've failed to impress the soldiers with." The vampire said boldy, raising his blades to prepare for attack or defense. Ian mocked the necromancer. "There isn't a royal daughter here to make a pact with you; how is your child by the way?"

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 9 2007, 07:10 PM

Mannimarco.

The Necromancer glared, not saying a word. In secret, he was beginning to gather all of his power. He realized he had sorely underestimated his opponents. Well, no more. He would destroy them for sure, even though it would cost him everything he had gained. So be it, he could recover his power and return someday.
,,You can believe whatever you want, but the truth to our current standing should be obvious." He spat venomously. Even as he said those words, something strange happened.

As one, the birds fell out of the sky, robbed of their unlife. So did the many insects, so did the regular zombies. They all fell where they stood, without a clue as to what had caused their demise. Only the few remaining undead heroes could withstand the vile influence that sapped their strenght. But even they were forced to the ground in their struggle to maintain their current 'life'. Their power flowed back to their master, who focussed it into the matrix of a staggeringly powerful curse.
,,Everything in this city........Shall die!"

OOC: Ya know, I suggest you kill him quick. We could make the curse backfire when he gets wacked, make it knock his soul way out of the plane of Nirn.

Posted by: Dantrag Nov 9 2007, 08:29 PM

Cerpin

Cerpin was weakened from the drain life spell, and he was already starting to feel the effects of the nasty parasite that Mannimarco had placed inside of him. It made his gut twist, his breaths labored, and his reactions slow. It took some effort to keep from falling over, but Cerpin somehow managed to force his body to walk forward. It was more of a stagger than a walk, but he still covered the short distance between himself and the King of Worms.

There was no way they could possibly kill him, with all of that energy flowing in his veins, so Cerpin decided to relieve him of it. Cerpin gripped Mannimarco's arm firmly, and activated the magic of his glove. In a split second, Cerpin found himself filled to the brim with the power that the necromancer had absorbed into the body he now occupied. He looked down at Mannimarco, whose new body was still gripping his old body's arm.

"Now what exactly does that parasitic spell to to a person, I wonder?" he asked Mannimarco. There was an intense pain in his hand from Ian's wristblades, but it was nothing compared to the weakness and fatigue that Mannimarco felt now.

OOC: if it's too much, I'll edit, but I kind of want to get things moving again.

Rann

"I'm Rann, and this is my half-sister Amrita," he answered.

"Now where do we start looking?" he asked, referring of course, to the Plys'Iea.

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 10 2007, 05:12 AM

Ian

Ian allowed a measure of tension release when Cerpin successfully swapped Mannimarco bodies. "Your power has deserted you Mannimarco, and now you have nothing to cling to." The vampire said coldly. "I doubt the Deadra Princess Meridia will be an enjoyable mistress, but none of her kin will be more overjoyed to have you in their court, King of Maggots."

OCC: Should Cerpin just blast Mannimarco into Oblivion with all that power he siphoned?

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Nov 10 2007, 09:28 AM

Amrita

Amrita nodded to Dan. "We might not look like we're related, but trust us," she replied with a grin. "We think me found out a way to weaken that beast, though I'm afraid that after our last attack it knows that we know so to speak..." she paused before continuing, "The beast possesses these odd appendages that flare out from its back. I noticed them twitching and swaying when I blinded it. Just based on how quickly it recovered from my blinding spell, these appendages must help it see. Severely damaging them will obviously disorient and possibly weaken it. Now all we gotta do is find it..."

Flogir

Flogir flexed and bent his heal leg and grinned. It felt brand new! With a renewed vigor, Flogir began to make his way back to the breach when suddenly his legs gave out from underneath him. A wave of exhaustion and weakness flooded over him. Obviously the lack of sleep and the energy put into healing his leg had taken a toll on him.

"Damn me! Now is not the time for this!" Flogir cursed softly as he tried to get back to his feet shakily.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 10 2007, 10:36 AM

Mannimarco.

Mannimarco failed to respond. He was struggling to find power in his new form, any kind. But, he now began to realize that he never had the advantage in the first place. All the weakening he'd put on Cerpin, it had backfired in a dramatic way.

One of the undead heroes looked his way.
,,Protect me." The King of Worms hissed. The hero slowly shook its head.
,,You forsake me in a single moment of weakness?"

Flint Ironwood.

Flint arrived just at that moment when Flogir collapsed.
,,Oh, crap! Flogir. You alright? Man, am I glad to see you. For a moment, I'd feared you died in that battle." He asked worried and extend a hand to help him back onto his feet.
,,Look, I really want to make sure you're alright but there are more important things to do. I want to fill up the breach again before we get another attack, and this time we fill it with rocks, not exploding barrels." He added.
,,By the way, did you notice? All the undead just got knocked out somehow without any of us lifting a finger."

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Nov 10 2007, 07:02 PM

Flogir

Flogir thanked Flint for his help. "It's merely exhaustion, Flint, I'll be fine after some rest."

Flogir scanned beyond the walls and noticed that Flint was correct, all the undead went back to just being dead. Flogir grinned. "Looks like Ian and his companion were successful in their mission, now things become a bit less complicated. We only have one enemy to deal with now."

His attention returned back to Flint. "Well if you say you want to fill up that breach, go ahead. I won't stop you."

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 10 2007, 08:27 PM

OCC: Perhaps, I'm a little melodramatic, but it shouldn't be too-over-the-top. Don't forget the dead people in the military camp, they have yet to be discovered.... devilsmile.gif

Morrowind Soldiers

Many of the soldiers stared in wonder as hundreds of undead birds fell to the ground. The sight of the hidious abominations suddenly disposed of filled them with relief. The news of the end of the necromancer threat spread quickly, from those soldiers near Flint and Commander Flogir.

Without orders, several soldiers dispersed to tell their fellows, the relief clouding their judgment for the moment. As a group of three ran between the ruins, one tripped over a piece of masonry in his haste. When he got back to his feet the soldier noticed a great many things strewn around him.

"What in Oblivion!?" The other two halted and looked..... Their boosted morale disentegrated instantly. For there were over thirty mutilated corpses around them. All were in pieces, shattered ribs jutted from their chests, limbs bent in unnatural directs, savage bite marks were also present.
One of the soldiers was a veteran from the initail battle between the Silhoutte and the Morrowind Army. He knew exactly what had massacred all of these civilians, that nightmare thing allied with the Silhoutte. The soldier took a step back, the images of the guards upon the wall being thrown to thier deaths and the monster ripping their throats out; coupled with these massacred civilians banished any hope he or his companions had felt moments ago.

"Run....." He gasped hoarsely, taking a tunring step. "Run, run, run!" His fellow soldiers broke out of their horrified stupers and needn't any further urging. The trio ran, scrampled mostly, as they seem to have lost their footwork, back to the gates yelling hoarsely at those still gathered there....

Ian

As Mannimarco tried and failed to get his heroes to assits him, the Narza'Tai approached. Those armed with crossbows shot the heroes until they were in pieces, maintaining their impassive personas. Now the only creatures in the Temple District that were alive were Ian, Cerpin, the Narza'Tai, and Mannimarco. All of the former were arrayed around the latter, all ready to kill him where he lay.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 11 2007, 09:42 AM

Mannimarco

,,Well? What are you waiting for?" Mannimarco spat at his executioners.
,,Know one thing. I'll be back. I'll return, no matter how often you banish me. For I, AM IMMORTAL!"

OOC: Mannimarco has just gotten himself on my list of people to soultrap in Oblivion. He's got too much control over death.

Flint:

Flint gave a curt nod and walked to the breach where he rounded up a few who were willing to help him carry rocks. Not because they enjoyed this task after the draining battle, but because they were unwilling to go through that nightmare again.

,,This shouldn't take long." The old Breton spoke when three soldiers scurried within earshot.
,,Run! Run!" They shouted. Flint cast an annoyed frown which he pushed away. This was war, not a place to get cranky.
,,Though Flogir could use his rest. Guess I'll get involved." He reasoned and walked up to meet them quickly.

,,Alright, calm down!" He shouted, grabbing one of the Dunmer by the arm.
,,What's going on? Why are you so panicked? Come on, answer me and get a hold of yourself! We're in a war here, we can't afford to lose our minds!"

Posted by: Agent Griff Nov 11 2007, 03:03 PM

Dan, with Amrita and Rann

"Well, if we are to slay this wretched creature, then we must somehow find it. Knowing its behaviour however, I think it shall find us, not the other way around. When it does however, we must somehow sever those appendages on its back. Thus left in a weakened state, the beast would have two options: fight and die or run for its life." Dan said as he looked firmly at the two brothers.

Several screams could be heard however. From the raspy voices, a few Dunmer warriors were shouting heartily. What Dan was hearing was not a shout of joy however, but of utter fear and terror. That could only mean one thing, the beast was near.

"I suggest we lose no time. Let the hunt begin!" Dan said telepathically as he unsheathed his blade and ran off in the dirrection of the screams.

Time to finish the fight, once and for all.

Morrowind Soldiers-

The soldier struggled to free himself. "You think we're safe? You think this is still a war? You fools!"

His companions didn't stop for him, they ran past the men sealing the breach and into Talos Plaza.
"We're all trapped here, stuck with that thing! Oh God, I don't want to die here!"

The soldier clumsily drew his sword. "Yo- you can't keep me here, I.. Nothing can keep me in this godforsaken pit!"
He let loose a cry of rage and desperation, and swung his blade like an rabid animal.

Plys'Iea-

Even though he was too far away to see the results of his work, the hunter could hear the screaming and crazed yells.
On the roof of a derelict stucture, he rose to his full hieght.

Raising his head to aim at the heavens, the alien released a terrifying roar of bloodlust.
The call echoed throughout the city, and across Lake Rumare.

Beyond the walls of Green Emporer Way, Tseaci, goblins, orcs, and ogres were roused into a new level of primal aggression.
The Silhoutte only needed to release them and they would throw themselves at the enemy lines until the enemy was eradicated.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 11 2007, 07:05 PM

Flint Ironwood.

Flint was shaken off easily. He hadn't expected an attack though, so he left himself completely exposed. The sword smacked against his midrif, forcing the air out of his lungs, cutting the black outer fabric, creating a shallow crack in the glass and finally making the Breton lose any resemblance of a defence. The soldier was out of control and raised his sword for the deadblow.
,,I must escape!" He hollered and with white knuckles from the effort with which he gripped his blade he stabbed down.

Flint thought it would have been the end of him but to his amazement, the Dunmer jerked to the left and missed him completely. He let out a gurgle and collapsed on the ground. Dead.

,,It was about time I came to take a look at how the situation has progressed up here." A familiar voice hissed arrogantly. Flint watched dumbfounded as Green-Root calmly recocked the crossbow he'd borrowed from the Narza'Tai. The more familiar spear sat on his back.
,,Tsk, even your own army tries to kill you. You'd better be careful, friend." The Argonian mocked. Flint frowned as he glanced at the bolt sticking out of the Dunmer's back. It hadn't been a clean shot, but the poison had finished what the not instantly fatal wound could not.
,,Did you just save my life? I can't believe it." He grumbled.

Green-Root shrugged.
,,Think what you will. But I believe you have more pressing matters to worry about than me. Hear that outside? I'd say they're getting ready for another assault." He hissed, then grinned a toothbaring smirk.
,,We'd better prepare, don't you think?"

Flint noted the word 'we', but chose not to answer. Instead he ran back to the breach and redoubled his efforts at rebuilding, adding some Telekinesis into the mix wherever possible. He'd been hoping to save his reserves, but now he thought otherwise.

In the meantime, Green-Root had turned and watched the Plys'Iea standing on top of a ruined building.
,,That's one persistent customer."

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 11 2007, 09:56 PM

Ian-

The vampire stepped toward Mannimarco. "We shall be waiting."
Ian rammed a single blade just below the sternum, and used all of his magicka into burning the necromancer alive.

Karn-

It was dusk now, the sky was a bloody scarlet. Karn wished the sky appeared like that all the time, but he dismissed the useless thought.

He and many of his followers watched the events taking place at the breach. "Keep the Silhoutte's forces away from the breach while they work. Only engage in melee if absolutely necessary."

Three groups broke off without a word, some armed with longbows while others had shortblades and daggers.

The archers tool positions on the battlements and the dervishes remained invisible and arrayed themselves before the breach.
None of the soldiers working on the hole took notice of the sient assassins.

Karn didn't turn to speak those around him. "Prepare some extra space in the sewers, we may need it in a matter of hours."
And then the Sensei was alone on the roof. He watched the men and women below, and let out a weary sigh.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 13 2007, 10:14 PM

Mannimarco

Mannimarco howled in agony, but no sound came from his boiling lungs.
,,You vampire, I will get you one day!" He thought as his charred remains crumbled under the searing flames and turned to ash.

A lone bird landed on the branch of a dead tree, skipping its head back and forth nervously. Then, it began to sing. Life was set on reconquering the wasteland the Necromancer had left behind.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint and the Brumans worked with the energy of fear, with the pumping of adrenaline in their veins. Soon, the breach was filled with a loose pile of rubble.

Flint panted and wiped the sweat off his brow as he surveyed the crude structure. The loose bricks would mean the barricade could be removed by the opposing force, though he doubted said force had the patience to do that while under constant fire from the archers. They would try to storm across the pile. The Breton cast a grim eye.
,,Let them. Let them try and twist their ankles on the loose rubble."

Green-Root, at the Breach (Yes, he's back!)

Root gazed at the Plys'Iea while he twirled his spear mindlessly in a figure eight to loosen his muscles.
,,Looks vaguely Argonian, but it clearly isn't." He murmured and sniffed the winds.
,,Doesn't smell like anything I know either. Doesn't feel like it is from Tamriel or even Nirn." He kept his thoughts to himself and glanced over his shoulder at Flint and the former breach.
,,They've been paying with their blood and sweat for this city that is not their home. I sure hope this will be over soon. The siege must be broken, before they all loose hope and our only option is to flee."

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 14 2007, 02:00 PM

Ian

As the ashes of Mannimarco's remaons scattered, Ian flicked his blade clean of the blood and other contaminants.

"Let's return to Green Emporer Way, they need every able person there for defense." The vampire said, thankful that one obstacle was out of the way for now.

"Are the others alright?". Kirana asked as the Narza'Tai formed up to leave.
"We shall see in a few minutes," Ian replied.

Posted by: Dantrag Nov 15 2007, 03:53 AM

Cerpin

Cerpin began to follow the others, but not before pausing to spit on the small pile of ash that once was Mannimarco.

We both wanted immortality, necromancer, but for very different reasons. You wanted to live forever becausee you feared death. I want immortality because I love ending pathetic lives like yours.

After they walked in silence for some time, Cerpin finally spoke, "Kirana, my offer still stands. I can provide you with a body if you so choose."

Rann

Rann followed Dan, not taking the time to see if Amrita was following. Dan had a bit of a head start, but Rann soon closed the distance so that he was running alongside the telepath. He spotted the Plys'Iea standing tall atop a building.

You face him outright, he thought, knowing that Dan could hear, I'll be sneaking around nearby.

With that, Rann took the next alleyway out of the beast's sight, and stopped for a moment to plan his next course of action.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Nov 15 2007, 07:26 AM

Amrita

Amrita decided to tag along, seeing as there was nothing better to do. This beast was a threat to everyone's lives so the sooner they got rid of it, the better it would be. Plus, if the situation grew to be too costly, she'd simply use the mute as a decoy and get Rann and herself out of there.

As Rann broke away from Dan, Amrita decided to head the opposite way, hoping that a three point attack would work nicely. She knew the beast would be able to locate them due to appendages, but the sooner they were taken out, the better.

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 15 2007, 02:10 PM

OCC: I don't intend for the Plys'Iea to die just yet, at least not until the final battle. Since Cerpin has Mannimarco's old body, should that alarm those who've seen Mannimarco before?

Plys'Iea

Rather than remain where he was, the hunter leapt from one roof to the other. He was not surprise when the taxed roofing crumbled beneath his weight. However, the floor beneath it didn't give to his wieght, a fact he'd been counting on.

While the alien's size and wieght was similar to an ogre, he was much less clumsy than such brutes. His footfalls were reduced to dull thuds, had one not heard the roof give in the first place, they'd be unaware he was in this building now.
No more open battles, now they must play by my terms. The hunter thought as he picked his almost silent way through the second floor of the office building.

Kirana and Ian

The vampire glanced at Cerpin, and one could have expected Kirana's voice to come from Ian's mouth. "I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but my choice still stands as well...."
Ian put in, "If Kirana wanted a body, she'd want her old one, and that was burned on a pyre about a week ago when she died."

"Being inside a vampire I know well is hundreds of times better than being trapped in that cursed soulgem." She said as the party passed through the gates into Green Emporer Way. Many of the soldiers were tense, but gave them stiff, but grateful nods.
In spite of the dire army outside, they were thankful for the dustruction of Mannimarco. The Narza'Tai silently left them, gliding off to Devines-knew-where. The vampire angled to go to the breach in the wall not too far away, not expecting Cerpin to follow or go his own seprate way for now.

Dan

While Dan was running with Rann close behind them on the streets, the alien creature was jumping from rooftop to rooftop. After a vault however, the roof of the building the creature landed on crumbled, making the beast land inside. The creature was trapped inside, and it was as good a time as any other to corner and slay it.

Yet a cornered beast is more dangerous than a beast on open ground, as are most men.

While Dan thought about what to do, he could hear the thoughts of Rann, suggesting a plan of sorts. The Dunmer trailed off, telling Dan to face the creature outright while he and his sister tried to surprise it. The training Dan had received in telepathy also included limited mind-reading, but only if the one who was thinking was expressly transmitting something to Dan like cursing him or, like in this case, proposing a plan. He could read someone's mind and predict their actions. Besides the limited mind-reading, Dan also knew how to communicate by way of mind, as he had clearly shown time and time again.

"I'll give you enough time to circle around. Let us hope I can coax it out of this building and into the open." Dan said telepathically as he knocked down the door of the building with his sword.

Everything was dark inside. What candles or torches had been lit in the past were now extinguished. The residents of the building had fled long ago, probably when the siege began. As Dan entered he could spot Rann's sister, Amrita, running in an other direction, presumably to surround the beast. With small steps, Dan entered the building.

It's time to finish this ye beast. There are no distractions now, just the hunter and the hunted.

Plys'Iea

The alien stopped, feeling the old, yet familiar pressure of telepathy. He remembered the sensation well, when he'd encountered psionists during the war this pressure was always present, telltale. Without pausing to think, the hunter spread his arms along the walls of the room he was in.

As long as he did not strain the structure too much like he'd done by jumping onto the roof, the wall should support his wieght. In a matter of seconds, the alien reached the ceiling, his neck arced back so he could see everything on the floor.
While not a telepath himself, the hunter knew powerful thoughts and emotions could be picked up by any psychic. Often times the latter could prove distracting for any psionist in question. To stalk the hunter is most unwise, especially when one does not understand the hunter.....

He focused, pushing the thought to the surface of his mind so the telepath could hear. All was quiet in the house.... except for three sets of footfalls.

Cerpin

Cerpin nodded, not understanding how one could be content with such a...helpless existence. It was worse than no existence at all. He shrugged, both in response to Kirana and to his own inner musings. It was her existence, not his after all.

"Just know that if you ever change your mind, you can find me."

He didn't know where his altruism came from, but he assumed that it was out of the enormous respect he had for both Ian and Kirana. If they had met under different circumstances, he could imagine them being his enemies; yellow-eyed body snatchers weren't always the favorites of honorable folks like Ian and Kirana. But even if they were enemies, Cerpin knew that his respect for the pair would be just the same if not stronger.

Rann

Rann climbed a drain pipe and began running at a low crouch along the rooftops, trying to get closer to the large building that the Plys'Iea was perched upon. As he neared it though, the beast began hopping roofs of his own. It was coming towards him, so Rann immediately hid behind the chimney.

Rann heard a loud noise, and peeked around his chimney to see that the roof of the building next to him had collapsed. Rann pulled out his bow, but suddenly realized how useless it was with no arrows left to fire. He slung the weapon back over his shoulder as he thought to plan his next action.

He decided to hang back for now; wait until he heard sounds of battle and come into the fight when he found it most opportune.

Ian and Kirana

The vampire nodded to Cerpin as he walked toward the breach. "I will" Kirana replied, sincerely.

As they made their way to the breach, Kirana said. "I know you haven't told Issac, Satyana, or Rann that I'm not in Aetherius or Oblivion."
Ian didn't reply, knowing Kirana had more to say. "It'll be best if they remain ignorant, the truth won't help them in anyway, the fewer people that know, the better."

"Very well," He answered, spotting Issac, Satyana, Green-Root, and Flint near the crudely sealed breach. "Issac and Satyana appear well; I hope they stay together, they make such a sweet couple."
"That they do. I don't see how they could fall apart, they've proven to be nigh-inseparable."

"Flint!" Ian called as he approached from a distance to the old Breton. When he got closer, the vampire said. "Mannimarco poses no threat for now; I'm sure the Narza'Tai are capable of hunting down his followers."
Ian noticed the multitude of corpses littered around them, he cocked an eyebrow. "Anything interesting happen while I was gone?"

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 18 2007, 08:07 PM

Flint Ironwood.

Flint looked up as Ian spoke to him. They were standing on top of the filled breach. The breton cast a wry grin and shrugged.
,,Interesting? Heh, well a lot of things happened here. First off, Green-Root has aparently found it needed to resurface." The grin faded as he mentioned the Argonian. If they weren't too busy with the war, he would have made sure the lizard was locked behind bars and remained there.
,,Other than that, we filled up the breach finally, and all the zombies just keeled over. That wouldn't be because the Head Necromancer is gone, would it?"

He gave a thumb's up.
,,Well, good work all. Now that's one worry less. Now let's make sure we get rid of the Silhouette as well." He said with fake enthusiasm and levelled his gaze back on the massive army that opposed them. So far, they'd been lucky that there had been no attack, yet he could see that it wouldn't last long. The mob was so pumped up, it would attack on its own soon, even without orders. He didn't see how they could possibly last long.

He closed his eyes for a moment and grimaced.
,,We've lost too much. Mannimarco was a threat, yes, but he also kept the Sil occupied. Now we no longer have that luxury. And we lost too much power. Telina, Serene, Brianna and Rahvin, Astratus, the Bruman Commander, so many others whose face I don't even recall. And even Flogir is out now, though he keeps up the courage by claiming otherwise. Dammit!"

Green-Root.

Green-Root mimicked Flint's grimace, though he didn't know it. He'd gotten to the same conclusion on his own.
,,The chance that we'll live is small. But even if we die here, the Narza'Tai will live. They'll protect Tamriel, strike down all threats. Eventually....Eventually." He thought. He then turned to the breach and made his way to the frontlines.
,,If I am to die, I won't go out by myself. I'll take some of you monsters with me." With a silent roar of power, his spear shifted to its Daedric form.
,,Come on and attack, if you dare. It will cost you dearly....Silhouette. By the time this ends, you'll cry." He spat.

OOC: Just creating some dramatic tension. So, when are we going to perform the final fight?

Posted by: Dantrag Nov 19 2007, 07:34 AM

OOC: Since I forgot that Rahvin and Brianna were actually with Cerpin and Ian before they went off to kill Mannimarco, minque and I have to play catch up with them. I also have Aerona....

Rahvin

When Ian, Cerpin, and the small contingent of Narza'Tai entered the Temple District, Brianna moved as if to follow them, but Rahvin held her back, and the others didn't seem to notice as they made their way towards their objective.

"We shouldn't be so selfish," he explained, "Trying to get married while our friends and family fight around us. We should go back and help out at the breach."

As far as I'm concerned, we're married already. I don't need a ceremony to tell me that.

Rahvin took her hand as they walked back towards the main battle...

Aerona

Aerona was still sitting outside the cellar door that contained the transforming Eurod. She was sure that he wasn't getting out, but since Satyana, Issac, and the others had left her, she didn't have much else to do but 'stand guard.'

Then she spotted Brianna and Rahvin out of the corner of her eye. "Rahvin! Brianna!" she called out, standing up and moving quickly to join them.

Karn

The assassins at the breach retreated back into the city, those around Karn dispersed, leaving the sensei to himself. The dunmer dropped down to the street and approached the others gathering around the breach. Karn wore different armor now, leather with glass reinforcement.

His chain-whip was attached to his right guantlet, coiled up the length of his arm. He stopped beside Green-Root, looking over Talos Plaza. "I do believe that the poison you and your foster group planted should be taking affect anytime now."
Before the Argonian could reply, Karn muttered, "Not that it will quite slice their number in half."

Issac

The Altmer looked up from where he and Satyan were resting. Seeing Ian return lifted some of the tension from his shoulders; then he spotted Karn...... An idea struck him, he glanced at Satyana, resting her eyes for a moment beside him.

Without a second thought, Issac rose and strode to the sensei's side. "I need to talk with you," he said. The Dunmer studied him for a moment before nodding. "If you'll all excuse us," Karn said to the others walking away with Issac.

Satyana

"Issac! What are you doing? Please stay with me, I´m totally worn out"

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 21 2007, 12:04 AM

Issac

He turned when Satyana called his name, I won't be gone for more than a minute. Issac answered, "I just need to talk to Karn, it won't take but a moment; trust me." He wasn't covering anything major up, just making an arrangement with Karn and then come back; they didn't even have to get out of sight.

Ian and Kirana

The vampire didn't turn around immediately, he did, however, raise an eyebrow. Ian had a feeling he knew what Issac was planning, it was smart given the circumstances. He wants Karn and the Narza'Tai to protect the remaining civilians and Satyana?

Yes, everyone knows by now that the chances of our victory are slimmer than ever before. Karn isn't quite the same murderer, a different flavor than before, he'll protect an investment in the future as much as we'll all protect civilization. Ian replied, deciding to step in.

He turned and said to Satyana. "Let Issac do this, he won't take long." The vampire reassured her, after the battle with Mannimarco he was particularly weary, giving his voice an appropriately fatherly tone.

The Silhouette.

He could feel the rage and hunger for blood that had taken hold of his army. Now was the time, he knew. This time, no oposition could break his troop's morale. They would all hurl themselves at the walls till they died to the last man and beast. But it wouldn't actually come so far. The walls would fall long before then.
,,Attack! Leave no man, woman or child alive!" He ordered and slowly, the dark mass that was his army went into motion. The goblins, the bandits and the general trash, all rushed at the walls. The only appearance of coordination was in his elite Tsaeci troops, who formed a thick wall before their master and advanced more slowly, ready to throw themselves into the front lines after the defenders had exhausted themselves against the first wave.

Small gaps appeared in the line of bandits as some fell to the nefarious poison the Narza'Tai had planted wherever they could. Yet the gaps were small, inconsequential even, and they filled up before anyone could notice.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint cursed under his breath.
,,Here we go. Better hope Flogir or Altair comes in and takes charge. We're going to need the morale boost a leader can bring." He thought before turning around.
,,Alright! All non-combatants, clear out! Archers, open fire as soon as they come within range! Don't aim, draw and shoot. It's impossible to miss. Melee, hold the walls! Trebuchets, fire!" He turned to the walls himself and raised Aleatoire.
,,I hate this war." He thought as the first boulder soared overhead.

Green-Root.

Green-Root nodded to Karn and levelled his spear as he joined the ranks of soldiers.
,,With your permission, I wish to fight on the front lines....master."

Flogir

Flogir regained his feet, fighting off the fatigue and weakness. He heard the battle cries of the enemy and their thunderous approach. He knew that the men needed him. Withdrawing Iceshard, Flogir returned to his former position nearby the breach, a grim yet determined look on his face.

He clapped Flint on the back as he stared out onto the oncoming horde. "Best of luck to you Flint. Where ever we end up meeting again, lets hope that it is somewhere peaceful and quiet," he said to his friend before he turned to the spearmen.

"I want you men to hold your ground, anything that comes over that breach gets a face full of steel, understood!?"

Dan, in the office building

After waiting for a few minutes in which he quietly listened and watched the room he was in, Dan thought about his next action. In front of him was a flight of stairs which led to the second level of the building, the one where the beast had landed. Before Dan could move however, he heard the thoughts of the alien, which unnerved Dan. In the pitch-black darkness of the room, all of Dan's senses, except seeing, were greatly augmented. In the state of tension he was now, he could even hear a pin falling on the floor. Slowly, he started advancing towards the stairs. The sounds of battle however could be heard in the distance. It seemed the forces of the Silhouette were attacking yet again. This time, Dan couldn't help in the main battle, not until this monster was dealt with. Thinking about his comrades which were trying to surround the beast, Dan climbed the stairs to the second floor of the building. There, he found yet another large room however this room had a large hole in the ceiling, from where the beast had fallen.

Looking around carefully, Dan couldn't see anything. Even though some light was coming from the hole in the ceiling, the room was still very dark, since the sun was hidden behind dark clouds.

How you have fallen, beast, if you are forced to hide from a bent old man. Nevertheless, you have felt my blade before, your flesh shall feel it again.

Despite Dan's show of confidence, he was secretly very worried that his allies wouldn't reach him in time, if the beast were to ambush him. In single combat, the beast was much faster than Dan could ever hope to be. Not knowing what to do, Dan braced himself, and prepared for the worse.

Karn

"Granted," He replied to Green-Root. The Dunmer unsheathed his blade, ready to take up the fight should the spearmen falter. Where there was one, five stood, copies and the original. "I do not think this is a particularly winnable battle."

Plys'Iea

As the telepath appeared and broadcasted a message to him, the alien watched impassively. He could comprehend the insulting manner the message was conveyed, but not the words themselves, so different was his psyche from the human's.

With surprising agility, his hands slipped off the cieling, and he launched himself like an armored missile at the floor. The alien struck the ground and rolled into an upright position, his staff in his hand. There were no threats exchanged, no more attempts at communication, this was the final stage of the hunt.
The staff whoosed down in a vertical, two-handed strike.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 28 2007, 04:19 PM

Green-Root, at the (filled-up with rocks) breach.

Green-Root sniffed the scent of tension that hung heavily in the air.
,,Then we'll simply have to make it winnable." He quipped. He gazed at the jagged form of his spear for a moment and admired the flames that always appeared to travel across the shaft and blade. It made his weapon look downright terrifying, even though the flames were just an illusion.
,,One way or another, there will be a lot of dead enemies by the end of the day." He crouched slightly and curled his fingers around the shaft.

He could hear the battlecries of the Silhouette's army now, they'd gotten close enough. He glanced to the left. There was Flogir, and Flint. The archers already pulled back their strings, ready to release as soon as the order was given.
,,One way or another, we'll make this winnable, one way or another."

Flint Ironwood.

Flint nodded to Flogir.
,,Wherever we meet. Indeed, it had better be peaceful and quiet because this is getting on my nerves. I'll buy you a drink then. For now, good luck." He spoke and marched over to the archers. Like them, his expertise lay in long-range engagements. He would leave the gritty close-up fighting to Flogir who was far better at it than he was.

He swept his eyes over the approaching ranks. They seemed to be close enough now.
,,Alright, here we go. ARCHERS.........FIRE!!!" He shouted. arrows shot out, blackening the sky for a moment, then they came down. Flint compacted the air in front of him into a dense cloud of needles and fired them as well. He was aiming to disable and kill now, not to knock some unlucky sods off their feet for a second. The carnage had begun.

Amrita

Amrita had found a storm drain on her side of the building, so she decided to shimmy up it. She peeked over the top of the building first, just to make sure that the beast wouldn't see her. She found no sign of the beast so she climbed to the top.

Once there, she noticed the huge hole in the roof. Obviously, the creature had entered the building. Just then she heard a thud beneath her. Something large had landed on the floor. Without hesitation, Amrita lept into the hole, noticing that Rann was coming from the other side of the roof as well. She landed in the room and found herself behind the creature.

She unleashed a stream of fire, aiming for the creature's back and exposed appendages.

Plys'Iea

He recoiled, his sensitive appendages picking up the heat forming on the witch's hands before the torent was fully unleashed. On instinct he threw himself to the side, his leftmost appendage was singed by the flames. The pain was excrutiating, but agony was not an unfamiliar companion to any of the Plys'Iea.

The alien roared in outrage, his spines suddenly fell, clinging to his back. In many milenia, evolution had blessed his kind with some control over their external organs. They displayed mood as well as their practical task of extra-sensory, but just as they could be extended to increase their sensitivity, they could also be made less sensitive.
Spinning so that his back was not exposed, he swung his staff in a counter-atteck.

Rann

Rann, not being the most patient assassin, saw that Amrita had already engaged and couldn't help but join in. He stood atop the mostly-collapsed roof, peering over the edge to see that the alien was preparing to strike his sister with a forceful swing of his staff. Thinking quickly, he jumped down into the large room, landing atop the Plys'Iea. He lifted the enchanted dagger that Amrita gave him, preparing to deliver a few quick blows to the spines before he was inevitably thrown off.

Dan, fighting the Plys' Iea

In the blink of an eye, the beast was ambushed by Amrita, who burned its back using a spell. In obvious pain, the beast jumped to the side, brandishing its staff as it did. Right as it hit the ground however, Rann pounced on the creature from above, raising his dagger and preparing to stab the creature a few times.

Since Dan didn't want to hurt Rann by attacking the beast, he stood his ground for the moment. holding Balmung at the ready. After a few moments in which his immediate urge to slay the beast defeated his urge not to hurt Rann, Dan charged the alien and swung his sword at its leg, away from Dan. With a loud cling, the blade jumped back from the armoured shell which covered the creature. Still, a dent in its armour had been made.

Stepping back, Dan prepared for another attack.

Odrik, at the trebuchets.

Odrik paced back and forth, his eyes dashing between the working crew and the enemy horde.
,,Careful with those ropes! Come on, move those rocks quicker, you damn monkeys!" He barked. He tried to count the opposing force but gave up. There were simply too many of them.
,,Alright fellas, we'll load buckshot. That should smack some holes in them! Now stop yapping and get to work!"

Green-Root, at the walls.

The first line of Goblins had arrived. A particularly ugly specimen brandishing a dagger picked Green-Root as its victim. Green-Root didn't wait however and put it on his spear before it could get close.
,,Goblins, smelly little critters." He hissed and pushed the corpse off with a foot. A second Goblin swung a club at him and to his horror, the Argonian realized he wasn't going to dodge the blow, not while he still had that corpse weighing him down.

A shield came in and blocked it. Green-Root nodded to the Bruman by way of thanks and promptly stabbed a bandit in the eye that had tried to hack his ally to pieces. The two turned their faces back to the enemy and fought on with grim determination.

Flint Ironwood, on top of the walls.

Flint had been cursing under his breath for quite a while. He was running out of magicka too quick to last, and the archers were running low on arrows as well.
,,First guy to run out of arrows runs down and gets some noncombatants to start a supply-line! We need to keep firing continuously!" He ordered. A Dunmer promptly turned and dashed for the ladder.
,,Good lad."

The Breton looked at his staff. So far, his latest weapon had been less than reliable, so he didn't feel much for using it again. But there was little choice.
,,Ok, no singing, no pink clouds or any other funny stuff. Just do something usefull. Got that?" He snapped. The staff vibrated. Was that a yes or a no?
,,Oh well, let's find out."

Flint pointed his staff at the center of the enemy formation that was swarming the soldiers at the breach and gave a quick prayer before unleashing Aleatoire. A blinding flash erupted from the staff's tip. The wave of Goblins and bandits staggered, then they all began to jump around and dance. Flint sighed and smacked his staff against the cobblestones.
,,I said 'no funny stuff'. Do you have a hearing problem or something?" He snarled. When he looked again, he saw that the second line had gotten impatient and begun to cut down the dancing first line. Said first line promptly turned and fought back against the second.

Flint scratched the back of his head.
,,Ok, I take that back. Bandits fighting bandits. Now that's quite effective."

Jonathan Constantine

He had seen it. He'd seen the beast mutilate those soldiers and civilians. He felt their pain and anguish as he set idly by and watched the creature destroy their corpses. Maybe it was the booze, or maybe it was that feint remembering of a promise long past in a town called Chorrol that caused the anger to well up in a person that had deserted all hopes of life. Maybe.

The sweat slowly trickled down the drunk mans head as he cautiously stepped through the contorted bodies of the dead. He grieved, but did not show it as to show it constituted weakness. But then again, so did the booze. His hand however would not leave the aged bottle Cyrodillic Whiskey, or the rusted blade that loosely laid at his side. A hideous moan erupted from a body, casually impaled along a oaken stake. The words were incomprehensible to the drunk, but he knew what pain and suffering they represented.

His drunken stupor was interrupted by a monstrous howl. A grueling sound that he had only recently become familiar with during the siege of the once glorious Imperial City. The sound, it captivated him. His feet began to make the journey towards it. Towards the possible retribution of his past sins. The walk began to increase, his feet numbly dodging loose debris that now inhabited the once majestic imperial causeways. Soon his walk became a run as the stupefying effects of the alcohol became replaced by coursing adrenaline. He heard heard his enemy, he smelt him, and his sword would taste the flesh of the man-killer.

Jonathan smirked.

OCC: From this point forward Tenek is my character, my friend donated him to me because he wanted his character to have more screen-time (for lack of a better phrase).
Rann doesn't have to break his back or anything, he should just lose his grip due to how painful being smashed through a thin (1,1 at best) support pillar.

Tenek, off having his own private adventure

Not far from the fighting, Tenek was scavenging for loot amidst the dead and undead. ".... shiny point from a silver longsword.... ah, gold nugget..." The Bosmer vampire muttered as searched, alternately placing what he found in the bag over his shoulder or throwing it away.

While the Temple District was no longer under Mannimarco's dominion, no one else seemed interested in this piece of territory. As long as no one disturbed him, Tenek was fine with that. Finally, he straightened. "That should do it, worth a few hundred septims I reckon."
Tenek started walking toward the gates of Talos Plaza, unaware that the Silhouette had absolute control over it.

Plys'Iea

When another opponent entered the fray, the alien decided that this all had to end immediately. He slammed backward into a thin wooden pillar to dislodge Rann. The pillar snapped like a twig under the force of the strike.

Issac and Karn

"Speak quickly, neither of us have the time for round-about conversations." Karn said when the two of them were a suitable distance. The sensei, leaned against a large piece of masonry.

"Very well, I want you and the Narza'Tai to take the civilians under your protection." Issac explained, the sounds of battle and death were clearly disernable from here.
The Narza'Tai leader raised arced an eyebrow, "I doubt faint-hearted citizens will appreciate our hospitality in the sewers."

"Perhaps, but they'll be safer down there then up here. Pretty soon, there won't any part of the Imperial City left safe." The Altmer replied.
"I'm also sure that your lover will not sit in the sewers if you're up here." Karn said, stepping away from the rubble.

"I'll be down there with her." This brought silence between the two mer; the sensei studied Issac for nearly an eternity.

"Oh, somewhere where we'd be safe" she answered, gently touching the young vampire's hand "But I'd like to help you my dear, you look as if you were about to faint, I...I could get you some nourishment, you know, I...I've kind of done it before, it's really no big deal for me"

Satyana

She sighed, Issac was stubborn as always, but that was one of the reasons she loved him. She turned to Cerpin, the man did look as if he was in intense pain...she looked sternly at him

"Can I help you?" she asked politely, " I'm a pretty good healer and mage" she continued silently

Jonathan Constantine

Closer to the abomination Jonathan traveled. The building in which a battle of epic proportions was playing out shock and flash strobing lights into the night sky. Ever slowly the ruffian closed the distance between himself and the building believing to know the limitations of the creature.

Upon reaching a watermelon sized whole in the wall Jonathan took full view of the monstrosity that he expected to face. At first surprise, and then horror filled his face as Jonathan realized Rann was wrestling with the Plys'Iea.

He made himself present, and drew his longsword. Unknowingly however, he still held a bottle of hard liquor in his off hand.

Rann

As he was hard at work trying to find an opening in the beast's thick hide, Rann saw a familiar face out of the corner of his eye.

"Jonathan?" he asked aloud, just as he found himself smashed into a pillar. Rann was flung from the monster's back, landing on the floor only to have pieces of the pillar fall on him immediately after.

He moved the debris from himself, and stood quickly, not wanting to be vulnerable for long. He now stood facing the Plys'Iea, with his dagger in hand and sword at his side.

"Nice to have you back," he said to Jonathan, who was standing across the room.

Was that a f***ing bottle in his hand?

Aerona

Aerona quickly pulled her hand away and stopped walking when she realized where the conversation was going.

"Why can't anyone just drop it?"

Cerpin

"Yes you may," he answered Satyana with a smile, holding out his hand towards her. The smile wasn't aimed at Satyana though, Cerpin smiled because of how ironic it all was. Here he was, the man that tried to kill the girl's mother to stop her from even being born, and she wanted to heal his hand.

He wondered if Brianna would recognize him. Or Rahvin.

Jonathan was surprised that Rann even recognized him, as his beard and hair were unkept and had the look of any common drunk. However he was even more surprised at the monstrousity that stood before him. "I'm not entirely sure I'm as equally pleased.."

He stood ready for the creature to make the first move.

Brianna

What's wrong with her? Why can't she just accept kindness or an honest offer for help...

"Ok" Brianna answered dryly, "Sorry I even mentioned it, but by all means if you like company you can join us, or not...it's entirely up to you...although I have no idea where we are heading, I just follow Rahvin"

And that I intend to continue doing, whatever happens

Satyana

Satyana examined his hand, not an extremely complicated thing to heal, but there was something strange about him....she couldn't really grasp it, but she felt a bit uneasy...threatened in a peculiar way.

She held his hand and focussed on it til it started to heal....

I hope this won't take so long, I'd rather stay away from this man, there's something weird about him

Plys'Iea

The alien glanced at each of his opponents; then he suddenly straightened. There was a faint sound, the house was straining to support itself. A plan entered his mind, if he could lure his foes deeper into the house, then coax the structure the slight distance needed for it to come crashing down......

The Plys'Iea grabbed an overturned chair and threw it at Jonathan, retreating as he did so. One eye scanned for another support column, but that movement would be difficult for any of the enemy to notice.

Aerona

Satisfied with Brianna's verbal retreat, Aerona fell back into step beside them, but she was now paying very little attention to the world around her, so lost was she in her own thoughts.

The three finally reached the Green Emperor Way, where they immediately searched for loved ones. After Rahvin asked some guards a few questions, they found Satyana, Ian, and a strange yellow-eyed fellow sitting around while Karn and Issac conversed privately nearby.

Rahvin

After finding their companions, Rahvin stared into Cerpin's yellow eyes for a few long seconds, remembering a time when he had been separated from his own body. He didn't voice his fears though, instead choosing to keep silent until necessary.

Cerpin

Satyana made short work of his injured hand, and Cerpin flexed it a few times while looking over her handiwork.

"You do good work," he complimented. The words barely left his mouth before they were joined by Aerona, Brianna, and Rahvin.

He locked stares with Rahvin for a few moments, but he couldn't be sure if Rahvin suspected anything or not. He prayed silently for someone to break the tension.

Rann

There had been a few unbearably tense moments in which the combatants stood, each waiting for the other to move. When the beast finally did, it was a completely unexpected one.

He's running? he asked himself.

Instead of following it, Rann ran back outside, wanting to keep it from any kind of long-term retreat. Once outside, Rann climbed back up to the roof he had previously been stationed on, and kept watch, wanting to be able to track the Plys'Iea if it tried to leave the building where they had been fighting.

OOC: I've been trying to avoid the phrase 'Rann ran' for this entire RP. I gave up. Also, we really need to plan out this fight. Since I don't know where it's heading, I really don't know what to do.

Amrita

The adrenaline of the battle was catching up with her. Seeing the creature fleeing brought a sense of expectancy in her and she began to pursue the enemy, hurling a lightning bolt as she went.

"Won't be long now friends until this creature's head is ours!" she snickered as she followed the beast deeper into the building. She was completely oblivious to Rann returning to the rooftops.

Posted by: Agent Griff Dec 4 2007, 08:49 AM

Dan

After a few tense moments in which the five combatants, himself included, did not move at all, Dan though what they could do to slay the beast. They obviously had a great numerical advantage, yet Dan didn't know how reliable the drunken man really was. A meat-shield at most, judging by the look of him, yet Dan had learned long ago that things were never what they seemed at a glance. After the beast threw a chair at the drunk and ran, Dan could notice Rann doing the same, yet in the opposite direction. Judging by the beast's sudden retreat, it was most probably a ploy to separate them and kill them one by one. It seemed to be working, since Amrita had already run off into the darkness to follow the beast.

"The alien is leading us into a trap! We need a plan!" Dan shouted telepathically so even Rann could hear him from wherever he could have gone. "This building is supported by these frail pillars. If we could destroy them all, we could bring the building down upon the creature. If we die as well, at least we shall know that the beast is finally slain. What say you?"

Perhaps you could do a good and honest deed for once in your life Dan.

Jonathan Cosntantine

As the chair flew towards Jonathan, he become apparent to the fact that he was still drunk. And as such his reaction speeds were not what they were during the beginnings of this marvelous little adventure on which he happened to make a comeback.

However thinking was all he could do as the hard wooden chair slammed into Jonathan torso, exploding the chair and sending it's target crashing out of the building. Jonathan lay there, stunned, bruised and quite disoriented and it took him a long moment to prop himself against an overturned horse cart.

"Son of a umbrella seller.." He muttered as his wounds were becoming clearer. A piece of the chair had managed to pierce his thigh, and protruded through the backside of the leg. With a loud, and heavy grunt Jonathan tore the shard from his thigh, biting his cheeks to fight down a yelp. And then, conjuring up a bit of magicka that Jonathan had learned through his ordeals with Altec (his deranged brother), he slowing mended the gaping wound, reconstructing the destroyed flesh. Within moments Jonathan could stand again, and after a bit of limping he was walking as if it had never happened.

He scanned the area and noticed that the Plys'Iea had retreated, and Rann was in what appeared to be obvious pursuit. His sword recovered he shouted after Rann, "Theres no way your getting all the glory for this one!" and went on the follow the beast.

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 4 2007, 10:55 PM

OCC: The ironic thing is, even though most of his actions against the heroes are certainly damnable, the Plys'Iea is more noble than Mannimarco or Veric, in some ways. This RP ought to have a musical accompaniment......

Plys'Iea

The lightning strike collided with his raised bracer, there was a thunderclap as the electricity rebounded from the surface of the alien alloy. He growled challengingly at the Altmer witch as she pursued. "I have been patient for many years, but now I am reaching the last of my reserves!"

Anyone could have misinterpreted the sentence for, "I shall feast on your entrails!." Or some similar oath from something they considered nothing but a savage monster. The hunter swung his staff in a seemingly theatrical display, apparently hitting another support beam by accident.

Ian

He watched silently as Cerpin and Rahvin stared at each other, then, after the tension of the exchange was apparent, he decided to step in. "Rahvin, do you know where Rann is, I haven't seen him since I left for the Temple District."

The vampire gave a nod, hoping to pass a signal that the current matter had to be dropped until later. Things are getting more complicated as this goes on, you all seemed like such a close-knit group when I first crossed paths with you all.
Ian replied, Good things and people never last the test of time and conflict of trust forever. It won't be long until nearly everyone considers the others to be corrupted.....

Posted by: Dantrag Dec 6 2007, 12:22 AM

Rahvin

"It's been some time since I've seen him as well," Rahvin answered, shifting his attention from Cerpin to Ian, "I'm sure he's found some trouble to get into."

As nonchalant as he seemed about it, he did worry about his son. Rann always seemed to get himself into tough situations with his explosive personality, and Rahvin hated not always being there to keep him in check. All he could do was pray that he would trust common sense over heated emotion every once in a while.

Rann

From his vantage point, Rann couldn't see much. He could tell that their foe was spinning its staff, but he had no idea that it had even hit a support beam, much less that it was a calculated move.

He bent his neck in many different directions, trying to get a better view, but the hole in the roof of the building just wasn't the right size. Cursing his luck, he jumped to an adjacent rooftop, hoping for a better point of view.

Dan

As the beast ran away, Amrita gave chase, hurling a lightning bolt at the fleeing creature. The bolt reached its mark, but to little avail. While it ran though, the beast hit another support pillar with its staff, weakening the building even more. Dan stopped and thought about what this could mean. The obvious conclusion would have been that the beast was doing their job for them, digging its own grave. At a glance however, things were deceiving.

The beast may have understood us, it may be trying to bring the building down on us, not itself. No! We must hurry, else we find ourselves burried under rubble. We must give chase and slay this beast before it can destroy any other pillar. Let us hunt then!

"I think the beast is trying to collapse the building and spare itself of the effort of personally killing us. We must make haste!" Dan said telepathically to his three comrades. Amrita was already far ahead into the darkness, chasing the beast, while Rann was on the rooftops, preparing to enter combat again. The drunk had been thrown through a hole in the wall when the chair thrown by the beast hit him and made him stagger.

"What the bloody hell was that!?" Jonathan said, perplexed as the words filled his mind. "Ahh, there is a telepath in the group. I don't think its Rann though."

Regardless of his thoughts or perceptions, Jonathan figured that it wasn't the beast. Or at least he hoped as much. However he darted into the building to confront the creature, with the hopeful aid of the other three combatants. Jonathan was nothing of legend, but he held at least one powerful trick up his sleeve and intended to use it if needed.

When the telepath began communicating with his companions, the hunter decided this had to end..... immediately. Without warning, he smashed another support beam behind him, not taking his eyes off Amrita's.

"This place shall become your tomb!" All around them, cracks began to snake down the walls, and wood buckled under the strain.

Jonathan Constantine

It finally became clear what the creature was doing. The walls and pillars supporting the dilapidated structure began cry loud pops and cracks under it's own weight. It was to late to get out of the way so Jonathan threw up the most powerful shield spell that he could muster.

Being that he was no wizard, every effort was exerted into making sure that shield stayed up.

Amrita cursed as she finally realized what the creature was doing. Hurling one last fireball, she followed the newcomer's example and threw up a potent shield spell over herself. She also flung a paralysis spell at the creature. If the building did collapse, she was going to make sure the creature wouldn't be able to protect itself from the falling debris.

Flint Ironwood.

With the frontlines of the enemy fighting amongst themselves, Flint found the opportunity to run to the point right above Flogir where he stopped and looked down.
,,Yo, Flogir! How are you doing down there?!" He shouted. Despite the fact that he hadn't engaged in the frantic melee himself, Flint was already breathing hard.
,,Man, I'm too old for this. Heck, Flogir isn't the youngest either. I hope we'll manage to hold out."
,,If you're tired, just take a rest! You've been at it non-stop for way too long! You're not the youngest anymore, you know." He added.

Green-Root, at the breach.

Green-Root, leaned on his spear and forced himself to take long and slow breaths.
,,I hope those brainwashed bandits hold out for a while longer. I could use the lull in the fighting."

Plys'Iea

As the paralyzing bolt crossed the threshold, a piece of debris fell in its path, obscuring the witch from the hunter's sight and taking the hit. The fireball, however connected with his breastplate, the magicka lost much of its coherance on impact.

His chestplate heated slightly, and his face was only warmed a few degrees. The alien did not waste time, it crouched and braced against the lower part of the nearest wall. If the wall collapsed, then at least he might be able to push through later, in the best case, it would be largely intact and he'd have some room to manuever.
He used his armored arms to wrap around his chest, digging his head into their protection. The alien shut his eyes and calmed itself, resigning himself to whatever fate awaited him.

Karn and Ian

The Narza'Tai Sensei finally nodded his head slightly. "We shall see; I doubt our allies will be able to hold this area, it would be in the best interests of everyone present to be ready for the inevitable." He said the latter part loud enough for the others to hear.
Without offering any other explanation, the Dunmer turned and walked away. Issac looked back to the group, catching Ian's gaze. The vampire nodded, "This part of Green Emporer Way may be safe for now, but it would be naive to believe that will continue."

"I recognize that man with the yellow eyes, he's bad news I'm afraid or at least he makes me feel awkward" she whispered.

Satyana

"You're welcome" she said shortly, then turning aside and spotted her mother, Rahvin and the vampire-girl

He added, "Amrita called me a hypocrite because I'm so sick and tired of Rann's attitude that I refused to apologize for thinking Altair is crooked, like most other politicians aren't, but Rann insists Altair is the herald of a new era." Issac rolled his eyes, and let out a weary sigh.

Aerona

"Why couldn't you apologize?" she asked Issac, caring little that his lips may have been a bit too busy to answer at the moment, "You," she said, looking around the circle to make sure that the word encompassed more than one person, "Who are supposed to be his friends, went behind his back and plotted against another person whom he considers a friend. I'm sure that each and every one of you would react the same way."

She realized that she was probably giving herself away to be the one that leaked the secret to Rann, but at this point she didn't care. She'd tell if anyone asked, and be damn proud of it.

Rahvin

When Brianna whispered to him about the yellow-eyed man, he kept silent about his suspicions. The shapeshifter seemed to be helping right now, so there were no problems. As soon as Cerpin made one wrong move, though, Rahvin would kill him.

A tense conversation about his son brought him back from his thoughts, and Rahvin suddenly realized that in their time apart, Rann had been making bitter enemies and loyal friends at the same time. He said nothing throughout the conversation, because he honestly had no idea what had happened to start this argument.

Jonathan

The building now really began to come down, and large chunks of stone fell from the upper stories and smashed with murderous force into the ground. Jonathan struggled to keep his shield up, his magicka drained from him for each precious second that the building collapsed and he stood against it. When at last he thought his strength was through, the largest of the building seem demolished and only the most local was still crumbling.

Jonathan climbed up out of the ruble that filled an oval around his now dissipated magicka shield and stood, sword in hand looking for his compatriots and the beast.

Ian

The vampire crossed his arms and studied Aerona thoughtfully. "There's no reason to apologize, Rann had no place in this before someone brought him into this."

"Devotion is any admirable trait, but if you go about it the wrong way then you do more harm than help to those you care about." As if magically, Ian's words seemed laced with wisdom and experience. If one had spoken to Kirana before she died, they would have sworn part of her was speaking through Ian at that moment.

Aerona

"Don't try to make me feel guilty. I'll be the first to admit that I told him what you all were doing! Because, despite what you may believe, he does have a place in the plans of his friends and family!"

"And what if I said that Flogir was a shapeshifter, and I had Karn's word to prove it?" she pressed, "You'd be in my place right now. Or maybe even Rann's."

Ian's words (were they really?) about devotion had struck a bit of a chord in her, but not in the way Kirana had intended. Instead of dissuading her and stealing her resolve, the comment had made her pause and think about her motives in defending Rann so strongly. The young dunmer in question had, of course, saved her from Patholos's sadistic urges, but that was only half the reason.

"Besides," she kept on, pointing up to the walls, "Look at Altair right now, trying to fit into his new position and doing a fine job at it. That mer's doing more for our cause than any of us right now."

She suddenly looked around quickly, reminded by her own speech that there were more important things at hand. Spotting a few wounded that she thought she could help, she decided to excuse herself.

"I plan to follow his example," she ended the argument with an impudent curtsy before making her way towards the wall where most of the wounded laid.

Rann

The last thing Rann cared about at that moment was any petty squabble over his attitude. He watched in horror as the building collapsed on top of Dan, Jonathan, and even worse, his very sister. There was a white cloud of dust around the building that Rann's vision could never hope to penetrate, and he could do nothing but pray to any and every god that they would survive.

Rann climbed down from his rooftop perch as fast as he could, hoping to find no less than three survivors. The Plys'Iea was far from his mind as he ran towards the pile of debris that had once been a building. Arriving on the scene, he found Jonathan standing alone atop the rubble.

"Where are they? Did you see my sister?"

After Rann asked his final question, a dusty arm poked out from the debris. A faint muffled voice was heard.

"A little help? It's getting hard to breathe under this," Amrita said before breaking into a fit of coughing.

As Aerona left, Ian shook his head in a tired, exasperated fashion. "I kill the King of Worms and offer to talk to her about her problems with vampirism, Altair I have yet to see since we got here. Who gets their admiration and respect? The politician that has been skulking about while the rest of us are doing the fighting and dying......."

The vampire examined one one of his wristblades and muttered dryly. "I remember Astratus' words about the joint command that Altair wasn't supposed to be a military officer...... The frontlines seem like an odd place for an aristocratic politician with a grand new plan for the future, he could end up dead and never be able to come through with them...."

Jonathan Constantine

Jonathan coughed as he went to answer, "Sister? Satyana you mean?" He said slightly perplexed as the only of Rann's sibling Jonathan had met had been Satyana.

It was then an arm poked up amongst the rubble. "Well sister or not, theres someone under here" He removed the more manageable pieces around the trapped individual.

Issac

When Karn departed, he went back to Satyana's side. Issac nodded to both Rahvin and Brianna "Rann's become particularly spiteful of late, since we started doubting his hero's noble intentions. He can be a real honored user when he feels like it."

Satyana

"I'll be the first to apologize if that can make me on good terms with my brother again" she sighed, "But I wonder if it will help though" she continued, looking at Rahvin for support

Brianna

So well she knew Rahvin, she was certain he knew the yellow-eyed man but not revealing anything. So you are weary, my dear, you will kill him if he makes a wrong move, now what move might that be? I...I think I can guess though...

Brianna gave a faint smile and then turned to Satyana;

"I'm glad to see you girl and that you're well"

Dan

OOC: I suppose you're talking about my character's hand right?

Dan couldn't really remember what had happened. After warning the others of the creature's intentions, Dan tried to catch up with Amrita, who was already pursuing the beast, yet the building had already started collapsing by then. With all of his speed, Dan ran for the hole in the wall where the drunk man had stumbled after being hit by a chair hurled by the alien.

Whatever hapened afterwards, Dan couldn't remember. All he knew now was that he was bleeding and covered with white dust and small pieces of masonry. His shoulder was badly bruised and he felt a sharp pain in his head. He was also mostly covered by ruined masonry of various sizes. A particularly heavy slab of marble was resting on his right leg. When he tried to move it he felt great pain and immediately stopped. Because one of his hands wasn't as covered with rubble as the rest of his body was, he raised it sightly. As the white and bruised limb emmerged from the rubble, he could hear the familiar voice of the drunk man.

I really have to find out this man's name. If I make it, that is. I've survived stabbings, sword cuts, club hits to the head and my tongue being cut off after a severe beating. A collapsed building can't bring me down, surely. Have faith old man, you'll grow to be sixty yet.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 11 2007, 08:24 AM

OOC: it was actually Amrita's hand they were talking about, but there can always be more than one! biggrin.gif

Amrita

As Jonathan began moving around the loose pieces of masonry, one revealed the dusty head of Amrita. Her hair was speckled with the stuff and she coughed furiously as fresh air entered her lungs.

Finally clearing her throat she nodded to the stranger. "Thank you, but I think I can handle the rest of this myself now that I can see what I'm doing."

Gesturing her hands to the rubble surrounding her, Amrita launched a telekinetic spell that allowed her to climb through the rubble much easier. Once once, she began to furiously beat her clothes clean.

"So... you think we got that thing?" she asked casually with a grin. She didn't see that he paralysis spell has missed.

Jonathan

"Not sure" Jonathan said, stepping back from the telekinetic control rocks, "The few looks I got of that thing before the building collapsed proved that it was a bit tougher then anyone one of us individually.. I don't know, lets be on our guard anyhow."

He glanced around the building trying to find everyone, Rann, (now) Satyana, the wizard,.. "and that other peculiar man.. the telepath" The last person was by the hole that Jonathan was thrown through earlier covered in a fair amount of debris but appeared to be helping himself well.

"Need a hand, my good sir?"

Posted by: Agent Griff Dec 11 2007, 05:25 PM

Dan

"If you don't mind, yes, a hand would be very...welcome" Dan said telepathically from beneath the rubble.

Despite his headache and his bleeding and all the bruises he had acquired from the building almost collapsing on him, Dan had an advantage in that he could communicate as if he were perfectly well through his telepathy. Because of the pain, the message might have gotten out a little mixed up but other than that the tonality was perfect.

After being helped up and dusting himself, Dan realized that his leg was most probably broken, judging by the excruciating pain he felt when walking on it. If only he had a tongue, his cries of pain would have probably been heard from the top of the White Gold tower. Because he didn't, all that could be heard were a few groans and moans.

"What is your name, brave warrior?" Dan asked, wearily, as he looked around for a piece of wood to use as a crutch.

Posted by: jack cloudy Dec 12 2007, 10:56 PM

OOC: It's wednesday, so let's get started. Dan should find a healer quick though.

Silhouette.

The Silhouette felt satisfaaction as he watched the struggle from afar. While the defenders held their lines valiantly, they fell one after the other. And what was more important, they were growing tired and demoralized. Now was the time.

He made a broad sweeping gesture with his hand.
,,Now, all troops...ATTACK!" He ordered and like a large wave of gold, the Akaviri snakes began their charge, howling their battlecries. Before them, the bandits, the few remaining goblins and a troll or two pressed the attack harder out of fear for being cut down from behind by the bloodthirsty Akaviri.

Green-Root

Green-Root's breath came in ragged gasps as he plunged his spear into an Orsimer, nearly falling together with the green giant. He leaned on his spear and somehow managed to brace himself. He was wounded, in multiple places and the bloodloss was taking its toll. If his spear hadn't been so outrageously sharp, he would have died long before now at the hands of one lucky assailant who survived the first blow.

,,Get a healer and come back later. You're no good leaking like this." A Dunmer said somewhere to his right. The Argonian felt touched. He would have been able to expect such words from a Bruman or even an Imperial, but never from a Dunmer. His feelings of gratitude were shortlived though, as the soldier was taken down by five goblins ganging up on him. He threw himself at the group, swinging his spear wildly, cutting down three while the remaining two ran for safety. He tripped over the Dunmer's corpse and struck the ground. He knew he wasn't going to get up again. He barely felt the axe that cleaved his spine.
,,If I'd been sane, I would have run. But I'm not. I asked Karn the favour of fighting at the front because it would be my end. Heh, not a bad way to go...for a robber."

His consciousness was fading rapidly now. The last thing he felt was that someone bent down to take his spear. The same one who'd struck the deathblow with his axe. If he'd had the strenght for it, he would have laughed.

OOC: Ya know, maybe this is the moment where Altair signals the trumpets to blow the 'get your behinds to the breach on the double, ya lazy good for nothing rats of an army!' signal. Ya know, to further his 'I'm the leader, vote me for Emperor!' plan? Ya know, I use 'ya know' way too much now, ya know?

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 13 2007, 01:43 PM

Narza'Tai

As the lesser foes pressed the attack against the breach, serveral dozen Narza'Tai appeared from thin air on their flanks. Before the Akaviri could close the distance, the assassins slaughtered the bandits, goblins, and others while they were still running at the Morrowind Army.

The attack was over as soon as it had begun, only one assassin remained for a moment. He glanced at Flogir and Flint, he shook his head, this isn't worth it. Between the gesture and the wave of golden Akaviri, the assassin's point was clear, a retreat needed to be called or this would turn into a one-sided rout with them on the wrong side.....

Jonathan Constantine

Jonathan smiled and chuckled slightly before answering, "I am Jonathan Constantine, son of Algren Constantine. And I am no brave warrior." He motioned to the surrounding "heroes", "These are your brave warriors, I am but a cowardly drunk." His smile faded, his departure from the party plaguing him for the past months. "I had to though! Altec was mine, he was my target damn't! And I made him pay.. Oh yes did I did."

Jonathan sheathed his sword and placed his hands upon the broken parts of the leg. "Ybén hétén ówerpé fóen hëten ínenë, éndmí hëten rocenbé ndáen ácëmú gáínath nëwáth" A feint white light engulfed the warriors leg, mended the bones. Jonathan let the light fade and took a step back, unconsciously wiping his hands together. "I am also no priest, so you might want to see Satyana about the leg before making sure that creature is dead."

Posted by: jack cloudy Dec 15 2007, 08:06 PM

OOC: I hope you're not irritated, MM, but someone had to call the retreat and I prefer to let the official commander do it rather than some old bozo with a bow.

Flint Ironwood.

Flint looked at the rolling wave of glistening scales with a distinct feeling of dread. Up till now, they'd been fighting scum, an uncoördinated mob. And it had taken all their strenght to do it and come up on top against those numbers. But now, they were facing something else entirely. The battlecires were as varied as ever, but their was a deadly grace in the movements of both the individual and the pack as a whole. This was no mob, but a professional army.
,,Oh man, we are so screwed." He muttered and nocked an arrow.

,,Retreat!" Flint looked down. Flogir. He looked out over the walls and then nodded at the group of archers. While he was just an anonymous warrior to them, he had somehow become their unofficial leader. Inwardly, he allowed himself a wry grin.
,,It has to be the age. Cripes, I'm one of the oldest fellas on the battlefield here." He thought.
,,Alright, you heard the chief. Let's fall back. Carry everything you can, leave behind what you can't.

The archers slid down the ladders and dashed through the streets for the next wall. Flint was last to come. He lobbed a fireball over his shoulder at the stash of sacrificed equipment and then leapt clear across the street to the wall behind the Trebuchets. He dropped Aleatoire on the ground between his feet and got his quiver within easy reach. Odrik and his men were already packing their engines. The first one rolled through the gate when Flint landed.
,,Need help? There's not much time!" The Breton called down but the Bruman waved him off.
,,No need for it! We're experts at packing. Let us handle it, you go get yourself placed with that peashooter of yours." Odrik called back.

,,It's a bow, not a peashooter." Flint replied, laughing. Odrik was laughing as well.
,,Hah, bows are for wimps. A real man takes a man-sized stone and a launching implement the size of a house!"

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 15 2007, 10:24 PM

Flogir

The mass of enemies was becoming unbearable for the phalanx of spears. And Flogir could hear the battlecries of the Akaviri. At their current position, he knew they wouldn't last long. They needed a solid wall between them and the enemy.

"Fighting retreat!" Flogir issued. "Fall back to the next district!"

Posted by: Dantrag Dec 16 2007, 01:00 AM

Altair

Altair, from his vantage point atop the wall, could see that the Akaviri were preparing for their largest assault yet. Cursing underneath his breath, he motioned for another volley of arrows to be unleashed on the snake-men.

"First two lines, I want you off this wall! Report to Flogir for your orders!" he shouted after hearing Flogir's call for a retreat.

As the third and fourth lines became the first and second, Altair waved his hand and another volley shot down at their enemies. Over the next couple of minutes, Altair sent all of his forces except for the final line down to Flogir, waiting to make sure that the rest of the force could retreat safely before he pulled the final defense from the district.

Rann

Rann heaved a sigh of relief when both Dan and Amrita emerged from the heap of rubble, but after hearing the battle sounds become louder and louder, Rann started to look over his shoulder towards the Green Emperor Way every few seconds.

"I think something's happening over there," he remarked, "Now that we've taken care of that thing we can try to help out."

Aerona

Aerona made herself useful by trying her best to heal those injured at the breach. It was hard work, both because of the severe injuries and the strong, distracting scent of blood that permeated the air. There were quite a few injured spread out on the ground around her, and as she heard the call for a retreat, she prayed that these brave soldiers wouldn't be forgotten.

Just to ensure that such a tragedy did not occur, she spotted Flogir in the midst of battle and ran to him.

"Don't forget those injured over there!" she shouted to the nord over the din of battle. Barely had the words excaped her mouth before the massive army of snake-men hit the breach with all of their strength, making it painfully obvious that there wasn't much time before this district was overrun with the scaly swordsmen.

Rahvin

"It's time to go," he said matter-of-factly as he heard the sounds for retreat and saw the tcaesi begin to break through the wall.

Posted by: minque Dec 16 2007, 03:32 AM

Brianna

"Coming!" she answered, "I´ll just finish this" she made the last touch to heal a severe chest-wound on one of the injured soldiers

Satyana

"I can´t leave, there are too many who need my help" she muttered, continuing the healing

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 16 2007, 06:19 AM

Issac

"Satyana, this isn't the time." He said, watching as the Morrowind Army began their retreat. It wouldn't be long until this very place would be swarming with Akaviri, and there was no way Satyana could save all these soldiers.

There were at least seven soldiers other than the one Satyana was patching up now, Issac knew his lover wouldn't leave these people...... alive anyway. Issac began to unsheath his katana, but stopped as a Narza'Tai mage appeared.

Are they psychic, or are they just that intelligent to know when they are needed? The mage unsheathed a dagger, Issac could see the poison coating it. Methodically, the mage pricked the soldiers in the jugular artery, the poison entering their bloodstream quickly and effectively.
As soon as the point entered their necks, the soldiers began to calm, shut their eyes and relax their breathing. As Satyana finished with the one soldier, the mage approached the three of them. "Come," he said, reaching out both hands for them to grasp.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 16 2007, 10:53 AM

Flogir

Flogir head twitched momentarily to spot Aerona and as he dispatched a bandit that broke through, he picked up the Dunmer's words. Making a hand gesture that he heard and returned his attention back to the soldiers.

"All right lads, I want the fourth line to assist in removing the injured..." he then spotted what Issac and one of the assassins were doing to those that appeared to be beyond helping. He swallowed hard, knowing that such things were necessary under dire situations. "I also must insist that you give a quick passing to those who are beyond help. Who knows what those bastards will do to them otherwise," he forced out, gesturing to the oncoming mob.

Sinyaramen Fenasim, Cloud Ruler

The room was sparsely lit by a small lantern. On the table, the open scroll's writing was cast in an orange light. Beyond it, everything was swallowed up by the shadows. There was a man sitting at the table, hunched over the scroll so much, that he nearly cast his own shadow upon the writing.

The only door leading to the library opened, letting in a fresh sliver of light. The man at the table instantly looked up at the intrusion on his sanctuary.
,,What is it, Blade? You should know better than to interupt a wiser man's studies." He snapped. The Blade wasn't surprised at the angry response. Instead, he merely walked over and put down a plate on the scroll.
,,Your lunch, scholar." He said.

The scholar now realized his stomach was growling.
,,How long has it been? And where is my servant? Why would a Blade come and bring me food?" He asked, still in his snappy tone. The Blade shrugged and began his walk back to the door.
,,It has been 24 hours exactly since your last meal. And the servant isn't here because we have news for you." He stopped at the door.
,,We are preparing for war. All outsiders must leave Cloud Ruler. You have two days." The door closed.

Flint Ironwood, the next defensive line.

Flint saw the killing of the wounded. He grit his teeth but did not rush to intervene.
,,Gods know I'd probably kill them myself if I tried to jump them to safety. Dammit." He closed his eyes and counted to ten in an effort to calm down. If he wished to survive this war, he should keep his head cool.

Karn

The sewers were a mess of activity as the Narza'Tai moved to pack up. Karn stopped a mage as he crossed the threshold. "Take two teams and get Astratus out of his cell; he can't be left behind." There was no nod, no bow, the mage simply departed to fullfill her task.

The sensei looked around as his followers wrapped things up. I need to discuss with the Nord Commander where we need to retreat to, but it definitely won't be anywhere South or East..... Karn turned and walked back to the surface, aiming to locate Flogir in the retreat.

Flogir

Flogir felt a sense of pride in his men as their organized retreat was flowing nicely. The front lines were holding off the brunt of the attackers while the rest were retreating with order and speed.

Flogir stood relatively in the middle of both actions, hoping to orchestrate both endeavors at the same time. It was then that he noticed Karn striding into view. By the fact that the Dunmer started heading directly to him once eye contact was made, Flogir knew that the assassin wanted to speak with him.

"I don't really have time to talk to you, Karn," Flogir said coldly before Karn could open his mouth, "I'm sorta in the middle of a retreat."

Dan

Dan grit his teeth as he felt the bones in his leg returning to their original position. Any man would have screamed because of the pain, or at least whimpered, but not Dan. The fact that he didn't have a tongue to scream with helped. After the short process was over, Dan gave a nod to Constantine.

"My name is Dan and I give thanks, Jonathan son of Algren for you have my gratitude from now on. Hopefully, my leg will heal in time for me to help if the enemy tries to take the breach once more. My blade yearns to sing once more. Now, where is that priest you mentioned? I need to know when I can fight once more." Dan said telepathically, smiling as he did.

Karn

He ignored the cold tone and replied. "I'm curious, where exactly do you want to retreat to? The Imperial City is unlikely to be where this war will ultimately be decided."

QUOTE(The Metal Mallet @ Dec 16 2007, 04:53 AM) *

Aerona

Aerona's jaw dropped as she witnessed a Narza'Tai mage methodically laying to rest many of the injured. Even more amazing was Issac and Flogir's obvious approval. When Flogir stopped noticing that she was there, she realized that a half-starved vampire girl had no say in this battle unless someone wanted her to. As Karn approached, Aerona ran back towards the injured.

She arrived just as the fourth line did, and she assisted in helping to move the wounded. If anyone made a move towards an injured man, though, Aerona swore that she would stop it.

Rann

"We really should be going back," Rann commented. He was becoming uneasy, as the sounds of battle had gotten progressively louder since they'd been standing there.

Rahvin

Rahvin broke from the group to also assist fourth line in their task. He slung one injured dunmer over his shoulder and began following the rest of the army for retreat/

Dan

As Dan struggled to stay on his feet he noticed that Rann was getting more and more nervous as time passed. Despite he still felt an ammount of pain in his leg, he had bandaged his head to prevent any further bleeding and he almost felt no pain coming from his head. Grasping his crutch, he prepared to leave. Despite the near perfect silence around them, Dan could slightly hear the sounds of battle nearby. Steel clashing with steel, men screaming and blood being spilled, things Dan was all too used to. This time however, he had friends on his side. Friends who could hold their own just as well as he could, or even better. In the past, Dan would have to rely on only himself when working as a mercenary for either merchant caravans or the bandits attacking them.

"Judging by the sounds coming from all around us, it seems that our enemies haven't waited for us before charging the breach once more. We should return to our friends and help them with whatever they may deem useful, be it sword or spell." Dan said telepathically, trying to say what everyone was probably thinking.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 17 2007, 09:17 PM

OOC: I'm too lazy to checkup the setup of all the districts of the Imperial City, so I'm just winging this, the bridge is destroyed right? So that leaves the Northwest as the only "true" exit. Maybe we should just break down a wall in one of the others and flee through that when we need to?

Flogir

"We're retreating to the next Northern district. The walls are still in good condition there and hopefully we can reestablish a defense. If not, we're going to need to find a way out..." he trailed off as the thought dawned on him. He returned to focusing on the retreat.

Amrita

Amrita finished brushing the last speck of dust off her clothing. "Well, let's not keep them waiting them brother. We got enemies to kill."

Posted by: Channler Dec 18 2007, 06:07 PM

Jonathan Constantine

"I'm a lover, not a fighter.." Jonathan mumbled in response to the call to rejoin the battle. He began creeping towards the sounds of battle, and stealing a peek before rushing in.

Posted by: Dantrag Dec 18 2007, 06:08 PM

Rann

Rann led the way, being the first to walk back the way they came. When they got back to the Green Emperor Way, it was not the safe haven they had left. Soldiers ran to and fro, some carrying wounded, some carrying supplies, and some carrying nothing but messages. It was obvious that they were all preparing for retreat. The soldiers at the breach were performing well, but it was only a matter of time before the tsaeci started pouring into the district. Rann spotted Flogir and headed in his direction.

"We killed that thing," he reported, "Any orders for us?" he asked, wanting to know what the plan was and where he fit in.

Altair

Altair kept looking to Flogir for some sort of signal or message, but none came. It seemed that the nord had become engrossed in the troubles surrounding the breach that he'd forgotten about Altair's men at the wall. He decided to go speak with his co-commander in person.

"You," he said, pulling the leading archer from the rest of his men, "Are in command until I return. Don't you dare let these men down."

With a salute and an enthusiastic "Yes, Sir!" the soldier immediately took charge.

"Hold...hold...NOW!" he shouted, giving the signal to fire and watching as dozens of snake-men were mowed down.

Altair was satisfied with the soldier's commanding abilities and left the wall to speak with Flogir.

"Flogir!" he called, ignoring Rann's presence in light of the seriousness of the situation, "I don't have enough men at the wall to hold it for much longer. I've ordered all but two of my lines to aid in the retreat. If we want those two lines alive, we need to hurry and abandon this district."

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 18 2007, 07:04 PM

Karn

He glanced at Rann and Altair for a few moments then said. "Before the siege, the Narza'Tai made rafts, they should be of sufficient size to carry twenty men each as well as supplies. As for the others, some of my mages can teleport them to the safety of the Northern shore of Lake Rumare."

"What I'm more interest in is where we go after evacuating." He met Flogir's gaze. "These men are well-trained, but they will take time to move from location to location. If we come up with a destination later it will be too late and the army will have to move and fight all the way north or west."

Ian

The vampire approached the group; he heard the question of where to go after leaving the city. As Kirana didn't have to bother with mundane tasks assosiated with having a body, she was able to think faster than her vampire host. "Cloud Ruler Temple would be a good option, it's the most well-fortified structure in all of Cyrodiil."

"Agreed, if we can get there," Ian replied. "We could head north, Cloud Ruler Temple isn't far from Bruma. It also has only one entrance, and I don't think Akavir are very adept at climbing fifty feet of ladder required to scale the walls."
"The problem lies only in getting there before the Akaviri overtake us." The vampire glanced at the men gathered around.

Posted by: jack cloudy Dec 18 2007, 09:01 PM

Flint Ironwood.

Flint shot off his first arrow, only to see that he was still too far away to strike at the Akaviri.
,,Well, that's what you get when you're used to the good ole telekinetic barrage. Physical projectiles are just too gravitationally challenged." He muttered and jumped down the roof he was on. He was not going to just stand back and wait. The Breton figured there was still time for him to reach the first wall and fire a shot or two from there.

He ran past Flogir, who seemed to be in a heavy debate with a couple of people. Flint skidded to a halt and glanced over his shoulder.
,,Well, I'll be. It's the annoying duplicating guy." He thought as he turned and jogged over to Flogir. He now noticed other familiar faces as well. Altair, Rann, Ian, Amrita...his eyes rested on what appeared to be a filthy drunk for a while. He looked familiar, but Flint couldn't put his finger on it right now. He shrugged. It could wait.

He kept himself quiet and listened to the conversation first before formulating his opinion as well.
,,Ok, a temple near Skyrim? I don't know any temples that can withstand a siege, but I'll trust your judgement on this on. So basically, the problem lies in making sure the killerhappy snakes don't take us in the back before we get settled." He spoke and fell silent again.
,,How about...the more destructively inclined among us topple every single tree we can find in our wake. You said they have trouble climbing, what with no legs and their tail not being flexible enough for any really delicate stuff. They'd either have to get over the logs, or around them, either of which costs them time. while mister duplicate here gets his...well, duplicates, to run around and cause general distractions." He added after a second.
,,But well, that's my idea. I'll leave it up to you guys. I'm off to shoot a few of the scaly ones. See ya." He ran off again.

Sinyaramen Fenasim, Cloud Ruler.

Sin gazed at the pile of books he'd stacked on the table.
,,If I try to get away with that, those Blades will hack my head off and turn it into a cup. Lousy barbarians." He scoffed and took off his glasses. He mulled over his dilemma while cleaning the optical tools with his handkerchief.
,,Two days. I wonder how many books I could throw down the toilet in those two days? Sure they'd get awfully dirty and stinky, but no one ever bothers to check the pile of dung outside at the end of the tunnel." He mumbled, placed his glasses back on his nose and ran a finger across the topmost book.
,,Hmmh, the toilet exit is rather small, barely large enough to stick a hand through. This won't fit. I need something else, something quick....something disastrous." He began to grin.
,,What if a storm came out of nowhere, ripped away the roof with a convenient thunderbolt, then whisked away a few books? Heh, brilliant! I am a genius!" His grin turned sour.
,,Oh no, the rain would ruin the pages. Ah, blast it!"

Dan

Dan had been following the group in a rather painful manner. It was hard to keep up with the rest of his comrades who had suffered little to no wounds after the building had collapsed. Dan however gritted his teeth and went on, trying to follow. When they all eventually stopped, their group had reached Green Emperor Way. The once beautiful gardens were now teeming with activity, supplies being carried, barricades being erected, weapons being passed around, wounded being cared for. Dan could barely have recognized the old Imperial Gardens of Green Emperor Way for they had been turned into one great military encampment.

Close by, Dan could notice that Rann and his sister were arguing with a group of people, some of which Dan could slightly remember. One of them was the commander of the host, to whom Dan had gone when he enlisted in the army to protect the city. He could also recognize the old Breton mage who had aided him in his first fight with the alien beast. Warily, Dan approached the group which, in his eyes at least, appeared to be the senior officers of the army. He listened closely and watched as they tried to decide what their choices were. Some proposed evacuating the city and retreating North or West. Some advised against it. After a while of fierce arguing, the name Cloud Ruler Temple was proposed. It seemed that many of the leaders agreed. The Breton mage even proposed a method to hamper the progress of the enemy host.

In his sell-sword days, Dan had spent many a week in the wilderness near Cloud Ruler Temple, either protecting merchants or hunting them. He knew that the old fortress was as impregnable as could be yet he had doubts that it could support an army as big as the one stationed in the Imperial City. Trying to help in the argument, Dan lent his own voice to the already growing crowd of voices. His voice had the advantage that it could be heard in the heads of all the people arguing.

"My lords...my lords, if you are so kind as to listen to my own humble words. I have been near Cloud Ruler before. It is truly an impressive example of masonry, yet I doubt that it could feed an army the size of ours. If we could truly get our whole force to Cloud Ruler with little losses, then the enemy could starve us out before actually throwing themselves upon the walls. I would advise splitting our forces, my lords. We could station our lighter troops and skirmishers in and around Bruma. They could harass our foes as they make their way towards Cloud Ruler. That could also lend us more time to properly set up defences. Then, when the enemy realize that the skirmishers are only trying to delay them, they would surely come to Cloud Ruler. There, we will show them that we people of Tamriel don't wield words where swords speak truer." Dan said in a grand manner, trying to match his style of speech to the one he thought his so called 'lords' would use.

Plys'Iea, breaking out

The pile of rumble did not stir for half an hour, but suddenly a staff shot through the surface. The weapon retreated and then smashed outward again, shattering a large piece of masonry. Through the cloud of dust a large four-fingered hand grabbed another large piece of rubble.

The hunter hauled himself from the so-called "tomb," he let out a defiant shriek that echoed throughout the city. He favored a thin gash running along the back of his neck, a minor wound and annoyance. In the distance he could see the Morrowind Army hurrying about their retreat.
During the last half hour he'd rested to recover his strength from the earlier days of fighting. Now that he was free and believed to be dead, none of the enemy would be prepared for his reemergence. Silently, the hunter stalked off, aiming to flank the army to the north.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 19 2007, 11:11 PM

Flogir

Flogir stuck his hands out in front of him, warding off the bombardment of questions and theories. "One at a time people, I can't take a sudden rush like this," he said in an annoyed fashion.

"Altair," he bega, turning to his co-commander, "I'm moving our troops to the district north of us, we're going to be fighting the whole way back so in order to get the very last men through I'm going to need basically all your archers to ward off the enemy and get those men through the gates. I suggest you move those last two lines soon then."

"Rann, it's good to hear that beast will no longer hamper us. I want you and those with you to help with the retreat in whatever way possible. I intend to make a small stand there while we get the evacuation set up."

"Karn, I would've appreciated such information sooner, but I still believe we have enough time to work with this. Get those rafts to the district we're going to. I have a feeling we might need to tear down a wall to get to the lake, but we'll see once we get there."

He nodded to the mute. "You bring sound advice about Cloud Ruler. With some of our forces in Bruma, they'll have a hard time sacking the city. If we get lucky, we might be able to sandwich their army in the pass."

"I just have one last question though. How are we going to defeat the Silhouette itself? Nothing appears to hurt it. I have a feeling that even without the army, the Silhouette itself could very well destroy us..."

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 20 2007, 02:06 AM

OCC: Would Dan be able to notice Kirana's presence in Ian's mind?

Karn

"I'll leave finding out how to kill the Silhoutte to you all," the Dunmer muttered as he departed. From the steadily growing shadows, several Narza'Tai assassins appeared and flanked their leader.

Ian

He glanced at Karn as the dunmer left to marshal his followers. "While he hasn't said so yet, I'm sure Karn will have many Narza'Tai helping provide cover for us on our way to Cloud Ruler. Hit and run is more their area of expertise and preference."

The vampire didn't seem surprised that the newcomer had been able to speak directly to his mind. Having the constant mind-to-mind intimacy with Kirana made him used to the experience. The latter stirred slightly, "I wonder if this man can detect me......"
"I don't know, but I don't think it should be bothersome whether or not he can."

Posted by: Agent Griff Dec 20 2007, 12:08 PM

OOC: Dan can't read minds but he can feel the presence of other telepaths, if slightly.

Dan

After Dan gave his own oppinion, the commander, Flogir, started replying to everything that had just been said. He was obviously trying to find a solution. What interested Dan the most was what was said to his comrade Rann. Since he was one of the few who Dan knew, Dan considered him some kind of a friend, if not a leader. When the commander told Rann that he and those following him should assist in the retreat, Dan grasped the hilt of his sword, as if to prepare for what was to come. After bandying some more petty words with the other commanders, the commander seemed to appreciate Dan's advice. Afterwards however, the commander raised the problem of the enemy leader. To this question, none truly had an answer. A shady Dunmer left after a few moments of tense silence.

Hm, there's something odd about that fellow. I don't quite feel that he's to be trusted. And that other one, the one with a wolfish look about him who proposed that we head to Cloud Ruler, there's something not quite right about him either. Oh well, I guess that's what you get when you meddle in the affairs of lords.

"If there is nothing amiss I shall take my leave, lords. In any further duties I shall follow Lord Rann, for he has proved courageous beyond measure when faced with great perils. Farewell." Dan said with a slight bow as he took a few steps back and slowly went to Rann, struggling with his broken leg.

Rann was listening intently to the questions and words being thrown about by the men present in the group and he didn't seem really atentive when Dan slowly came behind him.

"What now?" Dan asked as he looked intently at the Dunmer.

Posted by: Dantrag Dec 20 2007, 04:24 PM

Altair

"As for the matter of the Silhouette," Altair said, acknowledging Dan with a nod instead of words, "I think there is something we should consider."

"As some of you may know, I used to serve Ocato (god rest his soul) as his chief advisor in the realm of magic. As such, I had access to a large part of the Imperial Library. Once, my assistant Voltar and I came across a tome that described a spell that I think could prove useful in ridding this continent of the Silhouette. If you have no objections, Flogir, I'd like to take a few hours leave to find the tome and perfect the spell. Afterwards, I'll need a few volunteers to go with me into enemy lines and fight against its leader. If I do that though, I will need someone to take my place on the wall."

Rann

"Let's go," he answered Dan vaguely, "I'm sure we'll find something to do."

Rann was discouraged by the fact that Dan was a telepath, since there was no chance that anyone missed the 'Lord Rann' comment, and he figured it would be some time before he lived that one down. He was slightly embarrassed by the comment, not only because he wasn't a Lord of any kind, but because it reminded him of what happened a few months ago, when the others wanted him to be some sort of leader. Now, just like then, he wanted nothing to do with responsibility.

After they'd walked a short distance away, Rann brought it up to Dan, "I'm no Lord, you know. Just 'Rann' is fine."

Posted by: Agent Griff Dec 20 2007, 05:13 PM

Dan

After leaving the group which resumed discussing other matters, both petty and great, Dan strived to follow Rann but his broken leg was making matters rather difficult. Hopefully, he could now find a proper healer that could use a more suitable healing spell that could mend his broken bones fully. Afterwards, he could be free to resume fighting. By the way things were going, it seemed that Dan would most likely resume fighting at the side of his new companion, Rann. After a few minutes of silence, Rann spoke. He seemed not to like the 'lord' title that Dan had given him earlier. After a few more moments of silence, Dan responded.

"I understand. I myself am no great fan of such hierarchy, but I knew not how to adress the people gathered there. In my previous encounters with military factions, they all adressed each other in very formal fashion so I supposed these men would enjoy the same of me. I shall not call you that way ever again, from now on you shall only be 'Rann'. Since you seemed to know those men however, who exactly are they? Generals? Captains? It is not in my nature to ask such questions, but in this case it would be useful." Dan asked, focusing his telepathic message on Rann and Rann alone.

Hm, a man who dislikes stiff, formal hierarchy. A man truly to my heart. Hopefully, he will enlighten me regarding those two odd fellows, the shadowy Dunmer and the wolfish-looking Imperial. I sense we will deal with them in the future.

Flint Ironwood.

There were still two lines of archers holding up the walls. Seeing no need to present himself as a solitary target, Flint slipped in between them and stopped at the first open spot. He pulled back the string, took aim and released the arrow with a bit of a frown. The sharp projectile arced down at one of the Akaviri, who merely swung his sword and batted it away like a fly.
,,Damn it! These critters are fast with their hands!" He cursed.

When he reached back into his quiver for another arrow, the Breton noticed his arm was shaking. He sighed but still drew another arrow and tried again. The shaking intensified when he pulled back the string, to the point that the arrow went wide off and landed a stonesthrow from the snakemen's left flank.
,,I don't have enough strength in my arms to wield this thing. Dammit!"

Satyana

"Ok, then" she took Issac´s hand and followed him,
What will happen to us? Will we really survive this?

The young dunmer was a bit heavier than she expected, her knees bent but with a groan she stumbled after Rahvin....

Flogir

Flogir's disposition brightened at his co-commander's news. "A spell you say? Well it's at least worth a try, might be the only one we get but it's the only thing we got. You have my full endorsement to go seek the spell," Flogir said enthusiastically.

"As for your replacement..." he started as he began to scan across the group. Flint would've made a good given his perchance with range combat, but he was off all ready fighting. The rest, he wasn't sure about. Just then, Amrita stepped forward, a ploy to further the group's trust forming in her head.

"I'll be Altair's replacement," she said and revealed her crossbows, "I know a thing or two about archery and I've been around Altair long enough to know how to command and issue orders. It'll look like he never left, trust me," she finished, flashing a dark grin.

Flogir sighed, he didn't know the third sibling well but she provided good credentials. "Fine, the position is yours. Get up there. As for the rest of you, see to it that you stay alive and get this retreat moving smoothly."

With that Flogir nodded to the group and returned to ordering the troops.

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 20 2007, 09:38 PM

OCC: Perhaps to explain why there aren't thousands of soldiers escaping to Bruma, the Akaviri won't succeed in stopping the retreat, only killing a lot of soldiers. Also what should we do about Kirana's spell tomes hidden beneath Lake Rumare? Should Veric be able to sense them and use them to banish the Silhoutte?

Issac, Northern City Isle

When Satyana rose from the soldier she had been tending to, Issac clasped her hand and the hand of the Narza'Tai mage with the other. In turn the mage grapped the healed soldier's shoulder and all four vanished.

There was a brief eternity of vertigo, then they came back to the world. Issac glanced at Satyana to make sure she was still with him, then at the area around them. The Narza'Tai were moving rafts in from the west, enough to carry hundreds of people and many supplies.
Issac sighed, "It's hard to believe I'm saying this, but I'm glad to be getting out of this godforsaken city soon."

The mage turned to them, "The Morrowind Army will have one final stand within the city as we prepare. It would be appreciated if you three would help with the rafts and supplies."

Plys'Iea

The hunter watched from the outer battlements of the Imperial City as the Narza'Tai worked to prepare deliverance for the Army of Morrowind. A single Akaviri snakeman slithered up beside him, the two watched silently for a moment.

"Bring it to the Silhoutte's attention that the enemy intends to retreat across the lake. They must not evade us!" The alien hissed in Akaviri, pointing his staff first at the gathering flotilla and then at the shore to the north.
The Tsaesci growled and nodded before departing.

Jonathan stood off from the group, not being because he didn't feel important enough.. Well it actually was because he wasn't important enough. His abandonment of the group had left a gap between them, however he still needed to help in some way.

"Ladies, gentlemen.. If I may, how about may I aid you lovely people in this.. grand endeavor?" He said elegantly mocking a bow. "Oh yes, Jonathan Constantine if you remember?" His beard and hair not giving any clue to his previous state.

Rann

"Generals?" he repeated as he slowed his pace considerably to match Dan's injured gait, "No, I don't think there are any of them here. This war's just changed us. Flogir was a retired corporal, now he's leading Tamriel's last hope. Karn was once nothing more than a criminal and now he leads his own guild of assassins."

He smiled to himself for a moment before adding, "Hell, people used to call me rude, immature, abrasive. Now they call me Lord."

He walked towards the injured with the purpose of finding Dan a healer, though he made no mention of it. He thought he spotted both his parents walking along still a ways ahead of them.

Brianna

Looking at the injured and noticing Rahvin´s actions, Brianna sighed and stood motionless for a second. Then she spotted a young dunmer, not more than a child really, who obviously was in pain. She decided it was no time for a healing-process so she took a deep breath and did like Rahvin...flung him over his shoulder. The young dunmer was a bit heavier than she expected, her knees bent but with a groan she stumbled after Rahvin....

I can do this,.....I can...I can

Rahvin

Rahvin slowed down so that he was walking side by side with Brianna. She was obviously struggling with her load, but there was nothing he could do to help. She was tired, he was tired, everyone left in the city was tired. Exhaustion seemed like a disease, spreading rapidly with no cure in sight.

"We need to get all the injured that we can to the rafts," he commented, "Hopefully this will all be over soon..."

Altair

Altair walked with Flogir for a short while, staying silent until the nord commander found a moment of silence that he didn't have to fill with loud commands.

"Voltar and I will make our way to the library," he said, "But it may take some time to find what we need, so I want to ask that you hold off on the retreat as long as possible. I know it is may be too much to ask, but I do believe we may have the key to defeating our enemies."

OCC: If Dan asked Issac, Satyana, Ian, and Serene (even though she's not present), Rann's comment about himself was the exast opposite, he was better before the war! wink.gif

*Ian*

With the assembly over, the vampire made for the rally point where the stand would take place.

Kirana seemed amused, "The Devines truly smile on us, we have the magical advisor for Chancellor Ocato with us."
Ian felt relieved to some degree about Altair's blunder. "Seems odd the former Imperial Battlemage would need an advisor quarter of his age to give him magical insight."

"And to think, he used to be a simple politician who just wanted to instate a democrasy; this is a momentus uplifting." Kirana added with satisfaction
As Ian walked to the bridge between the Arcane University and the Arboreum District, he spotted Issac and Satyana.

Seeing them caused the vampire to pause. "I remember Serene and Flint mention a powerful Breton who tried to kill Brianna so Rann, Satyana, and Amrita were not born......"

"Karn said that person with Voltar, Veric? First appeared as a Breton." Ian didn't finish whatever thought came after that.
