With V:TM-B 2 just announced, Khajiit thought we could use a thread devoted to the series! Please post any news on the new game you find interesting (or disappointing should that happen) or stuff related to the old game. Doing a new play through as a Nosferatu? Tell us about it here! This one will probably pick back up where he left off with the Malkavian he started last year in the next few weeks.

I'm not much for vampires, but I have been interested in trying out the original one. I know that some of you very much enjoy it, so I was wondering about it. Is it sort of similar to a TES game in the type of gameplay, etc.? I notice some similarities but I don't know if it is just because it is also on the Gamebryo/Creation Engine. Also, what are the kinds of things that you really enjoy about the game (e.g. characters, locations, etc.)?

I saw some teasers for it on Gog. It looks cool. I am sure I will buy it. I remember playing the original tabletop rpg Vampire: The Masquerade back in the day. It had some really cool lore, and worked very well as a role playing game.

I liked the first game but I'm not bothering with this. It's way too modern in its style and looks like any other game now to be frank.

Still: Malks FTW! biggrin.gif

Going to install the first game now!

I am so excited. Never been more excited about any recent games than this to be honest. It’s about time we have a game devoted to vampire characters. Vampyr was decent but this game I’m sure will be tons of fun!

Ventrue’s my favorite.

I better get back to writing a vampire story lol.

Well, it’s similar to TES in some ways and very different in others. The world is very interesting to explore, imo, but it’s a hub style game world instead of open world. Your character will be from one of a bunch of different vampire “races”, and each one has its own look and feel when it comes to play style (one race is focused on being able to get what they want by talking, another uses blood magic to destroy enemies, so there’s a little something for everyone.). It’s set in modern times so you’ll be using a variety of firearms and melee weapons are similar to Fallout (baseball bats, tire irons, combat knives, fire axe, even a sword), but melee combat is done in third person. Otherwise you can freely switch viewpoints just like in TES (ranged combat works best in first person, imo, but you can try it in third if you like). One area where V:TM-B shines is its dialogue. The language used can be foul at times but it suits the setting and there are so many choices when it comes to responding to npcs, some of which can carry dire consequences so you must choose your words carefully at times or be prepared for consequences. It’s a really good game that you can find on GOG for fairly cheap (cheaper if it’s on sale) and it includes the unofficial patch that allows it to run on modern machines. Hope you decide to check it out!

Word of warning if you do decide to get it: save playing as a Malkavian for a second play through. Their dialogue will make more sense after you’ve played through the game as a member of the other “races”.

Hopefully Khajiit will have some more Malk action for you soon! That said, she’s still in Hollywood :\ .

Ventrue: the silver tongued devils! Khajiit’s first V:TM-B character was a Ventrue because their in game description reminded this one of Imperials from TES.

Please post your story if/when you get it finished!

I agree. You will understand them a whole lot better on a second playthrough. And a fourth and fifth biggrin.gif

Then you should at some point! Khajiit doesn’t know how you feel about ModDB, but they have a decent sized collection of mods for the game there.

Khajiit has only downloaded a couple of cosmetic mods, but for the most part enjoys the game as is. There are also mods that restore cut content, which could be interesting given everything we know about the rushed development of this game.

Posted by: mirocu Mar 24 2019, 07:01 PM

I can definitely recommend the Camarilla Edition for anyone playing. Don't remember exactly what it does now but I think it polishes the game and adds content and I do know I liked it.

@ Rader: GoG has V:TM-B on sale for $4.99 it seems. That is a steal.

Posted by: TheCheshireKhajiit Mar 25 2019, 04:50 PM

Hmmm, looks like the latest update on GoG also updated the unofficial patch which did something to make all the doors in Brigitte’s game act weird. Graphics are a little messed up too. Everything seems fine if you start a brand new play through though. Looks like Khajiit will either need to figure out how to revert back to the previous version of the unofficial patch or just start Brigitte’s game over. This one is kind of leaning towards the later even though we were pretty far along.

So, if anybody gets the game from GoG, try setting it to not auto update. This should prevent what happened to Khajiit from happening to you.

*edit: update*
AWESOME! GoG Galaxy has the older updates saved under settings and all you have to do to revert back is click the appropriate button! All is well now so Brigitte can continue on her older game!

She was worse than even Andre I think. Or not. Hard to pick. I did like going through the hotel in the later stage though, wiping out the Sabbat.

My absolute favourite area was Chinatown. I LOVED IT when I got there for the first time. Reminded me of Deus Ex.

Andre was loathsome. Khajiit felt really good after ending him the first time. Other really gross characters include the Brotherhood of the 9th Circle leaders Jezzabell Locke, Brother Canker, and Bishop Vick (please excuse if any of these names are misspelled).

Lol, wasn’t Jezebell spreading the plague as an STD? Khajiit doesn’t think that it was ever explicitly stated, but it was heavily implied given her contact with the prostitute.

Posted by: mirocu Mar 26 2019, 06:20 PM

That's after you find the sarcophogus and Beckett has a chance to finally study it up in the Ventrue tower. You get sent to go after Bach to the hunter's monestary by the beach where you also find the Norwegian scholar.

Ventrue: the silver tongued devils! Khajiit’s first V:TM-B character was a Ventrue because their in game description reminded this one of Imperials from TES.

Please post your story if/when you get it finished!

For sure. Ventrue is like that vampire clan from Cyrodiil; all about secrecy, manipulation, suave . . . and I like their suits!

I'm playing the first game right now and the story is pretty good. I'm glad the writer and composer are back for the second game. Just the interviews alone give me some high hopes. The recent https://venturebeat.com/2019/03/26/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-ii-interview-brian-mitsoda/2/ sheds light on it.

They have the perfect setting for it:

QUOTE
There’s been a big change in the last 30 years. Seattle is trying to figure out its identity. It’s a mix of the old, where originally it’s known for arts and music and the environment, and now we’re going into the tech space where everything’s being built up. How much do you change before the city kind of loses its identity? It’s something we deal with on a daily basis, to be honest. We encounter it everywhere we go in Seattle.

Kipling: It’s constantly changing.

Obviously vampires are attracted to power and politics. Seattle has a lot of power in that respect, on a global basis. It was really the perfect setting, not just speaking to the city of Seattle as a character, but also the political nuance of vampire society, the dark underground, the noir. It fit.

While Vampyr was a decent game, it did have numerous flaws in story and choices. I think the direction they're going makes lots of sense, especially for a vampire-centric game.

QUOTE

GamesBeat: For people who haven’t played the Masquerade before, what makes a vampire in Vampire: The Masquerade different from other bloodsuckers in media?

Mitsoda: Vampire the Masquerade is generally about the vampires staying secret. Unlike True Blood or even Buffy, I would argue, they are not out in the open. People do not know about them. They cannot know about them. Even now, as Dale [a character from Bloodlines II] says, it’s harder than ever to be a vampire. There are camera phones everywhere. Vampires have to be especially careful. There’s that element of your identity, keeping your identity secret. No one can know about what you are. And yet you’re a social creature. You have to go out there. You have to do business. You have to seduce people. You have to drink blood. You have to walk among mortals, but they cannot know who you are. The other thing that makes the Vampire setting different is, obviously, with the first game as well, it’s a much more mature universe. It’s not just in what we show as far as gore or anything that, but it’s about mature themes. As far as the dialogue goes, we’re exploring characters that are very nuanced and different from your average RPG, where it’s about good and evil. In the world of Vampire, you’re a monster. You’re struggling against the beast inside you. You’re constantly not only struggling to keep your identity secret, but you’re struggling with the thing that you are.

GamesBeat: Thing I’ve always associated with World of Darkness vampires is that they’re social creatures. But they can’t be social in the way we can be social. That paradox, if you’ll forgive me — do you play that up in this game?

Mitsoda: Oh, yeah. A whole lot of the game is just going out in the world and getting involved with the people there. Going to the bar and socializing, making contacts, figuring out how you can play people to your benefit. That’s what you do as a vampire. You’re not just skulking in the sewers. You’re not in a dungeon or something like that. You’re in the world, around people. Mostly you’re around humans. There aren’t nearly as many vampires as there are people.

Schlütter: Also, the idea of starting out as a thin-blood is more like—you’re being thrown into this world. It’s a very sudden experience. You still have a human background. You still need to figure out how to go about in this new world that’s been opened to you, as the character you were in life. You still carry that with you. That includes social connections and social traits as well. That’s something we play with a lot.

Kipling: It also empowers the player’s own agency, too, in terms of how they want to move through the world and interact with the world in terms of being that monstrous vampire, or playing more to the human, social side of it, engaging.

GamesBeat: Dale was talking about bagged blood. I assume he gets it from blood banks or distributors. Can you do that and not actually feed on people, if you want to go that way?

Mitsoda: The thing about bag blood — yes, you can get it. But bag blood just helps you get blood. The big thing for vampires in our game is to get resonance, which comes from feeding on people. It’s getting the emotional rush from feeding on people. Bag blood is like if all your food was Cheetos. You can technically get by on that, but it’s really not what you want to eat.

Kipling: Also, Dale as a character, his entire motivation is to remain cooped up in his apartment and not be involved in anything in the World of Darkness. It’s obviously a slightly different motivation than what we want the player to engage with as they progress through the world and try to figure out their place in it.

Mitsoda: It’d be a pretty boring game if you just played like Dale.

GamesBeat: Can you make friends with humans who willingly give you their blood and feed off the emotions of altruism and friendship that way? Or is that just too lovey-dovey for this game?

Mitsoda: I will say, you’ll definitely build some relationships in the game. I can’t go into specifics right now. But I mean, you—part of your core as a vampire is to make connections, to fool people, to get close to them in a way that you can use to get blood from them. Generally, vampires can be romantic, they can be nice, but at the end of the day they’re parasitic. They need blood, and they’ll do whatever it takes.

Kipling: The question itself is somewhat insidious, because it suggests that the motivation to become friends is to be able to drink their blood, which then questions the motivation for that relationship. It’s not the case that you meet somebody, you just happen to like them and become friends, and then consequently you also might be able to get blood from them. There’s definitely a motivation in blood for the player. That drives a lot of their actions and choices.

GameBeat: What’s the hardest thing about writing a vampire character?

Mitsoda: I have some experience now, so it does come a bit naturally. [Laughs]

I will say, the difficult thing in any character is just trying to figure out their voice and who they are, what they want. As far as vampires go, the way that I approach vampires is that, ultimately, they are locked in at death. There’s this idea for them that they can change, that they can become better, that they can retain their humanity, but ultimately, their biggest weakness is that they can’t really change when they’re a vampire. They’re whoever they were when they died. That’s how I approach vampires. But there are so many places that can be taken as far as where characters go. Vampires themselves, and especially in the Masquerade—there are so many different archetypes of vampires. You have the Anne Rice seductive type of inspiration. You have the corporate vampire, the one that latches on to a business and uses money because money is power. You have vampires that are on the street getting involved in organized crime, because they can hide there. No one talks in that world anyway. It’s always just figuring out how vampires would infiltrate various parts of society, and then what is their experience like when they’re there?

So far here are some facts about the game:

-Brian Mitsoda is lead writer (just like the original) alongside Chris Avellone and Cara Ellison

-Rik Schaffer is composing again

-Set in Seattle

-Seamless hub world

-Multiple hubs

-Direct sequel to 2004's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

-Takes place 15 years after Bloodlines

-Game starts off with a Mass Embrace at Pioneer Square where player is among the new vampires born from the event, you're captured and brought upon a court of prominent vampires like the first game to recount the events of the mass embrace before being sentenced to death, court is firebombed and you escape, thrust into Seattle to find out who's responsible

-In the trailer, the curly haired vampire with the blood bag is Dale Talley who is a recluse and is one of the first characters you meet. He is responsible for easing the player character into the World of Darkness.

-Player is a thin-blood at first, later on you can choose a clan.

-No quest markers

-First-person with contextual third-person actions just like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.

-Fan-favourite characters from Bloodlines returning

-You can use telekinesis, turn into mist to go through vents and glide

-You can scale buildings, there's an emphasis on verticality

-Level design is very reminiscent of the original Deus Ex in the sense that you're offered many different pathways to approach a particular scenario

-The protagonist is not voiced

-Way more dialogue than Bloodlines

-Huge emphasis on character creation. You can choose your background, gender pronoun, employment history, body type and fashion

-NPCs can react to you depending on what background you chose for your character in character creation

-Loads of secrets and hidden pathways to find

-Seattle as a hub world is described as "very active", crowds gather outside clubs and muggers prey on victims in side allies, all seamlessly done.

-Main side-questline involves hunting down and finding all the other thin-blood created from the Mass Embrace, each will have their own story about entering into their new life e.g you might find a married thin-blood struggling to deal with their newfound powers

-Blood resonance from the 5th edition will appear in this game. Using your enhanced vampire senses, you can see when NPCs are experiencing an intense emotion like fear, desire, pain, joy and anger. Humans give off a bright aura. Drinking a person with a strong resonance will give you an immediate bonus to things like melee power or seduction. If you drink a particular resonance constantly, you will acquire a taste for it and this will give you permanent buffs called "merits".

-If you continuously suck on people's blood in full view of the public, they'll be more wary of going to those areas and you'll see less citizens wandering the streets

-Emphasis on fluid combat, using vampiric speed to slide in and out of melee range and slash people and execute them with melee weapons. You can get special cinematic finishers in combat when you execute people a la Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Counters are in. Guns exist and are treated as temporary opportunities, you pick em up, use it, then discard it and move on.

-It is not confirmed whether or not you can carry weapons like in the original, pre-order skins for weapons point to being able to do so.

-Game has modding support, available Day 1.

-Sleep ingame. "We do have ways to push you through the story. You can go to sleep…and sometimes things will happen while you’re sleeping. Other times, you’ll need to sleep, vampires need rest too."

Yeah, Khajiit supposes he could have put points in Auspex, but it requires blood for the buff. Investing in “Wits” itself requires no blood. Also, Brigitte is so sneaky that she really doesn’t have to worry much about where guards are.

Yep, last hub. Won’t be long before we’ll need to make a choice...

What about Khajiit?

Khajiit doesn’t think he has a favorite per se. Beckett and Jack are cool. This one respects Max Strauss as he seems to be the only Camarilla vampire who is straight with you. This one isn’t very fond of most of the Anarchs either, but Abrams seems to be a decent sort. Certainly more respectable than that loud mouth Nines. Hate Bach and LaCroix. Gary is ok for the most part but what he did to Imalia was pretty damn wrong, regardless of whether she deserved it or not. So many great characters!

Posted by: mirocu Mar 29 2019, 09:37 PM

Yeah, Strauss is cool and I like Gary. Loved the introduction when you first get to the Nossie lair laugh.gif

I agree that Strauss is a breath of fresh air; being Camarilla but still keeps enough distance to look at it somewhat critically. When as Tremere I really liked the haven you get from him. Just too bad you get it sooo late in the game kvleft.gif

Yeah the JaegerSpas is a really nice gun! Khajiit likes how it has both pump and auto firing modes. Brigitte has been using the Brokk pistol to good effect, when she isn’t using her fists or combat knife.

Posted by: mirocu Apr 5 2019, 06:17 PM

Never did use the pump action, I always switched to autofire. I also never much used the Brokk. Guess I considered it to be too weak or something.

The Brokk is fairly decent early on. It has good accuracy, so while it’s damage is nothing spectacular, it can hit consistently at decent range. Until Brigitte got the Killmatic it was her go to long range weapon. She preferred her fists and knife for close quarters, although she does carry a JaegerSpas around with her.

Well, in anticipation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8kWlPrs9Zs biggrin.gif

Posted by: TheCheshireKhajiit Apr 16 2019, 12:36 AM

Ok so Brigitte has been one busy undead lady. She found out that Barabus, the Nosferatu spy, was being held in the the Fu Syndicate building by a man named simply as “The Mandarin”. After being trapped and forced to navigate a gauntlet of deadly experiments in the labs at the Fu Syndicate, Brigitte killed The Mandarin and released Barabus from his cell. Having done that, Gary called on a pay phone outside the Syndicate putting her on the trail of the Ankaran Sarcophagus, which is supposedly at the Giovanni mansion.

Before heading off to the mansion, Brigitte went shopping around various locations in LA for ammo and discovered a young Japanese girl named Yukie hanging out in the noodle shop in Chinatown. Turned out she was hunting a demon called a Hengeyokai living in human form there in Chinatown, but lost his trail. Brigitte offered to help, because she’s easily distracted, and went to talk to Ming Xiao to see if she knew anything about this demon. Ming Xiao, always so helpful, gave Brigitte not only a name for this demon (Zygaena), but also its location (The Red Dragon restaurant).

Armed with that information, Brigitte headed down to the Red Dragon and met with a man who claimed Zygaena was a business associate of his and he said he would arrange a meeting with Zygaena at his warehouse at the fish market. Brigitte went back to Yukie and told her what she learned, and since Brigitte was curious about this demon, she decided to help Yukie kill it. The pair met up at the fish market warehouse and went in. Inside, the man from the Red Dragon stepped out of the shadows, laughing, and then changed into a large humanoid hammerhead shark creature. It was a tough fight, but the hunters prevailed and another demon soul was sent screaming to hell.

After the battle, Brigitte parted ways with Yukie and headed off to the Giovanni mansion. The yellow cab pulled up the driveway of the mansion, where apparently there was a party going on. Some the guests could be seen mingling out front by a big fountain. Brigitte stepped out of the cab and prepared for whatever the night would bring. It was party time...

Exactly!!! It’s ridiculous, which is pretty much what the Malkavian sense of fashion is all about (the males are really bad too), but still.

Khajiit thought it was dumb that Brigitte pretty much knew the guy in the Red Dragon is the Hengeyōkai because of the “smells like fish” comments she kept making, yet they make such an exposition out of showing the guy turning into the creature.

First clan has been revealed as Thin-bloods. Official video for them is out! I know we’re getting another clan reveal tomorrow. I’m betting tomorrow is Toreador and next week Ventrue(woot!) if they’re going by order on the artwork for each clan page.

Poor thin-bloods, though. No matter if in ES universe or World of Darkness, they’re always looked down upon by their vampire superiors.

Are Thin Bloods considered a clan? Khajiit read an article in PCGamer magazine at the the local bookstore/coffee shop that said besides starting as a Thin Blood, only 5 clans will be playable. The devs supposedly didn’t reveal which 5 clans those would be. The journalist guessed those would be Brujah, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Tremere, and Ventrue. Khajiit thought that makes sense, though he hates for any of the clans from the original to be left out. Someone over at Beth.net said the devs were planning on releasing other clans in free updates, but this one cannot verify that due to lack of source.

According to the website, they’re labeled as a clan so I’m guessing they are? And that’s right, we get to join clans later in the game but how? I’m not sure. Since lorewise, thin-bloods aren’t really able to join clans unless they perform a ability that they take all of that vampires power. I think it’s called diablerie or something. It’s an illegal act in the vampiric community.

Oh I think Tremere are in. Developers said if people wanted to play an original mage-like character there’s a clan for that. And on the official website each clan icon had a different picture that matches the nature of said clan. Case in point, a ritualistic room with pentagrams on the ground. They also said of players just wanted to punch things, there’s a clan for that, too. I’m thinking Brujah? The anarchists, right?

They said they are indeed going to release more clans. We also have a werewolf-centric expansion/dlc coming named “Season of the Wolf.”

I’m excited! I think we get more news today!

Sorry this update is so light, we spent a lot of time playing through the mission and then restarting.

Brigitte walked away from the cab and approached a couple having a conversation in front of a fountain. The female, Maria, was obviously drunk and the male, Victor, was clearly annoyed with her. Figuring that Maria would be easier to influence, Brigitte started a conversation with her. She learned from Maria’s slurring words that the party was invitation only and so Brigitte used her powers of dementation to make Maria give up her invitation, giving Brigitte access to the party inside the mansion. After sniffing around some of the other guests outside, Brigitte stepped up to the bouncer at the door and showed him the invitation. He told her to enjoy herself and with that, Brigitte entered the mansion...

So that’s three clans confirmed:

Thinblood, Brujah and Tremere. Fingers crossed for Ventrue next week!

Oh it’s the animation that the Tremere power Blood Purge uses. Why making a human think they are on something that is spinning round and round causes them to vomit up blood is beyond Khajiit’s understanding.

... Brigitte entered the mansion to find the party in full swing. After speaking with some of the guests and finding them boring, her vampiric instincts revealed to her the existence of hidden doors that led to secret passageways within the walls. There were also two way mirrors in main areas so someone could observe what’s going on undetected. While exploring these passages she came across some locked bedroom and bathroom doors. One locked bedroom had a prostitute and a man who was passed out on a bed, and a locked bathroom had two party goers “powdering” their noses. Down one passage a two way mirror looked out into a large library, where Brigitte observed one of the Giovanni’s hired thugs open a secret door behind a book case that led to a tunnel. After draining the goon dry, Brigitte continued down the tunnel and found herself in an embalming room where she found the book Pisha wanted. She also discovered that the embalming slab functioned as an elevator that led to the Giovanni crypt below the mansion. Being necromancers, the Giovanni has some reanimated dead staggering around in the crypts so Brigitte had to fight through the undead until she finally found the room holding the Ankaran Sarcophagus. It was being guarded by two Kuei Jin, names the Chang Brothers, who revealed that LaCroix and Ming Xiao had an alliance and that Brigitte’s presence their violated that alliance. Brigitte defeated the Changs and loaded up the Sarcophagus into the back of a truck for transport to Ventrue tower...

I take it LaCroix is a Ventrue? I understand the character from the game is named after Lucien LaCroix from Forever Knight. I love the TV show. He was one of the coolest parts. He was an awesome villain, especially in the second season, because he didn't want to kill the protagonist. Instead he wanted to bring him back around to his own way of thinking, that humans are nothing but cattle. They had a very interesting Father-Son relationship.

It was an excellent show. I bought it on dvd, but I think Netflix has it. LaCroix on that show was definitely a Ventrue, and thusly Nick and Janette too, since he made them. Though Nick might be considered a Thin-Blood, as he is trying to become human again. In a few episodes he showed himself to be less vulnerable to other vampire's weaknesses - like sunlight - because of his quest to become mortal.

This Brigitte update is long and Imgur won’t let Khajiit post all of the screenies at once so it will come in two parts...

Part 1
After recovering the Ankaran Sarcophagus, she brought it back to Venture Tower. LaCroix was overjoyed to have it in his possession, but soon his excitement turned to exasperation when he realized Beckett didn’t know how to open it. He then tasked Brigitte with finding out how to open it, and Beckett provided the only lead: an archaeologist who was studying the Ankaran Sarcophagus named Johannsen was abducted by a group of vampire hunters known as the Society of Leopold. Beckett told Brigitte where to find the hunters and off she went like a bat on the night wind.

She arrived at an old mission church along the coast west northwest of LA. The place was heavily guarded, but Brigitte stalked the hunters on the ground level undetected and took them out one by one. Soon the only guards on the exterior of the building were the ones on the roof. They posed no threat as long Brigitte remained stealthy so she didn’t bother killing them. With the exterior cleared, Brigitte walked through the front doors.

The room she entered into was swarming with hunters. Brigitte was still sneaking though so they didn’t detect her in the dim light. All the same, she turned and went back out and around the building looking for a back entrance, which she found and unlocked with her lockpick. That entrance proved to be a better choice as there was only one hunter in the small chapel it opened into. To advance, Brigitte did have to deactivate a laser trip wire rigged to explosives which she did by hacking the nearby computer. After that, she attacked the lone hunter in the chapel, who was praying in front of a large cross on the back wall, by draining him dry. She then made her way down the hall towards the main entrance, taking out more guards and laser trip wires without alerting anyone. Brigitte found a stair case up to the second floor which opened into a large scribe room filled with hunters. They didn’t see her, so Brigitte let them be. In a small room up there, she found a scroll picturing the Sarcophagus and a book on vampires.

Brigitte then went back downstairs and found a room with more stairs that led to the cellar. She stealthily took out the two guards down there and found a hidden passage behind one of the wine barrels. This led to the caverns under the monastery. The door from the monastery building entered high up in a very deep cavern. Brigitte looked down and saw two guards way down at the bottom of the room and a series of cliffs with ladders leading down to the cave floor. Without a thought she stepped off the high cliff, ignoring the series of ladders and plummeted to the bottom of the cavern...

Part 2
Once Brigitte hit the cavern floor she went to work on the two guards she saw patrolling around. The fall caused a little damage but not enough to cause a problem. The first guard she forced an image of death into his mind that was so real the guy died from fright. The other guard opened fire on her but Brigitte was soon sinking her fangs into his throat. After those two were dealt with, she skulked down a tunnel that eventually branched. Brigitte decide to go straight instead of right at the branch and soon came upon a cavern with a small pool of water and several cages. Two guards stood at the entrance discussing something but soon moved off, isolating themselves from each other. Brigitte eliminated each one and noticed a captive in one of the cages. It turned out to be the actor, Ash, who she had helped earlier get rid of a hunter in his club. His face had been branded with the cross symbol of the Society of Leopold. Brigitte gave him a blood bag, freed him, and Ash thanked her before running off vowing to go somewhere no one would ever see his face again. With Ash freed, there was nothing left to do in that cavern so Brigitte backtracked to the branch of the tunnel and turned left.

That tunnel opened up into a large grotto complete with a boat dock and access to the sea, and swarming with hunters. Brigitte methodically took out the guards and made her way to the opposite end of the grotto. On the other end was a set of large double doors that opened into a large training and target practice area. Brigitte narrowly dodged a bullet fired from a sniper rifle on a high staircase all the way across the training area. She was then hailed by the same hunter, called Bach, that she saw in the inferno at Dr. Grout’s mansion earlier in her dark adventures. He taunted her and began shooting at her repeatedly. It was a tough fight, but Brigitte was able to get behind a structure and snipe Bach with her scoped assault rifle that she picked up from one of the hunters outside the monastery. After Bach lay dead, she crossed the room and climbed the stairs that led up to a room that apparently served as a safe room of sorts. Inside Brigitte found Johannsen and he told her everything he knew about the sarcophagus and that she’d need a key to open it. She then offered to help him escape and together they went back out into the training area cavern. Bach had one last surprise and set off a explosion that threatened to cause the whole cavern system to collapse before finally dying. Brigitte then ran back to the boat dock at the big grotto where she found a boat and used it to escape out to sea just before the cavern collapsed.

Brigitte made her way to Venture Tower where something bad had happened while she was away. There was scorched debris laying all over the area in front of the entrance to the Tower, and cop cars sat idling with their lights flashing. Inside the lobby floor in front of the security desk was covered in blood and the bodies of security guards and cops littered the stairs and the ground floor elevator landing. Brigitte took the elevator up to LaCroix’s penthouse, and found the Prince quite angry. He explained that while she was gone the Sabbat sent some goons to try and blow up the Sarcophagus and Venture Tower with it. He and his Sheriff eliminated them but the attack endangered the Masquerade which could not be tolerated. LaCroix then tasked Brigitte with eliminating the Sabbat leader at the Hallowbrook Hotel there in Downtown LA and asked what she learned about how to open the Sarcophagus. Brigitte then told him he needed to find the key which should’ve been in the crate the Sarcophagus was shipped in on the Elizabeth Dane. Beckett stated he would study the Sarcophagus until the key turned up, and with nothing left to say, Brigitte stalked off to go deal with the Sabbat...

No way to change your appearance short of maybe a mod. You can get different clothes as you progress through the game. They have some clothing options for mods too. Brigitte’s wardrobe looks different than her typical vanilla set.

She’s a mad Malkavian! If you can, you may want to play through the game at least once as a member of one of the other clans before playing as a Malkavian. Their dialogue will make much more sense...

In V:TM-Bloodlines 2 news, https://www.pcgamer.com/vampire-the-masqueradebloodlines-2s-hedonistic-toreador-clan-has-been-revealed/ is confirmed as a starting clan. Might make an excellent choice for a first play through character.

Posted by: mirocu May 17 2019, 07:51 AM

I've played Gangrel, Malk, Toreador and Tremere, in that order. Played as Malk at least twice btw, best clan ever if you can stand the dialogue font which I barely could.

Thinking Gangrel might be Khajiit’s next character. This one has never played them but finds their animal powers interesting

When I first started playing the game I was taking it quite seriously. But I soon found that having a more relaxed approach and being goofy was much more interesting laugh.gif

Posted by: SubRosa May 18 2019, 05:36 PM

My Tremere (named Hecate of course) is mostly done with Santa Monica now. She has picked up several weapons, a .38 revolver, a knife, and a baseball bat. The .38 is really underwhelming. I have read in places that firearms are good in the early game, but weak in the later game. They don't seem that great even in the early game. It looks like melee or unarmed is the way to go. I did just get a shotgun however, so maybe that is better. I have not had the chance to use it yet.

So far I liked the knife most. At least until I got the disembodied arm. That is now my favorite weapon. It is so over the top and insane it must have been put in for Malkavians. But it is undeniable fun to beat someone to death with an arm.

TBH, the thaumaturgy has not been great so far. There is a blood strike which does only a little bit of damage, and returns the blood it spends back to you. But it takes dozens of hits to put someone down, in which time I get really beat up. Hence my using the arm mostly instead. I never got the second level thaumaturgy power to work. I have not gotten the 3rd level one yet, that makes a shield out of blood.

I am wondering if the Dominate power that makes people commit suicide might be better?

I am also having trouble when I try to feed in combat. Does this ever work? It only did once for me. Most of the time she just grabs at my enemies with no effect.

Feeding while in combat is indeed a difficult task as the enemies are aware of you and thus can resist your attempts. If you want to increase your chances, put some points in Brawl I think. Anything that makes your character physically stronger. Blood Buff can also help with that.

And yeah, guns suck in this game. I used them anyway though since I like to shoot and some weapons like the Steyr Aug and the automatic shotgun are not halfbad.

Yeah firearms are really somewhat situational. Khajiit’s Brigitte is pretty good at using firearms. During the late early/mid game, she used the combo of the Glock-ish pistol and the JaegerSpas assault shot gun and a combat knife when she really needed to hurt something supernatural. Guns are great against zombies, but so is melee. Brigitte also killed the Vampire Hunter, Bach, with the assault rifle you can get in that mission. So really it’s up to you.

If you are having trouble feeding, it’s because your brawl skill isn’t very high. In combat, enemies will actively fight you to keep you from feeding on them, so a higher brawl score will make this easier. Otherwise, pop the Blood Buff power before trying to feed on a combatant. This will increase your strength and make it a bit easier to feed on the unwilling. Blood Buff is really useful when in melee combat with other vampires as well.

So can you block while in melee combat? I thought I saw something say you can use the Tab key to block or dodge, but it has never done anything for me.

I got Thaumaturgy up to level 3, and it seems to be working a lot better now. The Blood Shield was really cool. It seemed to stop everything in the big fight in the parking garage Downtown. The Blood Strike is doing much better damage now too. Something like 28 points an attack, where it was only 6 or 7 when I first started.

I also found that the Trance power works great in combat. It not only instantly takes one guy out of a mob, but it also makes it really easy to feed off them in the fight. Which has the added bonus of getting you back the blood point you spent on using the power!

Hecate is running around with an axe now. With Blood Shield to defend her, and Trance and Blood Strike, she is racking ass against mortals. I have not tried it against vampires though.

I was disappointed to find that even though I have Dominate, it does not work in dialogue however. It seems only the Ventrue can use it to get special options when talking to people.

Not sure about blocking though. As I'm an all gun kinda vampire I never really delved into it. But I do know that putting points into Dodge helps with that, although there's no animation for it. You just avoid taking damage when the dice are rolled.

Khajiit was sure Dominate can be used in certain instances in conversation. It’s been a while since this one played as a Tremere though. Blocking is done by pressing the secondary attack button while in melee, if memory serves correctly. Khajiit has that mapped to one of the “thumb buttons” on the left side of his mouse.

I read that with the unofficial patch (which my Gog version of the game came with built in) Tremere are supposed to get the equivalent of 1 point of Dominate in conversations. But I have never seen the option yet.

I found the Clandoc000 file, with all the particulars of each clan, and found a BlueBlood line. Normally only Ventrue get it set to 1, everyone else has it at 0. So I set that to 1 for Tremere as well. But so far that has not changed anything. It is probably for something else. Maybe those Blue Blood blood packs? My guess is that the game simply checked to see if you are Ventrue, not if you are Blue Blood.

It is one of the side quests Downtown. When you talk to Fat Larry (the vendor who stands behind a van), he gives you a quest to go to a parking garage where some kind of buy is going down between two gangs. He wants you to get the briefcase of stuff being sold.

So are any of you guys using the Unofficial Patch? I found out that the Gog version of the game comes with the basic version of the Unofficial Patch. But apparently there is a more fleshed out version of the UP, that adds more stuff. I was wondering if it was worth getting?

Posted by: mirocu May 19 2019, 08:33 PM

I don't think I ever did that. All I remember is running the Camarilla Edition and a companion mod. Don't recommend mods though as this game is not made to run them like Bethesda's.

Posted by: SubRosa May 19 2019, 09:55 PM

I just read up a little on the Camarilla Edition. Wow, it sounds a lot harder. You lose a blood point every 3 minutes of gameplay? You must be killing everyone in the game and draining them! ohmy.gif

I have a lot of mods that I added already. All of them are basically just for looks however. I found the one Khajiit is using for the Malkavian starting outfit. I found another that changes the starting Brujah outfit to Selene's from the Underworld movies. *rawr*. Plus one that gives Lacroix a pinstripe suit. There are a couple that tweak the Gangrel and Tremere bodies and outfits. They don't really change them, just fix issues with texture seams and the like.

I think I am going to try the full version of the Unofficial Patch, to see what it adds.

I added it, and had to start a new game. Oh well, I was thinking of doing that anyway, given what I now know.

One thing I like about the Unofficial Patch (even the basic version of Gog) is that it adds Histories you can choose from at character creation. They are similar to Traits in the old Fallout games. They do things like change the cost order of Traits, Skills, etc... Some give bonuses to certain things, at the cost of penalties to others, and so on. The Full Unofficial Patch seems to add a few more than the basic version had.

Also, there's another way to do that garage quest that yield more XP... wink.gif

I found some air vents through the garage that would help trying to sneak past the guards. But I just killed them all anyway. I am an old school RPG'er. I would rather kill them all... laugh.gif

Ooo that blue blood setting might refer to the Ventrue not being able to feed off bums and rats. Just a guess.

I think it is. My Ventrue has some in his inventory and it works wonders. He tried feeding on bums in the streets and vomited blood.

I have played with the full version of the Unofficial Patch for a while now. I can definitely see some differences. For starters, my Dominate options are showing up in dialogue now, even though I am a Tremere. That is really nice. It makes some quests a lot easier. Like making Vandal chill out after freeing Lily.

I also have noticed that some items have gotten moved around. There are a couple skill books normally for sale at the pawn shop that have been moved to other places along the main quest. So you can get them for free. Not that buying them is a big problem. I also could not find the Weepanaug Whistle, or whatever it is actually called, in the haunted house quest. So I just used the console to get it.

Besides that I have noticed new textures in places like the tattoo parlor. New music. I think even the weather was changed to add rain. Though I could be wrong, and maybe it rained before.

So far, I am liking the full version of the UP.

I just found out that there is a Bloodheal power everyone is supposed to get. I never did. I tried adding it with the console, but while it shows up in the list you cycle through with the mouse wheel, it still does not work.

So I did a reinstall, and tried it again with my old saves (I backed them up). Still no dice. But for drips and giggles I started a new character just to test, and she got it automatically, and it worked.

So if I want Bloodheal, I have to start the game all over, again. *grrr*

The Unofficial Patch Plus version has it too, which is what I am using.

It turns out that Is_Blueblood 1 line in the Clandoc file was indeed about the Ventrue getting sick on rats and bums. Yesterday I tried feeding from a bum, and threw up! I had already changed it back, but I was still working off a save from when it was on. So just as well I restarted.

OTOH, that means you can set it to 0 for Ventrue, and they can feed off anything.

Good to know! That said, Khajiit played a Ventrue on his first play through because they reminded him of Imperials from TES3, and doesn’t remember it being a serious problem not being able to feed on bums and rats.

It’s back up! Ventrue baby! My boys are back!

New info:

•Ventrue Disciplines: Dominate and Fortitude.
•No Ventrue powers break the masquerade.
•Curse: Refined taste for blood, resonance/taste system for blood.
•The character models we see for the clans are NPCs. You can follow their "style" to a certain extent but the character images that we've seen like this are real people.
•Game on steam, GOG, epic, paradox store etc..
•Weapons do break, for guns they are trying to design the gameplay to be "improvisational" and are still working to balance it and don't want to talk about it too much right now as they are still working on it.
•Healing through blood is an intrinsic ablity that can be done with a button press. There are ways of making this healing more effective.
•Bloodbuff/ blood rouse "in many ways is always on".
•There will facial customiazation and they want to stick "library of options" instead of sliders. They will show us more later.

It is good to hear that there will be some options to customize character faces. One of the hard things about playing old games like this is not being able to change anything about how your character looks.

After I finish with Hecate, I am thinking of another playthrough with a Ventrue. Dominate is turning out to be really impressive in combat. If Fortitude works like turning you into a tank, that ought to be an impressive combination. Just add a sword and watch all the blood splatter!

That reminds me, I have seen some people say that Potence is basically useless. Apparently the way the game works it adds your strength + melee or brawl skill, with a max of 10, and the discipline adds onto that. But it still maxes out at 10. So a Strength 5, + Melee 5, + Potence 5 still only = 10?

Hmm, I did some digging, and it looks like with the Unofficial Patch the points beyond 10 get turned into Lethality. Whatever that means. So apparently it does still help.

Hmmm, lethality is a weapon stat. Usually the higher the lethality of a weapon, the more damage you do per strike. Maybe it adds a buff to the lethality of whatever weapon/s you use while under the effects of the power?

Posted by: SubRosa May 22 2019, 10:49 PM

I have never really understood how damage works.

QUOTE(SubRosa @ May 22 2019, 04:49 PM) *

I have never really understood how damage works.

Here is a Reddit post with the supposed math:
Whenever there is a hit, the damage is then calculated in the following manner –

Damage Potential = Base Damage x (Lethality + Feat Adjustment)

So, if the PC, who has a Melee combat Feat of 5, uses a Knife which has a Melee Combat Requirement of 4, Lethality of 7, and Base Damage of 3, then the Damage Potential is 24 = 3 x (7+1) .

Khajiit thinks that feat adjustment could be a number you subtract to get if you are trying to use a weapon that you do not meet the requirements for. So in the example if you used the same weapon but had a melee combat of only 3, it would calculate like this:
18 = 3(7-1)

Brujah-DPS/Warrior

Tremere-Magic/Mage

Ventrue-Defense/Tank.

Are you playing the new game?! blink.gif

No, no lol. I meant the first game. I’m still learning the ropes on that one.

Brujah abilities:

The signature Discipline of the Brujah imbues their undead bodies with the pinnacle of raw Kindred strength. Nobody underestimates the strength of a Brujah twice.

• Fist of Caine (Blood Cost: 2), Potence’s first active power, allows the Brujah to deliver a devastating punch that turns walls into rubble and throws enemies through the air, tearing of limbs and causing collateral damage. The • • slot enhances these devastating effects even further.

• • • Earthshock (Blood Cost: 2), the second active power, smashes the ground with titanic force. The impact causes a shockwave around the player, damaging and knocking down anyone who dared to stray too close. After further upgrades with the • • • • and • • • • • slots, the ground cracks under the Brujah’s onslaught, sending fissures outwards and damaging anyone caught in this cataclysm.

CELERITY

Some Kindred strike faster, dodge quicker, and escape more nimbly than any mortal creature could hope to. They use Celerity, the Discipline of pushing their bodies’ speed beyond all limits.

• Unseen Storm (Blood Cost: 2), the first active, allows the vampire to dash in a direction of their choice at such a speed as to momentarily disappear from view, allowing them to land attacks, dodge around enemies, or get away before the dust has time to settle. Characters struck along the way of the dash get knocked down. The • • slot further enhances the Unseen Storm.

• • • Accelerate (Blood Cost: 5), the second active, opens up speeds so fast that everything else in the world appears to slow down to a virtual standstill. Assailants seem frozen in their attacks, cars crawl forward, bullets zip by lazily, and the vampire can get up to the kinds of stunts that, with a popular 80’s synth track in the background, would make an awesome movie scene. The • • • • and • • • • • slots allow the vampire to further improve their acceleration.

Tremere Abilities

THAUMATURGY

Few secrets are guarded more jealously by the Tremere than their signature Discipline: Blood sorcery. Followers of the Path of Blood gain almost unparalleled destructive power.

• Skewer (Blood Cost: 3), the first active Thaumaturgy power, launches a small portion of the vampire’s Vitae at the feet of their enemies, where it erupts in a patch of razor-sharp spikes. Once they dissolve, a stream of blood flows back to the caster. The • • slot upgrades Skewer.

• • • Purge (Blood Cost: 3), the second active power, allows the vampire to make their victims vomit up blood, damaging them heavily. A stream of blood flows back to the caster. The • • • • and • • • • • slots enhance Purge, until it reaches its ultimate potential.

• • • • • Blood Boil (Blood Cost: 2 x 3). A master of Thaumaturgy may cast Purge for a second time on an affected NPC, causing the blood in their veins to sear. The wretch explodes within moments; bystanders in a large area are damaged. Blood from each victim streams back to the caster.

AUSPEX

Nothing stays hidden to those who master the Discipline of Auspex. By expanding their own senses beyond the boundaries of their bodies, these Kindred inch ever closer to their personal idea of perfection.

• Aura Sense (Blood Cost: 2), Auspex’ first active, allows the vampire to spot NPCs even through walls, read crowds at a glance, and mark individuals to keep them in their sights over long distances. It also allows the user to spot the weaknesses in the marked NPC’s attack and defense. The • • and • • • • • slots enhance Aura Sense.

• • • Psychic Projection (Blood Cost: 2), the second active, detaches the vampire’s mind from their body. Untethered, they can explore the area in astral form, remaining free to use Aura Sight to mark any character they spot. Beyond that, the vampire’s mastery of their own senses has grown to such an extent that they can telepathically overwhelm the senses of others for a short while. The • • • • slot enhances Psychic Projection.

Ventrue abilities

DOMINATE

Guardians of the Masquerade and Princes of uncounted cities, it runs in the Ventrues’ blood to be obeyed. Their signature Discipline allows them to Dominate the actions and memories of others.

• Mesmerize (Blood Cost: 3), the primary Dominate power, allows the Ventrue to place one NPC in a brief hypnotic trance. The person so affected is oblivious to the world around them, ignoring sound, touch and even pain. The • • slot intensifies Mesmerize’s effect.

• • • Command (Blood Cost: 0), the secondary Dominate power, significantly extends the Ventrue’s control over the Mesmerized NPC. They can now be ordered to move, remove obstacles, or even attack others. The • • • • and • • • • • slots upgrade Command.

FORTITUDE

Few things truly worry the vampire who masters Fortitude, the Discipline of physical resilience. After all, why fear the battle when you are certain to outlast your foe?

• Absorb (Blood Cost: 2), the first active, allows the vampire to take a brief defensive stance in which they may deflect all attacks they can see, healing their wounds for every would-be strike. The • • slot increases Absorb’s effects.

• • • Personal Armor (Blood Cost: 2), the second active power, hardens the vampire’s skin into a stone-like barrier. The • • • • and • • • • • slots upgrade this power to the point where a true master becomes impervious to attacks, causing attackers to stagger back from the recoil of their own strikes.

So do we ever find out who the mystery vampire is who keeps disappearing in a puff of black smoke? I have seen him several times now. Sometimes it was while doing quests. Sometimes just in alleys. He always vanishes before I can get close enough to try talking to him.

No idea who that is huh.gif

I found out on the Planet Vampire forum. Apparently he is added by the Unofficial Patch Plus version. He's a Lasombra who shows up later in the game.

Yeah he’s a Sabbat guy. Spying on you. The official game guide mentions him though Khajiit has never seen him.

Turns out he is part of Beckett's Library quest added by the Plus Patch. I just started it now.

I also found out that the laptop in your haven only displays the first 10 emails, even if you have more. You have to either delete some to see more, or go to the 10th and keep pressing N to see the next emails. I missed a ton of them because of that. I thought no one was emailing me anymore! ohmy.gif

I am just now reading in one of the walkthroughs that you should not delete any emails, as it might cause the game to crash.

Of course I deleted a bunch of emails...

Maybe. I am going to just roll with it and see what happens. It is easier to see new emails if I delete the old ones.

I have not been able to get the haven in the Tremere Chantry Downtown, in spite of being a Tremere, being nice to Strauss, and doing the two quests required. But I found a console command to get it:

G.Regent_Family=3

That moves you in. Apparently it works even if you are not a Tremere!

Khajiit got the Chantry haven during his Tremere play through years and years ago. Of course, that was on the cd version of the game and didn’t have the unofficial patch.

In order to avoid spoilers, this one is taking a break from Brigitte’s game until Subbie finishes her current play through. She is almost at the end game, and she should experience it without knowing what’s next!

Hmm. Been years since I played as Tremere, but I remember getting access to it very late in the game. And I did his stuff too. Maybe you need to get stronger or just advance the MQ enough?

Posted by: SubRosa May 27 2019, 05:28 PM

I think the problem might be the Plague bearer quest. Both Strauss and Damsel give it to you. Apparently if you talk to Damsel about it first, you cannot get the Chantry haven. That might be what happened to me. I don't remember anymore.

Hopefully I can finish it today.

I am now on the way to Griffith Park to see Nines. I keep hearing a wolf howling. I don't think it is a gangrel either. I saw something about a werewolf in the Hollywood Ghost tv show guy's computer. So I expect I will be meeting tall, dark, and furry there...

After talking to Lacroix I get the distinct impression that he is going to have me tailed to find Nines, and then try to kill us both. We are the final loose ends he needs to tie up to hide his alliance with the Chinese. It is what I would do. So if I had the opportunity, I would be making an alliance with Nines and Strauss right now to kill Lacroix. Too bad the game won't seem to let me. This whole time I have been playing the loyal soldier, looking for the chance to betray Lacroix and kill him. This would seem to be the time.

Well, I beat the game like a red-haired stepchild. It really dragged on too much at the end. I just wanted to get it over with, so I started using the notarget console command to skip fighting the hordes of minions at Ming-Xiao's. And that battle with the sheriff bat on the roof, that just took forever.

At least the final confrontation with Lacroix was streamlined. Instead of fighting him, it was resolved with just some dialogue choices.

I went the Indie route with Hecate, and gave Lacroix the key. Beckett had been very clear about not opening the sacrophagus, and I believed him - whether it was Gehenna or not. Lacroix was so obsessed with it, that I figured either way, it would destroy him in a most poetic fashion. I am a little disappointed that it was not supernatural. But I did laugh along with Lacroix all the while.

I really liked the writing in this. Though I wish they had given you more options on how to act. Such as giving you the option of preemptively betraying Lacroix near the end.

Well that’s one reason it was so funny! Everyone was so concerned with the supernatural and turned out to be something so mundane!

One thing that has been really weird this entire time is how everyone in the game pronounces Lacroix's name. They all say La-croy. But after Forever Knight, I am used to La-Cwa.

But Lacroix from Forever Knight would have never been so reckless as his namesake in the game. Certainly not so obsessed over the sarcophagus. He was always a skeptic when it came to magic.

Khajiit has heard it both ways in real life. This one believes the “la-Cwa” pronunciation is probably the true French pronunciation and that the “La-Cory” pronunciation is just an English bastardization.

Congrats on finishing the game!

Did you like it?

Posted by: SubRosa May 28 2019, 09:04 PM

I enjoyed it immensely. Partly just for nostalgia. I played VtM and Werewolf back in the 90s, when they were tabletop rpgs. This was a fun walk down memory lane. But even that aside, it was a good game. The voice acting is superb. The writing is really well done. It has neat little easter eggs like Lacroix and Jeanette (who were vampires in the Forever Knight tv show). It makes me want to play more. I am really looking forward to the new game coming out next year.

Now I want to look into modding to see if I can change the durations of powers like Fortitude and Presence. Because I will never think to keep activating them in combat. I would like to make them act like Blood Shield does, which you turn on once and remain indefinitely active, until you manually turn it off.

It took some digging but I figured out how:

To change the duration of Disciplines open the Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines\Unofficial Patch\Vdata\System\Stats.txt file.

Go down toward the bottom after the section called ActiveDisciplines and you will find that each Discipline has another set of entries there, with text like this:

Durations
{
"Initial_1" "40"
"Add_1" "0"

"Initial_2" "40"
"Add_2" "0"

"Initial_3" "40"
"Add_3" "0"

"Initial_4" "40"
"Add_4" "0"

"Initial_5" "40"
"Add_5" "0"

Change the "40" to the duration you want. I changed it to 9999 to the ones I want to be essentially indefinite, Like Fortitude. You can still turn them off with F8.

That is another obvious one. I am sure all the clans in Bloodlines 1 will be in the sequel. It wouldn't be VtM without them. Hopefully along with the Thin-Bloods, they will have some of the other interesting ones, like the Assamites, or Sets, or Tzimscie or Ravnos too.

If they really want to be clever, they can just do the standard clans in the original game, and then release new clans as dlc later. They could milk that for a dozen mini-dlcs right there. That's what the Total War games do now with releasing new playable factions.

Lol, well at this point, Khajiit is just happy we are getting a sequel. If the gameplay is as good or better than the original then this one couldn’t care less if he has to wait a bit for the rest of the Clans to be released. And who knows? We may even end up with more clans than the original.

Khajiit actually thinks that would be a good show or movie. How would a super devout person deal with changing into a monster and their slow loss of faith. Would be interesting, this one thinks.

Heh. Makes me think of Blade Trinity where the human FBI agents ask Blade about Hindu and Jewish vampires.

“You can stake 'em, right? Then there's sunlight -- what about crosses, Wilson? Do those work?”

“I don't know, Ray. What if a vampire's Jewish?”

“That's a good point. And does garlic work on a Hindu vampire? Or do you need saffron or something?”

tongue.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jun 4 2019, 01:47 AM

Garlic works on me, and I'm not even a vampire... wink.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jun 4 2019, 08:59 PM

I now recall that in the Hunters sourcebook there was a Puritan hunter what was also a ghoul. He survived from drinking from the vampires he killed. He was hundreds of years old, and a very old school Calvinist type.

https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Caiaphas_Smith. He's not an actual vampire, but close.

OTOH, I am enjoying playing a Ventrue a lot. Fortitude gives you staying power in combat, and Ventrue Dominate really helps with dialogue. Presence seems a bit iffy. It does help, but it also warns people you are trying to sneak up on, preventing sneak attacks.

If I could have a vampire with Fortitude, Dominate, and Obfuscate that would be awesome. She could fight, talk, and sneak.

Posted by: mirocu Jun 6 2019, 04:02 PM

For me the Malk is pretty much good enough. Maybe switch Auspex for Fortitude but then again, it's good for hacking and shooting indifferent.gif
