OOC:Woah there, sorry for my absence, took longer than expected for me to get back to Swansea to get my stuff.

Dalarius watched the men work with intent eyes. The burnt man didn't frighten him, just repulsed him, but he understood that it was likely that he'd be useful, the large mercenary too seemed useful, though his temper reminded Dalarius of the bullies back in Kvatch. However, the two redgaurds with the table appeared to be the ones actually working on a plan, rather than trying to assert themselves as the alpha male, and so Dalarius carefully moved over to them, his steps measured.

He followed them up the stairs, staying just out of reach and half in shadow, but close enough to hear their conversation. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his lockpicks before nimbly climbing onto the closest windowsill. His eyes sought those of the two redguards and he began to motion between his lockpicks and one of the further windows, indicating that they'd likely be locked.

------

The undercurrents of the Arcane was uncertain, even to one such as Cyldreen. At times, the undercurrent was bright as the Morning Star but mostly it was a darkened wind, heading towards a directionless road.

But this time, he could 'smell' a focused current, dragging with it the scent of wildness and untamed skill.

It was on a child. A Bosmer child.

On a nanosecond, Cyldreen thought that this one was blessed by Y'ffre. He dismissed that idea as soon as it appeared. Such wildness could only be curse, no doubt. He would have to keep an eye on this sneaky elf, he is a threat to everybody as much as to himself.

He left the thought buried on his mind, ready to be dug up if the need arises. But for now, a feast awaits him. He would have to be discreet about it, however. For the moment, he went against the idea of butchering the Imperial in plain view. Not that he mind, but that damned Vernon would surely go Divine Crusader on him and insinuate a fight.

He still has a crucial part to play and when that is over..

I would get to feast on the Voidserpent's children.. The taste of the damned leaves a sweet taste for days.

"Go on, then," he barked at the Imperial barkeep. "Go before I chop your feet and make you watch as I burn it!"

He turned to the petrified .. sheeps. The inner wolf in him howled in perverse joy at the sight.

"Move!"

Kaye
With one last grunt and careful step, the two Redguards made it to the top of the stairs. Beneath them, Cyldreen yelled some more but it seemed that he would not be overly violent for the moment.

Kaye shook aside his worries about the man and focussed instead on the interior of the upper floor which he had not yet seen. From the top of the stairs, there was a simple straight corridor with doors on one side leading to the rentable rooms, while windows looked out onto the streets on the other. Kaye let his eyes wander across the doors and wondered if one of them would lead to the best escape route. Most of the doors were open, but two of them remained closed. If any of the rooms were occupied, it would be these two. If so, he doubted the occupants would have missed the commotion downstairs.
"Though I guess I would stay in my room myself then. What with all the threats of murder being yelled back and forth downstairs."

A small child slipped passed them and climbed onto one of the windowsills. Silently, he held up some thin tools of some sort and motioned towards the windows with them. The older man nodded.
"Lockpicks? Guess the little one has to resort to theft in order to survive. Ah well, right now is not the time to worry about such things. Besides, that talent of his might just save our skins."
"That would be very appreciated. I'd rather not go back down and ask for the key."

OOC: Minque, if you still want to join you can take one of the closed rooms.

Rianne de Zoete

"Hope that the door is sturdy enough, hope that they forgot I'm still here"

Rianne didn't make a single move, except from just shivering as she sat on her bed watching the door with smarting eyes.

She arrived at the Inn yesterday, when everything was calm and easy. Now the situation was changed. The commotion downstairs worried her, she was sick and tired of all the "tiny steps" she wanted some action,,

The human monster ascended the stairs and came to a corridor, doors and windows to each side. Two of them were locked and the others were ajar or opened. He suspected that the two rooms were occupied. Or a customer kindly closed them in a kind gesture. He opted for the former.

But just to be sure, he approached the first door and sniffed.

Nothing.

The second door, however, yielded an interesting scent for the wolf in Cyldreen.

I smell a past full of pain, of emotional scars yet unhealed. The ash and the residual dirt of Vvardenfell speaks of a Morrowinder, perhaps a dunmer. The incense of a well-maintained skin and general hygiene confirms that this is a woman. Hmm.

He motioned to the two redguards that there was someone in here. And then he smiled, a demon's grin.

With a voice hoarse, he said:

"I sense you. Best come out, lest I barge right in and make a feast out of you . . . Dunmer."

Zaeed was pacing nervously about the ground floor of the inn. All the others who seemed to have some potential had ether gone upstairs or in the case of the thrice accursed Redguard stood glaring at him. After Cyldreen yelled at the frightened civilians they slowly started to dissappear up into the first floor of the inn. A sound of splintering wood caught his attention however and sure enough when his eyes scanned the door he could see that it was starting to crack.

He spun around and grabbed a heavy oak table that he tried to move over against the door so that they could add an extra layer of protection. He grunted with the effort it took to move the heavy table and to his immense agitation no one was even noticing what was happening, that was when he lost it.

"ALRIGHT YOU WITLESS SHEEP, THESE BEAST ARE NEARLY THROUGH THE DOOR SO GET YOUR SORRY ARSES UP TO THE FIRST FLOOR NOW BEFORE I GO THROUGH WITH MY FIRST PLAN", that got their attention and they nearly scrambled over each other in order to get up to the first floor turning around towards Vernon he growled angrily at him. "You help me move this table so that we can stop these ifernal beasts before they break through".

Dalarius was already at work on the windows lock, falling into the familiar swing of checking the pins and softly easing them into position. On a subconscious level he knew he could feel the lock, not just pressed against the sides of his hands as he pressed against it, but in a more tangible sense in his mind. Knew he could change the shape of the pins if he needed, could lift them with just his will. But some part of him, a deep primal fear in him, told him not too, to not release the beast that was within.

There was a click and the window swung open, nearly taking him with it. Instead he tumbled backwards, an innate swiftness of reaction and limb sending him tumbling from the perilous drop to the less perilous one. He landed with a soft thud and a whimper, before rolling away and moving to one of the corners. His work was done and his usefulness proved, now he just needed to wait.

"Thank you," Veqrnon said to the child, tossing him a few coins."Now, lets get this in place," He said, lifting up the table for the second time.

He could hear shouting downstairs, and then a crowd of people moving upstairs."Am I the only one here who isnt terrorizing civilians!?" Vernon shouted. After thinking for a minute, Vernon smiled to himself."A child of Sithis, against inspiring fear,"He thought to himself."What odd times we live in."

Kaye

Even while the child busied himself with the window, Cyldreen pushed passed Kaye and began to investigate the closed off rooms by, strangely enough, sniffing at the locks. At the second one he apparantly discovered something, which he indicated with a gesture at Vernon and Kaye before loudy threatening the occupant inside.

The upstairs presence of the man had worried Kaye from the moment he became aware of him. Part of the reason why he'd been so eager to lug the table upstairs was to get away from Cyldreen as soon as possible, or at least earn a temporary reprieve.
"At least he's no longer threatening the poor folk downstairs." Kaye thought.
"Right right, you're hungry. We get it. Now would you please take a look out of the window and tell us what you see out there? I'd like to know how many wandering dead will be beneath our feet, or if the streets have been cleaned out by the guards by now." He muttered while shaking his head.

They had rested the tabletop against a wall as they waited for Dalarius to do his magic. For a while, the child tinkered with the lock, but soon the window swung open, almost taking the youngster with it.
"Hey, you alright, son?" The Redguard asked as the Bosmer only barely managed to avoid falling out of the building. Meanwhile, Vernon tossed over a few coins and picked up his end of the tabletop again.
"Now, lets get this in place," The younger of the two Redguards said.
"Err, yes. Let's do that." Kaye replied and maneouvred closer to the now open window. He didn't know if Dalarius had been hurt or not by his tumble, but at least he was alive and aware of his surroundings so he probably had only suffered a few bruises at the worst.

"ALRIGHT YOU WITLESS SHEEP, THESE BEAST ARE NEARLY THROUGH THE DOOR SO GET YOUR SORRY ARSES UP TO THE FIRST FLOOR NOW BEFORE I GO THROUGH WITH MY FIRST PLAN" Upon hearing the renewed yelling from downstairs, soon to be followed by the thumping of feet storming up the stairs, Kaye really began to get worried. It wasn't the impending breakin of the undead that had really caught his attention, troublesome as that would be. No, it was the prospect of having all inhabitants of the building stampeding to the topfloor. He didn't know if the sturcture was even designed to handle the weight of so many feet on the upper level, and he doubted that the creaking stairs would survive the ascent of a panicked mob unscathed. But above all, there would simply be no room to maneouvre their makeshift bridge into position with everyone crowding around them.

"Am I the only one here who isnt terrorizing civilians!?" Vernon shouted as he quite clearly had gotten frustrated himself with the madmen they were trapped with.
"It sure seems so, sir. But let's get this thing into place quickly before someone knocks it out our hands." Kaye answered as he picked up the pace and got them in front of the open window just before the first frightened drunkard reached the top.
"Ah, the window on the other side is open as well. That makes things much easier."
