QUOTE(Decrepit @ Mar 19 2019, 09:05 PM) With hearing so far gone, I confine myself pretty much to solo piano works these days, which I hear well enough to enjoy. I recently came upon a recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No.7 Op.10 No.3 as performed by Louis Lortie. I like it very much. The first moment is played at a fast clip. The second, in contrast, is slower than one often hear it, to good effect though it took me a few measures to acclimate myself to the tempo. This particular video includes two different performances of the piece back to back. I'm not as taken with the second. Too bad this wasn't a video of him playing it; can you imagine seeing how fast his fingers had to be moving for this? Amazing!

Too bad this wasn't a video of him playing it; can you imagine seeing how fast his fingers had to be moving for this? Amazing! Talk about fast fingers... Here's Liszt's " Reminiscences on (Mozart's opera) Don Juan," as played by a pianist, previously unknown to me, the uploader names 'Okada.' There seems to be a number of pianist bearing that last name. No idea which this is. In any case, the work is fiendishly demanding. Truth to tell, I've not been overly keen on it...until now. Okada handles technical hurtles with apparent ease yet brings out musicality better than I thought possible for a piece of this sort. I suspected it to be a studio recording and was pleasantly amazed when (well justified) audience applause broke out at the end. (Admittedly, it helps to be familiar with the opera, which I am, to better grasp the melodies Liszt plays around with.)

You haven't heard a masterpiece of music until you've heard this. Prepare to be blown away! (I promise this is NOT a Rick-Roll or anything like that.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kcF7E69C6Q

QUOTE(mirocu @ Apr 17 2019, 12:49 PM) Today at work I heard a woman on the radio saying she can't think of a single Easter song. .... - Hold that thought LadyBaby! But I didn't see LadyBeard in this vid, why not? (I heard him singing roaring in the background, though; )
