I know the feeling. The last two days I've woken earlier than usual to the inability to breathe. Going by my coughing it seems I'm waking up with a chest full of mucus. But I couldn't get a doctor's appointment until friday. And in the meantime it's playing merry hell with my asthma.

Meh, I'm somewhat used to the sensation. I've had more asthma attacks than I care to remember, and a chest infection that hospitalised me for 5 days. That was particularly nasty.

Try putting your hands behind your head, it opens up the ribcage, allowing more air in without it needing to be forced in, which would trigger the coughing.

I've often found it helpful.
