Just curious, but why not go with Anniversary or SE?

Good question. Because they are unknowns to me. Skyrim often includes two separate versions of mods: one for LE and the other for SE; sometimes an LE version is not available yet an SE is, and other times LE is available but the mod author didn't bother with SE. This implies there's a difference between each version, right? Or wrong? For sure, I can't just unzip the archives in my Downloads > Skyrim folder to build an SE game, since they're all for LE.

I mean, maybe it's not hard at all to bridge that gap. But I'd rather go with what's familiar. Especially since all my saves are based on LE modifications.

Thanks for question, by the way. cake.gif

There is a difference in the esp format between LE and SE. Most of the time to correct the format it's as simple as opening the eps in the CK and saving it. If the Mod adds NPCs then you may encounter the black-face or grey-face bug as I did when I ported the LE Silverlight armor mod to SE. In that case you would have to regenerate the facegen of the mod's NPCs.

I have never upgraded from LE to SE because I would have to convert every mod I have to the new SE format. It is not just the .esp files you have to convert, but the model and texture files too. I have way to many mods to waste time on that.

Besides, SE does not really add anything I want.

MM hmm, that was my feeling: going from LE to SE is more than just a few simple changes. NOTHING in Skyrim is simple!

I just found the LE at a site called CD Keys. "Code is delivered to you digitally" the site promises.

Get your instant download with CDKeys.com

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition includes:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dragonborn

Steam is mentioned on the page as a 'platform' but not in the Requirements section. So I am unclear whether or not Steam is needed. But heck, it's only $7.29. I'll give it a try, later at home.

As I understand it, that is the only way to buy LE this days. Wow, that is dirt cheap! Tell us how works out. If you can play it without Steam, then I might buy a copy from there too.

But it looks like you have to download the game itself from Steam. It explains how under the Activation tab. So my guess is that you need to have Steam in order to play it as well.

Ugh.

Well I've got the game itself on the Anthology disc. Hopefully I can install it from disc, and then use CDKeys to activate it. We'll find out soon enough.

EDIt: Steam is needed for activation. rolleyes.gif Well that sucks. Haven't tried installing from disc, but that's just going to lead to Steam as well.

Maybe though, once I install the game I won't need to put it into Steam's folder path. But I'll still need to install Steam. Anyway, I'll let y'all know.

Yeah, there is no reason for the CDKey thing, I'm out 8 bucks! ... Well, it's $7.29, which is cheaper than the LE version of Skyrim I found at Steam earlier today. If I'd never bought Skyrim before CDKey's offer, $7.29 would've been a bargain.

But overall I'm still out $7.29 bucks, because I could've gotten the game from my disc. And I still needed to install within Steam's bloatware mess of folders. The whole point of the CDKeys site was to build my own folder structure. That's it.

Save your money, Rosa.
