Chorrol.com _ Acadian _ Buffy's Basket of Potpourri

Posted by: Acadian Feb 4 2011, 01:38 PM

Welcome to Buffy's Basket of Potpourri! This thread is intended as a collection of musings, articles, screenshots, short stories and other fun things that don't necessarily form a part of Buffy's neverending story.

Both Buffy and Acadian are also quite happy to answer questions relating to anything about the bowgirl, her game, character, story or life in Tamriel. This is the closest Buffy will ever get to a blog or web site of her own. Please drop in anytime for a goblet of Tamika's (Buffy's fave), cup of apple berry juice (Angel's recipe) or even a warm mug of mulled cider. Comments and questions are warmly welcomed and appreciated. happy.gif

Buffy is a Bosmeri adventuress. Orphaned by the age of twelve, the citizens of Bravil raised her. She is active with her guild of mages, skilled with bow and magic and a graduate of the Arcane University. Her birthday is Rains Hand, the 19th, 3E 415 under the sign of the Mage. She loves Tamika's wine, waterfalls, her precious mare Superian, and visiting her many friends throughout Tamriel.

She travels intertwined with the spirit of an old ethereal paladin named Acadian who sometimes offers advice. Sometimes she listens. Acadian was a sky warrior, and is older than Nirn itself.

Buffy and Acadian are inseparable, and freely cross planes between worlds together. Although Buffy considers Acadian a guide or mentor, it is unclear who learns more from whom.

Breaking Boundaries, Breaking Rules

My name is Acadian. I have the honor or traveling with the young mystic archer from Bravil. If you detect a sense of intensity in Buffy about her craft, it is not by chance. Three decades of my life were spent as a paladin serving the Noble Order of the Eagle Globe and Anchor. The Order trained me as a sky warrior.

I identify with the bowgirl in several ways. I know the feeling of invincibility while hiding in the sun, scanning for long range targets using detect life systems. I can appreciate Buffy's exhilaration, deadly skill and voracious devotion to her craft. I understand her mindset as a predator who fears and respects her prey. I know well her need for speed, satisfied by the majestic power and beauty of a steed called Superian - or Phantom in my case.

Buffy and I share darker things. Nightmares of being charged by an armored axe-wielding orc, or starring down the intakes of a hostile jet closing at the speed of sound, commencing a deadly aerial dance. Fear of being detected - whether by the stealth ellipse that turns bright, or the blood chilling warning tone of being locked by an enemy missile system.

I found that Marine snipers, in their own way, seemed to share that same odd mentality of lethality and vulnerability. It seems Buffy lives there too. I attribute my survival not to quick reflexes, but to the philosophy that Boderi Farano shared with Buffy during Episode 43 of her journal:

Boderi dropped her chin toward her chest for emphasis as she enunciated, "Precisely." She then looked into my eyes and continued, "You need to anticipate challenges and determine solutions to them before they ever present themselves. Very few of us can come up with an ideal solution in the span of a few heartbeats," she paused to chuckle softly, "and you, my butterfly dragon, are not one of those few. When you are fighting to protect someone, or you have your horse nearby, you cannot disappear and think. That thinking must be done in advance. If you can imagine a fight, you can control its outcome before it ever occurs."

It was easy for Boderi to teach that lesson, for I gave it many times to young Marine aviators.

I had the honor to hold the reins of many steeds for thousands of hours, but Phantom holds a special place. She could not match the nimble maneuverability of her foes in a close range fight. Bringing her aboard the carrier required a precise anticipation of her response time. Although the beautifully sleek gray fuselage could be hidden in the sun, her characteristic twin trails of black smoke sometimes frustrated the effort. Her internal load of 25,000 pounds of JP-5 could last well over an hour, or be guzzled to flameout in a mere eight minutes of full afterburner. Yes, she was vulnerable.

But she was also a hunter, and beautifully elegant in her lethality. Phantom was an interceptor, not a dogfighter. Her long range detection and weapon systems were deadly. She was at her best as a sniper.

And by Mara, she was fast.

When asked, she would willingly accelerate to over twice the speed of sound, leaving behind fire, smoke and even the screaming thunder of her twin J-79s.

In less than a minute she could gain four miles of altitude, or devour twenty miles of ground beneath her mighty wings.

In the right hands, she could locate, run down and destroy any foe.

There came a time when my service to the Order was no longer required. I was free to fall in love with a cloud and reflect upon what it felt like to touch the sun. If I could break the barrier of sound itself, could I not break the barriers between reality and fantasy, flesh and pixels, the simple mind of a man and the inscrutable mind of a woman? Could Phantom . . . carry me to Tamriel?

Amazing insight into one who is rapidly becoming my favorite author with every chapter of 'Buffy' that I read.

When I read this line...

Three decades of my life were spent as a paladin serving the Noble Order of the Eagle Globe and Anchor. The Order trained me as a sky warrior.

...I grinned and thought Marine Aviator. Military aviation has always been an interest of mine. From building models as a kid to watching 'Wings' on the Discovery Channel as an adult. It is awesome that you were a Phantom driver. She was a stallwart workhorse of her time. The most awesome part is that you were able to do this, and you are obviously passionate about it, in service to this great country of ours. We can never thank you enough for that. If I were a Marine, I would say 'Semper Fi', but since I never have been, I will just extend a personal thanks for guarding the walls.

Thank you, Acadian. goodjob.gif

Ditto!

Amazing background, Acadian! I remember the first time I saw an F-15 leave the hanger and in 25 foot shoot straight upward into the sky, the afterburners flaming...and deafening! It was thrilling to watch, can only imagine what flying a power like that would be!

I see this thread becoming an underground hot spot!!!

Posted by: Thomas Kaira Feb 5 2011, 11:33 PM

Ah, yes, the F-4u Phantom... one of the finest 'Nam era fighter jets in the skies. Probably not nearly as hard to fly as the U-2 spy plane (and considerably scarier to get spotted in one of those), but nevertheless, I have a healthy respect for the people who piloted them. If only you got the chance to pilot an SR-71 Blackbird, though, THAT would have been a trip! biggrin.gif

Thank you for your service in that war, Acadian. Though I (and many others) disagree with the reason we were there, that is not your fault. It is always an honor to serve your country, even in a war we had no place in to begin with. Thank you for your courage and sacrifice. Oorah! salute.gif

Taken very literally, this is quite true! (The first Elder Scrolls game, which gave birth to Nirn, came out in 1994. Vietnam occured in the mid 60s through early 70s.)

I was delighted when Dagail gave Buffy Manduin's medallion, but ‘Buffy's Basket of Potpourri’ is even better. I know I will drop by often with my mug of mulled cider. smile.gif

Switching gears...I have a question about Buffy's world. What mods might you be using for immersion. I have a few mods installed for this. Real Hunger, Real Sleep Extended (which offers a portable bedroll), The Cyrodiil Transportation Network, to name a few. I do not have OOO, MMM, FCOM, or any other major game changing mods installed, nor am I in any hurry to install them. The largest mod I do have would be Cobl with the Cobl Races added. Better Cities is one I have considered, but I am starting to ramble...

What mods would you suggest to get me more immersed in Talendor's Nirn?

PS - No Wryebash or BAIN either...I am using OBMM and I have the latest OBSE

Posted by: Acadian Feb 7 2011, 11:45 PM

My goodness, thank you to the kind reception to the thread and to our short story relating some of my experience to Buffy's. My intent with the story was to bring depth to some of the thinking that the bowgirl and I share, and to highlight our ability to cross boundaries together and live in each others worlds.

I hope I have not implied credentials that I do not hold. My time as a Marine pilot was from 1975 - 2005. Although I have indeed stared down hostile intakes and been locked by enemy missile systems, I did not do so over Vietnam.

The Marine Corps flew Phantoms well into the 1980's as they gradually transitioned to Hornets. VMFAT-101 trained our last 'Phantom Phlyers' in 1987. The RF-4 reconnaissance versions remained in service into the early 1990's. Long before that happened, I had transitioned from F-4's to other aircraft. Phantom will always hold a special place for me though, as I hope you can tell.

While many of my contemporaries went on to fly the F/A-18, my path was different. I made a rather radical transition to helicopter gunships, where I spent much of the rest of my career. When asked to compare jets and helicopters, I am fond of saying that jets are neat; helicopters are fun. I chose to highlight Phantom here because she relates so much more to Buffy. The bowgirl would find gunships entirely too 'up close and personal' for her sensibilities - too much like Mazoga's style of fighting.

Rick, thanks for your question on mods for immersion. We don't use any that force behavior. Buffy is real good about when she needs to eat, drink, sleep etc. The very short answer to your question is three mods: Portable Campsite, Saddlebags, Voice Set.

Portable campsite and saddlebags let Buffy travel realistically and help her to live on the road or off the land. She stops and camps when it gets dark or she gets tired. The saddlebags help to organize her inventory and compensate for her low strength. The voice set mod really helps bring her to life. It isn't so much the wonderful phrases that she says as it is giving her a clear and distinct real voice. Whatever I imagine she might say, I know exactly how it sounds.

Below, let me post a more detailed response from another thread that I know you have seen - I make it available in case others may be interested. I'll then follow that with a list of our mods.

* * Acadian quote from Bethesda forums:

Although I have sometimes in the past 'become' my characters, such is not the case with my current character. Rather I travel with her as a spirit that flows within and around her. Therefore it seems perfectly natural to change views between first and third person rather frequently.

I don't really make any rules for my character; rather, I get to know her. Over time, she has developed her own set of rules. She does indeed get tired, hungry, thirsty, injured, dirty and experiences the full range of elven emotions and bodily functions. She tends to those things as she needs to without any prompting from me and, in fact they occupy a fair amount of her time. She even feeds her horse.

I have never known her to 'wait' to heal. She is quite accomplished and comfortable with restoration. She is an empathic healer and can only heal by laying on of hands. By doing so however, she can assess wounds, diagnose and even determine some of what is in the heart of her patient. She must accept some of the pain from her patients to heal them however. She is also rather adept with alchemy.

Speaking of alchemy, she carries quite a precise collection of food and drink with her. One of her favorite drinks is appleberry juice made from Angel's recipe (apple + blueberry). She labels vials of the juice by name. Similarly, she labels restore fatigue potions 'Water' to simulate the content of the goatskin water bags she carries. She probably goes through about ten vials of water daily. Her hair conditioner contains just a touch of ectoplasm, along with some rosemary oil and aloe vera for conditioning, glow dust for shine, and some finely ground bergamot for a nice citrus scent.

Every rider for the Black Horse Courier has a name, as do most of the foresters and many of the Legion Riders she encounters in her extensive travels.

She does not use magic to travel, but does use magic to teleport her horse to her side within her game. It is an imaginary magic she learned called 'The Call of Corsair'. It can be accomplished in the game by fast traveling to her current location (which effectively summons your horse) or using the command console (moveto player).

We do occasionally use fast travel, but it is done as an administrative task like saving, exiting or starting the gameplay session. Having walked or ridden every inch of Cyrodiil during her very very long career, we have no problems focusing our time together on something we want to do. While we travel the roads and overland extensively, we have no problem at all sometimes simulating an uneventful trip, or more often, just a portion of that trip.

Although we do use mods, our list is not extensive. In fact the mods we find most helpful for roleplay are a set of portable camping gear and saddlebags for her precious black mare, Superian.

* * List of Buffy's mods:

-Utility: OBMM, UOPs, OBSE, Pluggy, Wrye Bash
-Cosmetic: Cosmetic Compilation Revised (CCR-EE), Biu's Adventurous Body (BAB)
-Clothes/Armor: BABarized Brash Leather Armors, BAB Fancy Shirt, Luchaires Neck Seam Concealer
-Misc: Dark UId DarN, Unlimited Rings, Dude Where's my Horse, Lady Deadlocks Love Your Horse, Voice Set (Innocent), Spells be Effective, Chase Camera Mod, Short Grass, Disenchant Spell, Actors in Charge, OSR Poses 1, 2, 3 w/translation, See You Sleep (with portable campsite patch)
-Companions: Slofs Summonable Epona, Slofs Oblivion Horses
-Items: Bag of Holding, Portable Campsite, Simple Saddlebags

I will say that I am a fan of the command console. For example, when Buffy says Superian is the fastest horse in Cyrodiil, she's not kidding as we have used the console to change the mare's speed. Similarly, when Buffy wants to bring Superian into a city or even a fort or ruin, we use the command console (moveto player). Buffy would be devastated if some of her friends perished; thanks to the command console, such dear friends who go into harm's way such as Mazoga are essential. I will generally use the command console over a mod when it can do the job.

*

Now, as Buffy will often say as she enters a city, "Well, looks like we're not out of the woods yet. Oh wait. . . we are!" Or as she sometimes says on a beautiful night, "Oooh! Look at the stars!" tongue.gif

In that case, allow me to recommend http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16360 You're new PC is plenty powerful enough for it, so we might as well put some of that muscle to good use! wink.gif

I myself use a number of immersion enhancing mods, such as:

-Real Hunger COBL (which allows me to eat mod-added food to satisfy my cravings)
-FF Real Thirst, with COBL support so I can get water from some mod-added wells. It even comes with its own buyable campsite, as well as the ability to place your own wells! biggrin.gif
-Real Sleep Extended, this one in particular allows me to pick up and carry bedrolls around. Great for when I need to "rough it" in the wilderness.
-All Natural, in specific the darker nights option. It's set up for my nights to be 80% darker than in vanilla. Now I REALLY need those torches I carry around everywhere.
-Enhanced Economy, which makes it much more believable to deal with merchants, as they now have limited money to buy my treasures.

Ands that's just a skim over my own load order (which I will not post here because it is just too big)!

Thanks Thomas! I bet that info will be of help to Rick also. I appreciate you jumping in since I'm quite the novice with mods. Once we complete Buffy's Book 1, I expect we'll take a good break during which time I hope to learn so much more about Wrye Bash and Bain and get smarter at installing/managing mods. I'll probably be asking for some help from you then. I also hope to get Kvatch Rebuilt installed during that break. Then eventually, we'll begin turning Book 2 from concept to prose. smile.gif

You know, I'm actually thinking of starting a mod questions thread here in these forums. I'm definitely no expert, but when it comes to actually using and installing the buggers, I've got some decent experience that I'm more than willing to share. Enough to give me a respectable voice over at BGS, at least. cool.gif

I think its a great idea too! You certainly have the expertise. Like I said, I'll be looking to hone up some probably mid to late summer. I'm glad you put that WB link on here. I'll need it later!

Heh, you can answer all those hard questions, so Buffy can worry about things like hair conditioner recipes, singing, how to poison ghosts and the new dance routine she's working on for the Mages Guild talent contest. tongue.gif

Dear Ask Buffy;

These Oblivion worlds are wreaking havoc on my hair and fur. Would you know a good hair conditioner recipe I can use to put the softness back in?

Your friend, Maxical.

*

Posted by: Acadian Feb 8 2011, 06:26 PM

From Buffy's quill:

Oh, Maxical, what a beautiful picture! Your hair looks beautiful, and what a lovely color!

I bet that a nice ring enchanted with resist fire will help keep the dry blasting heat of the Deadlands from playing quite so much havoc with your hair and fur.

Well, Ardaline and I use the same recipe for our conditioner. The base is equal parts rosemary oil and aloe vera. Then drop in just a tiny glob of ectoplasm (yes, I know it sounds horrible but you don't have to tell anyone). Those ingredients really provide the conditioning and will help put the moisture back into your hair. Then add to your mortar a pinch of glow dust for shine. Finally, sprinkle in just enough finely ground bergamot to give the mixture a nice citrus scent. Then just grind it all up with your pestle and pour it into a pretty pink vial!

Oh, and it works best if you comb it into your wet hair after you shampoo. You don't have to use very much at all, then just leave it in so your hair can absorb it. Like I said though, don't use too much or it will make your hair go kind of flat and oily. I'm honestly not exactly sure about your fur. Perhaps you could try rubbing just a tiny bit of the conditioner all over you and see it that helps your fur? Hee! Try some on your cute little whiskers and let me know if it makes them soft too!

If you don't gather your own ingredients, most any alchemy shop or guild alchemist carries what you need to make it.

I hope that helps! Hugs,

Buffy

Dear Buffy:

Your latest adventure was quite an out of this world experience! (*groan*) It sure makes my latest adventures seem horribly mainstream, knowing there are people out there visiting Oblivion just to learn how to live there.

I was wondering, how do you feel about what you have learned during your extended stay in Peryite's hunting field? What was it like to hunt as dangerous a game as Clannfear and Daedroth?

Finally, you have become a hunter to rival Hircine in that chapter, what do you think will happen come the next Bloodmoon?

Regards,

Thomas Kaira, AKA Derelas

Posted by: Acadian Feb 8 2011, 11:17 PM

From Buffy's quill:

Dear Thomas,

How do I feel about what I learned in Peryite's realm? Well, a little overwhelmed actually, but I'm glad now that Acadian and I kept slogging along shrine after shrine - despite our discouragement and sometimes disagreements - until we found Peryite. I learned what I had been seeking. I'll also be happy if it's a long time before I ever see another Daedric shrine!

You know the reason I went in there was to learn more about Oblivion. I have come to believe that no one will help Savlian close that gate unless I do. Ungarion told me it was a sigil stone that keeps the thing open, and I'm willing to bet it'll be guarded by plenty of Daedra. I figured I needed to learn how to fight and survive on their turf, and Peryite helped me to do that.

Fighting Daedra is still very frightening, but I have learned that they are simply dangerous enemies, much like other foes, replete with strengths and weaknesses. I know now that when I face them, I will not freeze up or pee my greaves. I will do whatever I have to in order to get to that sigil stone that holds open the gate at Kvatch. And I'm hoping what I have learned will make my nightmares about clannfears stop.

I have read about Hircine in books at the Mystic Archives. Here is really all I know: 'Hircine is the Daedric prince whose sphere is the Hunt, the Sport of Daedra, the Great Game, the Chase, and is known as the Huntsman and the Father of Manbeasts.' I'm a hunter, but when it comes to creatures, I'm not fond of hunting them for sport or game or chase as Hircine seems to fancy. Maybe by 'manbeasts', he means minotaurs? I've heard of them and seen drawings, but have not encountered one. I thought that he might be able to help me learn how to hunt Daedra, and I know his shrine is north of Bravil. But when I visited it, he would not talk to me. His followers told me to come back when I was older. I don't believe I need his help now though, since Peryite helped me.

Oh, and I'm sorry I don't know what a Bloodmoon is. I have not heard of that before. I know there is lots I still don't know.

I'm still recovering from being fluffed up by Maxical's hair conditioner escapade! ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

Ghastley, we surely appreciate the offer, but the dance routine Buffy is working on is fully clothed. SubRosa is right about those waterfalls though. As the song goes 'Tequila Water makes her clothes fall off'.

Rick, how true about Buffy's name! Here's what she had to say about it in her story:
"Perhaps it's because I'm a wood elf." I shrugged. "Mother told me that from a very young age, she and Father had trouble keeping clothes on me. She teased that even my name came from the fact I was always running around 'in the buff'. This was especially true around water. Why, I was almost twelve before the red-faced protests of my archery master finally convinced me not to drop my clothes beside every stream to play in the water. I'm more discreet now I suppose, but I still find that waterfalls tend to make my clothes fall off."

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot405.jpg

Now, speaking of dance routines and escapades, we discovered how dangerous it can be to get Maxical and Buffy together. The two of them worked out the first very rough version of Buffy's dance routine. I'm sure you will note Maxical as the redhead on the left and Buffy as the short one with extra bling. Oh, and the business with their hands up is the two of them poking fun at their own ears:

Another noteworthy mod you might consider come this summer (or whenever you plan on): http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35393

What it does:

-Reprices soul gems as they are filled.

-Allows you to continue filling soul gems that are partially filled until they are maxed. No more worries about that Grand soul gem being ruined by that pesky mudcrab's petty soul!

That second feature alone is what sold the mod for me. smile.gif

Hi Zerker! Thanks for liking the first cut of Buffy's dance vid. She will meet some ladies who will not only appreciate the idea, but help her transform it into a production worthy of a storyline in her journal in the distant future. tongue.gif

Acadian can survive for short periods in the ethereal form of his ice dragon, Phantom. For more than a few days on Nirn though, he needs a living 'host'. He was quite chagrined when he and Phantom swooped into that Imperial Prison to find himself in the swirling mess that was the mind of young Buffy. He wrestled with his disappointment that she was not a big strapping knight or ranger as he would have preferred and was much more used to.

After a life spent serving his Order though, he understands what commitment means and was determined to mold this fragile little elf into something usable. He has indeed influenced her heavily by infusing her with the spirit of a dragon and the ability to heal by laying on of hands.

It is however, perhaps she who has had the more profound influence. Buffy has shown Acadian what it means to be vulnerable, and the compromises thus required to survive. He sees in her the spirit of a late lost love and a granddaughter never had. Does he find the little blond Bravilian chatterbox annoying?

Never. happy.gif

Now I need your opinion on something. My sister, Maelona's birthday is coming up. I want to get her some jewellry or something. If you've met her, whay do you think would look nice on her?

** I would get her a charm bracelet with seven charms on it - each with a day of the week written on it and shaped like different UNDERPANTS !!! (Just kidding).

Your sister is nice, and she really loves you. Buffy and I don't have any siblings (that we know of).

Couldn't help but giggle at the underpants comment smile.gif

Yeah, I know she does, which is why it's so hard to buy something to show how much I love her.

Sorry to hear about your sibling free-ness, but sometimes good friends are better than siblings, as you can choose your friends wink.gif

From Buffy's quill:

Hi, ladies. Sorry I'm late. Well met, Lissa!

I think you want a gift that really 'speaks' to your sister and says something important to her. As Maxical said, Mazoga, after seeing me sitting around the lodge writing in my journal, gave me a beautifully leather bound new one with my name emblazoned on it - because she knew I would need it. I gave her an enchanted dagger to augment her unenchanted sword because I had seen how much trouble she had fighting a will-o-the-wisp.

I bet I know what Maelona would like! You simply must get Angel's recipe for appleberry juice. If Angel is not home at Dinstel Manor in Anvil, then Carahil at the guild has the recipe too. Anyway, my suggestion is to surprise Maelona with a breakfast of appleberry juice and sweet rolls, and give her a locket with a likeness of her beautiful little sister inside. I'm sure Norbert Lelles has a selection of fine lockets and I'll bet Astia Inventius would paint you a beautiful tiny portrait to place inside it!

Of course, Maxical's idea about the underpants charm bracelet is a great one too! laugh.gif

Thank you for some wonderful suggestions Buffy. I love the idea of the locket with the portrait inside. Now I just have to think of a picture to put inside of either just me, me and Maelona, or me, Maelona and mother. Choices, eh? tongue.gif

Also, i've been in Anvil for weeks now and I would like to move on to Bravil, mainly to purchase a simple Starlight spell.
Any suggestions for things to do/visit while im in Bravil?

Derelas:

Having just arrived in Bravil myself, I find it to be a most fascinating place. I'm hoping I might catch a glimpse of Buffy while I'm there, but since she has such a short attention span, that might be asking too much. Anyways, some things to do?

The Great Chapel of Mara is always worth visiting; I hear it's the only building in the entire city besides the castle to be built entirely of stone. Marz is a renowned healer, so if you get damaged along the way, I'm sure he can heal you impeccably well.

My friend Deetsan over the way of Cheydinhal told me that Kud-Ei is very helpful and friendly, so I would suggest asking her about any of your magical needs. Unfortunately, I can't direct you to anyone else, but I have heard a couple rumors that Delphine Jend is hard at work perfecting a revolutionary spell right here in Bravil! I sure hope it isn't anything too huge, given her reputation. If she goes too far, she could surely set fire to the entire city in the blink of an eye!

The Lucky Old Lady is always worth a visit, too. Why not give her a kiss while you are here? I've heard to do so will bring you luck.

Also, I'd suggest not wearing your best shoes while you are here, the streets are a little... mucky.

Unfortunately, I'm just visiting, and not under the best circumstances, so that's all I know right now. Hopefully Buffy can fill in the gaps.

With all due respect:

From Buffy's quill:

Well, Dere gave you a pretty good tour of the city. Assuming you'll approach from the north, don't forget to stop at the Faregyl Inn to say hi to Maxical's parents and enjoy some fresh potato bread. Then as you continue south, if you are careful and quiet you might see the unicorn. Oh, and don't forget to stop and play in the waterfalls by Robber's Glenn Cave - you might have to take care of a mean old guardian or two first though. Once you get to Bravil, if you need an inn, stay at Silverhome. It's much nicer than The Ugly Suitor. Oh, and whatever you do, stay away from the castle. Nothing good ever happens there. If you get a chance, don't miss the opportunity to go crabbing on the islands south of the city.

If you have trouble in the city, you can trust Gladius, Gaius and Caccian. I would be a little leery of the other guards though.

I know how spectacular the sunsets at Anvil are, but a sunrise seen from the western shore of Niben Bay is pretty nice! Enjoy your stay!

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

Like i said i only need to go for a simple Starlight spell, but i thought i may aswell enjoy bravill to the max while im there! Also, my Guardian Spirit, Rihanae's, descendant lives in Bravil, and he asked me to take good care of her. All he knows is that she is Female Altmer alchemist, which narrows it down incredibly!

LC x

From Buffy's quill:

Kud-Ei's in charge of the Mages Guild chapter in Bravil. She's the most wonderful illusion instructor! I'm sure she'll be happy to help you.

Oh, I bet that Altmer alchemist you're looking for is probably Ardaline. She's one of my best friends! You can find her at the Bravil Mages Guild also. Here's a http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Cho%20Bk%201/ScreenShot609.jpg of her. She's the blonde. Oh, well, I mean the tall one.

I said 'probably' Ardaline because Aryarie is also an Altmer and knows quite a bit about alchemy. I mean, technically she's a nightblade, but sometimes she works the alchemy storefront for the guild when Ardaline's not there.

Buffy

Ardaline? it's quite annoying that Rihanae has no idea what his descendant actually looks like! He told me that once i'm close to his descendant he will be able to 'feel the familial bond', so i will talk to her and see if this is his descendant. I hope she's not to tall, im quite short! haha

I will also talk to Kud-Ei, thank you for pointing me in her direction!

Maelona suggested i join the mages guild to learn more about magic, as i have basic skills in illusion, restoration and alchemy, but i don't want to waste their time. anyway, i'm too busy working at the fighters guild in Anvil (By the way have you met Azzan? the head of the Anvil fighters guild? He's just a bit hot!)

** Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to visit here as much as I would like to, but I will be back when my "friend" mALX fixes my magic Ayleid communication device for me.

Posted by: Acadian Mar 16 2011, 01:40 AM

I think, Lissa, you will find Ardaline is pretty tall, as you can see in that picture. I sure wish I was taller. I mean, Daenlin says I should feel lucky that I'm a small target, but I still wish I was all statuesque and elegant like Aradline. Oh well.

Azzan? Oh, I met him once. I was wandering back to the mages guild with my head probably off in some grassy field with Superian. When I opened the door I got very confused. Instead of Carahil, I saw a big Redguard in heavy armor. He said, "I like what I see!" Well, after turning the color of a strawberry, I mumbled something about the wrong guild and quickly left. Not before I noticed that you're right though - he was awfully handsome and had a very nice smile. Don't laugh. The two guilds are side by side. Anyone could make that mistake I bet. embarrased.gif

Maxical! I've missed you so much! Delphine is worried sick about you to the point of sputtering sparks. You simply must get your Ayleid quill thingy fixed and pass a note to one of the Black Horse sisters for the Bravil guild.

@Buffy - I've done that too, wandered into the wrong guild in Anvil! I didn't mean to eavesdrop, Buffy, but I am off to Bravil next for a recommendation, and to see if someone named Henantier can unscramble my brains. It's good to know that Kud-Ei is who I need to seek out. I am judging by the name that Kud-Ei is an Argonian. I hope that he or she is nicer than Teekeeus!

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one to have that 'eeep!' moment at Anvil. Better than a morning walk of shame to breakfast after a night at the Skingrad guild though! I had to threaten to turn Vigge into a chicken! I don't mean to sound unkind about Vigge, but he does sort of look like an 'anti-Azzan' doesn't he? I mean just between us girls? Too many sweet rolls perhaps.

Oh, Talendor, welcome brother Bosmer! Hug_emoticon.gif Teekeus is kind of cranky sometimes all right, but don't worry, he doesn't stay mad long. Kud-Ei is very wise and kind. She'll do anything for her mages. Oh, you have scrambled brains too? What color is your hair (just askin')? Dagail helped me unscramble mine - brains, not hair that is. If you need help with your hair in Bravil, Delphine is pretty good and so is Ardaline.

Anvil is beautiful, Lissa! I hope you're not disappointed when you visit my humble city. Say hi to my friend Sinderion while you're in Skingrad.

Oh, Maxical, you are so right. Lots of the people in Bravil are wonderful. You should just hear Delphine go on about her friend, the Khajiit with white fur. She adores you! Oh, that reminds me. . . don't use too much of that conditioner! It seems pretty powerful on fur!

** I'm a cat, we kind of have to mate at a certain age. It might be part of being beast species, I don't know. I've heard if we don't, we make a lot of noise and roll around a lot acting obnoxious. Khajiit are only half leopard, so it isn't as bad as a housecat - plus my father was human, so I might not do it, but I'd hate to find out the hard way.

*

Posted by: Acadian Mar 20 2011, 01:56 AM

Hi, Helena and welcome! It's so wonderful to talk to you. Acadian has told me lots about you. I'm a wood elf because my mother was, but my father was a Breton, like you!

Oh, on panicking, I'm afraid I do that a lot. That's why I try so hard to fight unseen from so far away - so I have time to think and plan. When I get surprised up close I easily get flustered and do dumb stuff like cast a demoralize spell on a ghost who, of course ignores it. Ugh. What I have to do to have any hope against surprises is spend lots of time thinking through things that can happen, then calmly decide what the best tactic might be, then practice it over and over until it becomes like a habit. For example, if I lift my bow to block, shielding magic just travels right down my arm into the bow to strengthen it. I've practiced that so much that it just automatically happens. It took seeing a lion kill a soldier before I figured out, then practiced a command creature spell with a radius of effect on it so that when something like that happened again, I was ready. Of course there are drawbacks to some of my automatic responses. If Ardaline sneaks up behind me and frightens me, then 'poof', I disappear without even thinking about it and feel pretty silly.

Lissa, I'm so glad you made it to Bravil! Coming from beautiful Anvil, I'm so glad that you're not disappointed, and find my humble town charming. I love Bravil, but as I'm sure you've heard, not everyone does. How exciting that my friend Ardaline is related to Rihanae! Oh, you have plenty of time for the tournament. Acadian says we won't post the big final day of shooting until the end of May (that's Second Seed for you and me).

Gee, it's wonderful to see so many friends here. I'm going to make up some of Angel's appleberry juice and bake some sweet rolls!

Dear Buffy:

I understand you are a big fan of your Tamika's Vintage Cabernet circa 399, but have you tried it yet in a stew? I hear this recipe is quite popular around the ways of Skingrad.

Ingredients
Beef Top Round: 1lb
Carrots: 2 Each
Celery: 1 Stalk
Onion: 1 Each
Bacon: 2 strips, thick
Olive Oil: splash
Red Wine: 1 small gobletful
Beef Stock: 3 to four small gobletfuls
Flour: 2 spoonfuls
Pearl Onions, cooked*: About 20
Garlic: 2 cloves.
Bay leaf: 1 each
Thyme: To taste
Butter: Three to four spoonfuls.

Preparation
Cut beef into 1 inch cubes.
Cut carrot into rounds, about the thickness of your little finger. Repeat for celery (but don't make it round!).
Peel and cut onion into 1/2 in cubes.
Chop the bacon into fingernail-sized chunks.
Peel and mince the garlic (crush it with the flat end of your knife first, it makes it easier to peel).
Peel and cook the Pearl Onions (leave them whole).
Roll beef cubes in flour to dust them.

Method
*For pearl onions:
1. Saute in half your butter until you can start to see through them.
2. Add a gobletful of beef stock and let simmer for about half an hour.

For stew:
1. Heat olive oil in a large stew pot.
2. Add bacon and cook until fat has melted.
3. Add beef, cook until outside is brown on all sides for all cubes
4. Add carrots, celery, and regular onion, cook until you can almost see through the onion.
5. Add wine, let it reduce until it is almost dry.
6. Add stock, bring to a simmer.
7. add bay leaf, thyme.
8. Cover pot and let sit for two to three hours.
9. When done, add the pearl onions, the rest of your butter, season with salt and pepper, and enjoy. smile.gif

Regards:

TK

Hi Lissa, I have a friend in Anvil who's only twelve, and lives alone in her family's big manor. She's quite a mage protégé, but I know she gets lonely. Her name is Angel Dinstel. Her parents died many years ago, then her older sister, Sarrah, died just a few years ago. Anyway, she says the manor is too big. I sure don't have that problem! My house is tiny, but in truth, Superian's saddlebags are probably more my real home. I'm glad you won't miss the tournament!

TK, Thank you so much for the recipe! How thoughtful of you to know I measure stuff with goblets! It sounds yummy and I think I can find all those ingredients. I wonder if I could substitute venison for the beef? I can get beef, but venison is much more plentiful.

Helena, of course Acadian talks about you! We pretty much have to share everything. I mean I can't even take a pee without dragging him along. Oh, so anyway, he says you're a wonderfully skilled healer. Thank you for the well wishes for the tourney. Just between us, all I want is for Daenlin to win and for me to shoot well enough that he is proud of me. Thank you for your kind words about archers; I wouldn't know how to use any other weapon. Isn't Maxical a hoot? Sometimes I wish I had a tail. Think of all the fun things you could do!

I don't think we've ever met, but I wanted to stop by and say hi since I've heard a lot of you. Sounds as if though the archery competition will be a lot of fun, and if I had more time on my hands I would love to participate. Unfortunately, things are quite busy right now and I won't even be able to watch. I'd like to wish you good luck though.

I spend a lot of time out in the wilderness and in dungeons, and suffice to say a lot of dirt and things stick to my clothes. Do you know any good ways to get them clean? Cotton and leather that is. And another thing, I heard you're a good friend with a couple of orcs, so you wouldn't happen to know how to calm a very angry male orc?

I have a few things that are leather, but lots of things that are buckskin. I imagine the care is similar. Saddle soap works wonders for light cleaning and maintaining. If it is really cucky, then I use soap, water and a brush, dry carefully, then treat with saddle soap. It’s the same way I take care of Superian's tack. If you have any trouble, I would talk to a stable hand.

- Orcs. That can be tricky. When they curl their lip it's hard to tell a snarl from a smile and if you guess wrong it can be big trouble. Since I'm small, I just play all vulnerable with the big males. Orcs are surprisingly noble and if they have any chivalry at all in them, then acting vulnerable can bring it out in them. Use what you have; if you're like me, you surely can't stand toe-to-toe with them. Ultimately though, you'll surely encounter one that won't respond to the soft touch. Sometimes, I just have to paralyze them, step back and open fire with Slayer (my bow). The once a day power that Acadian helped me find called Cobra's Dance is a wonderful orc-stopper.

Lissa, If Angel is not in Anvil, then she is probably doing research at the University. Carahil or the stable hands in Anvil should know where she is. I'm so excited to hear you are happy with Simon! Unfortunately, I have to agree that Anvil is probably much nicer than Kvatch right now. Gosh, I wish I knew my mind when it came to men. Oh well. Someday.

Oooh Maxical, isn't this fun? Thank you so much for keeping me company here and even helping with the mulled cider and stuff! I will vouch that you are not fibbing about your use of a bow. The safest place to stand when you have a bow is directly in front of you! Of course if I was in danger, there would be few things more comforting than having you and your sword between me and my foe. I've heard Alix talk about you! I'm so sorry you're having man probs. Like I said, they befuddle me too. I'm also sorry you're sort of stuck at the Arena. Perhaps if all us girls descended on Owyn and tickled him, he would get annoyed enough to let you out of your contract? Ya think?

** Mulled cider? GAAAAK! I was just drinking sparkling water. I think if anyone tickles Owyn we will see some heads rolling - probably starting with mine. I have to butter him up good if I want to leave the Arena for a while, and it is not easy when I'm always making him mad. I can't leave now, anyway because vampires have attacked the Arena. Owyn would call me a rat abandoning the ship or something.

Hi Maxical, well, with your skills with a bow and my skills with healing, I think we'd make quite the team, haha. And oh dear, that seems to be quite the predicament. Do they know?

Thank you for the compliment, Buffy! I can't tell you how much it means to me.

And you Lissa, thank you also for the kind words. I'd gladly be your bridesmaid, just let me know on the date with enough time so that I can cancel anything I have on that day. And you realise I'll be expecting some of that strawberry sweetcake? It sounds yummy! Perhaps you'd like to stop by the mages guild in Anvil sometime? I'll make a fruit salad and we can chat about girly stuff!

All this talk about guys... embarrased.gif I've never even kissed a guy, properly. I mean, men have come up to be in the taverns and stuff, but I send them off with a demoralize spell every time. I'm not even sure why. Well I am. I miss him dearly sad.gif The worst thing is, talking to Amusei last time I was in the Imperial City, he wasn't sure if Azrael got away or not. Or where they took him if he didn't. I sure hope he's okay. I don't know what I'd do if I never got to see him again.

Oh dear...I shouldn't have started thinking about guys, or rather, Azrael. It always makes me feel spectacularly lonely.
Off to go stuff my face with sweetrolls, I think.

** It's kind of complicated about my marriages. I was promised to Fathis Aren as long as I can remember to pay off the debt my family owed him. He got mad at me and I thought he ended it between us.

Then I met Gils and fell in love. We got married...then Fathis came back. I was still promised to him, so had to marry him when he asked. Gils knew about my promise to Fathis right from the start, he had to honor it even though we were already married. (That is some kind of Dunmer law).

Fathis just found out about my marriage to Gils the day after we were married. We haven't had a chance to talk it out yet because vampires attacked him and now he is missing. I feel about Fathis the same way you do about Azrael, if anything happened to him...I don't know what I'd do.

I'm so sorry about what happened to Azrael, I heard about that. I'm already in up to my ears in debt and promises to Akatosh, so I'll pray to him to protect Azrael for you...I hope it helps. I know that lonely feeling when you think you may not see someone special to you again and don't know what has happened to them.

Hey guys! My fiance Simon and I have set up a sort of private investigator guild where we basically do the jobs that no other guild wants to do. Basically we do odd jobs for people in need, whether its bringing down a corrupt guard or finding a lost spouse. We need to raise money for the wedding so we would like to know if any of you know anybody who needs any odd quests doing. Also, Simon wont be doing physical work, he's more behind the scenes due to his leg injury, so my friend and I will be working, but if you would like to be recruited let me know (however, the majority of the funds will go towards the wedding)

If you need any jobs doing please send us a letter to:

Hi Buffy,

thank you for the swift answers. Though I do not think the orc in question has any chivalry in him, I will try your methods for cleaning clothes and gear.

Most people I meet would do anything to win, but I think I can understand your answer. In theory at the very least. The wanted poster does make things a bit hard. I walked into Skingrad a few days after arriving in Cyrodiil, saw it, and all of sudden guards were chasing me. Is quite amazing how quickly those things get around considering it wasn't long after I left home.

And well, once again I hope you have fun at the competition.

Gee, I can't believe all the danger you're in, Maxical! Being chased around the Imperial City by vampires. Ugh, they give me cramps when they are near. I so hope you can escape the danger.

I'm sorry to hear about Azrael, Helena. I'm not well qualified to talk about men at all. Being an elf, I'm kind of a 'late bloomer'. I did meet an Imperial who I can't stop thinking about though. Problem is, I keep flitting away whenever I see him. How dumb is that? Not to mention I don't even know if he likes me. And even if he did, do I want to fall in love with a human, who measures time in decades instead of centuries?

How exciting about your PI business, Lissa! I'm sorry to hear about poor Simon's leg. If I hear of any jobs, I'll make sure and let you know!

Good luck with that orc, Sa'Quira. Thanks again for the well wishes for the tournament. Daenlin has won for the past seven years! I just hope he wins again. He is such a beautiful old elf and gracious champion! I just want to shoot well enough so that he is proud of me.

I look forward to reading all of this story, and I think I will go back to the beginning because it is very well-written and quite interesting...

Milady Syl - A hearty welcome to you! I thank you so much for reading our humble tale. Buffy insisted on having her own thread for her friends to visit, talk tactics and recipes. Among other things, it serves sort of like the Coffee Shop thread, only for characters. Please pop in at any time and tender the invitation to your little fairie Syl as well. I'm sure Buffy can find a bottle of something from Fellmore if Syl is homesick.

Maxical - By Mara, I hope you get out of there! Oh, and with your fellows as well. Is it fun having two of them? I mean do they fight? Do you have to keep them separated or locked in different rooms or such?

I must tell you that Delphine is quite worried about you. She has asked after you numerous times. I've been fibbing to her and telling her I don't know where you are. I figure as scared as I am for you, worrying poor Delphine would not be wise; she could start sputtering sparks or lighting things on fire just by walking by. If she got too worried, I wouldn't be surprised if she started pooping little ice blocks!

Delphine doesn't mean to, but she can get rather dangerous when distracted. One must stay focused, don't you think? Kud-Ei was just telling me that the other day. . . or maybe it was Ardaline? Oh, did you get that recipe from Lissa? I saw a mudcrab the other day. Speaking of Anvil, no one has seen Angel in ages. Gee Ardaline's eye's are pretty. Can you really make a question mark with your tail? Or maybe an Ayleid symbol of some kind maybe? Carandial was talking about Ayleid stuff just the other day and I said, "Can I ask a dumb question?" He told me, "Better than anyone I know, Buffy." I'm not sure if that's a compliment or if my feelings should be hurt.

It's okay that you told Delphine that, she'll know soon enough anyway so no sense telling her too soon.

Please forgive the lateness of my replication, but I would like to endanger my hearty conflagration for this wonderful thread that you have started. I immediate that there are many of us who wish to repress ourselves in an arena with words instead of swords. It is nice to know that under your auspiciousness, we can.

Allow me to take the time now to tenderize my formal apoplexy to all and sundered for not finishing the recount of my visit to the old family adobe on the occlusion of Saturalia. The reasons behind this are not worth repenting, but know that after several weeks languaging on the road, the fair Mazoga and I did in fact derive to the Rugdumph Estate. There we spent a gluttonous several days in the presence of my devolved family. Burz gro-Khash, head of the Cheydinhal Fighter’s Guild, lent his celerity to the precedings. At one point he took to the knee and proceeded to propagate to my sister Rogbut right there in the dining room. He had the ring and everything! She defused him, of course. Personally I found his behavior to be insensate, to say the least. The nerve of some people! He tried to inseminate that his position in Cheydinhal somehow made him worthy of joining my family! Thankfully Mazoga was there to make sure that all we did was talk. No smashing!

Mazoga sends you her love and wonders when you next plan to betake yourself down here to Leyawiin. After all that she has told me about you I feel that we are already old acquisitives. We keep the fire outside the Lodge burning for you.

I am currently on a contract provided by a man named Umbacano to find some artifacts for him, so if you would prefer the job to be done now rather than later i will send my second in command, Jessie, to do it instead. How you find and retrieve the artifact is up to you! You may send your second, or do it personally. I'm extremely busy with the guild so there is no way I can do it myself. I will try to drop the advance fee myself as I'd love to meet you, but if guild duties make that impossible a friend will drop it off at your address in Anvil. Nobody was home? That sounds strange. My fiance must have been upstairs asleep! haha.
Don't worry about walking into my home, if the door was open to my house/office then someone must have been home... either that or Jessie left the door unlocked again!

Jessie has informed me that she is asking around to find the location of the statue of Azura, and she will send me a message about her process fairly soon!

Well, at the moment im in the Imperial City to see my Aunt Rohssan, but i should be home by this evening/tommorow morning, so if you're still in town Ill pop over to the Arms and say hello!

Don't forget to say hi to my sister, Maelona, by the way. If you explain to her that you are one of my clients she should let you stay in her guest room free of charge with free meals (although i highly reccomend you DON'T eat her cooking!)

Destri: Your letter here was excellent! You wrote in that goofy way Lord Rugdumph talks, and it flows so naturally. In fact, you captured it so well, that I'm convinced you are truly the son of that orcish Lord. And you know, next time I am in the Cheydinhal area, I think I will definitely pay a visit to your father, Lord Rugdumph. He is an interesting person, and I have to wonder if perhaps he is acquainted with the Madgod? His speech seems to fit so well in a Manic fashion--if ever you or your father make it to the Shivering Isles, be sure to stop by Thadon's court, as he would be delighted. tongue.gif

You might know me as another apprentice of the humbling Daenlin. You might have seen me as a courier dropping several packages of arrows to the Archer's Paradox. Oblivion, you might've also seen me as the woodcutter cutting some timber near the Ayleid ruin of Bravil.

But enough of all this introductionary nonsense. I have received word from master Daenlin that the brightest of his pupils are giving advices to those who ask.

Tell me then, fellow Bosmer, what exactly is an imp chip? The master and I shared some on a fine, Sundas noon and I have been delighted to taste such a wonderful snack. The place where I can buy these goods would also be much appreciated.

Dear Buffy,

I am writing to wish you all of the best at the Tournament of Archers. I confess that although I do not generally care for travel, I would enjoy the merchants who no doubt have arrived to grace Bravil’s meadows with their portable pavilions. The perfumers in particular, I have worn the same fragrance for ages! I know nothing about the preparations an archer must make for such an event, but I do hope you might find the time to enjoy the festivities. Perhaps there will be music, and dancing? At the least I hope there will be a goblet of Tamika’s for you.

Warm regards,

Dear Buffy,

So thoughtful of you to make an extra trip to Passwall just to get some Fellmoor red wine for little me. It is much appreciated. If you would like, I can dispatch one of my Seducers to travel to Passwall and speak to Dredhwen about arranging for regular shipments of wine and other accommodations from the Isles to Bravil, so you don't have to make special trips every time I come to visit. For one thing, it would be proper that you should have enough provisions for anyone I might bring as a guest, and for my bodyguards, who will always be in attendance. Can't be too careful, after all.

Oh, and of course, I shall include Fellmoor Spore wine in the request, in case Thadon should like to visit, as my sources have informed me of his intentions to visit from time to time. Not that I am interested in Thadon's affairs, of course. I simply mean to keep an eye on all potential threats to my security, and naturally the Duke of Mania is as much a potential threat to me as anyone else. Surely you understand, and will in no way imagine any other reasons for me considering Thadon's needs...

I do so look forward to my next visit, as the last one was most pleasing. Also, I wish you good luck at your tournament. I will petition the Madgod in your favor, so that you can hope to win.

Warm regards,
Syl, Duchess of Dementia.

Adatoriel, Welcome! It is wonderful to finally meet you and I hope you'll drop by often! I'm so pleased that you are helping Daenlin. He is not getting any younger you know. I'm sure you will learn much from him - he is the best! Imp chips? Well, I'm not really sure what part of the imp they're made from, but they sure are yummy. Part of it depends on the context too. I mean, some folk say things like, "That's a load of imp chips!" implying that another meaning could be the droppings of imps I guess. I get mine from Nilawen's general store. She doesn't exactly know what part of the imps are used for the snack food either, but she assures me it's not their droppings! laugh.gif

Abiene, a warm welcome to you as well! With the tournament in progress, the shopping here in Bravil temporarily rivals that in the Imperial City! I have noticed several of the merchants that have set up tents here sell exotic perfumes. I must confess that I am reluctant to wear perfume. I fear it might conflict with the gentle citrus scent of the hair conditioner that Ardaline and I make. The tourney grounds are filled with wandering minstrels during the day; song and bonfires with dancing are common at night during the event. I'm sure also that there are numerous fancy parties hosted by the small number of wealthy folk who live in Bravil.

Milady Syl, this humble knight is so honored to have an elf of your title visit my simple but friendly tavern! I hope, given your lofty position, will not take offence when I say, it is simply a joy to speak with a lady of my own rather diminutive physical stature. His Lordship Thadon would be most welcome to stop in as well, hopefully coincident with a visit from you. That way your Ladyship could keep an eye on him - for security reasons only of course. Thank you for your well wishes regarding the tournament!

TK, how sweet of you! One can never have too many clothes. Or shoes. Or bits of jewelry. Or friends. Thank you!

Lissa, it's wonderful to hear from you! Good luck with your business. I was delighted to see that Aravi has a contract that you have accepted. By Mara! A party slumber party at your place! You're in Anvil, right? I'm sure Maelona will know exactly where. The tourney is keeping me very busy. I had hoped for a bit of a breather here in Bravil, but there is just so much going on!

Bring wine! Lots and lots of wine!! Haha.
The only thing I need you to bring is a bedroll.
Im so thrilled you can make it!

By the way I need to find a Ring of Intelligence from some where.
Does anyone know where can buy/find/make one?

My dear Buffy--

I am quite thankful to be welcome in your tavern, and I am also glad to catch up with someone of my same small stature. We understand each other in ways others cannot--many have underestimated us because of our build. But many have also discovered the hard way that there resides within our small bodies great strength and the hearts of warriors.

Take care,
Syl, Duchess of Dementia.

Lissa--

My sources tell me that you can enchant rings at the Arcane University. Otherwise, if you are in possession of a certain wizard's tower, there is an altar of enchantment there. If neither of these options work, I'm afraid I cannot help you any further.

I would come to your slumber party, if only it were not such a danger for me to sleep anywhere outside the House of Dementia. Surely you will not take offense, but will understand the necessity for me to avoid any sort of threat to my security.

Take care,
Syl, Duchess of Dementia.

Dear Lissa,

Are you certain there are no boys allowed at your slumber party? As the Duke of Mania, I can assure you I am quite fun at slumber parties--especially slumber parties that involve wine and women. Hehehe...

I highly recommend you change your mind.

Sincerely,
Thadon, Duke of Mania.

Dear Buffy,

Someone--but I can't say who--has informed me that you will be supplying Fellmoor wine at your tavern in Bravil? This is certainly most welcome news, and I would be glad to make my way to Bravil sometime for a visit. I am always eager to meet new people, except when I am not.

I also hear that Syl has been to your establishment? Have I heard correctly, or am I mistaken? I must admit, I am rather surprised that she would make her way to Bravil--she rarely ever leaves her side of the palace. However, I suppose if I were to run into her there, it would not be so bad. She and I have a rather complicated relationship, but I am able to at least tolerate her company. In fact, I can tolerate her company better than you might think. Of course, we're not talking about that...

Also, I'm not sure how you feel about it, but I would really be quite overjoyed if you would allow me to have some greenmote and felldew, and to share it with anyone at the tavern who is interested. I do hope you will at least consider my offer--you might enjoy it, in fact. It truly opens your mind to a world of new possibilities. Or is it a pasture? Well, at any rate, it has grass and possibilities. I can't imagine why anyone would ever turn it down. Of course, I can't imagine much of anything right now...

Well, I have to go. There is so much for me to do, I don't even know where to start. You know how it is. Or perhaps you don't.

Sincerely,
Thadon, Duke of Mania.

Haha! That is pretty funny! But I do need a ring or something. Im trying to progress in conjuration. Or maybe a ring of magicka?

And dearest Thadon. Girls means girls, im sorry. Besides, my fiance wouldnt be too happy with a man sleeping over! Haha tongue.gif

By the way I am also looking to buy a new home. Somewhere smaller than my manor in anvil, but still quite homey. Either Bravil, IC, Lleyawin or Bruma.

Any suggestions?

Dear Lissa,

I must admit, I am disappointed there are no boys allowed at your party, but I suppose I understand. No hard feelings. In fact, my feelings are rather soft and fluffy--which is definitely not hard.

When I think of hard things, I think of stones or bricks. But all those are any good for is building. And what use do I have for building? I already have a home, and I am quite cozy right here in the House of Mania.

So, I suppose it's best I stay here anyway, because there's no point in leaving such a cozy place, or is there?

Sincerely,
Thadon.

Dear Lissa,

Mania is quite nice this time of year. You say you haven't been to the Isles yet? Well then, you simply must come for a visit. Once you get past the door, you will be blown away by the Realm of Madness. Unless, of course, it isn't windy. But that all depends on Sheogorath's disposition, as it is He who controls the weather in the Isles. It is a wondrous world, unless of course you get eaten by a scalon or something. Then it would just be wondrously awful. Avoid scalons, if you can.

If you should decide to visit the Isles, do drop by the House of Mania--after you see the Madgod, of course. I may have something you could help me with. A stolen item that is very precious to me. But we can discuss that in person, should you decide to come.

Sincerely,
Thadon.

Posted by: Lady Syl Apr 17 2011, 07:11 PM

Dear Lissa--

If Thadon has approached you concerning a stolen item he would like you to retrieve for him, I would advise you not to do it. The item in question was taken from him for his own good, and it would be a great disservice to him and to me, should you decide to take him up on his offer (I have it on good authority that he has approached you on this subject, so there is no need to cover for him). I am certain it would be in everyone's best interest that the said item remain out of Thadon's hands. I do hope you will take my advice.

However, should you still decide to come to the Isles, I do have an issue with which I believe you could be of service to me. It is a matter of great importance, and if the Madgod approves of your aid in this matter, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you for considering my advice, as well as my offer. And, in case you need some convincing, perhaps you should also pay a visit to my torture chamber and speak to Herdir. You would be wise to side with me, or your visit to my torture chamber may not be the sort of visit you were hoping for.

Take care,
Syl.

(A Note delivered by a balding man in a black suit, complete with a strange red neck-ruff. He introduces himself as Haskill, Lord Sheogorath's chamberlain.)

Archeress Lissa,

I hear that my little Syl threatened to torture you. I would advise you to ignore her--the Duchess' bark is often worse than her bite. Not always, but with you I'm pretty sure it was not a serious threat.

Too bad that you don't want to pay a visit to my Realm; but you are not mad, so I doubt you would really like it here anyway. Plus, my Gatekeeper would never let you get past the Fringe, so it's probably a good idea to stay in Tamriel.

And I promise you that, from now on, I will make sure Syl and Thadon stop bothering you with their problems. I already have someone on the way to take care of the matter--it's just the result of a lover's quarrel, and it is really between the two of them, and myself. If they try to bother you again, just let me know by whatever means you can think, and I'll handle them for you.

Milady Syl, I heard they use torture where you come from. I once tortured a Khajiit. He was a highwayman who swung an axe at my precious mare, Superian. We got away and could have just kept going, but we didn't. I returned stealthily and shot the highwayman with a poisoned arrow that knocked him down. I watched as he struggled on the ground trying to remove my arrow as the poison made him writhe and cry out in pain. All I could think about was the sick feeling I had when I remembered how close his axe had come to hitting Superian. Had he been a wolf or lion, I would have put him out of his pain with another arrow. I didn't though. I just crouched in my hidden firing position and whispered, "I hope it hurts." After a few minutes, he died. I know I would do the exact same thing again to anyone who tried to hurt Superian. Am I bad?

Heidi, how delightful to have another blonde here! Um, forgive my nosiness, but you have to understand that my cup size is quite near the front of the alphabet if you know what I mean. Do you have any problems if you try to shoot a bow? Can you swim underwater okay or do you keep bobbing to the surface? Does it hurt if you ride a horse at a gallop? I know my friend Sigrid gets mad when men don't look at her eyes when they talk to her.

Milord Thadon, I am honored to hear from you. Milady Syl does indeed visit here, but I fear I cannot share her schedule due to her security concerns. I'm sure a powerful and noble mer of your position fully understands such matters. I must also decline your most gracious offer to share these intoxicants you call greenmote and felldew. I expect my dear friend Nordinor would become concerned about his customer base. I also fear my friend Gladius Maro would not understand; the Legion soldier is a wonderful man, but simply refuses to overlook infractions of the local laws and customs - even though he seems to be in the minority among Bravil guards. I so hope your Lordship can be satisfied by wine and ale type products? Would it help if I brought in some chocolate from Passwall? I have certainly been known to tip a bit too much Tamika's. May I share with you what really intoxicates me? It is the freedom and speed of thundering down a road on the fastest horse in Cyrodiil. Do you have fast horses where you come from?

Serene, Squeeee! How exciting to have you drop in for a visit!

Maxical, Whew! I'm so glad that strawberries and water are ok. I mean, I don't have very many Khajiit friends. I didn't know if I needed to get some milk or something? I know, I'm a silly elf. Oh, one of the tourney judges asked if you were going to enter the event this year. When I told him you were not going to be able to make it, he seemed quite relieved. I wonder what that's about?

Buffy

Posted by: Lady Syl Apr 22 2011, 03:55 AM

Buffy--

Well, to start with, I found your story about your own experience with torture delightful! I would have done similarly, of course. Are you bad, you ask? I would say that you are not bad, but perhaps a little mad? That is only the beginning, I should think. If you wish for the blessing of madness, I am certain you will receive it. Think of what you could become, if you allow madness to envelop you, Buffy! It is wondrous, I can assure you.

Have you ever considered applying for a position as a torturer? Currently that position is filled in the House of Dementia, but I am sure there are plenty of positions available in other places. If you are interested, I will keep you in mind, should some unfortunate event put me on the market for a new torturer...

Well, it was a delight getting to visit, dear. And thank you for looking out for my security so well. I can say that I almost trust you...

With pleasure,
Syl.

****

Dear sweet Buffy,

Ah, quite disappointing that I cannot share the delights of greenmote and felldew on my visits to Cyrodiil. Of course, I will be delighted to have chocolate and wine as a substitute, however. Thank you kindly for the offer.

This Gladius Maro fellow, I think I shall have to watch out for him. Does he like jokes? If I ever run into him, I shall have to tell him some jokes, and hope to keep his disposition toward me up, so that I do not fall under his suspicion. Too bad, really, that he can't overlook such things. He would have a hay day in Mania, hehehe. Unfortunately, there are no longer any horses in Mania, so having a hay day would be rather pointless. There aren't any horses in Dementia, either. I haven't seen a horse in the Isles in a very long time...

Affectionately,
Thadon.

To Buffy,

.. I must've surely looked quite the idiot! Imps chips are droppings from Imps they say.. What a load of Imp chips! *laughs* My thanks for shedding light on that matter, fellow Bosmer! Oh, and I resent that I am not there in Bravil. I hear that the Tournament of Archers has been commenced. I have not spent enough time in Bravil to know deeply of such matters, but I do know that dear Daenlin has such a skill that he wins it everytime. I have heard it from another bowman. Jean-Pierre Lemonds is his name, do you know him? He was once a Champion in the Arena, or so do the old rumours tell.

I've never been the one to believe in rumours, but, Lemonds radiate an .. interesting aura. Calm, concentrated and straight to the point. Like the arrows he uses, yes?

Oh, and is it true that .. You are in touch with colourful characters from various places? Like, the albino Khajiit at the Arena? God's blood, I know that giving advices and answering questions would net you some attention but by Y'ffre Himself!

I never met the Khajiit, but from what I gather when watching her matches.. Let's just say I would dress up as a girl when meeting her in a bad mood! The things she did to that poor man.. and his manhood.. Dear Nine above and the Sixteen Lords below! I had nightmares for weeks!

Well, I must be off. And thank you again for giving the answer for that gastronomical riddle I have encountered in the form of Imp chips. I would be sure to buy some from dear Nilawen if I'm there.

Regards,

Adatoriel.

Oh, I'm sure it would be easy to get that job opening set up. You are the Duchess of Dementia, and I have seen that torturer guy (his name escapes me right now) sneaking off to whisper with some rather shady figures in Crucible at night for about three days now. Conspiracy, maybe? wink.gif

You don't even need to be sure. Like I said, you are the Duchess of Dementia; paranoia is to be expected and praised. Especially with the whole of the Isles out to get you now.

Oh, and if you see Thadon acting a little... weird... please know that I could do nothing to stop him, and that he may have tasted (or devoured) a brownie... or twelve. wacko.gif

You saw Herdir sneaking around in Crucible, you say? Madgod, will no one remain loyal to their Duchess? I will have my Seducers round him up, and I suppose it will now be up to me to get him to admit to his crimes... Well then, I suppose there will now be a position open within the House of Dementia. Such a disappointment--Herdir had been one of my most loyal servants... Well, now I will have no choice but to make an example of him, to teach all of those traitors a lesson!

And Thadon had some of your brownies? Well, that explains a lot. I shall have to show him what I think of that later. Oh, and I would like you to come to the House of Dementia later, TK. I would like to have a word with you--consider yourself summoned.

Take care,

Greetings, Lissa!

It has been a busy day here in the House of Dementia. Someone informed me that Herdir may be guilty of conspiring against me, so I have had to start another inquisition in Crucible, and this time I have to do most of the work myself! I never would have suspected Herdir, as he was always such a loyal servant. If I cannot trust Herdir, whom can I trust? This just keeps getting worse! I hope you are having better luck. Want my advice? Never take a position of power. Once you do, you will become prey for the hunter, and they will smell your blood and come for it at any opportunity they get!

Dear Syl,

I'm real sorry to hear that somebody you trust the most can't be trusted, that sucks! If I ever pluck up the courage to visit the isles I will be more than happy to help you out any way I can to take the workload off you; but only if I can have a replica of that AMAZING dress you have! Haha, only joking. About the dress, not helping!

I really don't plan on getting any form of major power... Yet.

I have been summoned? By the Duchess of Dementia?

Should I be honored or terrified? Or both?

One problem, though, I'm afraid I have no means of transit to the Isles. Unless you can persuade Lord Sheogorath to open a portal for me (he knows where) I'm afraid it will be quite impossible for me to entertain your summons. mellow.gif

Posted by: Lady Syl Apr 29 2011, 04:34 AM

Dear Lissa--

How kind of you to extend your offer of aid. Should you ever come to the Isles, I would be ever grateful for your help. I'm afraid copies of my dress are nearly unattainable, but believe me, I understand your desire to have one. It is the finest dress in my wardrobe, and I absolutely love it. A true work of art, it is.

Well, do take care dear. And your decision to hold off from getting into a position of power is a wise one. Believe me, I can understand the temptation, but hold off for as long as you can--once you accept it, you'll never be able to escape from it. I am both honored and held captive by my position. I would not wish it on anyone...

Fare well,
Syl.

****

Dear TK--

While I understand your predicament, I am sure you can work something out. Lord Sheogorath will not open a portal to His realm unless He feels inclined to do so, but I am sure He would be more than willing, provided I catch Him in the right mood. Whenever you are able to come is fine--I can wait. But I would advise you not to keep me waiting for too long. I have much I would like to discuss with you.

Thadon has been avoiding me since our last encounter. Apparently he wasn't too fond of the discussion I gave him, but I consider it my duty to do whatever it takes to get him on the right track. Surely you understand? If not, we will have even more to discuss, when you make it to the House of Dementia....

Take care,
Syl.

Dear Syl:

I've heard a recent rumor that about half the bricks in your palace chambers contain magical listening and viewing devices. Perhaps you should look into that?

*gasps* Madgod! Could it be? Is there nowhere safe? I must see Lord Sheogorath at once!

Question for Buffy...

Would you consider yourself good, evil, or neutral? Because it's hard to tell since you care for your friends, mentors, etc. very much and reject the Dark Brotherhood, but...torturing a Kahjiit that badly? Really? Kind of extreme, even though he tried to attack Superian.

Question end

Hilarious interactions from Buffy, Kudos Acadian.

Posted by: Acadian May 3 2011, 10:15 PM

Milady Syl, thank you for almost trusting me. Remember that little elves like you and I make small, hard to hit targets. I must humbly decline the offer to come to the Isles or consider the position of torturer. After my experience with Sheogorath at Borderwatch, let's just say, I do not count him among my friends. I trusted that his harmless prank there would be simple fun. I was not prepared for the cruelty or shattered lives I left in my wake as a result of allowing myself to trust him. I cannot forgive myself for Borderwatch, so I cannot forgive Sheogorath either. As far as the position of torturer, I like torture fine, but only against those who threaten me or those I hold dear; then, despite being as little as I am, I tend to go stupid and act like a mama grizzly. I fear that I'm only a hobby torturer for my own sense of vengeance.

Milord Thadon, I'm so sorry that you have no horses in the Isles. Do you perhaps have an orc problem that could be the cause?

Adatoriel, Oh yes, Daenlin and I know Jean-Pierre Lemonds! Besides myself, he is the only one that Daenlin will let run The Archer's Paradox in his absence. The albino Khajiit? Oh what a delight Maxical is! She can't heal or shoot a bow or aim a spell, but she's cute as a button and an amazing swordskitty! And the things she can do with her tail! Like my mare and I, she has big ears, but unlike me, Maxical can move her ears all around in the cutest ways!

DarkZerker, Hmm, am I good, evil or neutral? Yes I am! Acadian's friend SubRosa says I am cuddly like a rattlesnake. Mrs Acadian calls me lethally blond. I figure I'm just a working girl trying to survive in a beautiful but harsh land. I have come to trust and rely on this: The Buffy Doctrine: If you are kind to me, I will love you dearly; if you are a threat to me or my friends, I will likely kill you . When it comes to someone who would hurt one of my dear friends like Superian, no vengeance or violence is too extreme for this little elf. So. . . I guess it depends on whether you are kind to me and my friends?

All - By Mara, I'm so glad that my little tavern is a fun place to meet and chat with other residents of Tamriel (you too, Lady Syl and Lord Thadon). happy.gif

Dear Maxical--

While traveling to Bravil today, I stopped by Faregyl Inn. Every time I pass by now, I always think of you--thought you would like to know. Also, I went in to chat with Alix and S'Jirra, and helped S'Jirra get back some jumbo potatoes that had been stolen from her by a big ogre. She rewarded me kindly with a loaf of her special potato bread. I shall take it back to the Isles with me and have Anya taste it before I try any--can't be too careful, of course.... It smells delicious, though! I do so hope Anya doesn't die after eating any of it, as I am eager to taste it myself!

Take care,
Syl.

*****

Dear Buffy--

I perfectly understand that you do not want to turn your hobby of torturing into a career. It is not something I would want to do on a daily basis (that is why I hire others to do it for me). After all it would become rather tedious and boring, I should think.

Also, I find it interesting that Acadian's friend calls you cuddly like a rattlesnake. SubRosa has a very good wit, it seems. Also, this Mrs. Acadian sounds charming--"lethally blond" sounds like an excellent nickname! Were I blond instead of brunette, I would simply be flattered to have such a nickname. From what I hear, it rightly suits you.

Take care,
Syl.

So I went to Fort Strand, near Anvil looking for my friends Aravi, Vilja, Maxical and Jerric. I guess I missed them by a few days; Acadian thinks it was because I dawdle too much and have a short attention span. I'm sure he's mistaken. I mean, if you find a nirnroot, you have to go see Sinderion right away before it wilts, right? And just because you're in a hurry to go somewhere, doesn't mean you won't encounter a Legion rider who needs to have his horse healed up from a fight. Oh, and well, there was a waterfall along the way and - where was I? Superian and I got chased by a wolf! Isn't Anvil a beautiful place? Oh, yes, Fort Strand - Acadian took some pictures for my scrapbook:

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot873.jpg

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot874.jpg

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot859.jpg - likely marauders like those two outside.

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot860.jpg Hee! Do I sound like Lucien?

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot862.jpg No food - I guess Jerric's been here.

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot863.jpg

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot864.jpg Ooh, I learned that line from Teresa!

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot865.jpg More marauders and a rat.

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot869.jpg See, Maxical? I got up real close to make sure it wasn't Alix!

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot870.jpg

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot871.jpg And to think at one time, you were the stuff of my nightmares. Let's get out of here.

Nice to get that armor off. Superian, do you think I think I need a bath? I saw a mud crab along the beach the other day. I wonder what's for dinner at the guild tonight? Oooh, Acadian- look! if we hurry we can catch the Abecean sunset! Do you know what kind of sound the sun makes when it touches the water? http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot879.jpg . . . .

Posted by: King Coin Aug 16 2011, 03:32 PM

rollinglaugh.gif Can't stay on topic can she?

Talking to Superian is just adorable.

I doubt that soundly sleeping Marauder ever woke.

Aravi doesn't eat anything she finds in dungeons, but I guess Jerric isn't so picky is he?

Buffy got through without a scratch didn't she?!

Brilliant! I'm glad you posted these. I've been champing at the bit to see them!
So what does the the sun sound like when it touches the water? happy.gif

Posted by: haute ecole rider Aug 16 2011, 04:10 PM

Buffy, are you going to turn around and return to shore before that water-walking spell wears off? wink.gif

Somehow I don't think Superian would be too happy to have to swim back, you know.

Posted by: Grits Aug 16 2011, 10:09 PM

Some sass from Superian, how funny! KC said it, those two are adorable together.

Oh no, Jerric didn’t even leave a sliver of cheese and a crumb of bread? tongue.gif I doubt he’s ever passed a bandit’s cook pot without taking a look under the lid.

That’s a great shot into the pit area. I can imagine the swearing that those walls have heard over the years. And, um, more recently. whistling.gif But shaky boards are no problem here.

That long-range life detection makes such a difference. It must let Buffy really plan her path through a ruin, rather than just follow the walls.

Woo hoo, Spike!! I think these are my favorites, especially the one with Buffy on the stairs!!

Need a bath?! She probably didn’t even get sweaty! Still, I hear Anvil’s guild hall has a spectacular if busy bathing chamber. wink.gif

A lovely Abecean sunset. Buffy, what did you add to the water-walk so that you would know before the spell runs out? I would hate to send a horse unexpectedly swimming.

How fun to ride along with Buffy as she makes County Anvil a little safer! happy.gif

ROFL !! Your captions are hilarious !!! I have to admit peeking at these screens on your Photobucket already, LOVED THEM !!! Awesome Post, Acadian !!!

Posted by: Acadian Aug 31 2011, 12:52 AM

Thank you all for the nice comments regarding Buffy’s picture-trek through Fort Strand!

KC - To be honest, Buffy did get the stuffing knocked out of her by a swinging log trap. I was gracious enough not to take a picture of her crying. That's the trouble with navigating in the dark by pink glows; as careful as she is, she can still sometimes miss one of those darn traps. On chasing the sun, Buffy got scared that she might fall off the edge of Nirn and turned us around. embarrased.gif

Rider - One time long ago, her spell did wear off out in the middle of the river and you're right, Superian was not happy! Now she casts a similar spell on herself first because she can tell how long that one has left; when the timing is running low, she hops off onto the water and recasts the spells before the mare can get wet (and mad). Before she had the magic to do all that, she had a tiny 'feather on self’ component on Superian's water walk spell so she could tell how long was left on it and wore a waterwalking ring when riding on the water. She got rid of most of her 'utility' rings as she gained more magic and mostly uses spells instead of rings now. In fact, the only rings she normally carries are a pair of detect life rings, a resist cold ring (for cold weather) and a resist fire ring (for hot places like, well, Julian knows much better than we do).

Grits - Hee! Buffy just loves her mare! We figured by the empty stewpot, that Jerric had recently been through Fort Strand. tongue.gif Yes, that's Buffy’s world - navigating by pink glows. I'm sure Lildereth knows what that's like. It's a long ways into the future of our story before Buffy meets Spike, but how ironic is that? The terror of her nightmare becoming a trusted savior!

mALX – I’m so glad you enjoyed Buffy’s captions!

*

By Mara, we had quite a scare last week. Buffy’s home had the magicka sucked right out of it – probably a will-o-the-wisp attack we figure. Poor puter had to go to the chapel and have new stained glass windows put in. The healers there even added a couple sigil stones that fortify puter’s magicka. Fortunately, all of Buffy’s mystic bits were happily archived in several types of safe storage containers. It took us a week of frustration, wryeing and bashing to get her house rebuilt. I almost cried when my little elf came back up and said, “Well, we’re not out of the woods, yet.” Then she giggled and added, “Oh wait! We are!” happy.gif

pay me and Arcleus a visit there! Maybe we can have a little fun in my private quarters after eh?...... cool.gif

Welcome back, Lissa! How am I doing? Well, I’ve been working on my Journal and writing about all the stuff that happened at Kvatch. Just writing it fills me again with every emotion under the moons and everything just sort of spills out of me. Acadian keeps trying to edit all the juicy bits so they’re not so, um, juicy. I need to have a stern chat with him. Oh, I know all about photo shoots! What wonderful screenshots you provided. After those last three spoilery ones, you look like you could use some of Angel’s apple berry juice!

Dearest TK, I got here as fast as I could. Oh my, that is indeed quite the fashion disaster! Bear in mind that Delphine calls me the elf who wears animal skins, but I think I can help. Clearly, this lovely Dunmer must choose to build from either her skirt or blouse, but certainly not the two of them together. My recommendation is to dump the skirt and build from the blouse. The skirt is entirely to ‘heavy’, dark and formal for such a beautiful daytime stroll. The blouse, on the other hand really sets off her beautiful skin without overly matching it. Oh, and she already has those beautiful green silk slippers! Those are surely keepers! So. . . she just really needs a new skirt. By all means, go for a cream silk with a pale green delicate print. The silk of course just goes with that blouse and slippers. The cream will both contrast with the darker green of her blouse and provide the perfect palette background for the pale green that ties everything together. The resulting outfit would be very much like the one often worn by the beautiful Kud-Ei. And after all, her fashion advisor is none other than the bubbling Bretonic Bravilian fashion diva herself, Delphine Jend.

Riften! Well met, and welcome to my little tavern! Would you like a sweet roll? Maybe some mulled cider? I’m so delighted that you made the trip from the big city. There are so many people over there! And it’s so dark! Can you believe they use black parchment instead of the pretty pale gray we use here? I think you’ll be very happy here. I’m so looking forward to reading of your adventures. How exciting that Raminus has approved a new guild hall! You must be a skilled mage and feel very honored to have been selected to set it up. Forgive me, but I’m not sure who Arcleus is. Is he in the guild? Oh, a visit sounds fun. It’s not cold there, is it? Do you have a heated stable for Superian, or maybe you don’t mind if she comes inside? Do you have Tamikas, sweet rolls and strawberries? Oh, and bread and cheese? Fun in your private quarters? Hee! I know how to summon a scamp and disappear. Is that what you mean? Is Frostcrag near Bruma? Do you know Jeanne Frasoric? She’s fun. I don’t know why everyone picks on her. I mean it’s not like she has blond hair or anything. Oh wait! Do you suppose she dyes it?

Thank you for dropping in friends! Hug_emoticon.gif

Sweet rolls?!?! of course, sweet rolls all around!
Yes, I'm loving it here at Frostcrag Spire. Many of my apprentices have steeds so we have a stable outside the guild hall. Oh, Arcleus is a very good friend of mine, I have been friends with him ever since I was an apprentice, he was my mentor after all! he leads the guild with me. It is actually very warm here, well, at least in the guild hall, I have only visited Frostcrag once or twice, we have fireplaces all over the hall, we have enchanting and spellmaking alters, Alchemy station and garden etc......

And Tamikas? My favourite, we have a crate full of em in the vault.
And fun in my private quaters? Of course! I can teach you some new illusion spells to biggrin.gif

Have you ever wondered what Umbra looks like under the ebony helm seen http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-npc-Umbra.jpg

Years after the events of Kvatch, Buffy learned from residents of Pell Gate that the Bosmeri warrior named Lenwin had been seduced by the foul blade called Umbra. The story tugged at the curious mystic archer’s heart. After some careful research, preparation and planning, she managed to free Lenwin of the cursed blade without injuring the formidable elven warrior. Although Buffy understands that the Daedra Lord Clavicus Vile may have had an interest in the cursed sword, she could care less and fed the foul blade to a lava flow. Good riddance.

Eternally grateful, Lenwin has pledged the service of her new katana and considerable skills to protecting Buffy and traveling with her whenever asked. Buffy’s path is that of bow, illusion and stealth - and best travelled alone. Nevertheless, there may be times in her future when the company of a mighty steel-clad hero will surely be of both need and comfort. For the moment however, Buffy will leave her new friend at Pells Gate. Lenwin's homecoming:

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot917.jpg

Buffy then sought the familiar comfort of Bravil. In the next screenshot, she is enjoying a sunrise return from a two day hunting trip with her archer master. In her eyes, Daenlin will forever be the Champion Archer of Cyrodiil.

From Buffy and Acadian: A joyous Saturalia and warmest wishes for the New Life Festival to all our friends!

* * *
'Twas the night before Saturalia and good smells filled the house.
Stirring the gravy was Alix the Mouse.

Alix’s mistress was cooking the goose,
having promised not to baste with vampire juice.

A faint smiling elf arranged sweet rolls with care,
in hopes for a visit from Raven or Bear.

Tara or Willow – we’re not sure which one,
pulled a pie from the oven and announced it was done.

Even the snow leopard showed no signs of ire,
as curled up with her tail, she purred by the fire.

The couple McWylde and their knights of the round,
stood stoic duty, should trouble be found.

The Redguard’s green eyes inspected each blade and bow,
for old habits die hard, you know.

Suddenly, there arose such a clatter,
that Myrin the Dunmer went to see what was the matter.

Filling the door were the snow-covered feet,
of a big grinning Nord demanding, “When do we eat?”

Preceding the goose, sausage, fish and wine,
everyone joined hands to thank the Nine.

Once all the guests had been very well fed,
they pushed back their chairs and headed for bed.

As the little blond elf dispelled out the light,
she smiled and said, “To all, a good night.”

Thank you so much for coming to my Saturalia party!

Guess what? It snowed last night! The University was beautiful when I woke up and stepped outside this morning. I left little footprints all the way down to the Valley of the Horses as I raced to Equestria to make sure Superian had on her resist frost saddle pad and Therend’s Dwemer heater was working. On the way, this is what I saw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ntUb6FFXfg

I’m glad to report that Superian was wise enough not to play with the big kids!

Happy New Life Festival, my friends!

Hello everyone and Readers of A.B.F!

I just wanted to come on her quickly and apologize for my constant dissapearance within the forums. I have a heavy schedule (as I'm sure most, if not all of you do) and I haven't quite worked out how to work around it, but I will try my very best smile.gif

So on that note, I AM reading your amazing stories and i WILL leave comments to show my appreciation and love for them (mALX I am reading your story, just trying to catch up as best as I can. I hate out of sync comments! haha. I only write this as I notice I haven't commented on it yet smile.gif)

Sooo enough of my rambling! Keep up the good work and hopefully I will be able to keep track of everything once I fix up my schedule! Haha

Tabrasa – Thanks for checking in! I’m so glad to hear your determination to continue with the wonderful story of Tara and Willow, despite the pesky requirements of life beyond fiction. Given that Tara and Buffy have voices in their heads and that we both have an affinity for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I really look forward to your episodes and appreciate your support of my own humble efforts.

Warmest regards and best wishes!

After three years and a thousand hours, we have given Buffy another makeover. Rather than her former five hundred hour ‘tune up’, this one is a complete restart. The reasons are numerous and reflect many lessons learned ranging from the ability to incorporate more advanced textures, to having her live in a world where she has learned not to deforest the nirnroot. Wandering NPCs will not attrite themselves into troll food or bandit fodder over hundreds of hours, and the odd quest that she did off-script will not be done until (and if) her story calls for it. Buffy’s new game currently exceeds two hundred hours of play, and she has grown comfortable enough with her new look that she has agreed to introduce it to friends and readers -

Nip Tuck

Quilling the memoires of Book 1 that comprise my time at Kvatch has been quite emotionally draining. I confess to vanity and self-doubts about my appearance (as my friends well know), but I found myself even snapping at Acadian during what he calls ‘photoshoots’. I can’t tell you how many pictures of myself I have rejected for showing my blotchiness, the little squiggle under my nose or the slight scar and deformity to my fat lips. The lighting and angles had to be perfect and, even then, I would not allow real close-ups. The paladin finally suggested that we travel to LA (Lower Anvil) for what he called a ‘makeover’. When he explained that it might provide just the pick-me-up that I needed, I got quite excited and readily agreed.

Letters to and from the Guildmagister on the Gold Coast assured me that she had coordinated everything. Indeed, Carahil took charge as soon as I arrived, and in we went to the Chapel of Dibella. One of the Priestesses had me drink a potion and lie down. Then I just dreamed of playing in waterfalls and chasing butterflies until I awoke and was led to a large looking glass.

By Kynareth’s wings, I’ll tell you they did a lot more than fix my blotchy complexion!

I’m the same puny height and weight, so friends will still easily be able to toss me around. I remain a satin blonde with blue eyes of course. They didn’t cut my hair, but Carahil took away my ponytail ribbons and showed me several new styles. My ears didn’t turn out any smaller, but they are different - more graceful and with a delicate curve now. They sweep back and out a little bit instead of just being stuck to the sides of my head. I still can’t wiggle them like Superian does. Oh, and no one will ever call me ‘Buffy the Busty’, but I did manage to pick up a couple curves. I’ll admit that I do feel more ‘elven petite’ now instead of just scrawny. Carahil said some of that is natural since she-elves can continue to, um, blossom until nearly thirty years of age.

Then Acadian let me buy a whole new wardrobe! I’m still getting used to the changes, but I think I like them.

I’m very nervous about presenting my new look, but I really am the same elf inside.

I love that outfit with the purple sash! Lildereth remarked that it was to die for. That, um, makes me a little nervous, actually. blink.gif

Love Buffy's new look! She's beautiful! Love the belly chain! laugh.gif

She looks gorgeous in the Roadstokers outfit. Aravi would have worn it except the gloves and boots. Vilja wore it for a while, but it's definitely more suited to an elf than a nord.

Thanks for sharing Buffy's new look!

In celebration of Buffy’s new look, we humbly offer this scene from the Imperial City, where different worlds sometimes brush together:

Jerric waited outside Red Diamond Jewelry, watching folk move through the market. Though he would do without many things rather than trouble himself to shop for them, he loved everything about giving presents.

Lildereth slipped out of the crowd almost directly in front of him. She wore city clothes, but her hair was swept into a hunting braid. Her crooked smile was her greeting. Jerric wondered what she had been up to.

“Thanks for meeting me,” said Jerric. “Where’s Ulfe?”

Lildereth reached up and brushed some crumbs from his doublet. “She’s with Thernd in the Valley of Horses. That girl needs to run. Perhaps Bandit will teach her some manners.” They shared a smile over the thought. “You said you needed help with a gift for Buffy?”

“I already picked it out, I just need you to, uh…”

Lildereth gave him the eyebrow. “Steal it?”

“What? No! I need to you to get us, you know, a discount.” Jerric tipped his head toward the shop. “The fetcher in there likes me less than Phintias does.”

“All right.”

“And also check to make sure I got the size right. A Nord’s ring is a Bosmer’s bracelet.”

Lildereth crossed her arms and looked up at him, waiting.

“And get Darnand to enchant it with a charm of frost resistance,” Jerric admitted.

“Anything else?” Lildereth asked. “Aren’t you going to ask me to take you to lunch?”

“Lunch?” Jerric scoffed. “It’s barely ten bells of the morning watch.” He held the door open for her. “We’ll need to get a snack first.”

A short time later they were back on the street, toe ring in hand. It didn’t look so tiny on Lildereth’s small palm. “You are good at this,” she said.

“I know,” Jerric grinned. “It’s as pretty as an elven lass in the heart of her springtime. As—”

Lildereth cut him off with a combination snort and eyeroll. “Spare me! You Nords all think you’re bards. Let’s go. Anywhere you like. I’m yours until nightfall.”

Jerric tucked her hand through his arm. “Let’s go see the horses.”

Dear friends, thank each of you so much for your insightful and most welcome reception to Buffy’s new look! She would reply, but she’s spinning like a top and dancing pretty joyfully right now in search of a cold waterfall to dip her toes into. . . .

Grits’ beautiful and touching story about Jerric getting Buffy a toe ring made her cry as well. How can such a big gruff Nord who seems to think with his stomach be so lovably wonderful at knowing just what an elf wants? The butterfly, the enchantment, the size – just perfect! She will cherish that ring, as it expands her water play and northern romping much later into the cool season! Thank you, Lildereth, for helping Jerric and letting him know he did well! Grits, thank you for allowing such a thoughtful gift, through the magnificent gift of your magic quill.

Buffy is a very lucky elf to have such friends! happy.gif

We do like that Roadstroker outfit. Not only is it just Buffy’s style, but it actually fits her well. Her makeover required a change from BAB to the HGEC body to support her race mod. We selected smaller cup/hip sizes, reduced her weight in the CS and use EVE to help the vanilla clothes fit. That all said however, some of the HGEC outfits can make Buffy look like a short Sigrid. tongue.gif

Rain’s Hand the 19th

Jerric, Darnand, and Lildereth stood outside a wooden door inside the Mystic Archives. Jerric reached for the doorknob.

“Wait!” whispered Darnand. “We should knock.”

“It’s a surprise,” hissed Jerric. “You don’t knock for a surprise party.”

Lildereth slipped between them and put her back to the door. She spoke on the softest breath. “Are you telling me this is a surprise? This is a bad idea, Jerric.”

“What?”

“Surprising Buffy. We may end up full of arrows.”

“You make a good point,” said Darnand. “The Nord should go in first.”

Jerric stared at him.

“Do not concern yourself,” Darnand said. “I learned how to cure the effects of poison.”

“I’ll pull them out of you,” offered Lildereth. “If I may borrow your knife.”

“Never mind,” said Darnand, his eyes glowing with magicka. “The apartment is empty.”

The three looked at each other.

“I can get us in,” said Lildereth. “But that might be rude.”

“Yeah. Let’s wait for Aravi.” Jerric put down the keg and leaned against the door frame. “If it turns into a party emergency, I’ll just open the ale.”

Lildereth gave him the eyebrow. “You’re not going to drink Buffy’s gift without her.”

Jerric laughed. “That’s not her gift! It’s for… uh, the guests. Anyway, what did you bring her?”

Lildereth lifted her package. “A bottle of Tamika’s 399. For her to enjoy later on some occasion of her choosing. If you wheedle her into opening it tonight, I will kill you.”

Darnand drew a roll of parchment from his sleeve. “I am having second thoughts about what I made for her. This is a warming scroll with an area of effect, but now I am concerned that it might start a fire.”

Jerric plucked the scroll from his hands and passed it to Lildereth. “Yeah, forget it. You can give her half of my present. Just so you know, we got her concert tickets.”

“You changed your mind, then?” asked Lildereth.

“Yeah,” said Jerric. “Anyway, I don’t think she’d let me give her a tattoo.”

A slender Khajiit entered the Mystic Archives, laden with packages. The aroma of sweetrolls came with her. Jerric’s stomach rumbled.

“Aravi!” the three chorused.

“Thank you for coming,” Aravi murmured as she unlocked the door.

“A party? You don’t have to ask me twice.” Jerric pushed it open. “Thank you for organizing us.”

“I will always remember Buffy’s birthday, for it’s also my own. When Buffy heard that I don’t know my date of birth, she immediately offered to share hers with me.”

“How perfectly lovely,” said Lildereth. “That is so Buffy. Here, I’ll help you with the food.” She sent a warning glare at Jerric.

Aravi smiled as she put down her boxes. “I brought extra to distract him. Here,” she handed Jerric a sweetroll, “would you please set up the drinks?”

“I’m on it.”

Aravi inclined her head gracefully at the door. “Darnand, would you please watch for the other guests? It wouldn’t do to have Buffy meet them in the stairway.”

Darnand nodded and headed out the door, magicka shimmering in his wake.

Lildereth let out a gasp as she unpacked Aravi’s boxes. “Ebony arrows! Is this what you got for Buffy? May I see?” She eased one from the quiver at Aravi’s nod. “Flawless, and the perfect draw length. I wish it was my birthday!”

“Now,” said Aravi with one of her soft smiles, “let’s get this party started.”

Happy Birthday Buffy! cake.gif

SQUEEE!!! I nearly peed myself when I walked into my apartment to a surprise party! Then I started crying so I ended up a wet mess anyway. So Jerric, you must be careful around Lildereth; I mean now that she’s seen how you melt at the sight of elven tears. Darnand, your sparkling fireworks and clever wit made for such a festive evening! I’ve read all your published works but can never hope to match your skill. Lildereth, my sister of the forest, I will cherish and save that Tamika’s 399 until I know you, wise Darnand and the mighty hero Jerric have completed your daunting quest. Then the three of you must return to share it in celebration and tinkle goblets with me.

And what a thoughtful gift those concert tickets were! How on Nirn did you all know I love Caramell? She is such a wonderful singer. I bet the Arena will be packed! I’m sorry you all won’t still be in the city when she performs. I think I will take Malan with me – she's quite musical and loves Caramell too.

Aravi, *burp* the sweet rolls were yummy and how thoughtful of you to bring a Nord’s dozen. I so appreciate you making the long journey from so far north. And happy birthday to you as well! I wasn’t expecting you, so I hope you don’t mind that my birthday gifts for you were simply a pouch of triple damage poisons and one of my resist frost enchanted belly chains. I wish I could have gotten you a nice sword, but I wouldn’t have a clue what to look for of course.

By Kynareth’s wings where did you get those magnificent ebony arrows?!? Don’t tell Master Daenlin, but I’ll bet even he could not fletch such arrows! Thank you. Every time Slayer and I loose one into a foe, I will think so very fondly of each of you. Lildereth, I’m so pleased that Aravi and I could talk you into slipping a few of those deadly arrows into your quiver; when the imp chips are down and our magic is cursed, they just might be the thing to save our little elven situpons. Aravi, I understand you refusing to take some for your own quiver – how lucky to live where you can get more of them!

Teresa, I’ve so missed your faint smile! Thank you for bringing more of my favorite wine. That way we could fill Jerric up and still all get to have some. Your hair looked so elegant up off your neck like that and your silken outfit really drew out the emeralds in your eyes.

For each of you, my apartment is yours anytime you find yourself at the University. If I’m not here, just help yourself. I don’t lock it – keys are worthless within a guild of mages.

My tears are those of happiness at my good fortune to have friends such as you. Thank you for such a wonderful day! Hug_emoticon.gif

Thank you again for all the wonderful birthday wishes! I’m so delighted that you popped in Jessika! I hope you feel welcome and come back to enjoy good company, a warm fire, fresh sweet rolls, strawberries, mulled cider or perhaps a goblet of Tamikas.

A Contest!!!

Not too long ago, I was exploring a dungeon and came across someone rather unusual. He was quite friendly and had ears bigger than mine or even Superian’s!

Can you guess the dungeon? I’ll give the first one to get it right a hug.

Acadian and I are also trying to come up with a clever caption for the picture. He’ll pick the best suggestion and the winner gets a kiss from me!

GAAAAH! I missed the Surprise Party, I was stuck in the Palace! URK! What is that thing? I must have slept through that class at the Arcane...ugh, it is ugly but kind of in a cute way. A contest, huh? I sure could use a hug and kiss right now! How about,

The Nord is even less articulate than usual today. Could it be the prospect of a kiss? tongue.gif

The bottle in the goblin's hand is beer or ale. But I suspect the apposite libation is actually "Toadstool Grog".

I remember that goblin when I was exploring north of Chorrol. He was out cold when I found him, I left him be.

A caption? Hmm, maybe "Little elf, might you have some wine to share?"

Ghastley got it right! We encountered the goblin while exploring Toadstool Hollow on a recent trip. Hug_emoticon.gif

We ended up choosing a caption suggested by the potty-minded Mrs Acadian (with a little help from Darnand):

I always listen to music when writing Maxical's memoirs. There are certain songs that kind of go with certain characters, other songs that kind of set the mood for certain scenes.

In honor of Buffy who has inspired so many things, including potions: a very short scene from Chorrol. biggrin.gif

___

Darnand stepped out the back door of the Mages Guild hall. The long, low kitchen stretched off to his right. Rings of flat stones defined the herb and alchemy gardens. This time of year only green shoots poked up through the soil. Within a month the heavy perfume of primrose and nightshade flowers would hang in the air. Today the dominant scents were wood smoke and burned garlic.

Jerric sat on the paving stones where the garden paths came together, hunched over his calcinator. Ulfe sprawled nearby in the mugwort patch, basking in the sun. Her tail thumped the dirt in greeting as Darnand approached them.

“I figured it out,” Jerric announced without looking up. “Thanks for the loan.”

Darnand took in the scene. A basket of potatoes rested on the ground beside a glass jar of sacred lotus seeds. Steel-blue entoloma caps soaked in a pottery bowl. A bucket contained the burned remains of something. Jerric’s alchemy apparatus occupied the ground between his splayed and outstretched legs. Empty potion vials stood in a neat row, the only evidence of care amidst chaos. As Darnand watched, Jerric took a swig from a pewter pitcher. He appeared to be chewing the beverage. Jerric’s Juice, Darnand realized. He must have made a quick batch from the mushrooms.

Jerric put down his pitcher of magicka potion and stuck a palm under the calcinator. Flames leapt up, threatening to immolate its contents.

The Nord’s earlier words registered. “For the loan of..?” Darnand started. Then horror froze his tongue.

Now he saw that rolls of parchment lay scattered between the various implements. Some rested on beds of rumpled papers. Books lay open and abandoned. Three protruded out from under the hound. All seemed to depict charts and tables. His alchemy charts and tables. Darnand pinched the bridge of his nose, hoping at least to mitigate the inevitable headache.

“I’ll put them all back,” Jerric assured him cheerfully, “before it rains.”

Darnand sighed. “What are you making?”

His friend shot him one of those looks. Darnand refused to take the bait.

“Frost shield combined with resist frost,” Jerric told him. “Plus there’s a minor burden effect, but it’s less than her boots weigh and shouldn’t last even half a minute. With her toe ring, these should make even the Sea of Ghosts feel like bath water. The shield is to protect all her parts from the rocks.”

Darnand stared at him, mystified. “Whose parts? Are these not for sale?”

Jerric grinned like a bear with a mouthful of bees. “Which sounds better, ‘Naked Nature Nymph’ or ‘Bosmer in the Buff’ Potion?”

Of course, thought Darnand. They are for the Bowgirl. “I should think that ‘Hopeful Nord’ would be a more accurate description.”

Jerric laughed. “Every time we find a waterfall. I’m going to ship this batch to her, but I’ll keep a vial just in case. Do you realize that if Lildereth comes to Bravil with us, we might see the trifecta of wood elves?”

Darnand considered. “A mage, a thief, and a fighter?”

“Blonde, brunette, and redhead,” said Jerric. He turned his attention back to the calcinator.

Who could resist these Khajiit? biggrin.gif The Nord has returned to potion brewing. He plans to keep the couriers busy. Here is a page of his recipes, as recorded by Darnand:

Naked Nymph Bare-Bottomed Bosmer in the Buff:
Frost Shield 32%, Resist Frost 43%, Burden 1 lb. 1 sec.
(steel-blue entoloma cap, garlic, sacred lotus seeds, potato)

.

Warm Sands for my Khajiiti Friends: do NOT accidentally send these to Buffy
Frost Shield 32%, Resist Frost 43%, Burden 1 lb. 1 sec.
(steel-blue entoloma cap, garlic, sacred lotus seeds, potato, and one generous pinch of moon sugar added to each vial)
.

Khajiit Guards Your Back: could this be Aravi’s potato potion?
Frost Shield 32%, Shield 45%
(potato, flax seed, garlic)
.

Party Like a Nord:
Resist Poison 43%, Resist Disease 43%
(foxglove nectar, garlic, alkanet flower)
.

Morning After: to aid egress when one awakens in regrettable company
Invisibility, Restore Magicka, Restore Fatigue, Restore Health
(aloe vera leaves, stinkhorn cap, blackberry, fly amanita cap )

I love these potions! rollinglaugh.gif What would happen to Buffy if she accidentally got the Khajiiti potion? What would happen if Jerric or Darnand accidentally took the Khajiiti potion?

Khajiit Guards Your Back sounds like the same potion Aravi used, but hers had a negative effect I think. So Jerric's is better!

SQUEEE! IPB Image

Jerric and Darnand have me spinning, dancing and singing all at once! Thank you so much for remembering how I don’t tolerate cold so well! That potion, along with my cherished toe ring, will make Lake Arrius feel like Topal Bay!

And how wonderful to look inside the creative alchemical mind of Jerric and see some of his recipes. I think that frost shield plus shield one is so perfect for dear Aravi when Kharjo has his hands full with bandits. Thanks for the warning on that one potion – I understand that blondes like Jerric and I really need to stay away from the moon sugar. And I think some of those Morning After ones would be perfect for poor Maxical.

How fun to have a wood nymph swimming party in Bravil! I know Teresa dives off that bridge out the main gate into the Larsius often enough to cause the guards to all chuckle. With she, I and Lildereth, I imagine we could put on quite a show! Maybe we could do it under the moons and Delphine could provide lights and fireworks.

Oh, what a banner day! First, that beautiful story, then a poem from my friend Lothran – he’s a dark elf who is in my guild and we are quillpals. He put up this poem for all to see on what Acadian calls ‘the other forum’:

Ode to Buffy

I know of this Bosmer who is really sweet,
she may not be tall, just a few feet
But she is a good friend and I´d like her to know,
that without her friendship, my life feels so low
She roams 'round the land with a bow in her hand,
with Superian, her friend, they stroll on Anvil´s sand.

I am a lucky elf indeed to have such precious friends!

Here’s a couple recent pictures from my beautiful City of Mara:

Dearest Buffy,

Hannibal told me you have an apartment at the Arcane University now so I stopped in to visit. You weren't here so I'm leaving this note.

I got to pet your cat a LOT while I waited. It likes being scratched under its chin, but you probably know that already.

Hannibal said you are an amazing alchemist, but never to eat your cooking. Don't worry, I can't cook either. (and Hannibal tells all my mistakes to everyone too).

I hope you're here next time I stop in, and maybe you'll let me try on your clothes again - that was fun! I'm dying to hear how Delphine is doing.

Your friend, Maxical

Hey guys! Here's a little message for Buffy Jihl insisted on writing smile.gif

Hello Buffy!

Heather and I have just finished reading the first thread of your journal and, I have to say, what an exciting read!

For now we are going to catch up on some other stories, but we cant wait to get started on thread two!

Jihl

Posted by: Acadian Sep 19 2012, 01:25 PM

Acadian here. Buffy is quite touched and most appreciative of the kind words and support from her friends! She is so pleased that Maxical enjoyed staying in her apartment while at the University and we bid a very warm welcome to Heather and Jihl.

I thought I would offer an update on the busy elf’s life. Since completing Book 1, our attention has been focused on several areas as we spend much of each day traveling Tamriel:

1. Rebuilding Buffy’s tools, skills, heart and confidence after having them broken in Kvatch.
2. Experimenting and settling into some of the magical abilities and helpful friends that will work their way into any future stories.
3. Noting the deterioration, then resolution of the Oblivion Crisis. She is delighted that her friends, Sirs Mazoga and Agronak have not only survived but risen to become Champions of Cyrodiil.
4. She has also witnessed the steely determination of Countess Odalys as Kvatch has been rebuilt into a thriving city.
5. Buffy has expanded her horizons as well, refusing to recognize the borders between provinces. She has recently spent much time in the hostile but beautiful deserts, savannah and jungles of Elsweyr.

She also spends much time thinking about her memoires and, when she is ready, I expect may add more of them to her Journal. In the meantime, I have been traveling with her (I have no choice, you see) and attempting to capture images from her busy days and nights.

In this post, I would like to provide you some pictures that showcase the efforts of Countess Odalys and the determined citizens of Kvatch.

Some overviews to give perspective. Note, the farther the camera, the greater the perspective offered at the price of some rich details-

In http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Epic%20Buffy/ScreenShot1085.jpg it looks like Buffy is sitting slightly below the level of the seat. I had a similar issue (in the opposite direction) with Aranxa, the scaled-up Xivilai. In her case, of course, she'd hover over the seat. I'm not sure there's any easy way to fix it in general, but I think for screenshots you can tweak a character's z-location with a console command. GetPos will give you the current coordinates, and then SetPos z will allow you to provide an adjusted one. There's a similar pair for Angle, too.

How wonderful to hear about Buffy’s adventures and see the rebuilt Kvatch! “Refreshing light shower” is my absolute favorite, what lush detail! I always imagined Kvatch full of gardens and fountains. I love the different kinds of stonework. And Buffy looks beyond adorable perched there on the wall. wub.gif

Safe travels to Buffy wherever she wanders. We will try not to miss her too much while she’s away. My crew assures me that she will return someday, probably when she runs out of hair glop. Though I expect that Khajiit have some good ideas about caring for one’s mane in a dry climate. tongue.gif

I thought that would work, but it turns out that a larger seat made her hover higher. There's not much you can do for a NPC that stands and sits at different times, but sceenshots at least can be tweaked via console.

That would just be too simple, wouldn't it? tongue.gif I actually thought that scaling a seat down for a shorter character would work, not scaling up. For example, a character at .9 would fit better in a seat scaled down to .9, or some other value less than 1.

Right, but my experience was with x1.5 scale Aranxa. It appeared that scaling the chair sets a new position, but a scaled character will hover or sink according to their own scale. IIRC Buffy's scale is only 0.8 or so, meaning that both characters are outside the normal 0.9 to 1.1 of the standard races, where it's not enough to notice. It's not just sitting either. My current char uses a scale of 1.2, and she hovers over a bed when she sleeps (See You Sleep dll version works great!). Swimming is another place where the scale has odd effects.

Buffy stomping grapes, ROFL !!! Love the "screen of the month" in your signature!

Posted by: Acadian Oct 2 2012, 01:51 AM

Darkness Eternal- Thanks for popping in! We have mulled cider, Tamikas and Angel’s recipe for appleberry juice. I’m afraid some of your characters might have to BYOB (bring their own blood) however if that is their drink of choice. wink.gif

mALX- Thanks! The modder of Kvatch Rebuilt did a great job and I’m delighted that, in many ways, it fits Buffy’s story. Thank you also for mentioning Buffy’s screenshot for October. As we’ll before long move to another month, let me more permanently post the one you’re referring to: http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Epic%20Buffy/ScreenShot1043.jpg

ghastley- Thanks for identifying that statue for us. Thanks also to you and KC for ideas about the ‘little elves in big chairs’ problem. Most of the time it isn’t noticeable, but you’re right that it is in that shot. The ladies of Buffy’s custom race are 88% the height of an Imperial woman and 80% of their weight. Based on the ideas you and KC kicked around, I did drop the size of a stool and had Buffy sit in it. With a bit of fine tuning, it actually solved the problem and is something I’ll have to remember.

Grits- Thank you so very much for your kind words and well wishes! You always warm our hearts. happy.gif

KC- Thanks for enjoying Buffy’s little tour. Between you and ghastley, we also learned how to make her better fit those human sized chairs and stools that fill her world!

It's hard to tell with Buffy, but I do think that Khajiit's bigger than normal. He's Kharjo sized at least!

Posted by: Acadian Oct 3 2012, 01:07 PM

Thank you friends! I expect that Khajiit guard is 1.0. Our 'camera' seems very sensitive to distance - that is, an object being closer/farther makes the size appear quite a bit bigger/smaller. You can see it in that picture with Superian; her rear is farther away than her front so her head looks a little bigger than it should and her butt and rear hoofs appear a tad smaller than they are. I think the guard's size appears so exaggerated because he is so close to the 'camera'. You can see sort of the same effect on the top/farther vs lower/closer ears of the guard's bow and the fingers on his closer vs farther gauntlet.

Posted by: ghastley Oct 3 2012, 02:14 PM

I think you've also got a bit of "fish-eye" effect, and things nearer the center look smaller than at the edge. It may depend on the FOV setting, or it may always be there as a "feature" of the render engine.

Buffy's legs look longer with that position in the picture. She might like that idea.

Posted by: Acadian Oct 4 2012, 12:47 AM

Looking over a bunch of screens, I think you are right, ghastley. Things at the edges of the screen seem a tad oversize in addition to the somewhat expected 'closer looks bigger' effect. I'll have to bear that in mind. Our FOV is the default 75 degrees. The only other factor I can think of is that my monitor is a widescreen one. I do have the game resolution set to match the optimum setting for the monitor. Oh well, just something to bear in mind. smile.gif

Buffy has given me permission to share some more of her expedition to the land of Khajiit. We’ll start with some shots of northeast Elsweyr –

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1128.jpg

This city is built into the face of a rather steep rocky mountain and straddles a magnificent waterfall. Wooden bridges connect the two halves. Some of the buildings are free-standing and made of wood. Many, however, have wooden fronts and once inside you realize that they exploit either natural or Khajiit-made caves that go into the mountain. This creates a delightful mixture of wood and cave stone interiors as you can see below -

I LOVE seeing Buffy standing on the high deck in Riverhold and seeing the Imperial City in the distance! Got to get this mod installed! Awesome shots!

Posted by: King Coin Oct 9 2012, 04:47 AM

This is by far my favorite city I've seen. The mages' guild looks beautiful! The city looks pretty natural for a Bosmer as well. What's the pretty kitty's name that's brewing potions with Buffy? And I see one of the smaller Khajiit in the room as well! happy.gif

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Oct 9 2012, 10:04 PM

Elsweyr! Truly beautiful!

Postcard is amazing. It is just as how I pictured the Khajiiti homeland to be. More or less Saudi Arabian style with intricate carpets and markets! Love Khajiits! Buffy is sure to get a great tan!

Posted by: Grits Oct 11 2012, 01:22 AM

I love these. The view of Buffy in Riverhold with the Tower in the distance really fires the imagination. A city built over a waterfall! Wonderful! smile.gif

Posted by: Acadian Oct 12 2012, 02:14 PM

mALX- Thank you! Buffy quite fell in love with the rustic beauty of Riverhold. And anytime she can get up high to counter her height, she’s happy! tongue.gif

KC- Thanks! Sorry, we forgot both the alchemist’s and the Alfiq’s names that are in that screen of the guild. Luvs the mixture of cave and wood found in some of the Riverhold buildings.

Darkness Eternal- Thanks for the comment on that postcard! Yes, as Buffy moves deeper into Elsweyr, we’ll see quite the Arabian flavor in places.

Grits- Thank you! Riverhold really does capture the imagination. An exotic mixture of cliffs and water with a sort of tree house feel – as odd as that all sounds. tongue.gif

*

Since we have about 40 screenshots of Buffy’s grand tour of Elsweyr, we’ve organized the rest of them into bite-sized pieces that we'll post perhaps a week or so apart.

As Buffy heads south from Riverhold, the forests begin to melt away gradually yielding to desert -

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1130.jpg

Just a note here on the tiger in this next one, as you will see more of him in the future. The cat is quite magical and mysterious. He is Superian’s very protective ‘familiar’ and as devoted to the mare as Buffy is. He can change from cat to tiger and even conjure a set of enchanted Royal Pahmar armor.

Note: I’ll be gone this upcoming week on another pilgrimage to visit Acadian the Senior. I look forward to then returning to my own desert home, catching up on the wonderful threads that I follow, then posting Buffy’s next installment of her Elsweyr Expedition.

The Kynareth shot is my fave - on a hill overlooking the Imperial City! That would have to be where Maxical would park her tent!

These are all wonderful shots - I am loving this mod!

Posted by: King Coin Oct 13 2012, 10:07 PM

The kynereth one is nice, I really like seeing the Imperial City off in the distance behind it. White Gold Tower is almost always in sight in Cyrodiil, but in theses new lands, it's a rare sight I bet.

Love the screen of Buffy's desert camp. She's looks like she's enjoying the day's heat before the sun sinks down and the desert starts to cool off for the night.

Spiders! ohmy.gif Aravi agrees with Buffy. I love that outfit Buffy is wearing though! What is it?

Posted by: SubRosa Oct 14 2012, 12:51 AM

That's a neat looking creatures in the bartering for water pic. Is that desert tauntaun? I hope these ones smell better on the outside as well... ohmy.gif wink.gif

I see Buffy is prepared for roughing it in the desert though! I had to smile when I saw her mini-desert palace.

Ewww, spiders. I would have to do some modding to play this mod.

Neat, they have elephants. They remind me of the Jockey from Alien (I just watched Prometheus a few days ago).

Ostriches too! They sure put a lot of work into adding new creatures. I like that. I loved the truck stop pic with the 'big rigs'! Better watch what you step in there! biggrin.gif

I love the way Buffy is holding her bow at the Khenarthi statue. Bartering for water is a neat shot. What a different world! Wow, those are really big spiders! That watering hole looks like tons of fun. Any crocs in Elsweyr? blink.gif

Safe travels, Acadian! smile.gif

As Buffy heads south from Riverhold, the forests begin to melt away gradually yielding to desert -

[/color]This one is splendid; she has a "hello there," vibe going on! The scenery is beautiful, too.

In a dry, arid place like Elsweyr, water is more valuable than gold. I love the scene here, and the dino creature in the backround. Truly speaks what Elswyer is: Elsewhere!

Just a note here on the tiger in this next one, as you will see more of him in the future. The cat is quite magical and mysterious. Ooo, of course, the heat is too much. Relaxing with little clothes is how it's done!

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1134.jpg
Arachnophobic Buffy! Then again, spiders that large, I would hate them too! I feel her!

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1132.jpg
Holy cow, those are bigger than the ones in Skyrim! I guess the cold makes them smaller than their dry counterparts. Goodness gracious! Yuck!

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1137.jpg
No bartering here. Just share a watering hole with the elephants! Cute looking Elephants! I hope to see them in Elswyer when we go there soon. All of us. It must be like our Africa here! Buffy indeed looks like she had a blast.

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1138.jpg
Ohh?

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1139.jpg
She should climb one and race with it, haha. I don't know if Superian is fast enough to catch up with them, perhaps Buffy could try?

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1100%20Series%20Screenshots/ScreenShot1140.jpg Hahah, this is brilliant! Small vehicle next to large ones . . .who have trumpet-snouts! She sure feels protected, I bet.

I so appreciate the warm feedback on Buffy’s ‘Elsweyr Expedition’! happy.gif

mALX- Thank you! I too am very impressed with the pure exploration and beauty of the Elsweyr mod. Lliana did a fabulous job.

KC- Buffy also thought that desert camp was simply beautiful – straight out of Arabian Nights. In the spider shots, Buffy’s wearing an Elsweyr tribal shaman’s fur cuirass with her buckskin greaves/boots. The Nordic hand wraps are by Brash and her red head band is by Apachii. It is so neat seeing the White Gold Tower from another province! Thanks!

SubRosa- Heh, I don’t know what the little ‘desert dinosaurs’ are but I love how they remind you of the Star Wars deserts! The spiders are fast, tough and about a foot across. That giant one was sort of like the giant mudcrab or slaughterfish hidden in the bowels of Cyrodiil. I love the African savanna influences Lliana clearly used with her wildlife. There are antelope as well! Thanks for liking our ‘truck stop’ shot.

Grits- Thank you! I’ve learned that many of the poses can be done with or without weapons with sometimes neat results. ‘Crocs’ are depicted by ¾ scale Daedroths that like to stay with their heads right at the water’s surface.

Darkness Eternal- Thanks very much! As a desert dweller myself, I tried not to overly influence Buffy; nevertheless, I was simply delighted to see her fall in love with the subtle beauty amidst the sands of Anequina. Her biggest concern was water for her mare and she quickly learned how and where to look for it.

More of the Deserts of Anequina, as we offer Buffy’s third of six posts devoted to her visit there-

Is that the Oasis where the Two Moons Temple is? If so, it's a neat trick to have it just out of LOD range! Nice shooting!

Posted by: SubRosa Oct 26 2012, 07:26 PM

http://aliens.wikia.com/wiki/Mala%27kak are what I meant about the Alien jockeys. It was a dead alien that was discovered in the very first Alien movie. The crew nicknamed it the "jockey" so that name has stuck, even though other names for their species have come along since then. For example, in the movie Prometheus they are called Engineers. Me being an old fuddy duddy, I still call them jockeys.

That was a welcome oasis. Until the sandstorm came along! I see Buffy has the same type of bonemold helmet that Anat does (there are three or four different styles in Morrowind). Interesting new races. I have never seen a tsaesci in any mods before. And a snow leopard? What is he doing in the desert? I would think he would be more at home in a place like Skyrim.

Those desert pics make me keep looking for http://www.allmoviephoto.com/photo/2004_hidalgo_wallpaper_002.html. I watched it a few weeks ago, and I guess it is still on my mind.

Posted by: King Coin Oct 26 2012, 07:57 PM

That oasis is beautiful! Though I see a pesky imp hanging around it. I hope Buffy can remove it without fouling the water. Not a sand storm!

Orcrest. What’s with the dead bodies on the gate? blink.gif I think Aravi would pass that city by. I love the shirt Buffy has on in that picture.

“Kinda far from home, ain’t ya, elf?” “So are you Orc!” She’s actually closer to ‘home’ than he is, Valenwood’s pretty close isn’t it? What is that behind Buffy? It looks like a giant rat.

I love the mask Buffy wears in the sand storms.

‘Red sky at night’ is beautiful. Buffy’s wearing that hunter’s vest/bra that Aravi liked and she’s got her horse and tiger with her.

I like the shirt in the sunrise screen too. Thanks for sharing, these are great!

Posted by: Grits Oct 27 2012, 03:31 AM

That is a beautiful oasis! Buffy looks tired but lovely outside Orcrest. She must still have some hair glop left! That road sign was fun to see.

Only Buffy could outshine a Tsaesci and a snow leopard. Her outfit is fabulous!!

The thing I love most about the desert is the sky, so the last two are my favorites. I love the way the light touches the side of Buffy’s face in the sunrise picture. happy.gif

Posted by: mALX Oct 28 2012, 02:29 AM

The oasis is gorgeous! That dust storm - man, they really do come up quick. Remember the charge into Iraq that got them all the way to Bagdad when that sandstorm hit and they had to wait three days to enter? Urk. Wow, that Snow Leopard is HUGE !!!!! Awesome shots!

Posted by: Acadian Nov 2 2012, 01:06 PM

Buffy continues her exploration of Elseweyr, but first some grateful words for the support of her friends -

ghastley- Yes, that’s the oasis by the Two Moons Temple. We thought it was a really pretty spot. Thanks!

SubRosa- I’m glad you’re enjoying our desert tour. Living in the desert myself, I quite love the terrain and climate. You can see why Buffy likes that bonemold helm so much – it’s perfect for sandstorms. Quite a surprise encountering a Tsaesci! Another fun race is the Ragasha – they are basically goblins with brown fur, tails and a rat head.

KC- Thank you! In the tavern is one of those Ragasha I mentioned above to SubRosa. Buffy, being. . . well, Buffy of course, has pretty much customized her wardrobe all around to suit the desert. Lol. Oh, Orcrest is pretty much run by orcs, to include the city ruler. It’s a tough city with even minotaurs wandering around without crossing the orcs.

Grits- Oh, thank you so much for those words, Grits! You always make Buffy grin, dance and spin like a top! happy.gif

mALX- Thanks! Those sand storms only take a few minutes to come up in Elsweyr and can last for up to several days. Buffy’s biggest concern is finding a place to get her mare into some cover. She’s even bribed the city guards to bring Superian into their guard house or, if out in the desert, taken her into a cave to wait it out.

Superian's familiar is up drinking margaritas and getting familiar with Buffy, ROFL !!! What building is that? Is it an inn?

I'm torn for a favorite between that gorgeous leopard, "cooling their feet," and the Zebras - beautiful landscape in that one!

I am LOVING this mod! Great update!

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 2 2012, 06:47 PM

The first pic has me looking for people with glowing blue eyes, and sandworms!

The zebras look really good.

Buffy shows that she is female, in that she is willing to stop and ask for directions! laugh.gif

Margaritas, alright now. That little rooftop lounge looks very inviting.

Posted by: King Coin Nov 2 2012, 07:45 PM

The zebras are kind of cool. Does Buffy want a showy mount like that? biggrin.gif

The fight with the leopard looks so cool. I’ve seen a happy tiger so much that it’s nice to see that he can be mean when he needs to be.

Asking directions was very neat! I like the landscape in that picture.

Posted by: Grits Nov 3 2012, 12:36 AM

Zebras!! biggrin.gif And wow, a cat fight! That leopard looks beautiful.

I love Asking Directions. The cacti, the size difference, and that Khajiit’s gorgeous markings! Buffy could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. happy.gif

Ah, margaritas. I love the light in that picture, and what a neat building! What an enjoyable tour!

Posted by: ghastley Nov 7 2012, 06:54 PM

There are Pineapples (at that plantation, if I'm not mistaking where she is), and Coconuts, and Sugar Cane to make rum, so I'd have thought Pina Coladas would be available, too!

I must do the Alchemy next time, and see what that mixture gives you biggrin.gif

Posted by: Acadian Nov 9 2012, 01:53 PM

Thank you for the wonderful support as Buffy walks on warm sands. happy.gif

mALX- Lol. When the cat is satisfied that Superian is safe, he’ll sometimes stay with the mare, but almost as often wander around with Buffy. That building is the tiny plantation of an eccentric artist who allowed Buffy to pitch her bedroll up on the roof. Thanks, I’m glad we were able to capture some of the savannah wildlife!

SubRosa- I chuckled over your comment about Buffy asking directions. Like Teresa, Buffy’s a great scout and good with a map, but not too proud to ask for help. wink.gif Beautiful sunset from atop Margarita roof.

KC- Buffy likes to look at the zebras, but she thinks her precious mare is showy enough. tongue.gif I wish I was better at action shots; that big cat is awesome when fighting. Thanks!

Grits- Elsweyr is simply full of all kinds of cats (no surprise there) and many of them are gorgeous. Thanks so much for picking up on how naturally Buffy the chatterbox starts up conversations with anyone. laugh.gif

ghastley- *Buffy slaps self on forehead* “I coulda had a Pina Colada!?!” cool.gif Let me know how that plantation mixture works out!

I'm so torn for favorites here!

Open air markets - absolutely LOVE that idea, and the screen depicts it in amazing detail!

Palace courtyard - two very different Khajiit in one screen, not to mention giant tigers wandering in the background!

Mages Guild - Buffy is kind of looking at the camera with just one eye, the other is seen through the bottle - I absolutely LOVE that one !!!

Can't pick a fave, love them all !!!

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 9 2012, 07:52 PM

That is a weird rock outside Corinthe. It sort of reminds me of a teapot, with a long spout.

The open air market is neat! I like how it is packed with stuff. They even have a troll for sale!

The palace is looking good. I see more pet tigers there. Of course Buffy found the Mages Guild too! That is a good shot of her inspecting her potion.

Posted by: King Coin Nov 11 2012, 07:15 AM

I like Corinthe much better than the Orc city. No corpses decorating the city gates. The buildings look very pretty.

The market is so cool! Really has that market feel to it.

Buffy looks well dressed for the palace gardens! happy.gif

The courtyard really shows quite a variety of Khajiit.

I think I like the more cave like guild hall than this one.

Posted by: Grits Nov 14 2012, 03:29 AM

What a neat picture with the rock, the plants, and the elf loving her mare! happy.gif

Oh, Corinthe looks lovely! What a beautiful setting. The market looks like it has fun things to poke through. A pet troll, a candle shop, and I am giggling over those, um, goats? Or perhaps they’re sheep in party hats.

I love Buffy’s Elsweyr fashion flair. That outfit gets a bowgirl noticed, even standing next to a giant guard in a very special hat! tongue.gif

Palace Gardens is my favorite. The flowers are the perfect colors to complement Buffy and her outfit.

Wow, I would be looking for real estate in Corinthe! Beautiful.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 16 2012, 02:34 PM

In the last segment, Buffy showed us some shots of Corinthe, Elsweyr – a beautiful city.

mALX- Thank you! Those open air markets were wonderfully exotic. The two giant blinged-up brownish tigers are Royal Pahmer, and Lliana did a wonderful job at depicting numerous types of Khajiit. As many photo sessions as Buffy has endured, you’d think she’d know better than to look at the camera while making poisons. tongue.gif

SubRosa- Oh, you’re right about that rock looking a bit like a teapot! That open air market really helps ‘make’ the city. The Corinthe MG is a big one with quite a few members. As you can see, not all of them are Khajiit and the guildmagister is an Altmer. Thanks!

KC- I agree that Corinthe is beautiful compared to Orcrest. Although the Corinthe guild is very nice, I join you in preferring the intimate cavelike rustic guild hall in Riverhold. Thank you!

Grits- Thank you! I’m so glad we posted that open air market one as I see several folks love it as much as Buffy and I. You can get little lanterns to carry around that work just like torches – quite neat for those magically challenged dungeon divers. That outfit is inspired by Assassin’s Creed and is a great mix & match set in differing colors with capes and skirt/pants accessories. Like you, I really like those big red flowers – we’ll show some more in the jungle within today’s batch of shots.

* * *

Approaching the coastal jungles to the south, we wrap up Buffy’s tour of Elsweyr –

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1216.jpg

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 16 2012, 04:28 PM

I love Red River Canyon. The textures on the cliffsides really make it work. I keep looking for John Wayne atop one of the rises. wink.gif

Find the showering elf was not easy, but I found her!

Neat to see a ship off the coast. I wonder if they are pirates!

The coral reef was really neat to see. A Seahorse! What a brilliant addition.

I see Buffy made it back to Bravil for some tea with her guildmates.

Posted by: King Coin Nov 16 2012, 09:36 PM

The canyon is beautiful! I love the flowers and ferns on the rock walls. Found the showering elf! The jungles are the best I’ve seen. Looks thick and dangerous though. I was looking for another showering elf in the fourth screen shot. laugh.gif Buffy’s tiger looks right at home in the jungle brush. What a cool shot of Buffy in the coral reef! If that was Aravi swimming, it would have been more difficult to get a screen shot. She has a very cute dress in the last one! happy.gif

Posted by: mALX Nov 16 2012, 09:42 PM

I've seen some of these before, but loved them just as much the second time around! Still can't figure out how Buffy got on that shelf below Superian and the tiger, but if they hadn't been there drawing attention I may never have found her, lol. I love this mod - have to get it! Awesome screens!

Posted by: Grits Nov 16 2012, 10:58 PM

I love these! There’s no way I’ll be able to pick a favorite. The water and vegetation along with the desert rock is so beautiful! I especially love the picture of Buffy and Superian in Red River Canyon Gorge. The gulls are a great detail in the coastal picture. And the coral reef is amazing!

It’s lovely to see Buffy back home with her guild sisters, though. I wonder if Buffy’s new fashion will inspire any of the Bravil girls to shorten their skirts.

Oh, and the Nord looking over my shoulder (and dropping crumbs) will always find the showering elf!! tongue.gif

Buffy is surely having a blast in Elsweyr! I can tell! Nothing but tans, waterfalls, sand and exotic animals! And she gets to walk around without any heavy armor! Talk about vacations! I like the Guildmaster's tea picture. That was a very neat one, but not the only neat one. The stalking in the grass with the tiger is pretty cool, too!

Thank you dear friends for enjoying my adventures in Elsweyr! By Mara, it’s almost Saturalia again! Acadian has told me of your winter customs, so we both wish everyone a wonderful Saturalia and merry Christmas. I got together with a couple friends and the three of us decided to sing a little song to celebrate. The brunette is called Caramell; she’s a tiny Nord singer from Skyrim who’s famous throughout Tamriel. The elf with lavender hair is Malin from Valenwood (you met her in Episode 123 of my Journal). Acadian even has a tiny speaking part in it. I hope you enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWJHuLOIT-I&feature=related santaclaus.gif

I so hope everyone is enjoying their winter. We spent Saturalia frolicking in the snow near Bruma. Thanks to Jerric’s gift last Saturalia of my resist frost toe ring, I was inspired to bedeck my traveling companions with similarly enchanted bling to http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1247.jpg I hope Aravi and Kharjo are keeping each other warm up in Skyrim. tongue.gif Maxical, that is such a beautiful picture of you! You look so regal and ladylike; surely Delphine and I must tease you about that when next we see you. And well-met new friend, Vera! Yes, we shall have to go hunting. I find most of my prey lives in dark places and travels on two legs. wink.gif

We finally descended out of the snow. Approaching the University, I had to chuckle over how much magicka it takes to keep http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1243.jpg

After retrofitting (and warming up) at the University, I headed south but couldn’t resist some http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1242.jpg

As ever, it was so nice to be with http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1246.jpg

Soon enough, however, that strange door in the Niben beckoned again. Someday, someone (not me of course) will figure out how to get rid of that nasty little Daedric Prince who runs the Isles. I’m so glad that Jayred Ice-Veins managed to somehow kill that horrid Gatekeeper. At least now, I can go deeper into the Isles and http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1248.jpg It’s gorgeous in there but lacks. . . order with Sheo in charge. http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1244-1.jpg and look at this: http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/1200%20Series/ScreenShot1245.jpg

While exploring the Isles, I encountered a Nord named Yngvar who gave me a book called ‘The Predecessors’; it talks about something called a Greymarch. Well, Ungarion and Henantier were very interested when I brought the book to them and have been talking about restoring order to the Isles ever since. Who knows? Henantier is a very powerful mage and perhaps just crazy enough to go in there and try. . . .

Look at me blathering on! So many dungeons, so little time. Love and kisses to each of you!

Tell Buffy to be careful around those underground waterfalls. The rocks are slippery, and no-one will hear you if you fall.

How fun to have a snowy Saturalia! Superian’s familiar looks quite stylish in the tail ring. happy.gif Buffy’s dungeon crawling outfit is approved on all fronts, as she looks both well-protected and lovely in her armor and red hood.

I love to see Buffy in the Isles, especially since she is practicing her stealth art and bringing interesting tidbits to the Altmer warlocks of Bravil. Beautiful sights to see! Particularly around those waterfalls. wink.gif

My favorite picture is the 1700 pound water striders. Despite the buckskins and bow, there goes a mage!! tongue.gif

Posted by: King Coin Jan 5 2013, 05:44 PM

Buffy’s tiger looks very stylish with his resist frost enchantments. I would expect nothing less from Buffy though, keeping everyone looking their best. Aravi and Kharjo are staying nice and warm. wink.gif

Buffy has a lot of magicka stored in that little elf body! Where does she keep it all? ohmy.gif Anyways, it’s nice that she keeps her horse and tiger nice and dry!

Even in a dungeon where nothing is likely to see her (unless something goes wrong), Buffy looks great as ever in her black cuirass. Looks like leather pants too.

The Bravil guild hall! laugh.gif Looks like someone’s in a shouting match!

I like seeing Buffy on the enormous roots that grow in the Isles. I love the screen shot of the sky, but the one of Buffy on the waterfall is the best in my opinion. happy.gif She’s dressed like Aravi is at the moment.

“That’s the last of them, Acadian.” I pushed out my lower lip and blew several blond strays from my face. “Hearts Day is only two days away and I need to get these presents out for the next Black Horse Courier run to make sure they’re delivered in time. The Imperial City, Chorrol, Bruma, even as far away as Anvil and Skyrim. I can deliver the ones here in Bravil by hand."

The paladin sighed. “I don’t think I want to see any more chocolate or red ribbons for a long time. You know I feel everything that you do – including your upset stomach.”

I licked my fingers and quietly burped. “Well, we had to sample everystuff didn’t we?”

“If you say so, my bowgirl." I felt him cringe at my 'everystuff' Buffyism, but he knew better than to critique it. "Will you hold out one or your presents so I can capture its image?”

“Of course, my paladin, but not looking like this.” Summoning a handkerchief, I dispelled any chocolate smudges from my face and hands. I then lifted my fist and under its resultant shroud of invisibility exchanged smock for silk. As my hands reappeared in front of me, I quickly ran a comb through my hair. “Delphine and Kud-Ei, can you come over here please? Oh, and bring the summoned ghost you’re playing cards with.” I turned and held out one of my presents.

What a wonderful little snippet and a beautiful picture! Loving Buffy's new hairstyle. happy.gif

Aravi will be on the look out for a courier bearing chocolate. Good to know that if there is a missing piece, it's just Buffy making sure everything tasted good! Anymore than that, and Aravi will know to chew out a Nord.

Happy Hearts Day to Buffy!

What a lovely and thoughtful treat! Jerric’s world is full of lonely hearts at the moment, and Buffy’s gifts will surely bring warm smiles all around. happy.gif

I love the adorable and very Buffy story behind that beautiful Heart’s Day picture!

And lol, KC. Of course there are a LOT of Nords who work for courier services! tongue.gif

Thank you dear friends. happy.gif Sun’s Dawn the 16th (today) is the real Hearts Day so happy wishes again!

mALX- Delphine told Buffy that Maxical loves chocolate. Wonderful to hear that the Diva of Destruction was right!

KC- Thank you! I’m glad you like the hairstyle. It’s longer in the back than it looks from the front. Aravi certainly won’t have to worry about chocolate melting in Skyrim!

Grits- I’m so glad that the chocolates and warm wishes will help bring smiles to Jerric and friends.

Liz- Buffy wasn’t quite sure, so she sent two packages for Kayla; one to Anvil and one to Skyrim.

Destri- That ghost is a mess! Loves tea, but has a real dribbling problem with it! Warmest regards to Lord Rugrat and that beautiful new bride of his.

mirocu- I’m so glad that you and dear Lothran dropped by! What a fabulous snowy shot of Lothie, Wolfie and Aetherius!

16 Sun’s Dawn

Dearest Buffy,

Warmest Wishes for a Happy Hearts Day.

Your thoughtful gifts were received and thoroughly enjoyed today. Jerric helped himself to a sample from each box. After repeating his taste test several times he declared them all equally delicious.

I confess it was I who suggested that your chocolate might pair well with a glass of Surilie Brothers tawny port. Our Nord friend followed my advice, and then tried a piece with Blackguard’s Ale, Mellow Mushroom Mead, a Colovian lager of uncertain provenance, one leg of mutton, and a distilled beverage whose name cannot be accurately rendered in our tongue as only an Argonian can hiss while spitting.

Lildereth painted a picture of the aftermath. I have enclosed it for your amusement. [http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h361/grits29/polarbear_zps6d4920e7.jpg.]

Before Jerric succumbed to his Sanguinite tendencies he brewed a small thank-you gift. I have enclosed it with the poem that he quilled himself. (Forgive me, but I took the liberty of testing it. I assure you it is quite safe.) I will not repeat the Hearts Day scenario he described that might require an elixir of warming. Suffice it to say that the Nord admires you.

In closing I wish to thank you, Buffy, for your thoughtful gifts but more for your gracious friendship. I speak not only for myself when I say that on this day as ever you warm the hearts of us all.

Fond Regards,

Darnand Penoit

Jerric’s Poem, accompanying a vial of Resist Frost Potion:

Redwort is Red

Entoloma is Blue

Together they make A nice potion for You.

Jerric

From Kayla:

"Boofy!

Currently I am balls-deep in vampires, so excuse the harsh language and unreadable bits. I'm a bit on edge. There's a *^# --=)...

The chocolate you sent was a ray of sunshine in my darkened world. When I am finished with my quest of vengeance, I will try to make a trip to +/,>, and see if I can't teach you a bit about hands-on combat fighting. Maybe you can show me some illusion magick as well?

!-*~~ of my love,

Kayla"

My friends, Acadian has ‘suggested’ that I favor black ink on my quill as he believes it to be easier on the eyes. By ‘suggest’, I mean he has replaced most of my ink pots, save enough to quill my signature. Grumpy old paladin! I mean who made him my editor? Do any of you know what it is like to have him 'nitpick' your hard work while he professes that it is for your own growth? Oh, I acquiesced, but you can better believe I shot him a tersely clipped 'Fine!'

I did enjoy a cozy morning curled up by a warmly crackling hearth, sipping tea and tending to my letters. I was delighted to hear that all the packages I sent found the tummies of my friends. happy.gif

*

Dear Darnand,

Thank you for the wonderfully thoughtful letter and clever poem from our Polar bear Poet of Potions. Since Lildereth painted that picture, I take it she is well. I’m ever so glad that, in his chocolate frenzy, Jerric didn’t accidentally pop the small wood elf into his mouth! I know the way to a Nord’s heart is through his stomach, but I’m sure Lildereth would never forgive me.

I’m glad the packages found you. I was careful not to underestimate our large Nordic friend and, hopefully, sent enough for all. What a wonderful idea to pair chocolate with wine! I’ll certainly have to try that.

I shall save and cherish the elixir of warming until, once again, I see your warm smile and those of the wonderful friends that travel with you.

Love, Buffy

*

Friend Kayla,

Ugh – vampires! They give me cramps when I get near them. Not fun, so I truly sympathize.

I’m so pleased that the chocolates found you and brightened up your day a bit! I understand pairing them with wine works better than vengeance. Hee!

I’d be happy to try and teach you some illusion spells – I’m sure your Altmeri instincts in that regard would overrule your Nordic upbringing to render you a skilled wizard. Not to mention how much an illusionist can save while shopping. On the melee fighting. . . well, once I got mad at Daenlin when I was young and punched him in the chest. He had to escort this crying elf to the chapel so my bruised thumb could be healed. He later told me to not to wrap my fingers around my thumb when I make a fist. I’m probably hopeless?

Stay safe and spill some vampire blood for me, sister.

Love, Boofy Buffy

*Dearest Buffy*

As always I have spent yet another winter in Bruma and as always it has been bliss! I love my Nordic little town where everyone knows everyone and where most of the ground is as white as my hair. You have been occupied in the warmth of Elsweyr I understand, where the climate is perhaps more suitable for a wood elf. Even so, I can still see you sitting by the fire in my cabin, with the bear pelt wrapped around you trying to get your body temperature up!

But now I´m almost ready to leave Bruma to enjoy the rest of Cyrodiil again. I plan to follow my usual routine which involves going almost straight down to Anvil. The difference between the two towns is really interesting and I love coming down there after my winter stay up in the mountains. I´ve also heard about a ranger´s cabin out in the Basin somewhere and I aim to look it up. Perhaps I can make a new friend?

Whatever happens, rest assured that you and Superian are never far away in my mind and I hope that we one day will see each other again! Perhaps we can go for another hunt? In any case, be safe and be happy!

With warm regards, your friend Lothran

Now fly, Kyne. Find Buffy and give her this letter.
Find her.

Posted by: Acadian Mar 28 2013, 07:38 PM

Dear Lothran,

Kyne found me at the University working on my memoires. It’s hard to believe that our white dove has been dutifully carrying letters between us for over two years!

I’m so pleased that your winter passed well. I fondly remember my first visit to see you in Bruma. I was ill-prepared for the weather, but fondly remember us riding together, and the magic of snowflakes dancing in your white hair. I hope your mare, Aetherius, remains well? She’s a beautiful paint, and well-suited for your Nordic winters.

Yes, Elsweyr is a wonderful land. I had no idea the complexities of Khajiit and their culture. And I fell in love with the subtle beauty of that province’s deserts, jungles and beautiful sea coasts. With some wardrobe adaptations, Superian and I learned how to survive and even travel during the frequent sandstorms that sweep across the Anequina.

It is delightfully warm here now as I sit among the flowers of the alchemy gardens. As you well know, I cannot stay in one place too long and, hopefully, this spring will find Superian and I visiting Anvil as well. I confess that when our paths last crossed there, you quite spoiled me. Crab and Tamikas for dinner, watching the sunset from the lighthouse, and gentle surf on our feet during walks along the beach. And how festive it was when you and I delivered the boar we had hunted for a guild cook out!

Be well and safe, my friend, until our paths can cross again. Fly now, Kyne. Carry this to Lothran.

Love, Buffy
