A mod where you are in a British rifle company, similar to what we see in the TV series Sharpe. Any takers?

look at the "roman britain" thread on this group of threads (mod ideas), and see if they can incoperate it into theirs...that way there is less for the community to download...less to bog the processor if mods are like other autonomous areas in the game..still unsure of the nature of them in that respect....and easier on the modders that work on the project. Maybe this could be like a house/military-company inside the larger game addon set.

i like your thinking jchamber but i'm not sure if those two mods are really similar...

@WarHawk...
Nice idea but modding in guns will be quite difficult due to nothing to base them on. As I'm not a game engine programmer, i'm not sure how hard that will be but they did a gun mod for MW so good luck...

well I just saw british in both and I have never seen Sharpe....or even heard of it, so I wasn't sure what the time period, style, and mood that it is in. But in the british part it is similar...and that's all I had to go on.

Might be able to do something with the bow part of the engine, though.

yep, replace arrow with a bullet, modify the speed and trajectory, and add smoke and firing animations. Shouldn't be too dificult.

Sharpe takes place during the Napoleonic wars, so around the early 1800's.

It's a great show too, I highly recomend it. I haven't read the books yet though, but I hear those are good too.

13 more feature length episodes, and another one coming out this year on the BBC.

ah ic, ty for the link. I don't have the BBC, but I am going to see if my local library has it. If they do I will check it out since you suggested it. Have a good day. I suggest many series, including Naruto.

I don't remember where, but I belive that I read somewhere that the staffs were now fireball throwers. Those might be as close to a gun as Oblivion will get. They might be a good starting point for any mod that includes guns.

i posted the followin idea on other forums hopein sum1 would like it..

the game/mod will be set in a fictional land that is 1 huge map that the player can wonder round freely. the player will have the role of a british solider and will paly out his life in a fictional land.

the player will start by choosing his features. (you would be given a number of points to use on different skills. strenght, accuracy, speed, endurance, skill, stealth)

the player will also decide looks such as face height weight.

the story

its a land of battle between 3 sides french, english and the natives. each side is locked in battle and wants to rule the land. the natives used to own the land and know the land well the french and the british dont but have the musket unknown to the natives. on a mission for the british you (the player) have been captured by a french patrol

and you have been taken to a prison in the french camp. while being fed you decide to escape by slitting the french guards throat with the knife now you must escape and return to your british camp. if you make it back alive you will then decide the fate of the british army......

the enemies

the french have 4 main different units. calvalvry, spy, frusilier, and officers. each one will have different strenghts and weakneses. the natives have 4 archer, musketeer, axemen, chief.

the enemy ai will be good and will have patrols that wonder round the map and try to destroy the british camps and supplies.

each side will have its weaknesses and strenghts

french

weaknesses - acuracy with a musket

strenghts - avg numbers and avg melee combat

british

weaknesses - low numbers

strenghts - very accurate and dis+iplined

natives

weaknesses - acuracy with a musket and disipline

strenghts - large numbers of troops and strong melee combat

what there is to do

after the start sequence and the player escaping the french camp the player will head back to the british camp where he/she will be given orders and missions. on compleation of these missions the player

will be given more missions and more experience pionts for skills and possibly given a rank up.

the player will want to rank up so he/she can command more men and do more advanced missions and make more of an impact of the end result of the war. with rank come skill points dependng on the rank.

the missions will be things like rescuing prisoners, killing certain officers, destroying key statigic positions, leading battles, intercepting french dispatches, taking over castles, escorting supplies, scouting,

capturing wealth, defending supplies, defending castles, defending an officer etc.....

the player can buy new equipment with loot that he/she finds. the equipment could be better guns, bigger backpack so can carry more etc... the player can also pick up andything from a enemy or ally that is dead

things such as ammo and weapons and money.

if the player completes missions it will advance his/her team to victory and if he/she fails then it will do the oposite. if the player is killed on a mission the player will be captured so will have to escape again.

weapons

rifle - more acurate than a musket, 10 secs to reload.

musket - more powerful than a rifle, 7 secs to reload.

sword - used by officers

axe - used by the natives

throwing axe - used by the natives very powerful but less acurate.

bow - more acurate than a throwing axe but less powerful, 5 secs to reload

knife - very acurate at close range and is very stealthy. can be used from behind an enemy to stay undetected.

pistol - used by officers mainly not acurate nor powerful. 10 secs to reload

each weapon has many different types with different attributes so the user can upgrade for better weapons.

although the weapons are not powerful a headshot will kill. and also the weapons will be mor acurate than the real life ones to make the game more playable. and the user will get better the more points for skills he/she gets

other non weapons

powder horn - used to keep powder to use in muskets and rifles

musket balls - used in muskets and rifles

belt - used to carry knifes

food and brandy - used to increase player health to full

battles

there will be big battles which the user will join if they wish to but if present it will increase moral in the british lines and if battles are won it will increase the chance of the british winning the war and rule the land.

ending?

the game will sort of end when the british have captured the land. but the game will restart itself because one of the oposition sides will uprise again and again each time getting harder and the user will have to try and stop them etc.. so hopefully a never ending game

ps sos for the spelling.

i want this game - do u?
